can you help me downgrade my BA (O2 Xda iis)??
this is the ROM:
wm6.5 (build 21169.5)
MODEL NO.: PH20B
i want to downgrade it to its default ROM wm2003 SE...
but i can't remember it's rom version...i only know that it was from O2 UK...
i downloaded the O2 UK 1.40.242...
but when I tried, it said "Country ID Error"...
may I should try the other O2 UK rom...
could you give tips or tell what's wrong?

once you had a cooked rom from this forum, the country id changes to WWE. that's why on the first attempt to upgrade, many people experience a country id error.
what you have to do is, downgrade the same way you upgrade, don't just click the big .exe file, unpack it, and put the maupgradeut_noid in there and put your device into bootloader mode before starting the actual downgrade. that way you bypass the check of the device id, country id a.s.o

usually, when you download the official shipped rom from your carrier or from xplode's firmware archive. it will come as one exe file of forty something MB. but that is not an exe like a normal executable, it is a self-extracting archive, which can also be extracted manually, but right clicking it, and then saying extract here or something similar, depending on the zip program you have installed, like winrar, or 7zip. and in that folder you will find the official RUU (with baupgradeut) and the roms nk.nbf (wm2003 rom), ms_.nbf (the extrom) and radio_.nbf (the radio rom).
and there you can start customizing.
1st you need the maupgradeut_noid, which you used to upgrade your device, since that bypasses some security features, like the country id, you should also think about whether or not to flash the old radio, if you don't want it, just delete it from the folder, same thing for the extrom.

you know, when you first upgraded the device from wm2003 in your local language with your country code to an english WWE wm6.5 you changed the country code of the device, that is why, on the way back, you need to bypass the check again.
but just as you said, bootloader mode and maupgradeut_noid do the trick.

Extract the Rom file to a folder on your pc.
than download this file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=30778&d=1160429997 and Extract it into the Rom folder.
than connect your charmer to pc and double click on "ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe".
that should do the trick.

This archive says that the file is corrupted Anyway, i found some posts of Ulymanchild who had the same problem as me so here is his solution:
1.Down load HTC_Charmer _upgradeut_noid
2.http://www.windowsceportal.hu/tartalom/programok/htc_charmer_upgradeut_noid.zip
3.Download Any Charmer ROM Utility.
4.Extract nk.nbf from the Charmer ROM Utility.
5.Place nk.nbf to the HTC_Charmer upgradeut_noid.
6.Get the upgrade with no ID Errors.
7.GOT TO LOVE IT!

3. Download Charmer ROM from here: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Charmer/Shipped_ROMs/
4. Right click on the file you just downloaded and Extract to an empty folder on your desktop (you will find in that folder the nk.nbf you are looking for).
5. make sure your phone is connected to pc via activesync, copy the file I attached to this post (ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe) in to this folder, and double click on it.
That should do the job.

I want to downgrade to WM5. With shipped roms i can't, coz i get Vendor ID error ofcz. If i wanna use the Charmer AKU2 upgrade, then it says, that i need another updater (error no.: 300). If i use the noid one, then it says something about missing files, and tells me to re-download the updater. I did it but it still says the same. Please help me, its very important. Thx : andor44

Hi!
I think there is no hardspl for Charmer.You can CID unlock it easily with lokiwiz02,if your IPL,SPL is V1 or V2(f.e.:2.26).
Post the error code with noid or post a screenshot.

Hi!
Weird,because cooked ROMs usually can't be installed on CID locked devices.
Try to CID unlock it with lokiwiz02,then retry upgrade with AKU2.

I have CID unlocked it before installed WM6.1... But it doesn't matter anymore. A user called 'rmagyar' solved my problem in PM.

