I am not sure what radio version I am using, due to the fact I got my phone off ebay already had Cyanogen on it =l.
Question: Will my phone be bricked if I flash the latest radio and hard spl again?
Sorry if this is a stupid question I just don't want to end up like the other poor suckers who bricked their phone.
To confirm wich radio you have, turn on the phone pressing the camera buttom, and if you got 2.22.19.26I on the top, you have the latest radio, and you can flash the Danger SPL without problems.
okay, thank you very much =)

Hello
I am updating the radio version to the latest version 2_22_19_26I, but it seems the phone function works not well. I can not hear any sound from the phone and ear phone except the speaker.
Can the Radio be downgraded ?
Thank you in advance.

I believe it can be downgraded just fine, but as the old radio was meant for 1.1 (non-cupcake) and you're probably running a 1.5 so intheory it should cause problems. If you have Haykuros special SPL that needs the new radio and you downgrade you will brick, so the SPL needs to be downgraded. AFAIK you would just flash it with alt-s, but I'd wait for someone else to confirm that.
If your using Meltus's audiohack, that could be the problem.
I would like to know the answer to this, I lose the signal most days and have to reset to get it back.
But I want to be 100% sure I am not gonna brick the phone before I downgrade the radio
Well first, you should also post what SPL you have. The more the information the better.

Yes having info in the post or your set up in the sig like xsnipah and i have helps with troubleshooting alot
I was just wondering myself, I didn't brick when I flashes somehow by the grace of God. I updated the radio on accident through the JF updater when I was running 1.5 with the old radio.
I'm sorry but i don't really understand the question.
It seems like you didn't brick because you installed the radio first, and you did things right.
double post sorry.
I'm still a noob but this is what I remember reading in a few threads all over. I don't know if there was a definitve cause found. I do remember that the concensus (sp) is that most of the phones that had problems seemed to be of the "dvt" type as apposed to the "pvt" type. I don't know what the difference is (I'll be looking it up), but, you can find out what yours is by booting to the bootloader (press cam+power). You'll get a screen with androids on skateboards. You will see either pvt or dvt. Mine is pvt. I had no problems with the "Danger" SPL.
Oh... And most of the pvt problems were probably caused by not updating the radio before adding the new SPL.
o i c. like i said i had no issues with it. and i knew that updateing the spl b4 the radio will make you brick. i was wondering what would cause that
i think he is asking because next to the download it says it has caused bricks
It has to do with the boot order 1. radio > 2. spl > 3. boot.img. Without the right radio then the spl can't load causing the phone not to boot.
I tried to install a different radio and it just stopped my phone and now my phone is in a screen where it shows a box and arrows pointing into a phone!? What is this I need to get my phone working again!! No buttons work, i tried to take out my battery and it keeps coming back! PLEASE HELP
and I cant get into the recovery screen either!!
please help me im so desperate!!
What radio did you flash? Your sig says you are running a hero rom, the danger SPL requires the new radio, if you flashed an older radio under the danger SPL you bricked your phone and there is no hope for repair.
i was rooting a friends g1, i missed a step n tried flashing a rom without having the danger spl installed first, i cant get into my spl menu by holding camera and power nor can i get into my recovery nor can i get into adb... my phone turns on and stays at the g1 logo... any advice?
bricked.. look in the development section for un-bricking guides... although it'll cost some money i think.. i'll look for one myself and post back with a link

Just because the phone is rooted doesn't mean it is magical and can't be bricked. You have to have the latest radio before you can flash the danger SPL. Depending on which method you used(likely RC29 method) that radio would not be anywhere close to what is needed. And, yes, once you flash the danger SPL without the newest radio, you have a brick and no way getting back from it.
Hopefully your friend is understanding and it isn't a major disaster getting a replacement G1 for him.
Flash Danger SPL without Latest Radio = Bricked.
I hope that your friend can get a replacement without much complications, because that one is screwed.
You could give him your phone...
the phone already had the newest radio installed... it was a brand new G1.. =X did i still have to flash it with the radio on this forums?

Most likely yes usually when something is brand new it was manufactured months ago. Its unlikely that it included the proper radio. try blaming your friend lol good luck!

Brand new or not, most every root method has you downgrade to RC29, which takes you back to a radio that is about a year old now.
ok here's what i did. downgraded a new phone to rc29. applied amon's latest recovery. flashed latest radio (2.22.23.2). flashed danger spl. haven't even had the choice of putting a rom on it yet. after this reboot screen will only go to g1 screen. will not go into recovery. will not go into fastboot. did i just brick this phone, possibly by using the latest radio?
That is a possible brick my friend. RC29 does not like newer radio's. If you can't boot into recovery or fastboot, then your SOL. See if the phone is recognized by your computer when you plug it in, I remember reading somewhere that you might be able to bring it back if it does, but I can't confirm.
yeah, that's what i figured. no good on the pc. sonofabitch. didn't even think about it when i put the new radio on there. on the other hand maybe i'll give it king. lol!
If it's new why don't you return it and say it just stopped working or something like the OTA update crashed it?
actually gonna try that with tmoblile. didn't buy it new though. wish me luck!
You will need it...because if you didn't buy it from t-mobile then they aren't going to honor the warranty.
....you said you installed radio and then spl....the only thing is....you should have used the radio that was on the same dl page as the death spl...not the newer radio.
Here is the link.
Follow the procedure as its written and then update the radio to the newest one is how I would have done it (or anyone wanting to play it safe). Since you wanted to skip that one step and go to the newest radio immediately, that might have caused your issues...
I wouldn't say its a brick just yet, I would see if anyone knows about the latest radio and flashing the spl on top of it. We already know you can flash the new radio on top of the old radio / death spl already flashed.
