Theme: To me, a theme just consists of button overlays to match the visual appearance of an OS environment.
Environment: To me, an environment consists of a working realtime customizable desktop, with custom scripts executed on button taps/ holds etc to simulate the useability of a OS environment.
EDIT: Sorry, so theme is the wrong word. I mean't environment in the subject title.
Well, I have searched the entire internet, but can't believe there is nothing that is worth using. Wisbar is lacking in vital functions needed to simulate a working Windows XP environment such as moveable windows which resize and minimize, draggable icons on the desktop, the list goes on. Projects are either no longer available, been suspended or even when they are available they are incompatible. I have tried various vista environments, and while they are somewhat visually similar to the real OS, they just aren't functional enough to use in everyday use. So, would anyone else agree that this is it as far as XP and vista environments go? If not, please reply and post some quality links to show what I haven't searched hard enough for and I'll kiss your boots .
dont you think that draggable resizable windows are a bit redundant on a windows mobile screen?
how many windows can you fit in such a small screen and actually work on them?
if you need that, i think that it is best that you look for a tablet with win7 in the near future
Because mobiles aren't desktops. You use alternative ways to navigate. You no longer focus on displaying as much info as possible, but instead focus on displaying it clearly and nicely.
well, I don't have a 24" screen on my phone, so what you are suggesting would be so tiny on your telephone it is rather impossible to work with neither will it be fingerfriendly for all day use. I already found the wisbar themes to tiny to use smoothly.
Of course a complete simulation will look nice, but for daily use it will be the most annoying thing to work with I guess.
Cheers,
Arnold
Hey thanks for replies. Yea, I guess you're right. It would be a pain to navigate etc. Suppose I'm a windows desktop fanatic who loves customisation too much . I don't know I just don't find windows mobile very customizable. I can't believe how hack-free the WM ROM is. I imagined being able to hack all the system files with resource hacker and change loads of things, but, none of that seems to work and the files are very well embedded into the system and are nothing but read-only.
What I'll try for now is playing around with Wisbar Advance and see if I can make it look similar to my winXP.
Cheers.

From my gatherings, you'll have to be either very lucky or you'll just have to wait until something useable is developed. I'm working on a skin, but it'll only be for the TG01 and I can't program so it won't be amazing. It'll just really be a visual representation of my windows desktop, but I'm not using WAD because as soon as you lauch a WM dedicated program, you leave the windows environment. The only way this will ever work I think is for people to sort of embed the programs within a windows xp window within WAD, but from I have seen, WAD is unable to do this.
By the way, don't you think it's funny how Microsoft have put the start menu at the top of the screen? Seems like it's a way to make it impossible to have a start menu at the bottom of the screen.
I'll use wisbar advance 2 and see what i can come up with and if it's any good, I'll post it up.
P.S. Every single vista theme I have downloaded has not been compaible for my TG01 .

i havent had any problems personally, and i havent heard of any serious problems.
and i have a comparably old device (i900 omnia)
you should try it and just keep a backup if you're afraid so you can revert to an official rom.
in my opinion, cooked roms are in their majority better than official ones

Now I see I would have burnt my phone if it were not for custom ROMs.
Well, I was actually thinking of trying to flash a custom ROM, but then after reading this thread

I am totally put off. It only takes for the phone to hang as it's installing or something and that's it, there's no way of getting back onto the homescreen again. Have thought about it, not worth it to be honest, I'll wait for an official release (if ever ones becomes available). As it is, ROM Extractor has buggered up my device it seems . Was using it last night to extract some EXEs and this morning, the start button was totally inoperable. That's literally all I did . Haven't modified the original ROM files in any way; like anyone could anyway,. they're completely hack-proof.

Thanks very much for the link, but unfortunately, I created this thread after trying this out lol. No offense to the guy who created it, it looks nice visually and clearly resembles the windows 7 theme, but it just doesn't have any functionality. Once you load up a program, as always, you're out of the desktop environment and the taskbar at the top becomes visible again. I think, someone really needs to fix this issue and then the problem will be solved (well almost). As for moveable windows and such, I agree it would make navigation quite awkward on the small screen, I guess that's the beauty of windows mobile, but I just wish there was more software available like in the desktop versions.

