I have this problem and hope i can find solution for it ...
I have HTC TYTN II , my GPS didn't work till in install the GPSGate to my ppc , i was using ver 2.5 and now 2.6.
when first install , he asked to make soft reset so it can download thee driver first . and it was working so perfect .
Till i dont know what happened suddenly every time i try to open GPSGate he asked me to make soft reset and i try this 100 times but nothing happened . i can see the GPS is working but can't open the virtual port com1 so can the GPS programs use it as before..
I reinstall the program allots of times . but till now i can't open the GPS
How can i fix this problem? i do need to re use the GPS again .
from the first place i dont know why my GPS not working in the normal way also if you have idea of this to tell me..
Backup your settings and files and try to do a hardreset, maybe that will help.

very strange experience today (and just during traveling in the US !) . I have installed TomTom since some weeks and it worked always well. Based on the suggestion of the forum I never never never touched the GPS settings. Now I bought a map for the US as traveling in NY. First day no problem .. tomtom went fine leading me from Airport to the Hotel . Big problem started the second day. I started the Kaiser and TomTom and the TomTom start screen showed me first time ever a message (left corner of the screen) NO GPS DEVICE .... hmmm . I waited for 10 min but not satelite were found.
I softrest .. but no change . But now it got even worse ... TomTom starts , Message NO GPS device showed up and 1-3 min my PDA makes a softrest !!!
This behaviour is fully replicable ..
I even did a hard reset and installed back my back up .. with exact the same problem
Please I need help .. as my travel still goes on .
I would re-install Tomtom , but my CD is at home .. somewhere I can download the SW to do a hard reset without installing backup and install TomTom from scratch again ?
Or is the GPS chip now broken in my device , any idea ho to test if the chip is still active ?

HArd Reset and do not install anty back ups as thats most likly the problem here! you can install TomTom from this rapidshare link! Enjoy http://rapidshare.com/files/56585274/6_032_8351.rar
I had same problem one week ago. I formatted several times but didnt work. Finally simply used QuickGPS to download sats positions and all worked again.
ps. IN my case when I started any gps program (tomtom, igo, cruxview or any program that opens com4) resetted my kaiser
quite strange behaviour ...
- I hard reset and install just Tom Tom , no other app , same result, TomTom did a softreset after 10 sec
- I hard reset and install Mobile Navigator 6, no other app, same results .. MN6 soft reset device after 10 sec.
- I hardrest and install a one week old backup with working Tomtom installation, same result... device reboots after 10 sec.
Thanks to Daniel (your Last name should be actually Hero) I updated quick gps ... now it works like before !!!
But strange enough , I did a GPS quick update just the day before yesterday ..so just one day before this errors came up.
Does this mean,... do not trust you Tytn II and you are in deep **** when this hits you in an area with no GSM coverage ... so no navigation when you cant download GPS quick ???
Not sure if I like this .. plus I am now unsecure if/when this error will come back. I thought Quickfix is just to help you getting the sats faster ... not that your full gps device is not working without GPS quick ...

Hi.
Happy to see your problem was fixed. I ve a friend that uses the gps and hasnt event used quickFix because hast set any connection setting so I dont think this is the problem. In my opinion quickFix stores its info in gps chipset (because of it the problem isnt solved with hard reset) and sometimes this info is corrupt (partial download or any other problem) and makes the device to freeze. Refreshing this info solves the problem...
i have a tilt along with 3 GPS software: miomap 3.3 oncourse navi6 and google maps. i updated to the latest rom, duttys wm6.1...and gps works
gps works great but now it doesnt work..com port is set to 4 and when i load the gps software, it loads..but when i set the com port within the software..whole phone freezes...i have to soft reset...
all software freezes at "starting..." during program startup
setting to a different com port..i can load the software..but setting the com port in the software freezes again..
i tried to back track...but i cant seem to find the problem besides hard resetting..
anyone have this issue? ..i even tried uninstalling googlemaps/miomap etc but still same issue..
thanks!

