upgrade help - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I need help upgrading my XDA IIs from wm5 to wm6. pls help. have tried the steps show in some forums but having trouble with the BaUpgradeUt.
have heard that i could install using the SD. which is much easier.. kindly show me the link to this steps pls.
thanks

sd card flashing does not work for the blueangel. please follow the steps in my tutorial thread linked in my signature. and don't use the baupgrade, but my Chef_Tony RUU's maupgradeut_noid. that should do the trick

im using win 7 and i cant connect to the BA when its in the bootloadermode (is shows usb) but i cant connect using my windows mobile device center (Activesync for win7)

as a beginner, you shouldn't attempt to flash using a windows vista/7 computer, because it is much more complicated than the regular process and takes a lot of extra knowledge.
if you see absolutely no way, that you can access a windows xp pc, you can try the methods described in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5456317&postcount=6

thanks for the help. now im facing a new problem regarding to some errors i encountered in this version.
cant use my sim contacts and i cant even add a new contact to the directory?

issues like that usually appear, when the user forgot to perform a proper hard reset.

hmmm? so what can i do??

perform a proper hard reset by pressing power+reset, then camera+record and in the menu that appears, change the options to read:
ernable kitl NO
clear registry hive YES
format storage yes and confirm with the mail button. then the device will start the first boot, where you set the clock and stuff like that. this step is mandatory to each upgrade process and is therefore mentioned in all the tutorials

No progress beyond Boot Screen!!!

hai dudes....
my roommates is using O2 for a long time and all in sudden he couldn't able to go beyond the boot screen, his PPC hangs there. I have also tried to connect it to pc thru' active sync.. but unsuccessful (tried soft reset too for many times).... now what is the option to get into.... (i feel he is running out of space and the O2 couldn't able to load files!!!!! this is my doubt... i may be wrong.....) is there any option to overcome this.. without reinstalling everything.......
or if reinstall is the only option to get a ride... how shall that can be done.... plz help...... he is having a backup of his OS image (saved using OSImagetool....)
plz help how to proceed...... to solve this....
You could always try a 'Hard Reset'... on WM2003SE I think it's press and hold the Power Button then press the Soft Reset 'Hole'...
That should reset everything to factory settings...
if it doesn't work you will need to reflash the rom. Read the wiki for info on how to do this or go to your phone manufacturer's website and download the latest upgrade.
Either way you are going to have to reinstall everything.
yes.. thanks for you quick response.... i will first try as you mentioned spkr4thdd.. and if still its not working will go and flash the rom. i have already downloaded the updated rom.... but i have a doubt here.... does it enough to connected with PC thru USB to Flash the ROM.... or need to have any other utility or software to do the same from PC.....
plz friend... any step by step guidance (or web links) will be greatly helpful.. as the piece is out of waranty/garenty period..... taken all the necessary precausionary steps to pervent from loss.... plz help....
thanks much..

Somebody help me!!! Upgarde

I've instaled a windows mobile 5 rom, a strange rom that put my Qtek 9090 very, very slow. Unappy whith that, i made a search here in XDA-Developers and my conclusion was that the best Rom is the "Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU3.5_v1.4.CF2 R2 by baniaczek".
So i download it and started the upgrading pressing "MaUpgradeUt_noID" icon that opens a sreen with Qtek S100. clicked Next and after the next sreen an error ocured » ERROR 101: Conection Error«
My phone is correctly conected and i don't know what to do.
Sugestions???
Look at my signature, and first read before asking questions that are answered at least 1000 times
but i will provide you with short explaination
1. put your device in bootloader mode
2. place it to cradle
3. run maupgradeut_noid and follow the onscreen instructions
4. perform wm5 hard reset

I have the same trouble anyone know why and how to fix it?

Big Problem?

I was performing the radio update on my MDAIII and now he hangs in the bootloader with USB in the upper middle und 2.08 in the under middle. All resets won`t bring it back to life. If I try to reinstall the update all I get is a blank message screen (update from version to version) in my Vista. How can I get out of there.
I did everything what was stated here
The original BAUpgradeUT won`t find my device. The MAUpgradeUt_noID.exe gives me the blank screen with the update from to screen.

I'm using a Vista PC.
After the Radio update to 1.15 the error described above is not to go away yet.
What to do, I'm nearly in tears.
Finally I got it back but with an old Romupdate from T-Online. Is there someone who got the QTC 9090 update (latest one)
That was fast..
im glad you solved your problem.
i think someone here has it.
just post what you need and make it as a title for others to read in the digest.

