anyone care to chime in on this??? Is it worth going to the spb? Can you install over top of latest Dutty? Looks pretty cool!
Dutty is a rom..... SPB MS 2.0 is a program. It'll run on any rom.
Yeah I know that it is... I guess I was meaning how does it compare to just running HTC home? Worth the buy?

You can download a trial for it. Mods please move this thread the Kaiser Software forum.
but this has nothing to do with dutty's rom..
for me its worth the buy...read more on the spb website
sorry..
Guess I should have posted over there sorry..
SBP products run great and are essential for any phone but I only use SBPdiary w/HTCH on my Today screen. Most of their products run great in the background, SBPTime for powerful alarm clock, stop watch, and world timer. SPB Phone Suite excellent calling features that can run in the background as well.
I typically enjoy HTCHC but from time to time I wish I had the artistic and technological skills to create something different
I have a Tilt, and I tried installing both SPB Shell 2.0 and SPB Pocket Plus 4 on Dutty's April 1st rom, and they worked but did one weird thing, when the phone would boot up the signal would go in and out, flashing there, then not there, then there etc., it would do this for almost a minute before finally locking on a signal.

I would say that the SPB Mobile Screen 2 program is awesome! I have been using it on top of Dutty's Light rom and it works great. Real smooth and responsive, lots of customization options as well as nice fit and finish which is hard to find on a WM6 product.
If you want a free version you can always check out .... to find all the crack codes for almost any software package out there.
As far as the downsides go, it eats battery faster than normal, it does not run on your today screen which bothers me and you can OK through it and go back to your today screen. That problem is slightly solved by SPB making it your default app when you start up the phone and bring it back from sleep which elevates most of the issues.
I just flashed my phone and am going to try giving HTC Home Live a chance, but if I do not think it is customizable enough I am going straight back to SPB... Before I forget to mention, SPB has one of the best opening screens I have seen so far, it has a email, missed calls and text messages right on the front, as well as weather, call options, clock, and the best part a calendar with dates and your schedule all in an easy to read form.
I hope this clears up something for you. Hopefully you wont have to pay for it, but if you do, I would actually say it is worth the 30 bucks.

That's because weather updates on bootup.
It sucks but does level off & then everything works.
Besides that, they both work excellent for me together

I tried the spb mobile shell trial and it's also nice.
Try Pointui as well, you might like it and not buy spb mobile shell at all. The last time I tried this was when it just came out in Alpha stage and it did quite well and was fast with the original, slow wm6 OS that came with my Tilt

Ahh, so that's what's causing it, I was going nuts trying to figure out why that was happening with them, thanks dwny! It does level off after a minute or so like you said and then it's fine, I was thinking it was screwing with my signal or phone, but if it's normal and not a problem, I am putting them back on. I am so glad you posted this, I was missing my SPB stuff, HTC Home just isn't cutting it for me. I had hard reset the Tilt and reloaded Dutty's Rom, and left off those programs because, like I said, I thought it was an error.
Edit-If I shut off the weather, will it stop that behavior? I don't use the weather on SPB MS, It doesn't have the weather for my town of Redwood Valley, I use Weather Bug and Weather Watcher for that. It's weird, I didn't have this issue when running MS or PP on Laurentius's ROM's. I take it that the signal thing is only visual, ie.the signal is actually okay, but while it's updating at boot up it "shows" it as going in and out, no?

Be careful with Point UI, it's tricky to uninstall (there is no uninstall for it in the "remove programs" page), and it leaves pieces of itself of it allover. I tried it too, and it has a ton of potential, but they really need a way to get it off the phone, right now it's an exercise in frustation.

Quick question, what did you think of Point UI? worth installing and flashing again? I am fumbling around with a lot of different UIs? I have tried Ultimate Launch (bit too complicated for me to setup the way I want, SPB Mobile Shell, (but it drains too much batt), HTC home (not customizable enough.) If you could let me know a little more about the POINT UI that would be awesome before I put it on my phone. Thanks buddy.

you tried htc home customizer w/ quick launcher?
There are many customized icons, clocks, backgrounds, and weather views. In addition w/ quick launcher you have an extra row of tabs, which you can change to go to any program (and icons of course).
I stuck with HTC embedded inside Ultimate Launcher.
Ultimate Laucher is not that complicated if you look carefully a little bit of patience and you'll get the hang of it, moreover you could just copy your Ultimatelauncher.ini file as backup to have the same setup each time in case you like flashing roms a lot.
For HTC Home there's HTC Home Customizer, lots of icons to download.
I've tried most of them, but i always end up with the simplest setup I guess I got tired of fancy sliding and multiple clicks, the fewer clicks to find what I need does it for me.
Btw, there's another nice today app I'd like you to see it's rlToday Check it out