I just installed the latest build of PointUI (www.pointui.com) on my TyTN II, and really like the slick interface and touch capability. Anyone else running this app, and if so have you run into any issues? The fact that the software will remain a free product makes it worth the "testing".
Thanks.
James
Theres a couple of threads on this already. I have installed it but my TyTN II locks up every time within 2 minutes of starting, even after a soft-reset so have given up for now.
I may give it another go when they fix all the bugs listed on their forums and add more features to make it more usable and by then hopefully my lockup issues will be solved as well.
I did use it for some days but I hate that the 'close' button is not an actual close button at all. It just minimizes the app instead of closing it. So it is very memory consuming.
But I did like the interface and the way it worked. Just wait a little longer to have them some issues solved.
plexat they have just fixed the close program issue today with this update
http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/hardwarekeys2/home.zip
Copy the exe over the old one and you now have a close button instead of a minimize one!
It also fixes the issue with hardware buttons not working.
the background color is horrid and the icons are goofy. but the app itself is pretty slick and i like the update manager.
i haven't used it that much, but the only bug i've experienced is while swiping my finger from side to side to move the applet ribbon the touch cube activates. i didn't know it could activate with a side to side motion.
anyway, for a beta product this thing is incredible. it has huge potential. after revisions, i think this will be a must-have app.
just installed it on my phone and it works for about 2 mins before freezing, once already its reduced my screen to randon red and yellow dots, so thats getting uninstalled.
shame really as the 5 mins i did get to spend playing with it i was quite impressed
or i would if it had a proper uninstaller
very nice!
Just installed this in a WM6 emulator (having no real WM6 hardware at this time) and I must say it is superb! It feels like an iPhone (heresy to say something around here, I know). I almost have to say that it is better then TouchFLO (Yet another heresy to say something around here).

No problem. I dont really know how I found it I have a tendancy to go to forums and open all threads that interest me by holding ctrl down and clicking on them. Then I read through and close them as I go.
I just happened to come across the update in one of the threads I was reading! One of the developers had posted a link to the file in the middle of a thread.

The cube activating is due to your touchflo config file. All you need to do is edit the config file to exclude pointui and the cube will not activate while pointui is open.

PointUI - some notes
Great app, but the problem is it cannot start my 3G connection when e.g. updating weather, or using update manager.
DAMN!
When I start the connection manually from normal WM6 interface, it works then, but it's annoying...
Any help with this?
Thanks,

You know, the saddest part about it all is that even with our $700+ dollar devices (unless you're like me and sold your soul to AT&T... $150 Kaiser baby!) we're all dying for a UI like this. Tell you what, if it wasn't for you guys and the xda-developers community, there's no way in hell I would have gotten this phone. Dutty's ROMs are magical stuff, man. Tell you what, after a few more weeks/months of dev. and a full version with a less... erm... blue background, I'd pay $50 for this program if it allows me to get through my day without ever seeing any part of the traditional Windows Mobile UI. I'd pick it up for $100 if they included integrated task manager, file explorer, media player, web browser, and other essential software. Hell, I'd gladly go higher if they allowed me to never have to see any part of Windows Mobile GUI again. The Kaiser kills the iPhone in functionality (that's why we're all here, right?), but man pointUI is a step in the right direction towards closing the "sexiness" gap.
Okay, rant over.
I'm note sure I would pay $100 for the UI, but I do agree that this is exactly what Windows Mobile needs. Overall function is great and with just a few minor fixes/changes this would be the killer app for any WM device.

I cannot agree more than what you say. HTC is a superb tool designed by engineers with some "help" from designer people. I love it, but my god the interface is sometimes not sexy at all (just compare the icons of pointui as an exemple
Iphone is a superb tool made by designers. I love it from a purely design point of view, but it lacks a lot of things engineers love (openness, 3G+, GPS, etc.)
Now the TYTNII plus a pointUI type interface would be the top must. The very few minutes I spent with pointUI, I loved it. I will keep it as soon as it really work and have more customization.
Now, I am sticked to HTC, because it is quite easier to adapt a new interface to an existing device, than the contrary
Thx

I had the same.. fairly easy to fix:
get yourself a registry editor (PHM for example)
navigate to: \HKCU\software\microsoft\today\keys\112
change: Default string to 'phone' (from Home)
change: Open string to '\windows\cprog.exe'
then i'd do a soft reset.
should work..

