Accelerometer problem - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone's accelerometer (sp?) Isnt working right. It wont auto rotate in any programs. Also if im typing on the actual keyboard then when i close it the display will stay in that view, only thing i can do is lock the screen and unlock it again. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!
Oh and I also forgot to mention that I am running on xRom 1.5.

When I had an accelerometer issue, I found a topic here and tried to do what they said, it didnt work. I ended up sending it in for repairs, and HTC fixed it.

Keyboard problem - Hardware or Software?

Hi guys,
I searched and found nothing specifically related to this. I tried disableXT9.cab but it did nothing.
I recently broke the screen on my second Kaiser so I had to replace it with the screen from my first (which reception problems so I stopped using it). To do this I followed the guide posted in these forums on disassembly and successfully switch the screen. I sent text messages right away after I reboot my phone and the keyboard was working fine. A few minutes later a few of the keys had stopped working. The delete key didn't work. At one point it started to work again but didn't work anymore after that.
I figured it was a connection problem so I took my kaiser apart again and rebuilt it. Unfortunately it didn't work. I tried again. This time some more keys stopped working (not sure if its because of disassembly or not - my connections are perfect). It's possible I scratched the connection ribbon... so I replaced the keyboard with the keyboard in my other phone, but I still have the same problem.
Is this a hardware problem I can't fix? (if so why did it work right after I got it to work the first time)
Or is there something funky going on with my software?? Can I fix this?
Thanks!
I tried to flash a new ROM and the same keys are still not working.
I guess this means it's a hardware problem???
Does anyone know if I can do anything to fix this.. i already tried switching the keyboard...
i'd like to figure this out as well.. i don't think it's hardware as i've changed my tilt 5 times already by complaining about the keyboard.. is yours like mine where it works sometimes but not all the time?

My Landscape stopped working??

Sorry, I already posted this in the other board but no one seemed to be able to help me over there so I thought that maybe someone here would be able to help me out. so my problem is that when I slide out the keyboard to type something in, it won't actually rotate the screen. It isn't an issue with the ROM because I have flashed several different ones and it is the same no matter what.
What happens is that I slide out the keyboard, the screen freezes to whatever it was when I slid it out. I type whatever and when I close the phone it just loads up the text that I had typed in. So the keyboard itself works but I can't see what I typed until I close the phone again which is pretty inconvenient. Does anyone know of a way I can solve this? PLEEEAASSSE! help is much appreciated.
Sounds like a hardware problem...
So thats why u were selling it. rofl
yeah, i would if i could. but who would buy it if the screen freezes when pulling out the keyboard
well couldn't you get it repaired under warrenty, if your still in warrenty o' course

Problem with orientation... Won't work!

I'm having a problem with the orientation sensor on my dream. When I tilt the phone sideways it doesn't readjust for landscape mode, when I open the keyboard it finally changes, but when I close it and tilt the phone upright it doesn't change back!
I've tried rebooting the phone, that didn't do anything. It was working fine up until today. I'm very careful with my phone, I've never dropped it.... it doesn't even have a scratch on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S:
I'm running the newest version of the Cyanogen mod

Thanks a lot! I used the search bar and wasn't able to find anything, I even googled it.

i typed cyanogen stable in on the search this forum feature (in the dev forum) and it was still on the second page... shows how relevant cyanogen and stable are to cyanogen's stable rom thread.

Accelerometer driver not present?

Hey, guys
My accelerometer for HTC Tattoo does not work. The compass either. The Sensor List application does not display any coordinates for any of the sensors, just like they don't work. As I've read, I think the accelerometer driver is akmd, and if I run a ps, it's not running. More than that, I can't even find it in system/bin... There are also no akmd* files in data/misc. I am using Cupcake 1.67 (tried 1.65 too and it doesn't work either).
Any ideas?
Thanks
I know nothing about the Tatoo, though I'm thinking of getting one.
I remember I had this problem when I got my Magic. It was brand new, stock firmware and all, but the g-sensor (aka accelerometer) wouldn't work. I did a factory reset and that fixed it. Have you tried this yet?
I did that 3 times, nothing. I even reflashed my ROM, still nothing
Thanks.
Never mind, I returned it, got another one and it's working with this new device. Was probably a hardware failure.
It may be a proublem with premission from recovery level - in G1 i have the same issue - accelerometer works fine, one times they "crashed" and even wipe/flashing don't help.
This isn't trouble with hardware - Amon_Ra has special option in recovery (like "wipe gsensor settings") and this help in my G1.
For tattoo there are not yet recevery, but wait a moment - cheap hardware and propably selling in mobile operators for small cash will bring user and developers
how i test the g-sensor and the accelerometer!?? i´m thinking buying this device today
g-sensor = accelerometer
Rotate the phone while writing a message. Should change to landscape.
tks man i´ll try it!

