I just bought HTC Touch 2. Everything was ok, until I activated ActiveSync together with company Exchange email service.
From this time I always get "unlocking form" when I switch off display.
I checked Activesync setting, and there is configured, that locking code should be requested after 60 minutes.
But it locks just after several minutes of non working, or just after display switch off.
I already downloaded "advanced configuration tool", but still I am not sure, where and what to reconfigure.
Thanks a lot for help
Wrong forum, but anyhow, check the settings menu, lock icon on your phone. When enabled, the device locks automatically upon connection to prevent your data.
I am sorry for wrong forum, just now I realizet that I am on wrong place.
But still, is somehow possible to set it that way, that it locks really after 60 minutes (what is configured in activesync ...)
Its really anoying to unlock every minute the phone.
I asked my friends with another type of HTC and they do not have such problems ...
I have to say, that also my company pushes some policy every 60 minutes, so some temporary solution does not fit for me...

Hey Guys,
I have an issue (not really an issue, but would like some information)
I currently have my phone setup with my work email via microsoft exchange setup through the phone. Now i'm assuming that the certificate that my company uses, requires me to have a password lock on my phone for security purposes. It initiates the password when the phone is not in use for more than 20 minutes. This drives me INSANE! i always have to type in a 4 digit "simple pin" to unlock my phone if i haven't touched it for 20 minutes.
How can i disable this? The menu which i have to setup the pin # doesn't allow me to uncheck enable.
Is there another certificate i can use which doesn't require me to lock the phone?
My friend works for a different company, and uses the same method for email, and i guess their company isn't secure as she doesn't have to use a security pin at all.
Any help would definitely be appreciated!
Thank Guys!/Girls!
I know that having a password forced on you, when you didn't have one before, can be really annoying at first. However, after a bit of time it just becomes normal and isn't really an issue. You are talking a trade off of 2-3 seconds vs. free access to confidential company data/files.
When you first connect to an Exchange 2007 (guessing this is what's being used) system it prompts the phone to make the changes (accept), you don' t have a choice. As you mentioned, having the password feature is "secure" compared to your friends company that "isn't secure". Enterprise users should have passwords enabled. Wanting to bypass it kinda smacks of not caring about your employers rules/policies, security and ultimately others who work at your company.
I know in our environment it would be a violation of company policy and a clear and deliberate breach of it, turning off a security feature. You would be speaking to the IT Manager and Human Resources as soon as caught about your future or lack thereof.
Damn.... i guess your right!
Thanks for the input!
If you do a search you will find a fix which will essentially push the timeout to 24 hours versus the 5-10 minutes that is given normally. This ensures the lock is still present (especially for rebooting and activesynch connect) but you only get bugged to do it every once in a while.
Just search around - you'll find it (I recently changed my registry to have a 24 hr time out.) This is something that Exchange does not check when you synch. If the password is removed then you will get dinged by your admin sooner or later.

nevermind.
i did the following:
HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies/00001023 to value 1
changed that reg entry, and instead of disabling the lock, it actually displayed a 24 hour option, so i chose that instead of disabling it.
thanks for the help guys!
Keep in mind that you really dismiss your company's policy. This might be the cause of serious legal problems.
Furthermore, the device will recheck the policy after some hours, iirc the standard is to check every 24hours
Have fun!

And should your problem return (as your server will probably reinforce it´s policy), have a look at this page: http://www.zenyee.com/?s=stay+unlock
This great tool has been working fine for me on all my WM5/6/6.1 devices....