Does anybody know a program, or how to edit the start menu bar so that it goes down to the bottom of the screen instead of staying at the top? (Like a PC)
(P.S I don't think WisBar does it, and even if it does, it screwed my TyTN II up bad. Plz don't suggest it...)
Well, i think Wisbar Advance Desktop is the only way (correct me if i'm wrong). With WAD you can build your own desktop from scratch.
Yeah, but WAD only works on the Today Screen... i want the start menu bar (top bar) to stay at the bottom in other programs too.
Thanks anyway
I am looking for the same thing. I used Wisbar to customize the Start menu to look like WinXP. I need to get the whole bar with the Start button on the bottom of the screen and can't discover how....
May i suggest a Windows CE 2.11 Palm-Size PC in that case....

Sorry mate, we're only looking for applications for WM5 and WM6 Professional that can move the start menu to the bottom.
Also, i saw a bootloader, called "Harret" (i think) and it moves the taskbar to the bottom. I dunno how they did that, but i'm sure other people here want to know how. Any other ideas? I'd love to have my phone actually looking like a WINDOWS mobile phone.
your right about haret pulling down the start menu to the bottom. i also want to know how they have done that

That is probably because the OP posted this question almost two years ago with no luck, because it is not possible.
I literally just bought my at&t tilt today, and when I bought it the guy I got it from suggested I come here to do some digging on modifying/personalizing my Tilt to my liking. Now, I'm somewhat of a computer nerd. I can work through most issues with my PC without having to call customer service or hit up forums or anything. I have no experience with pocket PCs or windows mobile however.
I've read the multiple notices here advising to read around first before asking dumb questions, but I have to say that I'm still completely lost and don't even know where to begin. I really don't have complicated intentions, I'm almost 100% satisfied with the phone as-is...regardless, I still just have no idea what to even start with, so I figured I would just throw that out there and hopefully get pointed in the right direction. Hopefully I'll be able to take it from there, but the tutorials, wikis, and FAQs that I was advised to browse through first (and I apologize if I'm just not seeing it, again I'm a WM noob) just aren't getting me there.
All I'm really interested in doing is changing my home screen. Other things I want to do I don't even know if it's possible to do so, or if I even have to download anything!
So maybe just one more shove in the right direction?
Try This
This is not going to change your rom......This will give a new look totally...I think you'll like it...Install it from your desk top