[Q] Galaxy S Display Rotated Upside Down. Need Assistance :(

Hi everyone...
I've been having problems with my Galaxy S since yesterday. After upgrading to XXJPM my display is rotated 180 degrees (completely upside down). Strangely enough, the touch interface seems to be working just fine.
For example, the "Phone" icon is supposed to be on the bottom-left of the screen. It is now displayed on the top-right corner (again, upside down) but in order to activate it I still have to touch the bottom-left corner right on the icon's original position.
The display is also rotated 180 degrees if I enter recovery or download mode, but the volume up-down buttons still function as is. There are times when the display will appear normal for a few seconds before rotating itself 180 degrees again.
I followed the installation steps to the letter, did everything properly, I even searched just in case other users had similar issues, but I still haven't found a fix yet (really sorry if I missed similar threads). I also tried calibrating the g-sensor, but that didn't solve the problem.
Auto-rotate works perfectly, but the screen is still upside down no matter which way I rotate the handset. The same goes for when auto-rotate is off.
Any thought will be highly appreciated. I'm also willing to make a small donation if necessary. I'm desperate for a solution
Odd. Try flashing a new rom

I did, but that didn't solve the problem. I think it has something to do with the bootloader since during startup the screen would show the normal Galaxy S logo correctly for about one second and then the display is rotated. Even the download/recovery interface is flipped.
The Good and the bad
Good news first: you are not the only one have this problem.
I have same problem after updated Nordic v. Froyo.
Bad one is I haven't got a clue how to sole the problem.
Let't belive ours has special talent which can jump twice more that ordinary ones.
try reflashing with one of the roms that has a bootloader included. search around not all do.. i know the jh2 for i9000m has bootloader..

Tried this, didn't work too. I also tried Tayutama Edition rom, actually it helps a bit. After finishing the sdcard scanning routine the screen would work just fine for quite a while before going straight back to being rotated. It is also still upside down during the entire boot process.
Found another interesting discovery. Still using Tayutama firmware, if I switch the Power-Saving Mode from Display settings off and on, the display will be reverted back to normal.
I wonder what's causing this issue in the first place...
Tried another fresh rom, still no improvement...
I attached a picture showing how the screen is upside down even in download mode. Notice how the USB port and the download mode triangle just don't match.
Any further advice would be highly appreciated
Solved Mine!
Make sure Galaxy lie FLAT(back of galaxy isn't flat)
Setting-Display-calibrate
Mine worked that way hope yours too.
Now landscape to potrate turn like cream
but added bonus is landscape turn either ways .
what a great addition.

I'm afraid that doesn't work for me
I'm glad you fixed your Galaxy S though. Quick question: did you have the screen upside down during the Galaxy S logo animation on startup?
It seems diffren kind problem
I am sorry that my solution did not work for you.
Mine did work few hours after down load Froyo.
Then problem began.
Have you tried factory reset then calibration?

Yes, I tried that and it didn't work.
Still trying different solutions right now, hope I can get a good solution soon
I have another Galaxy S in hand. The broken one still has its screen upside down. I was wondering if I can backup the bootloader and ROM of this new Galaxy S with the system working correctly to the broken one. Will that be possible?
As always, inputs are welcomed
Thanks wonbad!

Thanks! I had also problems with auto rotation, did even factory reset but did not start to work until made calibration you mentioned.
I've tried virtually anything to get the display fixed, including doing a complete rom backup of a healthy Galaxy S, and the display is still rotated. I think it really is a bootloader problem.
I took it to Samsung service center here in Bali. They said they can fix it, but they won't because I got the device in UK and I need to take it to a service center in the UK to get it fixed. Crazy...
A quick Note
==========
Just to make it clear, for any future reference, display rotation if shown when it is powered off and charging and also while booting, this is most probably a hardware issue, this can ONLy be achieved by replacing the LCD (or doing a hardware repair of the LCD) it has nothing to do with sensors or software.
Thanks.
