Freeze on boot screen

Hello,
Today my vibrator goes mad, so I decided to send my phone back (I still have the warranty).
In order to proceed, I have to put back the official SFR ROM, and luckily I found this link on the wiki : ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Trinity/SFR_S300+_ROM_French_1.23.163.2_Only_OS.rar
So I did a little backup of all my data, I take off the memory card, and I started the installation.
But at 9%, it bugs. Hopefully, the ROMUpdateUtility display a message that I have to put off and put in the USB cable, and retry the installation. Its seems that works, because the transfer was complete and the phone reboot automatically .
But when the phone reboot, it display the classical boot screen SFR Bonjour, show some numbers (M 05 - B 05 - D 1.23 - R 1.50.08.11 - G 32.83.7020.20h) and when this numbers disappear the phone freeze.
I've try to wait half an hour, but the SFR boot screen stay, and the phone didn't respond to anything (I've try to put the power cable, and the LED set on only if the phone is off). I have to put off the battery to turn off the phone.
If somebody could help me, please!
And excuse me if I made any mistake, english is not my native language.
I have the same issue......
I have the same issue, my SPVM700 just sits on the initial splash screen after I tried to re-flash it to the original Orange ROM [as I too had to return it for a warranty repair]. I used Mozzer's Orange ROM [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309959] to restore it - the procedure looked the same as with other ROMs I had successfully loaded but it was only when I tried to restore the official MNO ROM that my Trinity bricked.
I can access the bootloader screen [TRIN100 IPL-0.50, SPL-9.99CP] and can flash the device, where the progress bar always reaches 100% on the PC and the PDA and then the PDA automatically reboots, however, it does not advance past the splash screen.
I have tried the Hard-SPL fix [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299659 ] and then re-flashed the device with other ROMs that I had tried previously [Schaps, AX3L, HTC Official WM5 P3600 ROM etc..] but still get no joy - is there something that I should have done prior to re-loading the original ROM that I have missed and is my Trinity now forever a brick?
you've presumably tried a hard reset? but it's not written above so i thought i'd just check.. (pressing two soft reset buttons and pushing the stylus in the reset hole?)
Yes I did try a hard reset even though I didn't expect much from it as I had just replaced the ROM [effectively wiping the ROM and replacing it with a different ROM] and none seemed to boot. Once the device has started booting up, the only way to switch it off is to disconnect the battery [and the only way to switch it back on is to soft reset] so I am guessing there is a hardware issue caused by returning the device to the Original MNO build as this was the ROM upgrade that trashed the device - other ROMs tested prior to this had loaded successfully.
Sorry to bring this back but since the link is in Behemot's sig, it is not resolved yet. Have you guys loaded SSPL before flashing? If you haven't, the OEM Rom won't boot with HardSPL. Try flashing another custom Rom and use this method before flashing the Shipped Rom.
Good luck.
ask ilos for original SFR rom or search for extenue SFR rom. or contact me by personal message and give me your mail i have the SFR ROM without radio ROM (you can get the radio on this forum)...
Sorry, I've forget to update this thread...
So, for me the only solution was to bring back the device to an SFR store (it is still under warranty).
I believed they would reproach me that the RADIO was not the original one or something like that, but no. They didn't make any remark and send my device back with an official SFR ROM.
The only thing is that they take more than a month instead of the traditional two weeks to fix it.
So all is ok for me.
I hope you will solve your problem

ROM Backup of a CDMA Touch Diamond

I would like to know, as you can see in the title, if there is a procedure to backup the ROM inside the HTC Touch Diamond (CDMA, Telus Canadian version).
I just bought my phone today, and should get it in 3-5 days, but before i start tweaking and playing with it, and before i do a mistake, i would like to know 2 things...
Can i take a ROM dump of the core phone, before i add anything on it, this would be the 1st thing i do once i receive the phone
Once i have taken the ROM dump, is there a procedure somewhere that explains how to perform a restore from that ROM? Like getting in the bootloader and restore the backup i made?
I used the search feature, and i found a couple of ways, but it mostly refers to the European version, which is obviously a GSM/3G version, i am talking of the newer Telus revision, that has a bigger battery, a different back plate, bumped ROM/RAM memory (256/256 instead of 192/256)....
Thanks!
there is a way
Hi there why dont you search ehte Diamond Rom forum, i saw over there a thread about backing up / dump your existing ROM. I havent tried the procedure but i think i will also do it