Most likely.
Failed MDA II flash with vista notebook
Hello everybody,
I just read this thread in hope to find a solution for my problem, which is quite similar to the one described here initially.
I got a used MDA III with T_Mobile ROM. Since I'm a customer with O2, I wanted to change the ROM to O2 as well. I followed the directions given in an other thread here (don't have the link just now) and during the flashing, the flash application suddenly had no connection to my MDA III anymore. It was securely settled in its craddle an connected to my laptop via USB. Now my MDA III is stuck in Bootloader Mode with USB v2.07 displayed on the screen.
Each retry of installing either the O2 or the T_Mobile ROM now meet with the error 101: no connection. I read here that you managed to update successfully with a vista pc. Thus I wanted to ask, how you did that since I just don't seem to find the reason for the connection failing each time.
Here is what i tried to establish connection so far:
* disabled virus scanner & firewall
* unplugged the mda III and plugged it in again. It was recognized as a new device but that didn't help the connection issue
Could you please post what you did to make the update work under vista? Help would be greatly appreciated

Try on computer with Windows XP and kill activesynk (wcecomm.exe on taskmanager/processes)
Maybe it will work. If u cant flash O2 ROM try to use "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe". On my Qtek 9090 allways flash using this APPS and allways work.
U can try too format device first, put it on candle and use "mtty1.42.exe". On XP, kill active sync, and open mtty1.42.exe and select port USB and put OK. Do "Enter" on command and should appear USB>. After this write Task 28. This will format all your PC. Try install SO after this. This command delete all files on PPC. I have attach files that you maybe need.
thankfor the tipp and sorry for my late reply. Since I have no XP PC available i tried the mtty1.42.exe on my vista notebook. When i run it however, it only lists com port 1-3, no usb port. Do i have to make a special configuration on vista for it to work?
Thanks in advance,

In vista i dont know...sorry for my late reply too.... in XP u must kill ActiveSync process called wincecom.exe. in vista, maybe u have to kill the Windows Mobile Device Center....i dont know...
Dont forget, put the Qtek 9090 in Boot Loader Mode (Pressing Power Button + Record Button + Reset), maybe will appear USB and u can format the device.
If this does not work, try on Windows XP....Find a friend with Windows XP and ask him to use his PC only to do that.
Maybe somebody in forum have the Windows Vista and can help u....
Sorry my terrible english....

Try this
Downlaod the XDA IIs .exe file and run it - no need to put into USB mode

this should reset to factory default (o2)
it runs on vista too

step by step guide to liberate > hard spl > flash Rom

Ok to help the new users on this site iv decided to put toghther a guide on how to liberate > hard spl > flash Rom for your shift.
Step one
liberate your HTC shift
heres some great instructions with a video of the whole process
http://www.modaco.com/content/forum/266537/View-Topic/
at this stage you do not need to go an install IE/Office etc you just need to liberate the device so you can use the USB tools.
step two
make sure USB tools is working run this on your Snapview side and on vista windows mobile device centre should open up and ask you to link your device(no harm i followed through and unticked all boxes.
step 3
follow these instructions on this thread to hard spl your device.
(now at this stage when you are following these instructions make sure on your snapview side that you have disabled your modem and USB tools is running and you have the 2 arrows at the top)
on vista side make sure your device centre has picked up your device. Also do not have any USB devices connected to your shift (as this causes a problem and hangs with a disabled USB message!!!)
follow these instructions---
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406606
Step 4 (almost there)
download a rom of your choice
my current fav is i00's rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480525
extract the rom you should have 2 files in the folder
CustomRUU.exe
RUU_Signed.nbh
if you can only see one file open winrar and then go through win rar to extract -
run the .exe adn thats it.
if it fails ....
on vista bring up comm manager click on advance and reset snapVue
check to see if its restarting and then restart vista
now first go into vista
launch device windows mobile device centre
click on mobile device settings
connection settings
untick allow USB connections
now go into snap view run USB TOOLS
give it a minute
go back into vista
run the rom update......
if you follow this through each stage the steps will make sense to you eg USB tools etc
good luck

i did solve it
you have to run the file by clicking right click on the file and run as adminsterator
HTC USB Tool
I cannot attach the unit, is there a proces to troubleshoot the usb tools
on the vista side in comm manager make sure that you have turned off wifi - modem - bluetooth, then click on advance and reset snapview, then reset vista and try again once its all loaded up, if it still does not work, uninstall mobile device manager on vista and reinstall again, treat it exactly the same as if you where having issues trying to connect your phone via cable to your laptop/pc....

