Can anyone help? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a g1 and it is rooted. I had everything going great then my wife took it over and now it will not show the battery. Its shows 0% even though the battery is charged. I have tried several batteries. I have since went from danger spl to regular. I have changed to several different roms I was going to try to unroot but it will not let me flash DREAIMG due to it says the power sources not sufficient. I also wiped the battery stats from the recovery and nothing. I can get it to stay on when plugged up but as soon as I take it off the charge it dies. I am out of ideas. If anyone has any idea I can try I am willing. So feel free to send ideas.

It sounds like your battery is bad, call HTC and ask them to send you a new one.

Both batteries are good. Both have been tested in other G1s and work great.

Then something is bad on your phones hardawre side, have you ever dropped it, gotten it wet, etc.?

Does you lady/you take it in the bathroom with you when you take a shower? When you wiped the battery stats, was it a full battery or empty battery in the phone?

The first time I did it it was full charge. but to no avail. I tried that then leaving it on with the charger in thinking it would eventually reset itself but that didn't work either.

Do other batteries work in your phone?

Does the phone get taken into the bathroom when a shower or bath is being taken? Was it left in the car for an extended period, ie longer than an hour?

Check the battery connections, they have been known to go bad.

Then it is your phones battery connectors. As to answer your question, when plugged in the phone switches to ac power instead of battery, this can be seen when you take out the battery, plug your phone in, and turn it on.

Its not rooted and is completely stock gingerbread!
i googled everywhere and no solutions. you guys are my last hope! PLS HELP!
Bro try a new full battery,it work for me...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You can also try leaving the phone plugged in and trying to remove and reinsert the battery until it turns on.
the battery was alright till the day before. you really think that might be the issue?
The HTC guys said something must be up with the flex wire or something . anybody now bout that.?

It could be a faulty power button (it happens a lot). Read this:

If it was a bad flex cable, it means that your power button would stop working. My suggestion was because I thought your power button went bad. If it didn't work, it is probably related to the battery or some other hardware issue. I can't remember, does the N1 function without a battery if left plugged in?

nope. it just shows the orange light while charging. but refuses to come on. :\
Is there any way to find out for sure if power button is broken without sending it to HTC centre first ?
Well, if you battery is completely toast AND your power button doesn't work, I don't know if you would be able to get it to turn on by removing and reinserting the battery while the phone is plugged in.

Well, depending on what all you wanna throw at it, you can pick up some cheap batteries off amazon for $10-$20. Who knows how long they will last, and who knows if they are actually related to your problem, but for that amount, it may be worth it to try.

hehe. i will make the service fellows try a spare battery in front of me for free instead .
He said that if it recently fell (which it most probably did) then the flex wire might be dislocated fixing which is 5$ (250 INR) . If its broken then it will be 42$ for replacement. Will get it checked up tomo mostly.
Those prices seem really reasonable. I think the flex boards for the power button go on ebay for around $40. Sounds like a great company!

[Q] How can one tell if this phone is fully charged?

The title says it,don't tell me somethin like "look at the top right of your screen" cause I offline charge it. Now I turn off the phone, plugged in the charger, yay its charging. 5 hours later I go check on da phone,WTF? It doesn't say anything, the battery logo with the lighting icon is still da same! So how can you tell if its fully charged? Cause It never says anything. And don't tell me to turn it on and see if its a 100%.
Now that's pretty odd. Hmm, maybe its nothing. Try this,if you are running on an old firmware install the latest from the update centre,if you already are using the latest firmware try resetting it,not just the settings but with the data being wiped as well.

Talk about paranoia, just use it normally, don't turn it off, unless you're planning to keep the phone for the next 10 years. It _might_ have made a difference in the past with the _old_ batteries, but with LiPo it makes little difference.
Safe yourself the trouble.
I thought the phone has a Li-Ion not Li-Po.

There is no way of telling short of changing the way the notification light works for charging and I wouldn't even know where to start with that. Just leave it on, the XZ charges (with official charger) in like under 2 hours anyway, you're only making things difficult for yourself.

[Q] Cellphone restarting like nuts

Hello, i've got today an S3 MINI here with a strange issue, the cellphone when using it normally from all sudden it reboots and starts a weird scenario that doesn't boots up until a charger is plugged, when this happens shows an 75% 80% battery level (aprox) and the device works for a few hours normally and then it drops again.
Tried FACTORY RESET, no go... What's the next step on the issue??
Thanks!

