I cannot syncronize my Ameo16 with my computer - MDA, XDA, 1010 Accessories

I syncrized my Ameo 16gb couple of times last year. Then got more information on the device. Need to syncro, but to no avail. I tried so many times it wont. I have Windows Vista on my computer

you may right click on the computer then select manage then device manager
Find your phone if it is with question mark then right click and choose update driver since you have vista choose search automatically and it will find the driver itself.BTW you must have internet connection

USB Device Not Recognized

I've been using my AT&T Tilt for nearly a month without any problems, but yesterday for reasons I cannot determine, my phone suddenly stopped being recognized by any version of Windows XP or Windows Vista. I tired Windows XP SP2 in a virtual machine on my Mac, I tried it on my wife's Windows Vista machine, and I tried it on my children's Windows Vista machine and I received the same error each and every time.
No matter what machine I plugged it into, I would immediately get a "USB Device Not Recognized" error and neither ActiveSync on Windows XP nor WMDC on Windows Vista would initiate a sync.
I've hard reset my phone multiple times, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both ActiveSync and WMDC, I've even flashed to a different OS on my phone (using my MicroSD card) and nothing has worked.
I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the USB connection on the phone may have failed. I've been contemplating sending it back to AT&T since I had a malfunctioning pixel in the middle of the screen, but with the recent problems I'm starting to lean more towards returning it and less towards living with the pixel issue.
Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing the USB problem?
Just a quick update, when I arrived at work today, I attempted to sync with my work computer (Windows Vista Business) and I had no trouble at all. I'm going to take home the cable that I have here (which came with the BlackBerry I use for work) and see if that makes any difference with my home computers.
wow
I can confirm this as well. I have the Tilt and I used a blackberry cable from my job and it synced up flawlessly. before i was getting that usb not recognized as well.
I'm having the exact same problem now.. it worked fine for 4 months and now.. it just says usb not recognized. Please post the results if your blackberry cable. thanks
I just tried a brand new usb cable and it still didn't work for me
I have the same problem but i've got a solution for this and it's very simple.
For someother reason ActiveSync will boot on the background of your device even when you close it, it will boot up within 10 min or less.
This is the thing you need to do:
Before you plugin your usb cable to sync......
Run taskmanager and close activesync. When you are sure that this application is not running then plugin your USB cable.
It worked for me!

I had this exact same problem happen to me at the end of November - I was using WMDC 6.1 for months then all of a sudden I could not connect (same error message you described). I went back and looked through the MS Windows updates and identified a NVIDEA driver update had caused my problem. Used system restore to roll it back and then everything worked fine.

ya..i bought my girlfriend the HTC Touchdual and has the same problem as well. She can't seem to sync with her Win XP and is only her 2nd time trying to sync and it failed already. In between, I don't think there was any internet connection to update anything.
Please help!
(Sorry to borrow this thread to solve the same problem but on another device btw, I own a Kaiser myself but currently didn't face any problem yet..touch wood!!)
Dwimmerlaik, did you have any luck fixing the problem?
Solved my USB Connection issue in Vista
After trying everything I could find on the net to solve my inability for Vista to stay connected with my HTC Kaiser (ATT TILT), I found the problem exists with the MicroSD card. No matter what, Vista would connect then disconnect my phone after a few seconds. After weeks of searching I finally just decided to take out my 2Gb MicroSD card.....and now Vista maintain connections and I am finally able to sync via WMDC.
Spread the Word!!!! Take out the MicroSD.

too bad I'm not using Vista..
Anyone else have this problem and solved it?
-Try to use the USBs at the back of your PC(not on the front of the case).
-Try to buy another cable(That SHOULD BE an USB2.0 HighSpeed certified shielded cable. That costs something about $6 ).

Didn't work for me either
I've tried doing that multiple times..
Go to phone, menu, options, time zones tab, uncheck the Auto change time zone & clock.
This is a known bug in the firmware that causes A/S to automatically start & then sometimes it tries to start a second sessions of A/S when you plug in to your PC. Give it a try, have you ever noticed that A/S is running in task manager even though you're not connected or just reset? Just one thought.