Mike

I agree here
pointUI
Wisbar advance (check out the skins for this app..)
If you know a bit of XML try RLtoday
oh, and search for "Ultimate launch" on the forum...
ummm check out the second link in my sig.
I'm in the same boat as you. There is so much information here, it's quite overwhelming. I want to get the most out of my device, but I just don't have he time to really get into it.
Well you have to start somewhere, so just say where you want to go.
Would you like to make the phone look different?
Would you like to add your own ringtones?
Themes?
gps stuff?
roms?
seriously look at the second link in my signature.
I suggest that you use it for a while to get used to it, then read, then try changing it. Just my 2 cents.
I'm guessing your question is more basic than the answeres provided. If you just want to change your today screen, check out the "Today" applet under "Settings" on the start menu. You can choose from a variety of default plugins, and some of them have options you can change (simply click the options button if it's enabled). As you install more apps, they may have Today Screen plugins as well.
DO NOT GO THROTTLE LAUNCHER.... i like the guy that developed it but it has become obsolete with manilla 2d, personally i stayed away from flashing for a long time but now that i have started i'm addictted it provides alot better preformance from your ppc, i would highly recommend it
my favorite rom right now is the garmin dk4 manilla just make sure you read up before, its not that complicated once you get the hang of it. biggest thing is make sure to flash hard spl before you flash anything else
Here's some advice from someone who has had pocket pc's for a long time. I am also half a century old, so this advice comes from experience and not theory.
Keep your Kaiser/TyTN II/Tilt, whatever it is, as stock standard as possible. Do not flash new roms etc etc. This is the cause of most problems here unless you are really clued up on this, which it seems you are not at the moment. I won't even try it.
There are many third party apps out there and in here which will not affect the normal functioning and enjoyment of your device. Most of them are freeware.
Today themes are dime a dozen, heck, you can create your own with freeware apps like ThemegenCE (Desktop app which creayes the Tsk file for your device theme and even TKCreator which is a theme creation app directly on your device I (Also freeware and more basic than the former).
You need Total Commander, a freeware File Explorer much better than than one shipped wth the device. Quickmenu 2.7 makes using the device a pleasure and hardly requires the stylus. This provides a task manager, drop down menus, controls for device utilities like bluetooth, wifi, soft resetting etc. You also need Mortplayer which is the best MP3 player and is freeware and of course TCPMP with flashvideo bundle for video clips/movies/flash video from websites etc. This all for free. Heck, here are even freeware GPS apps for navigation out there, eg Amaze GPS and Nav4All, or just go full hog and buy the best like TomTom. TodayAgenda is a Today Plugin for calendar appointments and is one of the best and totally free. S2U2 developed by A_C from XDA is a cool screen saver/slide to unlock app which is free and highly customisable with animated gifs as wallpaper etc.
This would be a good start for you.

MAC

So you say you want a cup of Joe, or a MilkShake, or some other secret code word for a lil’ something in your PayPal account for your work, creativity and energy? Hey, this NEWBIE is all for it – hell, I’m glad to donate; but I be needed some help!
Where I’m at – right now, the Midwest USA, Omaha Nebraska to be specific. Where I’m at with my phone / HH device – it is a work issued HTC Touch Pro. I’ve had it about 3 months now, Alltel is my carrier and it came with a CRAP boring, dull grey Theme that can’t be changed, allegedly, when I’m using the Touch Flo3D.
Work offers several carriers; Verizon guys with the same phone have a much cooler “stock” theme – and oh sure, I can mess with the Today setting and get some goop red called Guava Bubbles to linger above and below in the bands, but mostly, it really sucks. Plus, the damn thing is slow – I hit my 4 code password and 1 out of 4 times the damn thing says I have the wrong PW – no I don’t you beyotch, I KNOW my password. Weather? I can UbitchInStein in Upper Mongolia but not the town I grew up in, Boulder Colorado, WTF is up with that?
I know just enough about technology to be dangerous – I can find the ROM versions and all that stuff, navigate config files a little, copy files using Active Sync and so on – and hey, my RingTones rock (http://sites.google.com/site/bcwsite4now/Home/filecabine) I can strip the hell out of a DVD, edit using Adobe Premier Elements and you might laugh your ass off if you know the movie scenes.
But for the life of me I can’t figure out this deal I downloaded called Manila Editor from Sascha Lange and Dimitry (you guys sound like Russian mob, please don’t kill me) - and now I’m reading this Manila Customizer - Customize Clocks, Icons, Sliders etc [1 Nov] New Version thread from Gramps or Grumps or the Gimp from Pulp Fiction (see Ringtone reference) above and it starts to look like I am getting close – Clocks, Icons, Sliders – hmm, that’s what I want, and really cool ones!!
So I DL and UZ a bunch of stuff from some thread and now I have some cool looking graphics in a bunch of folders on my PC that look like they work together in a TouchFlo 3D setting, but I have no friggin idea how to get them from my hard drive to my phone without brickin’ the damn phone; remember, work issue phone. {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2891202#post2891202}
Plus, over at PPC Geeks or some other board, they were all hot on some TouchFlo 3D speeder upper program and steps with a new Stock Watcher Icon using the 3G network and a better Weather app; so I PM a dude over there about 45 days ago and he tells me, “yo, newbie, read a bunch and then PM me back.”
Dude, I have 3 kids, all under 6 and a wife who likes me to do dishes once in awhile, read a bunch of stuff on Google and THEN ask for help? No thanks, I’d rather pay your arse. So, the end of my story goes like this – who wants to help me and what is your price?
Can I make my own icons, sliders and clock graphics using PhotoShop or some other program? If so, what sizes should I aim for in each at what resolution?
How do I get all the cool **** on my PC now to my phone? Say I wanted to pick one of the themes, I think, like Panosha Shine 2.2 on my phone and ditch Mister Alltel BoreMeToFngTearsGrey?
What can I do to speed this ***** up? Add the Stock Application, and make the Weather App a little bit more relevant to my small Midwest World?
My dream phone, and your personal challenge: A faster HTC Touch Pro with a rocking U2 theme in black, red and grey or white that snags icons from the album All That You Can’t Leave Behind or How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and a cool clock that uses the font from the album War circa 1982 – hey, I’m old. It will have this much rumored, never seen by me improved Weather App and this Stock Market app so I can watch my 401K tank to 187K 24/7.
If someone can make all that happen, Monster Size Milkshakes and Jumbo Coffee all around!
Thanx for reading my rant.
No PMs plz – email [email protected]

