Device: HTC TyTN II
Bootloader: KAIS130
SPL-3.28.0000
CPLD-8
ROM: RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship
Problem: I tried to sync the device with my desktop (running XP Media Center edition sp3) using ActiveSync 4.5 like I normally do. However, this time the device wouldn't sync and it would just hang. I unplugged the device from USB so that I could try again. The phone immediately went into bootloader. It is currently stuck in this mode.
Steps taken:
First I called HTC tech support hotline. The rep walked me through several steps, but nothing fixed the problem. We tried soft resetting, holding down the power + camera buttons and then soft resetting, hard resetting: nothing worked. He then stated that the device's ROM probably got erased when I unplugged it from USB. He instructed me to download the official 6.1 ROM from HTCs website and then try to re-flash the phone.
I tried doing this, but I still cannot get the ROM onto the device. In bootloader, I plug the device into USB and I get an error message that the device is not recognized. I soft reset the phone and then run the RUU and it begins to flash the device. After 10 minutes, I get a message saying that the flash was successful but the phone just resets back to bootloader.
After searching through the forum and wiki, I am still at a loss as to how to proceed without instruction from an expert. I think I read something about using mtty, but I am afraid to do so on the Kaiser because I read that typing the wrong instructions could be disastrous.
I humbly request any kind Kaiser experts to help me with my problem! Thanks

I suggest getting in touch with the moderator named GSLEON3. He is probably going to be your best bet of getting back up and running. Good Luck
Ok, I can't get in touch with GSLEON3 (I'm sure he's extremely busy) and I don't want to pester him so if anyone else out there can help, I certainly appreciate it. Here is my theory for the solution based on further reading of these forums (but since I have no technical training I don't know if I am even on the right track). I'd appreciate if anyone with the proper knowledge can confirm or reject this course of action:
1. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete)
kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
2. put your device into the cradle
3. Run mtty and Choose WCEUSBSH001 in 'PORT' (if it doesn't show then you didn't stop all active sync processes above!)
4. type "set 16 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset. (for some devices it can also be "set 14 0")
5. type "task 8" to get your device formatted
6. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
7. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.

redbandana cautions that one must use HardSPL or risk bricking the device. However, in the post about SPL Questions it states:
"Well, at the moment this is where we are at. We are still investigating the full effects of what an SPL can do to vary the performance of an OS. For now there is a large consensus that the newer HTC 6.1 ROM SPL seems to work well for most of the newer 6.1 ROMS (stock and cooked)."
So my question is, will the stock SPL that came with the official HTC 6.1 ROM be ok to use mtty, or do I need to flash the old HardSPL?
I appreciate any advice on how to proceed, especially if I am totally wrong about how to fix this. Thanks!

mtty is not a toy and there are some risks of bricking involved. Anyhow, it is a tool that is used for situations similar to yours. Follow the steps that are provided. Step 3 may be different for different pc's, so just look for port 1. After you run mtty, install a version of hard spl. If you plan on installing a 6.1 rom, install a spl that is compatible with it such as, 3.28hard, 3.29, or the new 3.56. I'll be around for an hour feel free to pm me.
Sorry mate, usually takes me a day to catch up with my PM's, etc...
I can't say for sure on the 3.28 SPL as I have not disassembled it. Well, technically I did, just to prove a point that it was the same as 3.29, but I didn't document any of the commands.
The 3.28 HardSPL is NOT an MFG spl, so it definitely WON'T support some functions. I don't know what all the fuss is about SPL's. I use my own customized version, based of course on Jocky's work, but it's still a 1.1 SPL version & I never have any trouble.
For the 3.28 & .29 SPL's, I do know that if you are stuck because of an RUUNBH error, the correct sequence is:
cmd>set 16 0
cmd>task 8
Task 8 is not "format", I don't know where you got that & task 0 will freeze out MTTY.
Have you done an info 8 command?
cmd>info 8
That will tell you more about the issue.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, only connect mtty to USB, not to port. You can mess other things up like external drives, etc. Ports are only when connecting to OEMSBL/Radio Boot Loader.
BTW, a screwed up USB port pin or block can cause this issue as well. Take a look at the pin block, is it perfectly straight?
Ok, here's the weird thing. I was going to try the mtty to do info 8 command, and I powered on the device (it had the SIM card and microSD card removed.) The device started up and performed a hard reset, and then loaded up! It had a ROM on it! Not the original factory ROM that was loaded (which had TomTom preloaded) but the factory ROM I downloaded from the HTC e-club that I tried to flash. I thought my issue was solved, so I put in the SIM card. However, when I turned on the device (with SIM card in) I get the bootloader screen. What the heck is going on?

