hey everybody,
I have been reading trough the forums here, finding information about hard spl and rom flashing. most things look pretty good and it seems like most of the problems that people experience about the flashing process have been solved, but one thing I notice too, is that a couple of people who have flashed thier phones, have had issues with their hardware keyboard, so I would like to know if this can be connected to the hard-spl or the flashing process.
no the keyboard problem is 100% due to bad quality manufacturing (if your talking about the double letters etc.)
otherwse its because of the ROM your flashing containg EZinput that still uses HTC's T9, its easily fixed! (if your talking about FN keys typing wrong things)
ok many thanks for the reply, and happy new year by the way.
I was just unsure since nobody ever discribed thier keyboard problems more spicifc so I got a little bit nerveurs about. but again many thanks for the reply.
I have seen that some people have problems with the symbol button, but can this problem be rom specific, and one more thing, might you be able to tell me more about this problem: EZinput that still uses HTC's T9, its easily fixed! (if your talking about FN keys typing wrong things). in case i run into it.
kayboard
I flashed custom rom last week 1st time in my life and had problem with keyboard.
this work for me and now I've valkyrie rom with keyboard in my language.

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my o2 xda stellar where I can be typing a message on the hardware keyboard but even though I'm hitting all of the keys correctly its still missing the odd letter - it seems as if its simply not picking it up. I've disabled the word suggestion feature and this has helped a little but the problem still remains. Its driving me bonkers!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Yes, it's one of the things that made me regret buying this f****** phone in the first place.
Read this, might help you to a certain extent.

I've never installed that although it does look like and interesting concept.
I found disabling word suggest worked to improve the recognition rate. Still have to be careful with the first word I type, but otherwise it is ok. Might give it a try with autocorrect off (but I like it auto-adding the ' in nt).
The same thing happened on my Hermes and my Wizard (both of which I turned suggest off on), so I wasn't surprised that the Kaiser did it (although it was almost tolerable with autocorrect on, which the Wizard really really wasn't).
I've tried the suggestions in this thread and the other linked thread but with no success. My hermes used to do this, but when I upgraded to the WM6 beta it seemed to fix the problem on that device. I've not tried the 6.1 roms - can anyone comment on whether the problem is still evident on those? (I'm guessing it will be).

I think its still there, the problem that I was having was if I were to type "this is a test" I exprienced delays with my spacebar...it would spell out
"thisi sa t est". and it would do it EVERY single time. I later found out that it was directly tied into HTC Keyboard and Keypad b/c once I removed this, it wouldnt do it anymore. (Looks like TouchPal for me). However, on Dutty's Beta 1 I didn't experience this problem, but other WM6.1 roms I did. Of course with Dutty's I had to jump through hoops to get the keyboard and Touch Keypad to work cooperatively and maybe this "fixed" it...who knows. BTW I have the Tilt version of the Kaiser.
Hello fellow Kaiser users,
I don't know if this happened only with me or others have experienced the same.
TyTN II keys on the QWERTY after a year of use has some keys responding after the 2nd or 3rd stroke of the key.
Did anyone else experience this?
Is there a solution?
It is really bugging me when I'm typing an SMS or typing something down.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Hardware suggestions also I will try on my own risk.

Same problem here, but I started noticing it after 4/5 months of use. Would like to know about a solution also.
I feel your pain, this is what is really killing me because the keyboard is a very big part of the phone, and I've only been using it for 7 months. If i knew it would become this unresponsive i would of got an i phone because this phones on screen keyboard and transcriber is useless.
It happened to me after 7 months. The "c" key on my tilt started to become unresponsive so I called up at&t and had it warranty exchanged for a refurb. This second one was already even worse than the one I'd just sent back, so I had them send out another one. This third one is fine, although the "c" key (again, oddly enough) doesn't click like the others. It's responsive, but feels a little different. I didn't feel like going through the exchange process again, so for now I'm living with it.
My 1 month old refurb tilt doesn't type the keys when I press them sometimes. I should have that fixed. I thought it was a software problem...
My brand new XPS M1530 does the same thing sometimes. I guess I reckoned it was just me not pressing on the keys hard enough or something like that...
So I'm not the only one with the problem...
But no solution?!
Even a hint of what might be causing this would help..
have you guys tried using the disable XT9 cab ?
yes
I think it is H/W cleaning related
How to clean is the deal...
you can find disassembling guides on mikechannon's web. just follow the disassembling instructions and after you remove keyboard, try cleaning it.
Same problem for me.
I'm always very carefull with my device, and don't use the hardware keyboard very often.
Now for some letters I really have to press harder to make them work.
I have my device for only 6 or 7 months.
Have had my Kaiser for 6 months now and the Y and B keys are starting to go out. For the past couple weeks I have been considering sending it in for warranty exchange but I have taken very good care of my Kaiser and worry about what I would get back...
Anyone eager enough tried disasembling and cleaning?
Moreover, did it work?
funny thing here is that I get more unresponsiveness in the right side of the keyboard (enter; L; P; direction keys).
It is a real pain...
Most prolly will do it soon
Will let you all know of the outcome
Same here.
Had mine 8 months, the W key is worst, takes a really heavy press to get it to work, has been like that for about 5 months.
Now the B is also getting bad, so is the S.
If i'm likely to get a refurb back i guess i'll just put up with it until my contract is up.
I'm facing the same problem on my HTC herald. HTC keyboard quality has gone way down. I never faced such problem when I had htc universal.
Hey man,
since you had quite some ppls share of PPCs;
did you disassemble any of them before?
Do you think it's a good idea to do it myself?
I'm extra careful normally but I'm having doubts