Am i doing anything wrong or is it a problem with the ROM i Upgraded from a Danish ROM
Thanks in advance

Did you do a hard reset AFTER flashing?
yep, it happened to me also, an hard reset should resolve, in any case I suggest you to install the utility "GPSTest" (google to find it).
that program is useful because it is able to "renew" the gps status, after installation just launch it (outside of course) and let the program to automatically check your GPS status (1st time it can take 2 or more minutes), when you see at least 3 sat aligned simply close the program, shutdown the phone (NOT soft reset) and then after reboot launch tomtom and you'll see that it will recognize again the gps module.
bye,
davide
i dont think it is fault that you did not do a hard reset after flashing your rom, neither did i.
You should run the htc gps tool with cold start for a while (3-4 mins minimum), then ur TT can find gps.

The same story here, except that I used GoogleMap. It took a long time for GPS to get a fix and when it did, it found only a few satellites. The reception was also poor with a lot of lagging. And yes, I forgot to make a hardreset after flashing.
I just installed http://www.efficasoft.com/gpsutilities/index_wm_ppc.html and this program got an immediate fix to 12 satellites. I then rebooted and noticed that also GoogleMap was OK now. Why? Someone else may explain.
Untick "Auto search Bluetooth GPS receiver"
Set "COM Port" to COM4.
Set "Baud Rate" to 4800.
hello everybody
im having a very wiered problem since today, i have flashed the new 1.93 NLD stock rom, and the gps decided not to work anymore, i did everything possible, hardresetting, reflashing the rom, but nothing helped, i also installed this HTC tool, and let it running for a while, nothing changed, i deiced to leave google maps runnign for a while, it turned a message saying that my GPS device is having torubles finding a GPS signal.
does that sound familiar to anybody,,, actually what makes it wierede, the programs can see the GPS chip, i mean in tomtom and google maps, but only the device, no signal.
Best regards
Kevin
Always remember to do a hard-reset after installing a new rom.
- I have tried several times that my gps were "stuck". My sollution is the Htc Gps tool (Find it here: http://maritime-billeder.dk/htc-diamond.html). With that you can choose to do a warm or a cold start. This gives the gps chip a kick, and almost always fixes the problem.

Hey All
i have a problem with me GPS
i just bought my new TyTn II from egypt and they are disable GPS i cant find GPS setting or connect to it throught any gps program.
when i try to use any of those programs it tells me that their is now GPS device connected
i think they block the GPS by the software i notice that from the registry
a DWARD called EnableGPS was set to 0
so i turn it to 1
and also try to update the ROM with WM 6.1 i download it from HTC.com it work good and the only new thing that happen about GPS is that the quickGPS ,but when i click download it go for a long connecting
I dont know what to do else to make that GPS work
PLZ HELP
I believe that Egypt (and most Arab countries), have banned the use of GPS for obvious reasons. It's a pity, but there you have it. The device should still pick up a GPS signal if it is enabled. It should be set for Com 4 and 4800 baud. You can try a freeware GPS app like noniplot.
hey man am from egypt and i got a tytn II
you have to change the ROM you can install any ROM you want to because in Egypt they disable the GPS from the ROM
and you can also download the original ROM and if you want the maps and programs send me a private message and i will send them to you
have fun and congratulations for the tytn II
enjoy
i dunno if you are up to it, but try flashing a new ROM, that should take care of it, as the problems you are facing are usually caused by software limits set in the Egypt ROM.
hi guys when i start Tom Tom or another program that uses gps the device doesnt work anymore and i have to reboot since no button neither touch works, any suggestion?
Look what I found!

Hi,ok let´s see, like you ive had the same problem, just when i was using any gps navigator the phone suddendly stopped and that was sucking me a lot so after that i started to think what could be the problem, and at the end after a lot of time i found where was the problem and what was the solution. To find the solution i decided to hard reset the new rom with which all my gps problems started, and following the instalation steps of all programs and configurations i found the problem and this was related with the quick gps, before using this program to upgrade my gps location my mobile was runing tomtom and others without freezing, but after upgrade the gps location with the quick gps my mobile started to freeze. So this is the problem, just do this try to hard-reset and install eveything but dont, i repeat dont !!use the quick gps or this will freeze your phone again. Following this step your phone will run the gps navigators without the freeze problem
Then men after this try to do this and let me know (PLEAE) if your problem still remain ok? see u and hope you can solve this problem like me.

Yet more info from the same thread:
My temporary solution:
1.
Erase QuickGPS data. Simply delete 2 files: Temp\xtra.bin and Windows\xtra.bin
2.
Soft Reset phone.