Is there a better site for folks like me -- was the potential for milkshakes and joe offensive?
I thought it was funny; maybe it wasn't? And, no comments on the Pulp Fiction ringtones??
Someone help me with the nuances of a programmer's onlline community -- there is talent out here galore; maybe I'm just 'lookin' for love in all the wrong places' -- figure of speech only.
In the immortal words of Jim Rome, Newbie is out!
I think you should try NRG's Energy ROM. It's already customized with a slew of tweaks and additional software. In addition to that you can use Showaco's BBExtreme theme for TF3D2. It's gonna take SOME reading to learn about your device so you don't brick it...and if that's gonna be a problem then I'll tell ya like I told my dad.....just get an iPhone. They're already setup outta the box with very little understanding required
1) Flash HardSPL to your device. Only have to do this once.
2) Flash EnergyROM 04052009 version. Link is on 1st page of his thread. I always flash from the sd card...safer, easier, faster, more portable. Simply plug your device into computer with usb cable and select disk drive. Copy 'RAPHIMG.nbh' to the root of storage card. Make a backup of everything. Then:
Hold down the Volume Down key while u press and release the reset button. Follow directions on the screen. After the screen appears for you to tap and align the screen, Hard Reset (Hold Vol down + Center button, then press and release reset button)
3) Copy BBExtreme cab to your storage card and click it to install. Soft reset, and you're done.
I'm afraid others are just as busy as you. I have 5 week-old twins at home and I read these forums while holding a bottle in their mouths. It's highly unlikely that anyone is going to spend hours to customize your device for you, and then provide customer service for the things that don't work exactly as they should. It takes time to learn these devices, I've been at it for over 5 years and still consider myself a noob. Good luck

Don't flash any gsm rom to a cdma device (Alltel) you will brick it. you might want to try ppcgeeks for your phone http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=68
Thanks man, forgot Alltel was CDMA.
modding your phone takes a fair amount of reading and research. i understand that you're busy but theres not much other than that we can tell you. i started out http://blownfuze.org/ there and read pretty much the whole page before i even started. And even with just that website i wasnt satisfied.
spend some time reading that website, get an idea of what on there you like, and start from there. install a ROM (i suggest EnergyROM) and go from there. it takes a lot of reading before you know what you're doing. and dont ever assume you know how to fix something, its safer to look it up here than to try it. liek if you dont know how to install a ROM, theres a beginners guide. dont just try stuff. thats how you brick your phone.
you can change the stock theme i have an altell TP and i changed the TF3D theme a couple times- do a search for touch pro themes there was a thread with a bunch of them find one you like and you can load it with a program called Diamond TF3D Config- there are a lot of good free themes but probably not one just what you described
looks like you already found some themes i think they came in a zip when i did mine, put them on your phone not in a folder just the first menu then load with the program from above, just search and you will find that program
Installing a theme won't brick your phone, but it's a good idea to back everything up prior to messing with manila. Try out fuzeberry or onyx or any of the themes listed here or in the Diamond themes forum. Since it's a work phone, flashing roms may not be such a great idea. Dear lord, if you do, DO NOT FLASH ENERGY ROM!!!!! As mentioned above, it will brick your phone. Go over to geeks and try out Mighty Rom or Jughead rom or whatever catches your fancy.
You might look up giannis86 here. He's got a ton of really cool icons, and he's done some custom jobs for folks. Maybe he'll work 4 food. Anyway, I laughed my ass off.

