Remap àü button on X1? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since I have no use of the àü button on the keyboard (I always use sym anyways), is it possible to remap this button to CTRL?
(I often use PocketPutty client on the phone and I always today have to take out the soft keyboard to do CTRL+O (Save in nano) or CTRL+X (Exit in nano))
Any that knows a registry tweak or something?

Mapping back button to OK key?

I've been trying to map the back button (delete key) on my hardware keyboard to my OK key so that I can navigate one-handed in PIE using my scroll wheel and my OK key. I'm using AE Button Plus, and I'm trying to use VJkeypress to map the virtual keypress for this event.
However, the virtual key 08 isn't working.
I have a .lnk file with 52#"\Program Files\vijay555\VJKeyPress\VJKeyPress.exe" 08 and it doesn't work. If I change it to 91 then I can get the start menu to pop up.
Is there a different set of virtual keys for WM6?
I currently have a long press of my OK key to the left softkey, and this allows me to navigate back, but I can't use it in fullscreen mode in PIE.
Anyone have any ideas?
I wrote this short MortScript and then mapped it to the side OK button (just take the .txt extension off). If you're in PIE, it presses the back button. If you're in any other application, it clicks on the "X" in the top right. That way I can use the left-side controls in PIE. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the script. However, it doesn't work in PIE if you use full screen, which was the same issue I was having just mapping the left soft key to the OK key.
Is there a way to simulate a keyboard press (backspace) in Mortscript instead?
Try the command "SendBackspace" (without the quotes). I think that will do it.

Convert the Tab Key to Ctrl Key

Hi Guys,
Is there a simple registry tweak or tiny program that will convert the hardware Tab Key (hardly ever used) to be a Ctrl Key (I used to have an Athena and the Ctrl key is fantastic for navigating and editing emails and text messages as Ctrl-Left and Ctrl-right let you move the cursor one word at a time).
I have tried the PQZ tools (free) and the AE Key mapper (shareware) and they seem overkill for one simple task like this. Any ideas?

AT&T Tilt PTT Remap Solution

I searched all over the place to remap the PTT Button on my AT&T Tilt without altering the ROM. I don't use or want to use Push To Talk services which made the PTT Button useless, Remappers weren't working and the PTT settings screen kept poping up every time I hit the button.
So I tried the following solutions:
1: How to assign a shortcut to EndKey, SendKey, Power Button, PTT Button!!
+ This allowed me to assign another program to the key (Voice Command, Short_PTT.lnk). And it worked fine.
- However, the PTT Settings kept popping up also, though it would go away if I just ignored it.
2: Cingular ROM users: PTT function hacked!
+ Though this is not really for the Tilt/Kaiser, and it would not accept any remap in accordance with its directions, it did disable the PTT Settings program from rearing its ugly head.
++ Combined with solution 1 above, this button does exactly what I want it to do!
Thanks to the 2 contributors, HMA4 and SLEUTH255, Cheers!

Did you delete the PTT registry entry? Otherwise, your remap won't stick.
What I did was
1) delete the PTT registry entry
2) remaps the button using SPB Pocket Plus.
I searched but could not find the registry entry, and I have pocket plus, remapping wasn't working, probly due to the registry (and I'm not very comfortable editing that anyway). This has stuck through several resets, and can be uninstalled if i wish, maybe you could elaborate because I may not understand any negative implications in this method.
I'm pretty new at pocket PC's.
Thanks.
Here ya go!

Here's mine,
1)Disable PTT (Credit to vpoet)
2)In the registry navigate to the hklm\services\ptt
Back it up and delete it (yes the entire key)
3) Install cab
It'll map a new button 6; (two functions-button 6 press and button 6 hold) and also allow you to change whatever is on the button using the button menu in settings.
(It's default icon for button 6 is Voice Speed Dial, and button 6 (hold) is record, but you can change either key to what you want.)

Thanks, I didn't know that I could remap it with SBP Pocket Plus, but it works like a charm.
actually, i found this to be the absolute simplest solution available (no programs, just three registry tweaks):

is there a way to remove PTT from 'Programs' also?

AE Button Remapping Software

I just purchased AEButton remapping software. I think this is the best software available today that allows you to remap any hardware button to more than one function. I managed to program the side "OK" button to Vibrate/Ring. As it stands, using Manila disables the side OK button original functions rendering it useless.
I highly recommend this program to those that are frustrated with not knowing what to do with the OK button.
I've been using AE button for quite some time..
it's quite useful.
U can also save the config and restore it whenever U flash a ROM.
the file shud be *.cfg in the AE folder (can't remember exactly)
Only just installed as have always wondered to what point i would use it? My phone is now so much more user friendly.
Button 1:
Press: Opera Mini
Double Press: Opera Mobile.
Button 2:
Press: Messaging
Double: MobilePad
Long: Calendar Touch
Button 3:
Press: Start Menu
Double: Task Manager
Long: Backlight
Button 4:
Press: OK\Close
Double: BT on\off
Long: Wi-Fi on\off
Button 6:
Press: TaskFacade
Double: NoData
Hold: McGuider GPS
could i use this to remap keys on my keyboard. i need to switch my p,n,k,m keys for my arrow keys because my p,n,k,m keys are unresponsive

[Q] Resco CM + 826x + some questions

Hello everyone
1. I am interested in keys remapping and changing some defaults in the 826x but don't know to grab it. Always what I wanted was to wipe out Windows Default Dialer/Phone software and exchange it to the Resco Contact Manager. I don't mean to change "Green Phone Button" but to make dialer (keypad) from this software as default in whole "system". After I had remapped (using AEB Plus) Green key to for example to "Favorites" from Resco CM software, I overridden default (important) action of this key as well - accepting connections. My key was calling Favorites from Resco CM but wasn't accepting connections. Is there any possibility to merge this two interactions into one button? Would be greater to set green button default to "Keypad" panel from this Resco CM.
2. After I have remapped some keys using AEB Plus I've lost this sweet Resco Task Manager (is this correct name?) from 826x ROM. I've tried to restore it by mapping it to the XPanel button, but don't know what to set exactly under this button - which executable? I've tried to use app called uTask Configurator but don't know how to use it correctly
3. What may be the reason of fact that I am not able to Map the keys in mine PocketMusic player? In stock rom I mapped my keys for usage in music player, but now when I try to do it - app (PocketMusic) does not recognizes pressed keys? No info about pressed key is showed.
4. How to set "turning screen off during call" or "blocking phone during call" in the quickest way? I need to set something like that, but don't want to use third party apps like S2U2? Maybe there is any REGISTRY method?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
