After seeing more than a few requests on the board, I figured it was high time to cook up a clean ROM for everyone to use. The purpose in creating it was two-fold. One, I wanted to have a core ROM that wasn't littered with carrier customizations and two I wanted to create a solid base for others to play with.
Cooking up your own ROM can be scary the first time you do it, it's a lot safer to simply mess with tweaking the Extended ROM and leaving the OS and bootloader alone. The Mr. Clean ROM only loads four items (Disable Cert, MMS Folder Creation, MIDlet Java Session Fix and Total Commander) so it's great to use as a base to build on or simply to flash over completely.
As for the ROM itself, I used the core OS from the latest T-Mobile beta ROM (AKU 2.3) and the Radio ROM from the latest Cingular beta ROM (2.25). As many have already noticed, though the two carrier releases share the same version number for their respective Radio ROMs, they are not idential files. The Cingular Radio ROM appears to much better at keeping a signal.
--------------------------
Exact version numbers are as follows:
IPL: 2.24
SPL: 2.24
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.24.10.1
Within the OS, Device Information reports:
ROM version: 2.24.10.1 WWE
ROM date: 4/17/06
Radio version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.24a Mr. Clean
And the OS build is reported as:
OS 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)
--------------------------
I've been testing it out for a few hours now and the build seems to be solid. Boot time is very quick and it appears to acquire a network signal almost immediately.
A2DP is supported natively in the ROM.
Any questions, please post here in the thread. Otherwise I hope this helps all the non-Cingular/T-Mobile users as well as the budding ROM chefs out there!
The ROM is currently on the FTP at:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/MrClean_RUU_WIZARD_224a_AKU23_WWE.zip
Note: 2.24a was uploaded on 6/17/2006 and contains the Java Session fix. Please DISREGARD v2.24 and don't bother using it. If an FTP admin is reading this, please feel free to DELETE MrClean_RUU_WIZARD_224_AKU23_WWE.zip from the safe area. This file supersedes it.
Edit: 4/7/06 v2.24 deleted from safe area (eDsuB)
sweet... This is exactly what I need... Please do keep this going for future ROM releases.
Which Splash screen did you use? I tried to put in my own with an exe I found in another thread, but it doesn't work on this ROM.

aalright now after i install this rom where can i get the proper t-mobile settings? ive looked around and ive seen it once but now i cant find it
ahhh. man. i just upgraded to the tmobile 2.24 last nite becaue i couldnt wait anymore, and now you have this. lol. i would rather a core rom though so i still mite get this
i just install this rom and installed all the cabs of the t-mobile ext rom and well theres one thing the comm manager isnt the same.
it has the same settings int he settings menu like the usb to pc thing just the comm manager is different is there any way to change the comm manager to the new layout.
This is great, thanks.
So what exactly do you do for the MMS folder creation? When I have updated in the past and not run the extended ROM stuff, I didn't have an MMS account. So I had to make a registry change to enable MMS account creation, then create it in the messaging application. Is that basically what you do?
ikkoku - Glad you like it. I'll try to keep it going as new ROM releases ship out. To answer your question about the splash, it's a custom screen.
jacob-mda - Check out the thread listing the functions of the T-Mobile 2.24 Extended ROM. I've listed out the known components in there. If you just want the GPRS/WAP and MMS settings you should be good to go if you grab the following CABs from the T-Mobile ExtROM and install them:
MP_Customization_TMOUSA_Wizard(AKU2.x)_060510.CAB
P_Generic_Conn_Settings.CAB
gizm0luvsu - I'm not sure what you mean when you say the Comm Manager isn't the same. If you're talking about the difference between the old 1.x ROMs and the new, you'll note that the Comm Manager now has seven items in it instead of four. It's going to look a bit different just because of the new functions.

Here, this will only install the T-Mobile GPRS/MMS/IE/OTA settings. (this was made by xelencin on a previous ROM)

Basically. When trying to figure out how to do it, I was pointed to one of the default carrier CABs that does just that -- creates the MMS folder and adds the Java link. So I just used that CAB to do the work.
what i mean is that i know its supposed to look different. when i was using 2.21 it had 5-6 things in it now when i upgraded to this mrclean one it only has the original 4.
but it has the usb-> pc sync and stuff that the new one has
Prophet
does such a rom also excist for the htc prophet??
in my case the orange spv m600 with latest dopod rom.
or is this rom already good to go for prophet users???
could al the people who reply to this post mention on what device the installed it on.
so everybody knows whats going on here.
I know this is the forum for the wizard but allot of programs and upgrade for the wizard are usable on the prophet.
can you tell me if this is possible or not?
thanx

The Comm Manager in the MrClean ROM has seven options in it. Just like the other AKU 2.3 ROMs. If you've only got four options in the Comm Manager you don't have the ROM properly flashed.
I would double check to make sure that the version numbers match what I have posted above. Also, make sure your device is CID-unlocked before trying to flash this ROM.
i actually reflashed my rom and now it does have the 7 thx for the info

I would NOT try to flash this ROM to anything but a Wizard device. I honestly wouldn't know if similar ROMs exist for other devices. Since I only have a Wizard, I can only test things on a Wizard so anything I build is going to be solely for the Wizard (at least until I get my grubby hands on more toys).

Hi, I am total registry noob so I need a help with this.
I want to flash a new rom that dont have operator settings(wap, mms, internet) for orange sk, but the rom I am using now has that.
So the question is: is it posible to backup some registry from this rom and restore it in the new one? If yes, does anybody know what registry I need to backup?
I have never done the settings via registry... I always enter them myself.
This works fine as long as you know what they are. I jsut googled "orange GPRS internet settings sk" and got this:
http://windowsmobilesk.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2C19B58AE653A521!116.entry
It would be worth checking that these match what you have already before you flash a new rom though....