I have a whole bunch of stuff to read and get lost in -- so thank you very much.
I have scanned the responses, but don't think any answered the PhotoShop Question -- can I somehow make my own slider icons (Home, Music, Message) etc using PhotoShop and then try (I'll be back for help) to get the graphics into one of them "#4875-manila" files?
Graphic size?
Resolution?
Best file format? JPG?
Do I need an up and down state, similar to a rollover on a web-nav button? (Ohhhh, the newbie knows rollover up-state -- maybe he's more than just a RingTone guy)
Thanks again!

Yeah, you can make your own icons. Like I said before, look up giannis86, and in his profile look up all the threads he started. Grab one of his icon packs, and look at the files with manila editor. You'll be able to figure out the correct sizes and resolutions.

This addon for photo shop will allow you to edit/save png files.
CFC GUI (you'll have to search on here for it). Will let you get the graphics files out of the manila files and also put them back in after editing.
As far as sizes, I usually just open one of the files up check the size and then open a new file and set the canvas that size. They are all different sizes depending on what icon your editing.

Newbie here-- I'll add my Congrats on the Twins.
Our twins turn 6 Thursday the 16th ; best 6 years of my life; just about to "graduate" from Kindergarten. Carson is our boy, Olivia the girl -- she won the "lose the first tooth" contest today.
My2 cents on twins -- get them sleeping and eating on the same schedule -- its easy after that!
Enjoy.
Dear Chefs,
thank you for all great work you have done so far!
I use the Energy ROM for about two months and I'm stunned about all the great features he provide.
However, there is one thing I can't stand: The lack of appointment- and task snoozing other then 5 minutes. This makes the remind function almost useless.
My German t-mobile branded TP2 (called: MDA Vario V) came with the option to snooze appointments and tasks by a selectable time. So I could choose remind me in one or half Hour for example or one day and many other options, rather than dismiss it over and over again every 5 minutes. This is really bugging me.
I found a fix from crackwhore but it seems to be not compatible with the current windows mobile 6.5 ROMs.
Because it is so important to me and, as I noticed, to many, many others I want to post a reward and invite everybody who want this feature to join me by posting how much you are willing to donate to the person who find a solution and share it with the community
A proper solution would be a fix that works for the latest generation of WM6.5 ROMs and it would be great to have it already cooked into the popular ROMs, including Energy ROM.
So if somebody finds a solution, everybody who joined me is asked to donate the promised amount to the person who provided the solution.
I start off with a offer of 10$
Feel free to join me and make suggestion.
And please be true to your word: Don't offer something you are not willing to donate.
Current Offers (25.10.2009 01:25 UTC):
10 US-$
and
0 €
Why dont you ditch MS with another commercial application in the market? Couldn't you able to find one? I dont remember it but there was a program like this. Google it I suggest.
You can set the "reminder" time as any minutes/hours/days when you add an appointment. Am I missing something here?
NVM, I solved it! I was able to replace the new Notification.dll that handles the notification bubbles with an old, stock one. See the next post for the solution I made!
Question
Did your stock German ROM have the notification manager, where you'd click the taskbar, and it brings up that full screen? And also, did it have the skinned notifications, like the EnergyROM does? Please just describe exactly how the stock ROM handled the notifications, describe it visually.
Information
I researched this for 5 hours, and I was trying to do this: I wanted to make the Notification Panel remain (Full screen when you click on Taskbar), BUT, I wanted to use the standard Windows Mobile notification popups, because those allow you to snooze better. Well, that's not possible, from what I could tell. It's either all or nothing, you can't mix Microsoft's and HTC's notification system.
Solution
So, you have to disable the entire thing, which means you won't have the finger friendly notification system when tapping on the top taskbar. You can find the registry to disable Notification Manager here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4125405&postcount=3
Advanced Notifications Power Snooze Appointments!
I solved it!! It's CABbed up, and available on my website, Wingster.
Get your solution here: http://thewingster.com/advancednotifications.aspx
And if you want to donate, then follow the link on the bottom of my Wingster website, or use this link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5401195
Maybe I should have waited longer, for the bounty to increase! Nah, I did this mostly for myself, but it did end up taking 5 hours! I hate registries!
How I Created It
I found the old NotificationLayout.dll, and used that one for handling the notification bubbles! This brings back the old WinMo notification style popups, but it also keeps the finger friendly notification panel! Win-win!
Imagine how fast the world is, I wish you could solve my break off with GF such a fast.
Have Fun, Cheers
Sunny
the solution that brings the old popups up, has been around since my touch x 6.0 and that is since december last year...
well well well......
Awesome. I had used the crackwhore one and it worked but this is better

