HELP: Untampered with diamond BRICKED?SOD? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello to all you fine folks at xda.
I am not entirely new to your site but decided to register so I could post this thread since I am in need of your help.
I have already read hundred of threads on bricked/frozen/sod/... touch diamonds, but my situation seems to be unique.
So I have had my diamond for about 2 years now but haven't been using it for the last 6 months because of a sudden brick.
First of all you should probably know that I never tried to tamper with any soft or hardware of this phone so it may be considered a clean phone .. no romming no tweaking no installing of doubtable software etc..
When it bricked my diamond was in normal use (can't remember exactly what I was doing at the time but I think I was just texting to som1..). It suddenly went to black screen .. turned itself off.
I tried power button.. nothing
I tried red reset button at the back.. nothing
I tried power+vol down+center.. nothing
I tried charging.. nothing (not even circular light around the middle button).
I tried hooking it up to my pc.. nothing(no charging signs, not even a pop up on my pc that i connected a usb device)
I tried leaving the battery out for a while and re-inserting.. nothing
I tried a full charge overnight.. nothing
I tried slamming it into my head.. headache and nothing else..
So because all of the other threads about bricked diamonds seem to be about tampered with diamonds, I am wondering if there is a standard solution or other way that I can get my brick running smoothly again?
Hope I find tons of your answers and tips below!
Best regards and thanks in advance, Sam.

Bricked diamond
Two years is a long time for the battery life to be over. have you tried changing it?

No I haven't do they die that easily nowadays ? my other phones non pda all did much longer with their batteries..? What does a new battery cost me? thanks...

Why don't you go to a repair center or send it in for repair? You obviously didn't do anything that caused the malfunction, so why don't you give it a go.
In Europe you have a standard 24 months warranty on the device; hopefully you're in time.
Good luck

Kaiser 4 Colours of Death Again - HELP!

I've just got my phone repaired 2 days ago due to same problem and its dead again. It's showing me 4 colours bars, unable to boot or switch off. Please see attached photo.
Technician Notes on the Service Repair Job Card says " Reconnected Flexes, Loaded New Software and Passed all tests."
Whatever Flexes means? Hardware circuit board problem? Anybody knows whats that?
Its going to be another 2-3 weeks wait for Three Sydney to repair it....sigh....
I'm unable to find similar reported problem online. Anyone, please advice. It died when it shows nothing on the screen with blinking green light. I've not done any flashing or mod of any kind, its a 4 month old phone.
the flexes are what connects the screen/other hardware on the sliding face to the main board on the part that does not slide. Seems like your kaiser is putting itsself into bootloader for some reason. if you have knowledge of mtty maybe running some mtty commands would tell us more of why it seems to like to erase its on memory lol... there is a whole section in the wiki on mtty and I thread I believe also try contacting POF or OLI they have vast knowledge about the works of the kaiser
Thanks for the tips austinsnyc, after leaving it on with the bootloader screen for the whole night until it drain the batt completely, I was able to boot up again while charging.
I'm still interested to know why would it suddenly just go to bootloader screen, i'll read up on mtty.
Cheers,
JK
lol, you might have been fine if you just did a soft reset. but still that doesnt solve the issue of why it went into bootloader in the first place
Thanks for reminding about the soft reset, I tried that when it happen for the very first time I had this problem. That didn't help either and I had to send in for repair.
Whats the purpose of the bootloader anyway? In what situation would it appear normally?
you can manually place your device into bootloader by holding the camera button and then reset. a device going into bootloader out of the blue is usually never a good thing........unless maybe there was a situation where the camera button was somehow held down while your device restarted.

Diamond powers off on its own...

Hi all,
I searched everywhere here but could not fnd any suitable answer...
Here's my problem:
My brand new Touch Diamond regularly shuts off, I mean it powers itself off on its own after three to four days of use, even if the battery is fully loaded...
After that, most of the times, I have to take the battery out then replace it, otherwise it won't start. Sometimes, a soft reset would do the trick.
A great lack of reliability, since you actually don't know when you phone has powered off... I let you iamgine how many missed calls I've been through...
Any suggestion, I mean except for a hard reset ? Faulty battery? WM 6.1 malfunction?
I have no running apps in the background, it is not plugged to USB or anything. It just cuts power and stays like that...
Thanks for any input,
Cheers from South of France!
I can't help you but i have the same problem sometimes. It just turns off and won't turn on by pressing the power button again. To get back to normal i also have to take out the battery!
BTW that phone is pretty buggy anyway. i really hope there is gonna be an update by htc real soon.
I seem to have the same problem. Has anyone of you found a solution or course?
I have to do a battery pull to restart the mda compact 4. It happens 10 times a day.
BTW: I have a T-Mobile MDA compact IV

you have to hard reset the device and reflash with the official ROM

Hi, Hakim Rahman,
You´re wrong. There is no solution for this problem. I´m searching almost 2 years for help. My touch diamond was in guarantee when the problem appears. I returned the phone back, but the guys from the service said, the phone have been wet, although it was always dry in my pocket...
What should I say, HTC is the worst producer of pocket PCs, that´s all.
Actually I´ve already tried another ROMs...
problem seems to be solved
I have done a HARD reset on the phone 4 days ago. It seems to be stable now.
I had a Manilla skin installed as well as a prog that used the built-in gyroscope. Perhaps those were unstable...
Now they have been erased and the phone is back into its original configuration.