Hi, same kind of situation here.
I have a problem when trying to HardSPL my shift:
rom version 1.30.414.1 wwe
rom date 02/26/08
radio version 1.58.21.23
protocol version 25.65.30.04H
liberated, UsbTool & SoftReset work well
IE, office mobile, total commander, notes installed & work fine
enableRapi OK
but when proceeding with ShiftHardSPLFinal, when it flashes, It goes from 0%
to 100% within 2 seconds and after the shift reboots, I have the original snapview !!!!!
I did it 3 or 4 times, same result.
followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406606&page=16 post # 158 - Cmonex: took battery out, and post # 160 - KOS : uninstalled Origami, disabled UAC,
still same problem : instant install of version 1.00xxx, and ......... back to initial snapvue, ( not liberated)

Hi all, sorry for my english.
My experience is almost the same. In my opinion the HSPL process is not progressively indicated, but it happens regularly. Moreover, an hard reset follows the precess, thus, at the end, me too found WM in factory default mode. I liberated WM again, but till now i wasn't able to flash another ROM just to check if my Shift has been HardSPL'ed.
After many days without sleeping , i've just made the first call with my shift. Thank you, thank you and thank you.
we are waiting for keyborad solution, it's AZERTY but it shows QWERTY when typing.
Thank for all you did, you do and you'll do for us.
HELP!
I have been searching for possible solutions but cannot find one. Is it possible to Liberate a shift without a working sim card. I left ATT for Sprint years ago, so I do not have an active sim card.

[TUT] Task 29 (Format internal memory) XPeria X1

Hello, i have searched on xda-developers how to use Task 29 tool, and it's not explained very well, so i am going to explain you how to use it... I would like to thank to agent_47 for his explanation, and link.
We use Task 29 to format phone memory. When we install a lot of ROMs, sometimes new ROM just overwrite old ROM files, not delete them. That cause new ROM to unstability.
(IMPORTANT) Using Task 29, phone memory will be deleted, but it won't delete you SPL and Radio
1. Connect your XPeria X1 to PC in Disk Drive mode.
2. Transfer the custom ROM you want to install on ROOT of memory card and make sure that it's named "kovsimg.nbh"
3. Disconnect phone from USB.
4. (IMPORTANT) DO NOT TURN OFF DEVICE, JUST REMOVE MEMORY CARD!
5. Download the Task 29
(Click here to download Task 29)
6. Extract it to Desktop
7. Connect phone in ActiveSync mode. (wait until installs drivers itself)
8. Now open "task29" folder, and there is 9 items.
9. Run ROMUpdateUtility (Vista/7 Users - right click>Run as Administrator)
10. Follow on screen instructions, and it will start to clean storage. (It says that this process takes up to ten minutes, but it only takes 2,3 minutes top)
11. When the bar comes to 100%, press finish.
12. (IMPORTANT) THE PHONE WILL REBOOT ITSELF AND IT WILL STUCK ON SONY ERICSSON LOGO! But that's okay, because there is no ROM to run, we just cleaned the phone storage.
13. Remove battery and insert memory card. (We put custom ROM on memory card in step 2)
14. Put battery and cover on, and press the volume button down, and power button, and HOLD BOTH BUTTONS UNTIL 3-colored screen shows.
15. That's it, now follow on-screen instructions to install custom ROM, and when done, i strongly reccomend to HARD RESET PHONE.
Hard Reset - Press two buttons below screen (left and right) and hold it, and press the power button UNTIL VIBRATE, then release the power button, BUT STILL HOLD TWO BUTTONS BELLOW THE SCREEN (IMPORTANT)
That's it, i have done it for the first time, and i was looking for explanation like this ( I do not want to brag myself ) So i hope i made you easy this process, and belive me, my phone it really works faster after Task 29.
Also, take a look at my other thread "Installing new custom ROM using phone" in which is explained how to install a custom ROM also step-by-step.
That's a great guide to flashing ROMs! Very straightforward and clear.
Wish it existed when I was flashing a custom ROM for the first time.
It would be nice to have it stickied as it's really very helpfull and informative.

Well, we need to reset phone BEFORE FIRST RUN
I don't think that's actually necessary. But you would be wasting a lot of time to configure the system if you activated the phone before the hard reset (because then you have to configure it again anyways).

Thanks for your help milancex. I am running Windows 7 (genuine) and I have reinstalled WMDC. My Xperia is still not recognized in bootloader mode.
I reran the X1_HardSPL.exe and it was able to connect (it probably loads bootloader drivers). It seems that HardSPL uninstalls the bootloader drivers when it finishes running
A check of the properties of the Unknown Device under Device Manager when I connect my X1 in bootloader mode says that windows stopped the device because there was a problem with it.
Any other ideas?
