Back to releas question - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried and failed to get 2.2 going on my phone and phone now will not boot
Want to go back to 2.1, I'm not rooted, don't think I can root in the condition it is in
Once I have the 2.1 ROM downloaded what are the steps needed to flash it? Are the steps the same as for getting 2.2 flashed or should I try another way?
Getting an image or file to the SD card is not a problem, I have an adapter

How-to go back to stock rom if needed.
If it was me I would root the phone then install Recovery RA-nexus-v1.7.0. Then flash 2.2 rom that can be flashed via Recovery.

You can go back to 2.1 just follow this guide and you dont need root.

Can't follow the guide, phone is stuck in the static N1 logo
None of the commands will work, I need a way to do it with the SD card and recovery

Rooting Help

I downloaded the mistakenly flashed android 1.6 recovery image while trying to flash Cyanogen 4.1.999 . And I lost my root . Now I am unable to root my G1 by 1-click rooting process. When I run recovery Flasher, both the i am not able to backup the recovery image and install the new recovery image. Is there any way to root it.
I did a similar thing. You lost your recovery image, yes? I used downgrade-firmware method... DREAIMG.NBH+g1 root in a google search should get you started...or search the forums here sucks you got to start from scratch tho...there may be a way to downgrade to doughnut and try running the 1-click root app to restore a custom recovery image?
That means i need to downgrade to android 1.5 before being able to run Recovery Flasher.
Find a tutorial on the non 1 click root method and reflash a custom recovery image via the rc29 exploit...the power of google is in ur hands or at ur fingertips.
Look through the q&a's there is a pretty straight forward tutorial that gets you back to a rooted state.
you dont need to reroot your phone. look at the last few posts i made in the cyan 4.1.999 installation support thread in this section. it should get you where you need to go. if you need help, post there or pm me

STUCK!

Okay i am fully aware of how a forum works and how much i am going to get flamed for this. I really need to go to bed and it would be nice to not have to go find a new phone tomorrow.
I installed JFv1.41 perfectly fine, had the root running etc.
I went to install a Theme, i ran the update.zip...now my phone just gets stuck on the TMOBILE G1 screen...not the flashing droid.
I can boot into Home+Power and into Camera+Power
i have HARD SPL on my root, but it is named update_OG is there anyway i can execute that to fix my problem?
Thanks
d
please can anyone help. Do i need to get a SD card reader and put a recover.img on it...i deleted it on accident because i am anuberchaun.
was the theme made for JF 1.41?
If not, that's why you are hanging on the screen.
What recovery do you have? Can you enable UMS from your recovery? If so, you can just copy a new rom and flash it.
If not, you need a memory card reader and put a new rom on it, then flash.
You are going to need to wipe obviously. I hope that goes without saying.
You should also condsider updating to a newer rom. You are still on RC33 with that I believe. Find a donut rom, like Dwang's. I would recommend you get the new Cyanogen, but that involves flashing more than one thing at a time, and I don't know if you will be able to do that without messing it up... No offense.
Okay so in my HARD SPL on boot, it says no IMAGE file. I have manually uploaded a image file to my SD's root folder. Why wont it see it?
Okay, im in deep. Last resort. Trying to reflash to rc29...only problem is it says not signature on 3 files. I definitely lost root. I using the stock rc29 though why wont it work? Maybe i have the wrong rc29 can anyone help?
Why would you flash a rom in fastboot? You were supposed to do it in your recovery. That's where you went wrong. You say you have rc29 now? Just reroot the phone then.
i cannot re root the phone because it will not get past the flash screen.
i didn't re-flash from fastboot, i did it in recovery. Ive tried re flashing a few times now. I am running jf v1.4 i can not go to any original rom, i also cannot find a DL for a OEM rom. I am trying to reflash to rc29 using the link found in at (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480) the DREAMIMG.nbh file. I was assuming that was a stock ROM, but when i try to reflash to that it says 3 files (no signature)....i was under the impression stock ROM's did not require ROOT access to flash.
i have also tried rc27
FIXED
everything i needed was right here.

Not sure what i have done

Was running lastest Cm Rom & RA recovery 1.5.2.
Loaded into bootloader to check what Radio & SPL i was running.
Then phone started to update.
Now i'm back to stock G1 running firmware 1.0.
Do i need to go though the whole thing again like the first time i flash the rom??
please help.
Looks like you had DREAIMG.nbh at the root of your sd card and then hit the button to update it. Yeah, you are now at RC29 and must re-root and re-install cm.
Could be worse though.

[Q] How do I get rid of clockwork mod recovery and go back to bone stock on my N1?

1. How do I get rid of clockwork mod recovery and go back to bone stock on my N1?
2. Also, I have root explorer but I have no Idea what I'm looking at. Has clockwork put any backups on the internal storage? If so how many and how much room is this taking up?
I was wondering the same thing and then I came upon this thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770792&page=2" basically if you have the Rom Manager app installed all you have to do is download a Stock Nexus One Rom Like FRF91 and restore with that. According to the original poster Melwan :-
"For future reference, if you want to restore your phone while having no issues accessing it, just get Rom Manager. Use it to download and install a stock unrooted Froyo rom (just make sure to select wipe data and do not select the rooting options).
Very easy to restore. The passimg method comes in very handy if you cannot even boot into the OS."
I followed the instructions above and went back from Cyanogen RC3 to Stock Nexus FRF91 in just a few minutes.

Click to collapse
Odin is not risky - if you can get into DL Mode - I'd suggest running ODIN and flashing back to stock. I have used that application many many times.
Make sure it is the one linked in the Q&A sticky as that will put you back to OTA JH7 (Eclair).
Then you can attempt to re-flash the custom ROM of your choosing.
Also in the future if you want to keep CWM - after flashing and installing ROM Manager again you can copy the update.zip and move it to your external SDCard or computer... and then copy it back over if needed.
Then go into regular recovery - have it run the update.zip -> reboot back into recovery and run it again and you should get CWM back on your phone.
But.. if you pooched your current install it is highly recommended to flash back to stock first to make sure you have a clean install.
one more thing how to install odin drivers there is 12 folders in it
Sounds like you do not have the correct ODIN 1 Click application.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 to download Odin and install your USB drivers for your phone (if you need them)
It is a stand alone *.exe - you run that application - and then put your phone into download mode - then plug in your USB cable into your phone and hit the go button on the application to restore it back to stock.