These are the instructions from ASERG's method that were included in the text file for the "Here is a TMO Wing Original ROM with TouchFlo added" ROM.
The order of installation OS:
1. To make full backup or only the data necessary to you on SD a card or PC.
2. ActiveSync should be connected and it is desirable as "Guest".
4. Establish ASerg_Policies.CAB (If version OS from ASerg is not established)
5. Start !UPGRADE_ROM.bat also expect end.
6. Make hard reset.
But i don´t have UPGRADE_ROM.bat only the official spanish RUU.
the UPGRADE_ROM.bat use a OS.nb.
Have i to extrack the OS.nb file form the offical RUU?
When i extracted the files from RUU_signed.nbh i got
ATHENA_IPL.nb
ExtendenRom.nb
G4IPL.nb
PrimarySplash.nb
SPL.nb
Radio.nb
Windows.nb
If i rename the windows.nb to OS.nb it will work?

wait....you want to install the RUU? Isn't it like an executable file (.exe)? You juct connect your phone to activesync and run the ruu executable.

I have read a lot and i dindn found nothing for herald.
I read that IMEI-CHECK.CO.UK cid unclok don´t work and when you upgrade your rom with a RUU you get a cid error.
Someone can tell me if i rename the windows.nb (file extrated form the spanish RUU) to OS.nb can i use the Upgrade_rom.bat file?
Yes you can, but one thing.. ATHENA_IPL.nb?? Did you extract the .nb from an Athena RUU? Please do NOT flash this lol. Just donwload the WM6 official ROM. Extract the windows.nb from the nbh. install ASerg policies cab and put Herald in Flight mode. Then run Epgrade_ROM.bat. good luck

aserg's method is an outdated way of flashing a rom. It was used in the earlier roms posted on the forum (like the one jimmysong tried to flash)
to use, you will need to find the cab pack for it. Check some of the older touch-it roms for the cabs (especially the non-wm6.1 ones like touchit 2)
from there, remove the os.nb file. Use nbh extract to extract the windows.nb file from an .nbh file that you get after you download a rom. rename that to os.nb. and place that in the folder that the original os.nb was in.
follow the instructions very closely and TO THE LETTER. When using aserg's method to flash, nothing will happen. Or so it seems. Be patient until the .bat prompts tell you that it's ok to hard reset your phone.

You can't flash the stock RUU after HardSPL'ing your phone. (You both have HardSPL.) The RUU tries to write over the SPL (which is called HardSPL for a reason...) and it also expects the CID to match the default tmobile RUU.
If you want to go back to a stock ROM you have two options.
Extract the os.nb out of that RUU (which is what Rick GM is talking about) and recreate the NBH without the SPL or use USPL to bypass the CID check.

I bought a UK version of the Herald. But I want to have the NL (Dutch) version to be flashed on my phone. I have both RUU's from the HTC website. I used SPL and NZB method, but both time it is whining about "this installer isn't made for this phone" or something. is there another way?
you will need the following things- USPL for herald, 7-zip, both RUUs
1.unzip the USPL to wherever you can find it
2. install 7-zip, right click on the dutch ruu, go to the 7-zip submenu, and click "extract here"
3. you will be left with a bunch of files, among them "ruu_signed.nbh". Drag this file into the "RUU" folder which is inside the USPL "flash center" folder. DO NOT drag SPL.nbh
4.Run the USPL after plugging in your phone.
5. If you somehow mess it up, put your phone in bootloader (hold camera key while softresetting) and run the UK ruu.
That trick does ONLY work with non-official roms. Too bad the official roms are still not changeable, because they still give the invalid vender ID.
Is there an option to extract the roms and exchange the dutch language? It's just that I need to have a rom with a Dutch language, no matter what rom.
did you try the above process? It SHOULD work, as long as you leave out the SPL.nbh

you can download your shipped rom, either at your carrrier's site, or, more comfortably, at -=xplode's shipped rom archive=-. you can find more informations on how to downgrade are to be found -=here=-. remember, even if your shipped rom comes as a simple exe file and seems to have downgraded automatically in the past, your device is WWE now and it lost its original name, like 9090, mdaIII or xdaIIs to BlueAngel, meaning, you need to induce the bootloader mode manually and use a modified RUU to bypass country ID, model ID... error. the RUU can be found -=here=-.