"Volume down"-key not working at all

Hey Guys,
I think I did a thorough research on that issue, but could not find any hints as how to solve it.
Background: I planned on flashing my ROM and thus first of all tried to get it on HardSPL. After some connection trouble I finally got it on (though the progress bar jumped from 0% to 100% instantly after like 1 minute instead of the indicated 10... is that normal?)
I then tried to reboot holding POWER+VOLUME DOWN, but it booted just regularly. Conclusion at this point: It is not on HardSPL. So I kept repeating, but never succeeded, until recently I noticed neither my VOLUME UP nor my VOLUME DOWN button works at all. Never, not matter how hard, gently or desperately I push - no reaction.
So apparently it is a physical problem. Does anymore know it? Ideas? In another forum I read that some Palm Pre users suffer from this issue on their devices. They advised to take out the battery and leave the phone in a bag of rice for 24 hours, as it is an issue of humidity.
Now if I think ahead - I do not even have a bill, but could probably get it form the seller - if I send it to SE as a case of warranty, they will certainly/probably see the HardSPL and send it right back.
Pretty srewed thing, huh? Anyone solved this problem so far?
Thanks in advance.

QHSUSB_DLOAD, Dead Phone, Stock OS

My GFs HTC One, for the second time now (two different phones), has gone dead out of nowhere.
The first time she plugged it in and went to bed. All was well with it when it was plugged in. Woke up and nothing worked. No charging lights, nothing. Sent it in for warranty repair and T-Mobile/HTC said that the LCD screen was broke and that it was due to user damage (basically trying to say the phone was dropped, which it wasn't). They sent out a new phone, we sent back the broken one. A week later they charged our bill for the repairs and I had to call in 3 times in order to get them to finally waive those charges.
Now, a few months later, this new phone does the same thing. In the middle of using it, while it had plenty of battery, the screen went black. Same exact thing, would not power back on. Now we are in the process of waiting for the next phone to be shipped so we can ship this one back. And I'm fairly certain that they're going to try and use the same excuse again.
The only response that we get from the phone is when it is plugged into a computer and it asks to install the QHSUSB_DLOAD driver (which does nothing upon trying to install). After searching these forums, and Google, I noticed that everyone with this exact problem was trying to install a custom ROM. That is not the case with us. The OS on the phone's were never altered. The phone's were never unlocked. Nothing like that at all.
I don't really have a question that I'm asking here. From what I've read, it looks like the phone is basically bricked and there's nothing that can fix it. I just wanted to make this post so others know that this can happen to non-rooted phones too.
I'll follow up here once T-Moble/HTC give me the outcome of this second phone.
Exact same problem here.

QHSUSB_DLOAD = hard brick, needs motherboard to be replaced
Had same thing with HTC Sensation. Need to replase the main memory chip where OS stored.
Time for a new girlfriend, not a new phone.

Z3C temporary dead?

So I got my Z3C about a month now. 6 weeks ago I thoughed my phone broke, suddenly it was dead. It looked like it was bricked, but I didn't do anything with it. There was no charging light, no fibrating on a hard reset, nothing. There was not even a connection with the adb.
So I send it to a repair point and they fixed it for me. I had no idea what that do, but I was happy with it.
Yesterday it happend again and I was pretty angry. A 3 month phone broke twice! I contacted the store, because I want a new one and not another repair, because i have no faith in another repair.
Now here comes the thing. Today I tried my phone again and suddenly it was working again.
You might think I should be happy, but I'm absolulty not, because now it is hard to prove there is something wrong with my device.
I suspect the repairpoint didn't fix anything, because it was working again at that point. So they just did a factoryreset
Has anyone experienced something like this or has any clue what the problem is?
Thanking in advance.

first of all you should make it clear If it s software problem (which level of software) or hardware
to get this u can Repair Xperia firmware by PCC to install fresh firmware
after that if problem remains u can be sure that problem is in hardware and ask for replace
in repair center they may just install new rom and return it so just ask for replacement
:good:
I k now this post is a little old but I have the same problem. After 6 weeks of flawless use my Z3C suddenly died. Nothing would bring it back to life. I spent several hours on the phone to sony support to no avail. We tried numerous manual and computer related fixes to no avail (including flashing a new stock rom which didn't work because no phone could be detected). Finally the tech gave up and said to return to return it to where I bought it. I was in the process of doing that when suddenly the phone worked again when I pressed the power button. battery charge was showing as 74%. Unfortunately I didn't do a factory reset while I had the chance.
This afternoon I didn't use the phone for 3 hours and now it's dead again. Nothing will wake it up again.
To me it sounds like a hardware fault, not software. This is a near new phone. This shouldn't be happening. I've searched the net and found numerous others having the same problem and in every case it has resulted in a replacement phone. Unfortunately my phone seller is a long way away. I guess that will teach me to buy local and pay and bit more.
Any suggestions please as I'm desperate.
I'm also in the same boat where my g/f Xperia Z3C just died and unfortunately the phone is out of warranty as it was a grey import and not local Aussie stock.
I have tried everything to get it working. When it does switch on it doesn't last more than a few hours before it goes back to a permanent coma.
I've wiped the rom and started from scratch when it was working with the Sony Xperia Repair centre but with little success.
I was left with little choice but to take it to a repair centre to find any faults with the hardware but I'm not feeling that confident they can fix the phone without replacing the whole board which isn't worth it.
Same thing.
Hello,
Today my phone shut downs itself and i realized it after 2-3 hours. Can't force reboot with volume up + power or the yellow button near the sim slot. Also no leds working to confirm if it takes electricity or not.My phones screen changed about a month ago due to having volume changes in 3.5 mm jack while listening music.Funny thing is i gave my phone for that same reason 8 months ago and they did not changed the screen and when i asked why you changed the screen, the lady said because 3.5mm jack is together with the screen(which i do not believe).I am hoping for device to wake up like jesus...
Edit: Does android have a log that reports every incident like windows does?If so how can i access it to see why my phone decided to die and ressurected by itself?I can't get this device to technical service cause it is fine now but i want to make sure it does not happen again.