My computer dont detect my HTC TyTn II

After a hard reset on the TyTn my computer is no longer detecting it when I connect the phone to USB cable. The computer makes a sound when I connect it, but Windows Mobile Device Centrer say that TyTn II is not connected, and it does not show up in My Computer eather.
I've tryed to delete the partnership and reconnect the phone, but nothing happens.
Can anyone help me please! Now I cant install any of my programs og transfer files between the computer and the pocket pc/phone.
Try this:
tap Start > Settings > Connections.
tap USB to computer.
Uncheck the Enable advanced network functionality box
Try this:
tap Start > Settings > Connections.

I uninstalled Windows Mobile Device Centrer and then tryed the tip you described here. At first it looked ok, my computer detected the device and installed the drivers and reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Centrer.
But my device is still not showing up in Windows Mobile Device Centrer or My Computer
Check your personal firewall settings and open the ports MS asks you to at the Windows Mobile home/support page...
Go into task manager & see if Activesync is running. I have the same problem with my tilt & if I kill activesync then reattach it takes a moment the first time, but then it works.
Make sure you are running the latest version of WMDC. I absolutely could not get WMDC to work with my HTC Wizard for months. After MS came out with an updated version of WMDC (around June, I think) it started working fine.
If you absolutely can't get it to work, consider using emoze for over the air syncing of cal, contacts, mail, etc. (or an on-line exchange account.) I had to do that for a few months until I got it to work. Emoze has the advantage of being free. Unfortunately, neither will allow file syncronization, tho.
There is no activesync running.
And everything was working just fine before my device went "mental" and I had to hard reset. So before the hard reset I could use WMDC on this computer, transfer files and run active sync. But now I cant.
I also got an online exchange account so I can sync calender and contacts. But I want to be albe to transfer files to my computer and install new software.
My WMDC version is: 6.1.6965
Some more info about the computer may help. For instance, I take it from your usage fo Windows Mobile Device Center that you are running Vista. In any case, since the problem is with the computer and not the Kaiser, I would see if the manufacturer would provide some support.
Yes, im running Vista and I buildt the PC my self.
But Im not sure its realy the PC that is the problem, because I made the changes (Hard Reset) to the device and thats what caused the problem.
Anyway, I was hoping for some way to debug/troubleshoot this problem.
I am having the same problem. I sync to any one of 8 computers at work and one at home. Work runs XP PRO and Home VISTA Ultimate x64 all worked fine untill this week. I have not made any changes since the last sync, the computers know it's hooked up due to activesync opening and trying to connect when I plug in via USB. But it never connects. I want to flash to Dutty's newest ROM but can't connect. I sync all contacts and e-mail wirelessly but need the computer to flash (I do not have a sd card yet) Any idead would be great! I have tried the ideas listed above but no joy. I have not hard reset the device as of yet ( I need some things off of it first)

I really need help with this!!! I'm pulling my hair out!
Did any of you that had this problem find a solution? I have the exact same issue except a hard reset will fix it for a while, and then the problem will reoccur a few months later. No software has been added during the time frame. Very annoying.
i've got just the same problem! plaese help us!

Kaiser / TyTN II / Tilt Users running Vista I need your help

I have been running Windows Vista x64 Ultimate for some time now. I have been able to sync fine for some time now but all of sudden I am unable to now. I have tried flashing back the original AT&T ROM and still haven't had any sucess syncing it to Vista. I was doing some reading on Microsoft's website and found this solution to the exact problem that I am having.
I have re-installed WMDC 3 times already, so I don't think that's the problem either. I can't do a system restore because my restore only goes back that far. My phone is able to sync fine with Windows XP Professional so I pretty sure it has something to do with Vista, not working correctly.
Here is the error that I get and Microsoft's solution to the problem:
Windows Mobile Device Center fails to connect due to the Windows Portable Device driver failing to load. In some cases, you may be unable to connect and only a red X error icon is displayed in Windows Mobile Device Center. This can be caused by Windows Portable Device driver failing to load. Connect your device
Go to Manager (Computer > Properties)
Find the Portable Devices node
Locate the Windows Mobile device entry
Choose to uninstall the driver
Reconnect your device
I tried following the directions but I am not sure where to go. What is Microsoft talking about when it says go to Manager? I have no idea where that is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am been fighting with this for some time now, about a week in all, and I still haven't been able to figure it out.
Oh this ActiveSync issue was thought to be resolved by WMDC but not yet completely. Anyway, you might try the above as Microsoft says. Manager is the Device Manager. You shall find it by right-click on My Computer icon, select Properties and in the Window that opens, a link to Device Manager is at the left top corner. Is that the one you were looking for?
Regards,
Carty..