FYI, crackwhore's is a better solution it doesn't eliminate the repeat function so what happens you get the alarm one time which was just as big a concern that I've had with some of the ROMs.

Lol dam. Wasted that effort for nothin? lol. Well we can add mine to the collection of CABs that do the exact same thing as the other
Hi,
sorry for the delay, but university was keeping me extremely busy this week.
However I'm glad you found a solution. It's so unimaginably convenient to be able to snooze the alarm!
However would it be possible to add some options? There is still room on the display for one option isn't it?
Very handy would be having options like four and twelve hours (half day).
I would rather surrender 10 minutes while already having 5 and 15 minutes.
(or maybe better: surrender 15 minutes while keeping 10)
However the current stage of development is already great and of cause I will stand my word of donating 10 bucks.
I invite everybody who like this fix to also support him since he was fair enough of not "waiting" for the bounty to increase first and he's doing a great job with his website anyway.
Best Regards, Time
PS: You are talking about other - already existing - solutions? I only found crackwhores fix and didn't get it to work. Well now I have a great one-click-solution I won't surrender ... would be just interesting to know.

By next week I will flash my ROM anyway so I could flash the stock ROM in between and check if that helps. Interested?

Yea, flash the stock German ROM, and see how that operates. It'd be very interesting if they kept the advanced snooze options while keeping the slick notification style too.
I think that editing the DLL's is impossible though, but I guess it'd be worth a try. My initial goal was to keep the skinned notifications but add the snoozing. That'd be the optimal goal, and I will try to see if that can be done!

Yourestarted your phone after installing it, right? Maybe his ROM has some different notification system...I could try to look into it if you can confirm it still didn't take effect after a restart.

Well.....
First, download This File, unzip it, and place the DLL in the \Windows directory of your phone.
Now, here's where it may be different, apparently. Using a registry editor (like PHM Registry), try to find the string that is called CustomUIDLL and contains NotificationLayout.dll.
That string key should be located under HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM, however since the CAB didn't work, Valkyrie must have changed the location of the registry key. See if you can find it. Once you do, change the string value to: "NotificationLayoutOld.dll"
Hopefully that'll get it working!

OK.
Under HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM i have one folder named "reminder" and 3 other items named "default", " customUIDLL", and "userdefaultUI"
if i click on customUIDLL the string already reads "NotificationLayoutOld.dll" ( iguess from when I applied the .cab file) so there is nothing to change!
Also here is a screenshot of the contents in the HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM/reminder folder that I mentioned above
should i be editing the autodismissextendedduration file?
BTW I forgot to mention that when i install the cab file instead of "snooze' at the bottom bar I get the "menu' on the right and also another symbol on the left (like a phone with an 'x' next to it" but if i click on any of them the notification goes away and does not come back
So in essence the .cab works (because it points it to something else) but the location it point to, doesnt contain the necessary file to show up when you click on the the "menu' icon or the other icon that comes up SORRY I DIDNT MENTION THAT EARLIER BUT I WASNT AWARE OF IT TILL NOW.....