Yes, it is straight.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for trying to help me. It's all a bit too confusing for me so I just decided to bite the bullet and send it into HTC. Thanks again!
After I did a hard reset, a strange problem appeared.
When I press the power button to put the device in sleep, it does, but after 4-5 seconds it automaticly switches back on.
I tried several things such as soft resetting the device, close all running programs and even another hard reset, but it won't work. I didn't install any programs so far...
More information about my ROM version etc.
Official HTC NLD Rom WM 6.1
ROM Version 3.29.404.0
Radio 1.65.17.56
I hope someone knows something I can try...

i see you have already tried the following but i'm going to write down how i would go about debugging the problem anyway. first, i would try the following steps in the following order to ensure it is not a software issue (it seems you have already eliminated the possibility that this is a software issue):
0. ensure you are using the correct hard SPL for your ROM. if you have never flashed a custom ROM and if you are using the ROM that came with your phone factory installed, you need not worry about this step or step 2 onwards
1. hard reset your phone and check the behavior of the sleep button BEFORE installing ANY of your favorite cabs and software...you have already done this
2. it is recommended to re-download the ROM image and re-flash it to minimize the possibility of a corrupted download or a bad flash
3. it is also recommended to hard reset your phone immediately after flashing the ROM at the point where it says "tap here to begin", i.e. before the screen alignment wizard
4. once again, test the behavior of the sleep button BEFORE installing ANY of your favorite cabs and software
now lets assume it is a hardware issue...here is a nugget of information that might help you. i remember reading a thread here started by a person who described a problem very similar to yours. it involved a "stuck" camera button. you see, the camera button is TWO-stage...and if the half-press stage is "stuck", your phone will never go to sleep properly. search for this thread for more information.
finally, if this is indeed a hardware issue, it seems strange that it appeared only after you did that very first hard reset...but life is full of coincidences !
good luck!
thanks for your suggestions, I will try them and post results.
no success
I tried the things you suggested, but it doesn't work. I also tried the power button when it says "tap your device..." but the device woke up after 4-5 seconds also.
I checked my buttons (especially the camera button, but that one seems to be well... I can feel the two "clicks" and I can take a picture in a normal way)
I'm thinking it might be a ROM problem or something like that... (but my problem is, if I want to go back to the previous official HTC ROM, the 6.0 one, I probably have to use HardSPL, but I don't like that much because of warranty...)
Ok other question... Can I install the Dutch Vodafone ROM on a non-branded HTC device, or could I get VendorID errors or something similar if I want to keep the original SPL?
fixed!
Ok, I fixed it after installing HardSPL 3.29 and flashing the latest WWE ROM...
Now my power button works perfectly!
Hi. I am trying to unlock and flash my T-Mobile MDA, but as soon as I open and hit update on the wizard button rom the phone shuts down and then doesnt start back up to show me the beer screen. It is a G3 device and it is CID locked. SIM is also locked. Any suggestions?
i have
the same problems.
It´s a MDA from german t-mobile with G3 - so a wizard.
But i searched about 2 days but it´s not possible to get into bootloader mode. The original firmware update also is NOT working because restart in bootloader not works.
But there IS a solution that i´m trying just at this time - try ShellTool (search in Forum) and you will get lucky. The first Software update from t-mobile just worked now i´m flashing version 3.x to try.
But don´t forget to first enable RAPI on it - the easiest solution is with "Wizard Service Tool", because else you won´t have luck in updating.
And be sure to ONLY prepare a G3 phone in that way (when rebooting you can see it in the versions of IPL and SPL - if they are something like 1.06 or 2.21 or so you have luck - but 2.xx.xxxx is a G4 phone there you have to pay attention (look into forum for more infos).
After that i want to get wm6.1 on it.
If there is somebody who has an idea getting into or updating the bootloader then he is greatly welcome
And yes i tried camera button, power button, soft reset and so on - also (some people wrote down) i tried to put in USB Cable - every time i press camera and want to restart there is NO reaction of the phone until i make a new soft reset!
Thanks man. i will definitely try the shell tool out. If any one else has more suggestions that would be great!
Update: WM 6.1 is now working on it - but still with the old bootloader. I don´t now, why there is no possibility to get into it but now it´s not my problem any more
Best regards!
Stefan

Hi guys!
I have been trying everything that I could find on XDA to fix my problem.
I got this HTC clone a few weeks ago, and it was working fine.
I decided to install a UI on it and it worked fine. After a while I got bored of the UI, so I decided to uninstall it. After the uninstall, the device indicated that it needed to be restarted. I did that, but after it rebooted, it started to reinstall Windows Mobile 6.1. I was annoyed by this, but was like, whatever, and let it continue.
Where the real problem started was when the device froze up (I left it alone for over an hour, but there was no change).
I then had to pull the battery. After I put the battery back into the T5355 it just keeps getting stuck on the "TOUCH Diamond2" screen.
I tried all the hard reset and soft reset tricks I could find and have no been able to either setting it back to factory or bootloader mode.
I was able to find a post that described how to place the boo.ini, flash.bin, and loader.bin file onto my micro sd card. I was able to to get the boot.ini an flash.bin files, but can't seem to find a loader.bin file (it that the actual OS rom?). I then found a post that showed how to use HiSilicon IDT to force the install of the OS Bin file (C02_HTC_20091102_R2127_英全视角B包.bin).
I followed the instructions on placing the T5355 into "Download" mode and pushing the OS bin fine to it.
I am able get the IDT software to detect the T5355 and start pushing the install, but the damned thing ends up giving an XLDR error.
PLEASE! PLEASE! Somebody help me! This phone is brand new and really want to get it working again.
Model: HTC(?) T5355
Please help me someone!!
Is there anyone out there that can help me???
I am so frustrated and can think of what else to do!
The biggest problem I have is that I can't use ActiveSync. If I could use that I wouldn't have much trouble.
Does anyone know how to use HiSilicon's IDT properly? The instructions I was working off of are in Russian. I think that a need a loader.bin file for the T5355 that I can put on my micro sd card...or maybe not...I don't know.
I just really want to get this device back to factory settings.
Please someone take pity on me!!!
enter bootloader [those orizontal strange colors]
try flashing a new rom. you may search and download the original 6.5 build from HTC
to enter bootloader, press "volume down + shutdown button" and then flash the rom
ATENTION: plug the USB cable, wait a few seconds, you should see USB on the lowest white color, then do the flashing job
I don't think you would be experiencing these problems with an original topaz
Please take care this is a HTC CLONE