Thanks for the quick reply but I don't think that is it. I have searched through the device manager and couldn't find anything that related to what Microsoft said. I was just wondering if there was something else they were refering to but I was guessing it was Device Manager. However I thought they would just say "Device Manager" if that's what it really was.
Dude, i think you are on the right track. The "Manager" is definitely "Device Manager" although the Portable Devices item will not actually be displayed in Device Manager if the Kaiser / TyTN II is not actually connected to the PC via USB / Bluetooth.
Try connecting the phone to the PC and check Device Manager again. If the Portable Devices heading does not show up with the phone connected the steps suggested by Microsoft may not fix your problem. Let us know how you get on. I have 3 vista PC's here with me so I may be able to help you work it out if you still have no luck.
Cheers
Chris
I needed a hotfix from microsoft before i could even sync mine the first time.....

Problems syncing with Vista...workarounds?

Hello I've read around on this problem, and I cant find a fix for it. Orange UK HTC Diamond, I don't have the driver CD or anything but it seems it should be stored on the device itself.
I plugged it into my laptop (Vista x32 Home Premium), and first time it comes up with "Uknown device installed. Searching preconfigured drivers." It closes and nothing happens.
I have WMDC 6.1 installed, and have unchecked advanced network functionality.
If I install XP on a VMware virtual machine, will I be able to activesync to that ? (eventually I want to install HardSPL etc.)
Anyway, and hints/tips would be amazing.
vista and diamond
I just got my Diamond this weekend, I was upgrading from an HTC P4000. I was out of town (my home pc is XP) so I decided to sync my contacts over his vista machine (btw can this be done easily pda to pda? bluetooth?) The P4000 had trouble syncing with vista, took a few tries. After outlook at all my stuff from my old phone, I put my Diamond in and... nothing. Didn't see it, but it was charging. I fought Vista for about an hour to get it working, I had to download a windows mobile center patch off of microsoft, and restart the computer+phone.
When I got home to my XP machine, I plugged in and activesync took care of everything.
All the advice I can give you is try uninstalling your phone drivers (in device manager) and try different usb ports, and restart.
heres a link to the MS troubleshooting page I tried:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-troubleshooting.mspx
Hmm I'm starting to think it might be the standard USB connection that I'm using, do I need to use the standard HTC cable?
I've just tried phone on XP, and its bringing up the same error with Activesync 4.5
It is well-known that in vista you have to download, and install, Windows Mobile Device Center to sync any WM device, even PPCs.
So what's the deal?
Hey i'm also having this problem, spent ages trying to get it to work and tried
uninstalling and reinstalling everything but just get a message on the phone saying
install ActiveSync 4.5 on PC even though im using Vista.
Any ideas??

You can't use ActiveSync on VISTA!!! Can't you read the MANUAL or make a search?! Install Windows Mobile Device Center from MSFT site.
For God's sake, use the included CD, it has ALL you need to start synching.
I have x64 Home Premium, and it worked out of the box.
I'm happy for you but the first thing I did was install WMDC6.1, as stated in my first post, and as I said it isn't syncing with activesync on XP either