Backing up ROMS

I recently reflashed my Orange branded Kaiser with HTC's official ROM from thier website.
After flashing the unit, the radio refused to work, and had to send it back to HTC and they replaced the main board, luckily under warranty. The phone now works great.
I am considering flashing to a new ROM but don't want the same thing to happen again. Is there any way i can back up the exisitng ROM so that if it all goes wrong i can go back to what i had before.
I have done some searching but there does not seem to be anything concrete or a procedure to do this. Can anyone help. thnx
I beleive that method is outlined in the wiki.
SPB and/or sprite backup are Comercial Apps than can backup your phone.
We have a copy of the WM6.1 Offical Orange ROM untouched on XDA-Devs if you need to flash back to it.
Here is a thread discussing upgrading and unlocking your Orange Kaiser:link
and here is another discussion I had with an orange user about upgrading: link
Take some time to get familiar with the Kaiser ROM upgrading process and then follow the advice in those threads and you should be fine.
Thanks
Dave
Thanks Dave i will have a look.

Restoring Trinity as it was from out of Package

Hi to all,
when I got my HTC P3600 on the package there was written "GPS ready (GPS Attivato)" and was not branded by any Mobile provider.
It is with Windows Mobile with ROM Italian. All was in italian.
As a very nice toy, I started to play with it until application after application, it was a mess and crashed.
I thought "No problem: a FACTORY RESET and all will be back as new...."
I was wrong...
After the factory reset, I noticed that some things were slidly changed or missed at all.
- Lost the original IExplorer pages and defaults
- The connection manager have a different color
- some themes were lost
- several other application/icons I am not sure 100% ,disappeared
I should suppose that HTC have set of custom applications/setting installed on any HTC before packaging, but I have not found anything SETUP like that on the CD. They have just ActiveSync and the TomTom Home trial.
- Where I can find the whole HTC ITALY basic setup to revert the HTC as it was just unpacked, with only the ORIGINAL P3600 applications from HTC?
I have seen several packages here on the forum, but they are mixed (some for Trinity, some for Diamonds, etc) and I am not sure what is really inside and if thiey were on the Original HTC installation.
Regards

hi...
after factory reset you lost some of default programs and setting? could you explain how you do a factory reset? cause i never had any problems like yours. maybe you should refer to this link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Resets and do a Hard reset.
It sounds as though the Trinity as shipped to you had been modified by the seller and a hard reset has wiped those customisations.
I checked with another twin P3600.
As soon as I turned it on for the first time I got a message like "Installing customization please wait..." just after the boot Windows logo.
At the end of the custom installation process I was not able to find any start-up setup (probably cleaned up at the end of the install) and also this second HTC was customized.
- Question: How can I clone/backup a Trinity just unpacked without let it startup any application ?
Regards

Weird Problems & Diamond almost dead (software/ROM)

Some days ago, i've flashed my phone to get an "up-to-date" ROM. I chose "PDACornerIllusion 21139" of 2009.03.06. All went fine excepting the keyboard of my GPS wont work anymore (dunno why of course), so i re-flashed with another ROM.
I was surprised that my phone kept the CornerIllusion BootScreen, but i didnt care.
All of a sudden, after having soft reset the ROM i chose (the 2nd one), for an installation of some proggie. The ROM restart as brand new asking me to reset the screen, the clock, date etc... losing all my content and customizations. Then i couldnt sync with Outlook after the first sync i've done minutes ago (error code 800004005). I've decided to soft-reset the phone, and now, TF3D wont even start, (it selft tries to start several times, then gives up), AND the programs lists is all broken, no shortcuts left and the games folder is named *h1/4Eg+ç^, nothing works anymore.
I flashed with about 4 roms (including Aztor one), resulting in the same mess.
Does it have something to do with the first one "PDACornerIllusion 21139" and its still remaining BootScreen?
Can i flash my phone from its roots, to get rid of this ?
As it's maybe not the "fault" of PDACornerIllusion, i write this in this section of the Diamond general thread and made a double post at PDACornerIllusion development thread
I suggest you perform a hard reset before flashing any new rom and that you use the traditional "flash-from-PC-using-ActiveSync-connection" method to flash.
And above all I wish you luck!
What was the other ROM you flashed? I am curious.
rondol1 suggests you hard reset prior to flashing a new rom. I suggest you hard reset after flashing a new rom. Net result is probaby much the same. You could even just do a hard reset now with whatever is loaded and things will probably improve. Main thing is...whenever you flash a rom do a hard reset straight after loading it. I always do this religiously and with the exception of one recent rom I tried I have never had a problem.
First of all, thank you both for trying to suggest hints, i really appreciate it.
I've never hard reset the ROM before or after having installed a new one. I never have a problem before.
For the last 2 months, i was on NEON 1.28, then i've decided it was time to update seeing the new features of the more up-to-date ROMs
I've just reflashed it (an hour ago) with PDACornerIllusion 21139, i've hard reseted before and after. let's see how it turns out ....
I've tried NATALY, CLOUDY, MORNA & AZTOR, no luck with any of them, all died after a soft reset or after the 1st sync (reconnecting for a 2nd sync).
Maybe the problem comes from the very root of the phone (like BIOS in a PC, dunno), maybe something in there got corrupted. How to repair it if my guess exists and is it repairable?