DalvuS, thanks for the reply, but the issue is that I can't seem to get into bootloader mode . I wish I could. The T5355 seems to be stuck in the middle of wm 6.1 install. I need to somehow wipe the install and be able to push a reinstall back to the device.

Exca that comment doesn't help me. It just makes me more sad. I was gipped when I bought the phone . I thought I paid for a "real" Diamond 2.
If you can't to catch the bootmode, looks like hardware problem.
You can't to repair it at home, imho. Try the specialized service.
..............
... and: are you sure about key combination for bootloader screen for CLONE?
Hello people, how can i dump my rom from my phone (mfu w71) for backup, because i cannot find any rom in english only in chinese. I started to dump the chinese rom with some chinese kitchen (K3系列ROM工具), but i'm stuck. I do not know to do anymore i have extracted ROM, SYS folder. I think it would be good to start another section on this forum for the chinese phones.
Some help from experienced cookers would me be much apreciated.
My T5355 is up and working!!!
Thanks to everyone who replied to my post!!!
I discovered that the problem was that the PC I was attempting the install from was running an AMD based processor.
I tried on the family laptop (which runs an Intel processor) and the install worked!
I AM SOOOO HAPPY!!!
b0gdi good luck with your issue. Try doing a search here in XDA for "dump my phone".
nothing[switched off] -> press start -> command -> bootloader -> bootloader commands -> system start -> play
checking one by one by interfering would have done the trick
I'm glad to hear that... so now you're ok

some body have a same problem or can help me with this ?
Hi Guys,
So I finally decided to update my Xperia radio for better reception and hopefully to see if it magically fixes the Screen of or Stand by of Death issues, associated with many of the Xperia custom ROMs, however, I have run into a critical problem here:
The instructions tell you to copy the Rom Update Utility and the .nbh file to a new folder. Then sync your phone with WMDC and run the Update Utility from the computer and follow the on-screen directions.
This is what happens for me:
When I sync and connect my Xperia and launch the Rom Update Utility, the on-screen directions keep referring to the update as ROM and not as a RADIO. It tells me the changes that will happen in the "image" and etc. When I finally decide update the radio from my computer, my phone goes into the tri color HardSPL mode, and the USB connection from my computer breaks. The phone gives the option to update the rom by hitting the power button, while the on-screen process errors out and breaks, because of a "connection error." This royally screws my phone, cause then I HAVE to reflash my phone to get it back to the working state.
I am sure someone has seen this issue before, I tried search, but not much luck... can anyone help please? I would really appreciate it!
In case it matters, the Radio version I am trying to update from is like 1.06 to the 1.6?
Thanks for any help in advance, everyone!
Really guys? No help from anyone?
Thanks for any help in advance!
I used these steps and it works 100% every time. Flashed several radio roms.
-Download the radio rom.
-Charge your phone to 100%.
-Make sure your xperia is hard-spl. (atleast I think this is needed, best to do so anyway)
-Copy the rom file (usually called 'ruu_signed.nbh') to your storage card.
-rename the rom file to 'Kovsimg.nbh'.
-Turn off your xperia.
-Turn it back on into boot-loader mode. You can do so by holding down the 'volume down' button and the power button simultaneously.
-Follow the onscreen instructions.
-When it's done updating the radio take out the battery and turn your xperia back on. No need for a hard-reset or anything.
This should be a failsafe guide.
@stihl: very detailed
in short: flashing radios is like flashing roms, it just finishes faster due to file size
I have only flashed a "custom rom" once, which was to unlock or "debrand" my Xperia, so I am new to flashing radios. My only problem is that once the ".nbh" file ALONE is on my storage card, and the "tri-coloured screen" has been loader, an error message of "no image file" is shown on the screen just before the "tri-coloured screen" is shown again with "serial" at the bottom. I'm sure there's a simply solution, but I am not sure what it is, and can do with a little help. Thanks
Found a sync solution and followed that method now, so it's aight, but thanks to anyone who WOULD OF helped.