Hi, I know this thread won't last long, but...
I really need someone to recommend a rom/s that I can use spb Mobile shell. I tried it with duttys 6.5 r12 rom, but it keeps crashing and dying.
Other people asking for which rom to use have been told that they need to ask what features they want and I want it to be stable and fast and to be compatible with mobile shell.
From reading other threads similar to mine, it seems noone wants to give any specific advise... so if you think this is the wrong place to ask please please tell me where to ask before you close the thread.
PS. all i want is for someone to say, 'try this one or this one', instead of 'you have to try them all and be the judge yourself'. thanks
I have used miris and onkologs roms and had no issues with spbms. My experience have been best with both of them otherwise too....
i have onkolog superlite 6.5 rom with spb mobile shell... fastest thing i ever seen
whats wrong with the standard 1.56 rom or 1.59 rom if you're gonna put sbp mobile shell on it? the standard ones work fine
@pw120 :
It's working, but he wants the faster one for SPB

Haha, loved it
I have tried heaps of roms, Miri and onkolog were fast, i tried numerous dutty ones but they die horrible deaths for some reason. I used the enrgy rom also.
The best one I tried was B!ch0ns rom from http://htc-touch-hd.forumactif.biz/
unfortunately it is a french ROM.
It was the best rom because there is a problem with all of the roms I have tried, where clicking the windows notification for missed calls or sms's does not load the call registry or sms program no matter how many times you click. (not in B!ch0n or onkolog)
The other problem is that when using the Phone application, the contacts soft button does not work.
Somehow B!ch0n found a workaround for that.
Has anyone used a rom that doesn't have the notification problem after installing mobile shell?
I have spb shell version 3.5. I've faced the notifications problem with energy roms. In dutty's R6 rom, when clicking the soft button for missed calls or contacts, it brings up the spb interface for both.
Bottom line, try this rom.
If you want to find a Lite or Superlite Rom, you can test those one :
- Barbone Rom from JonPatcher
- Lite and Superlite Rom from Onkolog
- The UltraLite from EpiphanyNL
@+
Thing is this has been asked before. Theres even a thread on creating a rom specifically for SPB. Unfortunately its a dutch rom, but Im sure you could change the language easily enough.
Bottom line is all roms will work with SPB, but your looking for a hight performance rom. Plenty of roms already listed above by others, best option would be too try a few of these, especially the lite ones and make your own conclusions. Alternatively there is also SPB threads in software forum. Surely one of these guys would be able to advise you as well.
Either way, I see no point for another thread on a topic already covered and asked before.

As the title says, I want a ROM with some other GUI than Touchflo 3D, Im so sick of the slowness, buggyness, laggness of Touchflo >_<
Arent there any really fast GUI somewhere?
What about SPB Mobile Shell for an alternative UI?
I understand the latest version is fast and highly customisable.
I think it will work with 6.5 so you get the benefits of the new OS and a new UI?
That seems interesting. I want a ROM that is clean of all crappy slow programs or a way to clean my current ROM so I can get rid of all Touchflo and slow programs and such.

i could see your signature rom is Lauretius 3.5, that is at the moment by daeron's benchmark the fastest ROM, if you want something else faster than that, get yourself a HD2.
please stop spamming the thread with your "I want this!!! I want that!!!"
I cooked my one from Ervius... fast and stable 28004 (I will upgrade soon)... no htc ****ty staff (except some tools). I can post you somewhere while I do not share it public until one bug is solved - when I open SMS, close and open another, outlook shuts down. But if you do not mind about this little bug and if you are able to customize your startmenu (via copying the items in windows/start menu folder)... it is not problem you could be my first tester
otherwise - i can share one significant information - after SR only 29% of RAM occupied
I want the fastest and stable ROM without the buggy and slow TouchFlo 3D interface!

everyone wants the same like u
to be honest im also sick and tired of all this HTC customizing, TouchFlo, Sense etc.. Perhaps it makes sense on HD2, Ive had one for a couple of days and it was moving ok with its SnapDragon of 1GHz, but for HD Sense interface is simply unusable for a regular business-like usage...
Just use wm6.5's own interface Titanium.
Or even faster, use the standard wm6.1 interface
Just uncheck TouchFlow or Sense in your settings->today menu

SPB works great on any ROM. just switch off the touchflo/Sence.
The only prob is you cant use a ROM with HTC messaging in a threaded mode.
A half a year i heaving trouble with flashing new roms and they all unstable ... I appreciate the time of developers ,they wants to do something really useful, however to me it does not enough good for everyday use ..
So, i finished my job with official release of rom for HD and I installed a new SPB mobile shell and that is most stable combination for me..All shortcuts that I want is there... No bugs...
Or try iPhoneToday, the fastest UI I've ever tested, and very simple. Perhaps too simple for fans of SPB, but I like iPhoneToday.
Well, I would say nothing will satisfy you unless you upgrade your device aka HD2. Cos the combination of WM6.5, WM6.5.3 with Sense 2.5 is meant for higher spec HD2.
I would think WM6.5.1 with Sense 2.1 is still acceptable.