Similar problems here with my Tilt. FN, CAP/SHIFT, N are all problematic for me.
Has anyone tried a spray liquid electronic "contact cleaner" on a device like this before?
Weird
Oddly enough, I have had this problem a little bit with mine as well. However mine is the space bar. I, like many others I am sure, have hopped from ROM to ROM. When I changed ROMs the last time, it seemed to fix the issue. It was really weird because a lot of the times I would type something, and the letters would turn out something like this:
Iw antt oe at atj oes.
Like I said, I just swapped ROMs and it seemed to fix it. maybe the t9?

You are correct sir! Just run "disable xt9" (found plenty of places on the kaiser forum) and your problem should be fixed.
I too have had this problem. I noticed it with the d, r, and space bar keys. Interestingly enough the keys that i press often (Take A for example [I have it mapped to the A button in PocketNesterPlus]) aren't hard to press at all. What I'm trying right now is pressing the problem keys over and over again to see if they "loosen up". Best Case Scenario: It works. Worst Case Scenario: I ruin an expensive piece of equipment.
Update: This might be working. To test which keys were unresponsive i typed abcdefghijklmnop.... without exerting any extra effort. The keys w and r didn't show up so i kept working them. I repeated the test and I got r to work. perhaps i am unknowingly pressing r harder, or perhaps not.
I´ve had the Diamond for about a month now, and in general I´m pretty happy with it. After resolving the lost calls issue when fishing it out of it´s case with S2U2 S2A funktion almost everything works as it should - except one important thing. The screen allignment goes haywire - sometimes several times a day and sometimes it works for several days without adjusting.
I´ve looked in this forum and haven´t been able to find anything, however on the Danish Mobildebat forum it is a wellknown issue. No one hase really come up with a solution other than get the thing exchanged. Maybe.
But is it just the Danish Diamonds that have the problem or is it a general issue. If it is just the Danish units, then can it be a conflict with HW and the danish ROM?
I have the original Danish 1.93.403.2 ROM.
Anyone have any input - or preferably a simple solution.

I'm stuck with the same thing. I've got a MDA Vario III.
I hope there's someone out there who can fix this. it's very irritating.
Thanks in advance.
BTW. The lag is everywhere in the phone (touch-screen-keyboard, softbuttons, hardbuttons, etc... )

Already discussed in the sticky p) Speed Up Your Keyboard (Fixes Lag On Hardware Keyboard) thread. There is a cab there but in my experience it may interfere with multimedia playback.
try that long time ago without lucky... regards!
As some get older a few keys will get harder. There is about four keys on mine that I really have to press hard for it to register. Its a known problem, I read about it several times.
More info needed to progress

If you've only tried the reg edits as you mentioned in your first post, try the cab because your symptoms are identical and it definitely made a difference on my device to keyboard responsiveness and I see no reason why it should be any different at all with yours. Of course that won't fix sticking or faulty keys, only replacement parts will do that but unless it's usually the same letters that don't respond (is it?), that's unlikely to be the issue. What else have you already tried (specifically)?
UPDATE, CABS, dont Work, but i am tring without auto completetion and lower suggested words.... i give 2 or 3 days then cook my room like that
worked perfectly for me!
thanks a million!
i reduce suggested words to 1, get the reg key for windows mobile 6.1 in spanish from my own ROM, then cook it again, work almost perfect... so i can say "WORK DONE"
Hey everyone,
My problems consists of:
- The screen/touch is off. I've done Screen Alignment, it works for a couple hours or so then it just starts to have a mind of its own again
- When I slide the keyboard out, the screen does not rotate, it's just frozen in portrait mode. However, responds to the keys I push on the keyboard, I've tested it by texting someone.
The ROM I was using was a Generic NAM R3A WM6.1 when this problem occured, tried to re-flash with the same ROM, no luck and finally a custom one (Touch X 10.8) and unfortunately, still no luck.
I've never dropped the phone or done any modifications to it. Am I doomed and will have to send the phone in for repairs or is there another way to fix all this?
Thanks

If I were you, I'd have it back in the shop in no time. But you will need to put back the original rom, otherwise your guarantee will be gone.
Good luck!
Don't forget to revert the SPL since you flashed it to hard SPL.
If You make a new topic then it's pointless to use not at all informative cries for help. It does not say anything about the problem you are having.
The title should say something about the issue so people who know something about notice it and can offer to help and people having the same issue later can find this topic.
Sorry, I'm new to this message board and not really around either.