Thanks a lot,
I sorted this problem by copying file: provizion.zip from the older rom(that has the settings) to the new one(that doesnt have the settings). And it worked.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help.
No problem...
Good luck with the ROM upgrade. I am using Duttys UC 5.2.19199 RTM and it is SO much better than the original T-Mobile ROM. Much faster and smoother running.

I am also using Duttys rom. He is the real champ in cooking roms.
I have a Kaiser with radio 1.27.15.32 WWE and I tried to upgrade to the PTG reconstructed ROM WM6 (available on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1586817&postcount=2)
I have followed all instructions to the dot, Hard-SPL, hard resets, etc.
What happened was that the connections menu was now blank - there was no way to add a new connection. Also, Office was missing.
I tried to use the Network Wizard to add a new connection - I added a MediaNET connection and then edited it to use my operator's settings (Claro). The Kaiser then connected but I was not able to surf. IE only gives me the message that the page could not be found.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
I checked forums in Brazil and it seems that some people have faced a similar problem. Could this be a compatibility issue between radio and ROM versions?
I would be most grateful if anyone could offer some suggestions.
Just a guess here - the reference that you gave was to a listing of ROMs that were there on 10/15/2007. That is at least 6 months ago - (a lifetime in ROM cookage).
Since LOTS of problems have been fixed since then, I would recommend that you install a ROM of recent vintage that is still supported by someone?
Not many options, I´m afraid
Yes, I know - unfortunately I havent been able to find any Portuguese ROM besides this one - and I´m not brave enough (at least, not yet) to try to make my own.
But I appreciate your help - thank you for the reply.

Why not install the official 6.1wm rom?

On another "Rogers" thread, it was pointed out to me that this solution would only work if my "ROM has been patched to supported unsigned drivers", which is something I don't know.
See the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347882&page=33
I am actually not using the stock radio rom provided by rogers.
I updated my radio rom to 1.09.25.23
I'm not sure if Dutty in his rom has set the setting for unsigned drivers.
As far as I know, this worked, and was only on a software basis... I've been following the other thread about the raphael and it seems Captain_Throwback only did changed/added some Registry settings to make it work.
On that note, the rilphone.dll was taken out directly out of rogers original rom (the rom that came with the phone)

will this work on other htc wm phones; ie tilt on TOC 6.5; or tytn on wm 6.1??
My guess is that no... but if you're willing to try.. the worst thing that can happen is that you will have to hard reset your phone, but at least if you do try and it works, i mean it can help a lot of people.

CNAP on my Diamond with Roger's Wireless network is working for me after installing this rilphone cab. Thank you D0MZE, Captain_Throwback and the other contributors.
I have found that generally after flashing a new radio, I need to re-install the rilphone cab for the caller name to show up in the call history list. Also, I have assumed that in order to keep the Roger's CNAP functionality, I need to stay with this rilphone until Roger's issues a newer version. I also don't really like hard resets so I'm being conservative about flashing. So for now, as I experiment with newer radios, I keep using the rilphone cab provided in this thread.

You can use diff radios with the CAB, but just that sometimes functions in the radio arent implemented in the rilphone.dll which kinda sucks.
For now it will take time until rogers releases another windows mobile phone, so... my opinion is that we're going to have to wait.
Damn rogers.
Concerning the @ sign, it's normal, it just means that the name is longer than what the phone can take.
Has anyone tried this on a tilt with a custom ROM? Tempted to try this...

Hello everybody,
i've a little problem since I installed EnergyROM Xperia 23001 Standard.
Phone is: SE Xperia X1i
OS is: WM 6.5 Build 21820
Manila: 2.1.38403.2
Radio: 1.16.25.48
I am from Germany so i set my timezone to GMT+1 Berlin.
Now the problem:
Every SMS I receive has a wrong timestamp (2 hours in the future), every SMS i send has the right timestamp. Example:
Me (20:30): Answer me in 5 minutes...
You (22:35): Okay!

I already read about the following fixes and applied them:
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\TrustTimeZoneField = 0x00000000(0)
HKLM\Software\OEM\SMS\RecvTimeStamp = 0x00000000(0)
DST-Fix from Microsoft: not available for WM 6.5
Another thing is the SMS popup that is displayed when I receive a SMS: It says "Message from Network" (not Message from [Name] ) and when I press accidentally "Dismiss" the SMS is deleted. (Maybe that error is connected to the timezone problem)
I created a new thread for this problem because I read a lot about this in most ROM threads but I couldn't find a solution.
How can I solve my problem and is it possible that it's the fault of the radio upgrade?
Thanks in advance

This seems to be related to the rillphone.dll driver from radio 1.16, try using the radio with the stock rillphone.dll.
If you don't have the rillphone.dll installed that came with the 1.16 radio, try another radio.

hey man, i tired tornado storm, and that's the only rom with the correct time stamp, however, i didnt like it at all, so after a few hrs i flashed to Touch IT Leo 3 , tho this one looks good, it HAS WAY TOO MUCH problem, extremely buggy. the only reason I tried custom rom is to fix the time stamp problem but after so many different ones, I realize the factory Xperia has the best interface and worked so MUCH BETTER than anything on any site. I wish I could go back. haha
oh the other thing I think might work but wasn't able to is to flash the phone to Canadian Official rom, that way the phone would be synced with the local network and specs. I tried to do that but all of the official roms are in Img file instad nbh, and I have no way to convert the files, dont know if anyone could help. cheers.

SMS Problem
Hi there,
I have the sme problem, I have a Canadian ROM and I have the same problem when receiving SMS.
The SMS time stamp show the time in the future (like if I was in Europe)
I had a P1 before and I had exactly the same problem..
Try this SMS Timestamp fix cab. I also have a Canadian phone.
