On the Motoblur Rom the left+right touch keys either side of the drawer brings up the phone+one I can't remember
I was wondering if it was possible to do it in Launcher2
I'm guessing not as it means changing of frameworks etc
But just thought I'd ask
are you talking about doing something like this:

Anyone know where I could get the files and where to push them?
Does HTC_IME even get updated?
In Cyanogen mod when you swipe left or right on the virtual keybaord, the keys change to a different layout (QWERTY, compact QWERTY and a 1-9 phone keyboard), but you can't do that with the HTC_IME in JacHero. I assume I could just push the IME from CM, but I don't know which files are associated with it.
I was just wondering if there was any way to make a dock to replace the normal rosie phone menu and add buttons. I have been using dxtop which is my favorite because of the 5 button dock and didnt know if anyone else had thought of this.
Im sure someone else would use something like this. I know I could just use dxtop but then I cant use the rosie widgets right?

No DXtop won't let you use Rosie widgets. Someone asked about this with Launcher.apk before.
First of all it would require a complete re-write of the app, witch is possible with the launcher, but we don't have the source code to Rosie. Not saying it's impossible, but it's going to take even more work than the regular launcher.
How would you launch the app tray if there's no bar at the bottom?
The bar isn't nearly as tall as and icon and the text beneath it. This means it's going to have to push all the other icons up (which would be hard to code) and wouldn't look very good as they would no longer be equally spaced out.
Just .02, I wouldn't count on it ever happening tbh.
Ya I know you cant use it like that I was just thinking it could have a dock instead of the buttons and to bring up the menu you could drag the dock up or long press menu sorta like dxtop. Why do you say that you dont think it will ever happen? I dont know anything about coding but if they could replace the tray in launcher how hard would it be to do something like this in rosie? Would I be better off just using dxtop on hero and looking for widgets that I like?

You misunderstood my post. They haven't replaced the tray in the regular launcher, I was just saying that someone asked me about that.
The reason it would be easier to do this in the regular launcher is because we have the source code for it, we can modify it as we wish and recompile it. We don't have the source code to Rosie, so we can't do jack with it. Sorry, but it's pretty much impossible.
Oh ok I get you now. Do you think there its possible that they will ever release the sdk for rosie?

No, never. Sense UI was created by HTC, it's the selling point of the Hero, if they release the source code other manufacturers could ship with Sense UI. So they would loose the unique selling point and potentially a lot of business. It might be leaked some day (it's no secret that HTC's got more holes than a freakin' sieve), but by then there will probably be something more jaw-dropping than Sense UI
Ya, that makes sense I guess I will just stick with dxtop for my dock then. I really dont use many widgets anyway the only reason I want to use hero is for the flash browser and because I like the dialer and a few other things better.
Hi there,
I have been looking into changing the nav bar buttons for Rosie, like what this guy has done - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702298
I have looked into his files and asked but got no answer as yet. I know Stickman has also done this for SenseHero B4 and onwards, but can't reach him either at the mo.
Does anyone know what lines of code need to be changed to get the different apps mapped to the buttons on the nav bar?
I have decompiled all the xml files and the classes.dex file in Rosie.apk but can't see what to change. I personally want to change the right hand button to something else, for example "Browser".
I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the classes.dex file.
Any help would be much appreciated
Great idea i miss the Expressio bar as well
I notice that if I apply an older WM 6.1 to my 6.5.3 device, I get the old style popup/context menus where all the options appear on one screen, rather than the newer, larger, more "finger friendly" menus which require scrolling up and down to see all options. I like the old-style ones better.
Unfortunately applying an older theme also seems to have the side effect of messing up some of the icons on the bottom menu bar so that they either don't display at all, or display incorrectly. Is there any way to cause ONLY this old-style menu change to occur, without messing anything else up? Either through a registry edit or some other way? Alternatively, is there a way to fix the bottom menu bar on 6.5.3 when a 6.1 theme is applied?
I haven't done any theme editing before so if anyone could provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated, thanks...
What type of theme have you applied? For what UI?
Just the regular Windows Mobile UI. By default my device has the "Classic Blue" theme selected out of the box, which works fine. As a test I installed Windows Mobile 6.1 Green Theme found here:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-windows-mobile-6-1-theme.html
It mostly does what I want with the menus, but for example in the email/POutlook app (among others) in the bottom menu bar the OK/X button is okay, but the icon/button for "Menu" is completely missing. There is no icon, nor any word in its place. It is just blank, yet tapping on it still does bring up the menu as desired. This is what I am not usre how to fix. Alternatively, I'd be happy with just changing these menus back to the old compact 6.1 style without affecting anything else, but right now applying an old-style theme is the only way I know of accomplishing this.
there are a lot of themes, better to find at least a 6.5 of your taste.
make a search here on xda or look here
The thing is, I'm not really too concerned with the appearance part of things, so the look of a theme doesn't matter that much to me. What I am mainly trying to accomplish is getting the old smaller, compacted system/context menus that we used to have on 6.1.
For example when you're in email (Pocket Outlook) viewing your list of messages, and you want to check for new mail, you hit the "menu" button and then select "Send/Receive". It's that menu I'm talking about. On the old OS version you could see all items on the screen at once, but with the new finger friendly 6.5, you have to scroll up and down to get to various items, such as Send/Receive.
That's the only thing I'm trying to change: getting those old menus back. And currently applying a 6.1 theme is the only way I know of doing so, but it also messes up the bottom menu bar under 6.5.3. So I'm hoping to either find another, easier way of restoring those old menus, or finding a fixed/tweaked 6.1 theme that doesn't mess up the menu bar on 6.5.3.
This is gonna end up sound like a stupid easy fix, but I have searched everywhere and cannot find a way to change the look of the icons.
For one, the button on the left change from "Recents" to some stupid "Flip between two apps you used" that is getting really frustrating.
And two, the icons of the buttons themselves changed somehow. How does one change it back to the regular ones? I am using Resurrection Remix rom and Nova Launcher

Have you changed themes? I'm running the minimal theme and have the same softkeys. Themes will change them. As far as them being switched, I haven't ran Resurrection yet, but there should be something in the settings to flip-flop and edit them I'm sure. Have you changed anything in there?

I guess it's happening for the specific theme you're using as I can see you navigation bar, you seemed to be using a theme, right? If so then it's a normal thing. To switch between styles of navbars of your choice use SoftKeyZ
Thank you for the reply guys. I am indeed using a theme but these styles showed up randomly, days after I installed the theme. I even went as far as installing a completely new theme and they remain. I tried the SoftKeyz app and even that app can't seem to change them. I wouldn't even mind these so much if the left key was the recents and not a switch between last two apps used.