Making Vista show some love to your Kaiser

Alot of people are having problems making the switch to vista, i created this thread to help out making the move easier and help solve some compatability issues, as currently they aren't very easy to find all in one place. This thread is a depository for vista how-to's and fixes. I will continue to updates it as i find problems and solutions.
-----MY KAISER ISN"T BEING READ BY WINDOWS VISTA!!!!!-----
If your kaiser isn't being read by windows vista there is a pretty simple solution, you just need to disable advanced networking on your kaiser. To do this go to:
START----SETTINGS---CONNECTIONS---USB TO PC---UNCHECK THE BOX
After you do this your computer should greet you like r2d2 and install drivers and then connect to WMDC.
If you have further problems try swapping usb cords or using a different usb port (you have to connect via usb for the first time.)
------Using your device as a modem--------
WARNING tethering your devise is usually in violation of your contract, you will be able to use your phone as a modem but if you start using "excessive" amounts of data you could get in some trouble.
This is also a simple fix and requires only that you use the program "internet share" on your kaiser. (if you don't have it you can get it here thanks to ericc191) download the file and unzip the two items in it and place them in the windows directory. You can then create a shortcut and place in Windows>Start Menu>Programs.
Run the program and then select the type of connection you would like to use, bluetooth or usb. if you use bluetooth you will need to set up a partnership before hand. Personally i recommend usb because it is more secure won't kill your battery because it is plugged in and charging. Choose the internet service you would like to connect to and then push "connect" (left soft button.) Vista should automatically install the modem driver connect to your phone AS A MODEM. You will not be able to transfer file at this point as vista is recognising your phone as a modem, not as a windows mobile devise. you will not be connected to windows mobile devise center(WMDC.)
----I can't read my files or set up my device!----
Is your device connecting to WMDC? if not read "my kaiser isn't being read by windows vista." If your device is connected make sure you have disabled programs such as "MY MOBILER" as they do not react the same way as they do with active sync.
----Flashing in vista is here!!!
I take no credit for this, A big thanks to MrVanx as he made this tutorial possible!
One problem with windows VISTA is that it uses the new "Windows Mobile Device Centre" and not activesync which we are used to, thus our standard RUU programs will not upgrade our Hermes devices as in windows XP. This guide will show you how to configure VISTA to work just the same as XP with our RUU programs.
NOTE: PLease Download the latest version of WMDC before attempting this.
You will need winrar to extract the files
First of all you will need one of these drivers depending on your version of Vista:
Windows Vista x32 Usb Driver
Windows Vista x64 Usb Driver
NOTE TO x64 WINDOWS USERS, you will need to boot up with driver signing enforcement turned off. To accomplish this, you will need to press F8 during boot up. If you do not do this, the 64 bit drivers will not install properly and this tutorial will not be of any use to you.
And of course you will need the Vista RUU
Extract the contents to a folder on your desktop, call this folder "AS_DRIVERS". It contains the drivers from activesync which we will use instead of the native VISTA WMDC drivers when the device is in bootloader.
1.Now you must enter the bootloader on your device, to do this press and hold both the side ok button and the power button then put your stylus into the hole on the bottom of the device, your device will reset and show the red blue green bootloader screen. LEAVE THE DEVICE IN BOOTLOADER MODE and connect it using the USB cable to your VISTA PC.
2.Now navigate into the WMDC (Start>All Programs>Windows Mobile Device Center) and click on the "connection settings" menu icon.
3.In the connection settings menu untick "allow USB connections" then press OK.
4.Now exit the WMDC and return to the desktop, go into the start menu and type "Services", this will take you into the local services dialogue and show a list of all services either running or registered with your pc.
5.Scroll down the list and make sure these services are present:
Windows Mobile-based connectivity
Windows Mobile 2003-based connectivity
If these services are not started then double click each one and set them to Automatic start by clicking the "startup-type" drop-down menu and selecting automatic then click the start button in the same window, apply the setting by pressing OK. Now return back to the desktop again.
6.Go into the start menu and type "Device Manager" then run, this will take you into the device manager. Click the "+" symbol next to "Mobile Devices" and double click on "HTC USB Sync".
This will bring up the properties of the currently connected device (the Kaiser in bootloader).
7.Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver".
8.Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software".
9.Select "Let me pick from a list...."
10.Click the "Have Disk" button.
11.Click "Browse" and navigate to the AS_DRIVERS folder we created earlier.
12.
Vista x32 users select the file "wceusbsh.inf"
Vista x64 users select the file "wceusbshx64.inf"
Click open.
13.click next and the driver will be installed (wait a moment).
14.Press close and escape back to the desktop now.
Now we must stop the WMDC process, start the task manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Escape.
Click the WMDC line and click "End Process". In the confirmation window, again press End Process.
Now re-enter the WMDC and re-enable USB connections (click connection settings and tick the box "enable USB connections").
Your RUU programs for HardSPL/Radios/WM6 ROMs should now run as desired once you are synced with WMDC. Since we have updated the driver which Vista uses when the device is in bootloader mode.
NOTE:: This technique is still in testing! It has been proven to work though!
The Vista Version of MTTY can be downloaded from dave daveshaw's site (http://taeguk.co.uk/xda)

I had this problem before but not anymore as I am using a shorter usb cable that was used to power portable hard drive and now it connects every time and charges phone faster.

vista 32 bit driver is actually the driver from active sync, they should allow flashing, they won't necessarilly "help" with anything beyond that... does that answer your question?

If Advanced Networking is disabled on the phone, the next thing to check is that the latest version of WMDC is downloaded and installed on the Vista PC (and reboot after that before plugging in the phone just to be on the safe side). Yes the last step is on the previous page but you may have missed it....