Do you mean gps or gprs? if your talkin bwt ur gprs its common that a carrier will drop an internet connection when an antenna is full dont worry its not a problem just reconnect
hi
I am talking about GPS....when i connect gps software and it doesnt find a signal it shows that message. i know its not a problem / issue with the phone. i just want to turn that poping messge off as it is annoying and pops up in screen time and again
We are also getting this error message (and we are using GPRS). It has the effect of stopping our application interacting with the internet until the user presses the 'Dismiss' button.
Our application will automatically reconnect when the phone is able to get a GPRS connection. My question is can we stop the message/dialog appearing by capturing the event in our application? (We can't always wait for the user to clear the message)
exactly...its so frustrating clicking that "dismiss" button everytime
Same problem on the HTC Touch Pro.
Same problem here on ATT's stock Rom 1.95.502.5 WWE. It started about two weeks ago when I noticed my phone was dead when I got home from work (which is highly unusual for it to even go below 50% without me running to charge it). I keep noticing "Cannot Connect" bubbles from my [H] data symbol.
Dialed: wap.cingular

The only way I could get rid of the problem was to do a soft reset with the stylus. About a week ago I got really good and disgusted with it and decided that I was going to try a new radio and see if that helps. I went with 12.12.25.19 and the matching .dll file. After doing that the error seemed to go away for 2-3 days. Now starting this past Friday afternoon I'm back to the constant cannot connect bubbles. I'm not even sure what program is trying to connect because MemMaid says none of them are open except TouchFlo!
At least with the new radio I can go into Settings > Communication and toggle in and out of airplane mode which fixes the problem for 30 minutes at a time.
I don't mind the pop-ups, I mind the fact they prevent my screen from fully going to sleep which is killing my battery life! My screen will dim with the pop-ups but it won't go completely off which gives me about 3-4 hours battery life if I don't check it. Now I'm a compulsive phone-checker (I feel like those crackberry addicts) just to keep turing the screen off!
Hi all, I've a very annoying problem with my X1, no matter what ROM I use, always the same effect. Before switching to X1 I had the HTC Touch and disabling data connection by default and activation case by case was a very good battery saving action.
Since I moved on to X1 this of course also saves battery, but in my case from time to time (almost every day) it happens that X1 tries to connect to internet (you know the flying arrows left-right-right-left in the G/E/3G/H Symbol) but it does not suceed and tries and tries, but stops this after about 30 seconds. really really annoying, almost every day you want to shortly check emails, but it does not connect, and you sit and wait and wait,.....
What I already tried is to change PAP to CHAP in advanced network settings, no influence. What is funny, and really works is to reboot, after this when you immediately after reboot connect, it works like a charm...after 2 seconds connected, but waiting some hours, again the same issue.
It also works to switch from 2G/3G to 2G only, or to change the frequency band, the same behaviour as after reboot, but ater some hours again, trying to connect,.....without success.....
I have 1.14, but also tried 1.16 1.17, the same behaviour. I also tried to reg the operators you know CDGCONT=1,.... stuff, but did also not change anything.
Really would appreciate if you have any idea what else I could try.
Maybe some others experienced something similar....
Regards
Norbert
I was using stock V10G rooted, with nova kernel and GPS Fix.
everything was fine but that rom was a bit slow, so i was testing sometimes marvel since v5, only for a few hours just to see performance differences.
When marvel v8 came out, i installed it among with all my new applications from scratch.
I did not use viber and skype yet, so i was closing/opening wifi just to see how far i can go with my battery.
When i found out that battery life was good enough for my needs, i chose in wifi settings to "never" turn off when screen is locked... having all the time my wifi enabled.
The issue appeared, when i was going from home to my office.
At home, my cellphone was connected all the time even when screen off, viber/skype calls incoming anytime... but when i was going to my office, phone wasnt connecting automatically on the new router...!!
Everytime im going from home to work or from work to home, i have to turn on my screen, wait a few seconds and it connects. Sometimes it doesnt connect but only does it when i open wifi settings. Just open settings without touching anything!
Noticed that everytime that happens, it has the old location wifi signals aqquired... and when i open settings after 1 - 2 seconds it refreshes back to the new location and connects.