There in lies the problem.
I bet you will be fine from now on. Don't ask why you need to do the hard reset - as no one has been able to give a definitive answer - But it is a well known step that many chefs recommend post flash - just do it from now on and you wont regret it.

completely agree with logger - hard reset after you flash any ROM. I haven't used PDACorner - so can't say for sure... but do the flash via CustomRUU once... when the new ROM is flashed... do a hard reset as soon as it's complete..
good luck!
let's see then, >>>>crossing fingers<<<<
I've had this happen a lot lately as well. Might have something to do with the newer SYS? Anyway, hard reseting hasn't always fixed it for me. However, flashing back to the Sprint stock ROM (or HTC stock for you GSM guys) then flashing a new custom ROM has always done the trick. Maybe because the stock ROMs are bigger and "clean" out the memory somehow? At any rate, flash stock and then you're good to go. No permanent damage.
no luck, after a 2nd soft-reset, the phone is asking "touch the screen to configure for the 1sy use blablabla", all data's lost again & again...
what do you mean by stock Rom ? the rom that came with my phone when i've bought it ?
I've got the same problem with the Diamond rebooting like a hard-reset. But I always did a hard-reset after a fresh install. I blamed it on the rom and tried several others, including donsalari's "Clean Basic Rom", the Gen.Y Sense 2.1 and 2.5 versions and an older Aztor rom. Same problem every time, the first reboot after changing the device locale works fine, then I set the whole phone up properly and on the next reboot it will come up as if had performed a hard reset.
Additionally, the file system on my internal storage got corrupted somehow, had to reformat. At some point, I also had the impression that data on the phone memory got lost gradually. First the Contact's numbers got replaced by some nonsense characters, then there were numbers and contacts missing, and finally I had no contacts at all. ActiveSync stopped working so I was in the middle of a trip without my phonebook...
I've got two hypotheses:
1) The Gen.Y bootloader messed with the phone (Had tried the Sense 2.5 Gen.Y rom before donsalari's)
2) Flash controller or Flash itself is broken
@dunnno: I suggest you rename the thread to something like "diamond hard-resets on 2nd reboot after rom install"
edit: oops, just realised I resurrected a very old thread... Maybe there's a fix already?
My diamond still suffers from this problem. I tried it again and again with different roms but everytime, at some point all my configuration is lost and the diamond reboots like after a fresh install. Can anyone please help?
I'm having this problem as well :|
Grr, I have to rely on my phone for so much, but it just doesn't want to work correctly.
Help is immensely appreciated.
Well, I got mine to work, I just flashed the stock HTC ROM and everything has gone back to normal. H3PO, I suggest you give that a shot if you are still having problems.
I had these problems when I first started flashing my Diamond with custom roms.
Now I always flash my carrier stock rom first, then hard reset, then flash custom rom, then hard reset and I never have any problems. I have no idea why flashing the stock rom first stops the problems but I haven't had any problems with the dozens of roms I've flashed using this method.
Also I always flash from internal storage, but others prefer using MTTY
I still have some problems with the Contact Database, but flashing some stock O2 Rom solved the "reboot as new" problem.