Having issues suddenly with my droid turbo not responding after going dead

So I was using my phone and was running low on battery power. My ended up dying at like 5% as usual with my droid turbo. I was with my friend in his girlfriends car and plugged it into her cheap charger she picked up at a gas station or something. My phone registered the charger and then began the battery symbol like usual although it never got to the battery percentage, it just stayed as a gray battery symbol with the lightning bolt. After a while the phone screen went black and wouldn't respond to anything and figured that the charger just made the phone go dead and that I could plug it into a Verizon charger to make it work again. When I got home I plugged it in and nothing, no response at all not even the green light at the top of the phone. I plugged it into my computer and it shows up on device manager as QHSUSB_BULK. Now to be clear my phone was never rooted or had anything done to it. The phone was completely stock. I need help frantically because I need to get some media off of the phone if at all possible, whatever the cost. Not sure if just letting it charge for a while will help or not. Thanks for the help in advance.
If you plug it into your home charger it should turn on at least and show the battery symbol when charging and it should go up if you haven't tried it already. If it doesn't, sounds like some kind of charging issue.

The phone doesnt respond at all to any commands. The green light doesn't even pop up as if thebphone was clear dead. Took it to Verizon they thought the battery might be fried which I guess would keep the phone from turning on.
That is entirely possible. When I buy after market chargers, I generally only buy anker stuff. I've never had a problem with their stuff. Get what you pay for. Not that you bought that but yeah.

Yeah I definitely learned a lesson. Is there any way I can get the data off of it though? Would Motorola recover the data for me or is there some way? The data should all still be there considering there were no deletion processes. Of course maybe im wrong but I just hope I can get everything recovered.
It's possible if it will connect to your computer and you can read it but otherwise I'm not sure
Assuming the charging port is damaged you could try a wireless charger.

If you try a Qi wireless charger, that would give it the chance to actually charge. Maybe some circuitry in the USB port is damaged and it's not receiving a charge. You actually have the phone, so you know better. But wouldn't hurt to go to a store and try putting it on a Qi charger for a few minutes as a test. When my phone is OFF and I put it on a Qi charger, it actually turns it on, boots the phone.
That is definitely a thing to try. If your computer can read it then you can easily save the files off the phone.
I'll have to give that QI a try. People st Verizon probably didn't even think of that.
How would I go about getting the data off of it though? The phone doesnt show up on computer just shows up in device manager under the code I wrote in the first post.

I tried the QI charger and it did not work. Thr light on the Verizon pad flashed red. Thr battery has got to be fried. So im not exactly sure what to do next.
Well, you can always get a new one through insurance or through swappa. I get that it's the stuff you want to save though. Might not be able to if your computer can't see it as a SD card unfortunately.

So there's no way you guys can think of to get this data off? I could use all the help I can get
Even if you tore yours apart and found the memory chip, it's soldered onto the board. I know because I've opened my turbo to do repairs and it's not hard but not easy. Maybe, just maybe, if you had the sophisticated equipment you could apply the proper voltage to be able to read the card, assuming you could find the + and - pins on it and then also the transmit pins on it and solder yourself a usb cable to direct connect to it to the computer, that might work but would be extremely complicated. I'm a professional electronics technician and I test, build, and repair boards but not phones. I do surface mount work though. Anyways, got off topic. So unless you got that going for you, I don't see it happening.
One last thought, do you have Motorola drivers installed on your PC? Could help. Don't know.

There are youtube guides out there on how to replace the battery in this phone. It's not easy, but it's probably easier than finding the storage chip and figuring out a way to build a new physical interface to access it. New battery = resurrected phone = get your data back. Maybe.
https://youtu.be/VHFkTgjWzOo
Yeah that's also probably a lot easier than all that. The battery isn't too hard to replace. I totally over thought that.

Wont boot up?

Hi guys,
I'm having issues with my Mi mix where it just shut down by its self and will no longer boot up anymore, it will load the Mix logo for a few seconds (after the initial Mi one) before shutting down. I can access the recovery, and have tried flashing a new rom, as well as fastbooted the original rom on. Is there any way to fix this?
Also, when plugging in the charge cable it will show charging, but stuck on 67%, it doesnt go above that with overnight charging.
Cheers,

Well maybe unplugging battery for a while may sort it, watch a teardown before attempting, I suspect the battery is actually flat and needs charging but it's stuck in some weird situation. You didn't say wether it was rooted with TWRP.