Anybody has a clue about what's going on?
I've tried stock ROMs / Zeus rom / Marvel rom without success.
Does the secret menu has any settings that might help?
Does it have to do with hardware failure? (no other problems, works like a charm!)
How can i give a logcat to someone who wills to help?
First of all I think this is a question thread so it should go to q&a subforum
You should select "turn off wifi when screen off" setting. Its better for your battery, I've never had that problem when I select that setting but I'm using cm7 the only time it was when the driver had a problem but after the fix now everything is good.
about logcat you can use alogcat app in play store.
FDN
apologies for wrong category posting
My head was about to explode from whole day's work + this frustration
I know that wifi policy to turn off when the screen does, saves battery, but i'd rather charge it everyday and have viber / msn open almost all the time. Let's overlook that though, because i'm in need to have wifi always on and connected when able to (that's the reason of this topic)
I'm gonna try to capture a log and post it... if that helps
are you sure it is not router related? have you tried the same "always ON" option, while in connection with other routers?
Yes of course i have the "always ON" policy of wireless settings menu.
It's not router related, because in the past, 2.2 stock rom, was working flawlessly.
Besides, since then there are no router settings changed! (Both have the same settings since installed)
The thing is, that under Menu -> connectivity -> wifi , the list is not updated if phone is in sleep mode with locked screen.
When i change my location in example and go to my office, it doesnt connect and ONLY does it when i navigate at wifi settings, while the menu refreshes at that exact time it's list with available access points.
Okay, some feedback about this
(i dont see anyone having this issue? Or noone didnt bother about checking it? :S)
I've done many times a factory reset, rom change, etc... that didnt solve my problem.
"Played" with any configuration file regarding power saving settings, wifi settings, etc.
Let my cellphone chill the f*ck out, without battery in for a day LOL
Finally, i rollbacked, at 2.2 official unrooted (V10G).
Changed ALL possible combinations of my 3 routers having stored in wifi settings!
n o t h i n g c h a n g e d !
When phone is in sleep and changes location, doesnt auto-connect in any of those wireless routers! It only does when i get to wireless settings which refreshes the list, or wait with screen on randomly from a few seconds or till infinite (never).
So, last week, 1st June 2012 i've spoken with LG customer care, arranged a courier transfer for service (not in my city) and waited till 6th june when they sent back my phone.
The authorised service, which does the job for LG phones in Greece reported:
"Wifi turns off when screen off, due to power saving policy"
O, RLY you idiots??? Dont you think i dont know it, or i didnt mentioned that on that f*ckin A4 sized page i've typed out to explain CLEARLY my problem?
Or you think im a retard??
Of course, wifi policy is set to "Never"
LG authorized service center (3rd party company) is totally crap.
I'm going to send the phone again tomorrow.
If they still dont fix the issue, then i'll demand a sure fix the hard way!
New to HTC ONE. Desperate to find help here. I have been using the ONE for a week. It was perfectly fine
and snappy, until yesterday.
Yesterday I asked ATT customer service to port my Verizon number to this phone. The number was ported
correctly but here came some problems.
1. I couldn't connect to the internet at company. Wi-Fi could be connected but no internet access. I was told by
colleague to set the proxy. I followed and it worked. Strange thing is that I didn't need to set up the proxy before
the number porting and the company IT website doesn't specify a proxy either.
2. The display seems to be slower. For example, at App Menu, I press "Settings, it then shows "Wireless Networks", etc.
Under it, the Wi-Fi icon was a blue ON. The icon was actually a grey OFF first, for a very short of period of time, then
switched to the blue ON. It wasn't like this before the number porting. Another example of the "slower" display is that
when I switch from the App Menu to a blank home screen (I set a blank page as a home screen), I can see the icon
in the App Menu appear momentarily on the home screen then disappear. I feel it is "the persistence of vision" but
again, it wasn't like this before the number porting.
Although I don't think the number porting could cause these issue, they do happen after that. So do you guys expert
have any insight of what's going on and how I can fix the issues?
By the way, I haven't installed any apps yet and I turned off location service, auto sync, etc.
Any information is very much appreciated!