Get Dutty's 4.3 for 6.1 thats the fastest you can possibly have, fast TF3D haven't spot any bugs but yeah, its for 6.1 so it wont have the added features like the Manila 2.5 (using Dutty's Holy Grail) although its a lot slower, its manageable and if you use Titanium only, its actually fast.
Then there's the PointUi..although its looks cool at start, fast by the way...but i got bored of it faster than the default titanium and TF3D.
Default Titianium is good with 6.5 TouchFlo interface with sliding left or right is crap after using it in realworld situations.
which rom is the best for spb mobile shell? any super lite rom out there instead of the old onkolog one?
try this
there is ROM without manila http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493911

if you're just going to use spb mobile shell, no need to look for a rom that is super light, even if it has manila, just disable it and you should be good to go. problems sometimes with super light is they may have 'overlooked' some parts resulting to a rom with bugs.
Like I said a while ago, Dutty's 4.3 final was the fastest I have tested. disable TF3D then it wont use up additional resources and maintain somewhere 17%-20% (with TF3D around 33%) what you should be looking for is a very stable one and so far this 4.3 is bug free. then you can enjoy ur spb interface. but feel free to try the latest release by others...just my two cents.

I am using Topix 3.1.1 ( windows 6.1 ) with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5, i have about 116 mb free memory ( HTC Touch HD ).
I have tried many roms and Topix is great with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.
Get a rom with manila 2.1, live happy.
Manila 2.5 is cool but too slow on this device.
I've read through here a lot over the last few days...After the pricing/plan mess with the Nexus One, I've decided to hold out a bit and consider upgrading when something better comes out, be it WM or Android. My Wing has gotten to the point where it barely runs, so I need to make some changes. I was hoping I could get some suggestions on stable roms with a good amount of free space and memory that run Mobile Shel 3.5 well. I've seen a few suggestions, but couldn't find a lot of discussion on the topic. I don't need most of the original software, so something real stripped down would work. I don't mind WM 3.1 vs 3.5 unless someone can suggest a reason to have one over the other. Thanks for any advice!
Justin
You're in luck. I am making a ROM that has what you are looking for. Check out my TribU2U Roms and in a couple of days I'll have my new project complete with SPB..
Awesome..I'll keep my eyes open for it!
I am currently running Aserg's rom wm 6.1 and using spb shell, spb time and vito sms-chat been running for a week no problems. on average i have 15 mb free program ram.
I have tried a few wm 6.5, i like the finger freindly but have found memory problems with them.
I am using Aserg's ASerg.Lite4.WM61E.WWE from more than 5 months. No problem at all. I have also installed Mobile Shell 3.5 on it. Even after installing few more softwares I have 21MB Program and 24MB Storage memory.
I am happy with my Herald.
Just curious. Is there a ROM out there that is all stock - minus the bloatware, with the tethering fix, various speed imrpovements, and no "sense"? I run SPB mobile shell and so far most ROMs I have tried waster a lot of space on the "sense" that I don't use, and the camera loses it's color quality for some reason.
Yes, there are several ROMs out there that describe what you're looking for.
Can you point me to one? No sense. Stock camera. tethering enabled. .net 3.5m wifi toggle built in so I don't have to screw with proxy settings. Thanks!

I would try this one, Go here and scroll down to the second post and find the download link to the Titanium version....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
Try this out
If you wanna run Mobile Shell and dont want any extras in the ROM, you should look at Cosmik Debris r3.7
This ROM is WM 6.1 specifically designed for the TP2 and is stripped off of almost everything but is customizable later.
I too prefer the Mobile Shell interface over Sense or TF3D.
I run Mobile Shell on Jackos Oldschool WM6.1 v1.2a, and its runs smooth & fine. Plenty of free memory over 300 mb for any installations and always around 105-115 mb RAM even after 2 days without soft reset.
WM6.5 is such a memory hog for my device although the best WM6.5 speed and free memory I have found yet is on Jackos S2 ROM (JackFull) v1.12
Regards,
TF3D 2.1 in Jackos Oldschool consumes less then 18MB of device memory. But it has got about 1300 files in Windows directory, so I do not recommend using SPB Shell on it ;] However a lot of happy users do install this software on it and they're kinda satisfied xD
