i have been updating and trying different roms over the last couple of days, i decided last night to revert back to o2 xda mini s original rom downloaded from o2, uploaded the wizard-love rom then started the updsate as instructed, followed the instructions and it installed, however when i soft reset during the 3 second customisation period, the device shows no sign of life, and wont turn on............................................i would like to know if i have bricked my phone, or there could be other reasons, before i go to the expense of getting repaired.
the only info on the device i can remember was i had the wizard-love rom installed before the upgrade and it is a G4 device and i am gethering it is(was)CID locked.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance someone/anyone can give
I think the o2 rom you were trying to load contains IPL/SPL. On a G4 this could mean a bricked phone. Still, I think I've heard people using their carriers rom on their G4 without problems? Could someone confirm this? I always take out the IPL and SPL and recook the rom just to make sure.
You don't even get to the IPL/SPL screen? You could try putting it onto the wallcharger for serveral hours and try again. Good luck!
i hear you and thanks for reply, only tried that rom as it is the only o2 rom and actually says it is the factory one for my phone, so must admit , presumed it was compatible....................while i am writing does anyone know of a way of reviving this problem, even if it means a price,
regards
just to update, no ipl/spl screen or life at all , tried the wallgharge but nothing as yet, regards
cid locked
are you getting any response from the phone at all? if not leave the battery out for at least two hours then put battery back in and just charge from the wall without turning on the device for at least an hour. if it still doesnt turn on whatsoever its bricked!
if thats the case then do as i did last year when i accidently bricked mine and claim that you lost your phone to your insurance
good luck
mark
no responce at all, will try your suggestion , however as i bought it off ebay no insurance and no contents ins also, never mind .............easy come easy go
regards
another update, contacted ok xda repair center and as it is " bricked " will cost me in the region of £185, so not sent..............however thanks for the help everyone , much appreciated
good to hear that your enjoying your phone again..
just be very very carefull nextime..

thanks for the reply, not using phone as still bricked , so bit the bullet and have just pusrchased an xda orbit, however will not be updateing roms for a while , at least until i get some use out of the phone

got a tmobile mda, i think i bricked my phone, it doesnt even turn on to boot screen or the 3 color screen after i pushed those 3 buttons..what should i do? thx in advance
Most of time is the battery problem. Try to find another battery and see what happen..
dunno, but i was flaashing my phone before that, it didnt die for no reason, i think i flash it a wrong rom or something, do u think i bricked my phone/?
Its hard to say. What rom did u used?? What PDA do u have?? Did u flashed it with battery on 50% or less?? Try to get in bootloader mode.
3-buttons? To get into the 3-color bootloader screen should only take 2 buttons. Press and hold camera button. Then use stylus and press then release RESET button. Bootloader screen should show up after 3-5 seconds, then release the camera button.

tried that few times, but doesnt boot up, but i dont its the battery, do u guys think its the hardware after i flashed it.
If you are absolutely certain it's not the battery, then it's possible it could be bricked for good.
However, if you had it in bootloader mode very long, a dead battery is very likely. The phone won't charge in bootloader mode. I don't think it'll charge with a bad OS flash either.
Someone once claimed he connected a battery directly to a USB port to charge it. You could always give that a shot.
Probably most importantly is which ROM did you use? Is your phone a G3 or G4? If it's a G3 ROM with IPL/SPL in it, then yes you will permanently brick a G4 phone with that. If it's just an OS by itself without IPL/SPL, it's almost impossible to permanently brick it.
If it's permanently bricked, I think the only shot you have is to reflash it with a JTAG which would involve disassembling the phone.
i flashed my phone many times before and tried many roms and they all worked fine, i have g4 phone by the way, cuz i can read chinese so went and downloaded and rom called english asian rom so hope i could read chineses on my phone, then while i was fllashing it i found that that it wasnt wm6 it was made in 2006, but was too late, after it was done flashing it, the isp nubmer was different from lsp version, for ex:isp says 2.26.xx then lsp says (2.21.xx i with "i" at the end) so i reflashed it back using love rom to wm5 but it doesnt boot up the screen stays at 3 color so i removed the battery see if it can reboot normally then it doesnt turn on ever...
by the way waths jtag can u post a link for me in the forum or its a website, do i have to pay anything?
Hmmm, strange, wizard_love should be okay for the G4. I think if I were you I would try charging the battery (or buy an inexpensive external battery charger) before worrying about JTAG. I don't know if anyone has found JTAG or SPI (similar to JTAG but fewer pins) on the Wizard, but I can tell you that using it is not for the faint hearted!
Here is how JTAG is done on an iPAQ:
http://openwince.sourceforge.net/jtag/iPAQ-3600/
It's a lot of work just to connect the JTAG, and if the JTAG points have never been documented, it's even more difficult (almost impossible) to find them yourself.
lol, it looks so complicated. well any way i think i bricked it, sigh what can i do without it....plz help if u had the same problem that im having, really want my mda back. ty for ur helps GnatGoSplat

If i buy a new battery and it worked, but the rom already changed my SPL number but not IPL version do u think i can still flash it back to normal rom by using love rom wizard
I think you will need a G4 ROM with IPL and SPL in it to get it completely back to normal since it sounds like maybe that Chinese ROM changed one of those. That is assuming when you said "ISP" you meant either IPL or SPL? Usually the OEM ROMs are best for that.
But after the very last flash you performed, you did see the 3-color screen? That would indicate the bootloader was still working. Maybe it's really bricked, but I would think if the only thing you did to completely kill it off was remove the battery, then it must just be a dead or weak battery.

yeah i the 3 color screen was there after last flash, with different either ips or spl version differ from each other, then i didnt no what to do so i took the battery out and plugged it back in then it wouldnt turn on.. but battery was fully charged when i last flahed it..
After the last flash but before the 3-color screen, did it do a full reboot showing splash screen, etc?
Did you try a hard reset (top 2 buttons, then reset)?
after i flashed it, it stays on that 3 color screen(that was love rom) and doesnt boot up or anything so i didnt no how to do a hard reset back then so i just took the battery out insted of reset it, oh actually i tried soft reset and it doesnt turn off so then i took the battery out
-also after i flashed to that chinese rom i figured something was wrong so i falshed back using love rom right after cuz it wasnt going to boot, but love rom didnt seem to work, stays at 3 color screen
heres what i did : ran love rom-->flashed chinese rom-->didnt boot-->ran love rom-->doesnt boot-->tried soft reset-->took the battery out--> doesnt charge or on.
Bought it 5 days ago. When the battery went dead last night, I plugged it in to charge and switched it on .It did not go past the Windows Mobile splash screen. I took the battery out as well as the sim and memory cards, to no avail. I left it plugged in overnight and got the battery fully charged (battery indicator light is now green) and the network status green light would (at least sometimes) start flashing on boot, even though the phone would not completely boot up. I CAN get it into bootloader. What I want to know is, should I go to www.htc.com and download and install an official ROM from there, or should I leave all that alone and take it back to where I got it from before I screw it up? Additionally, the phone shows up as a Dopod D810 when registered on www.htc.com, and the radio and ROM versions appear to be lower/older than what came pre-installed in the phone. Advice anyone? I am fairly new and in the process of learning all this wonderful stuff you guys have to teach.
it seems like its already been fiddled with (correct me if i'm wrong people), i would visit the HTC club site and if you can upgrade using your serial number do that, as if you look in the trinity WIKI in "Trinity" forum (Not Trinity 6 forum, here) it states there is a different way to flash the p3600i as its setup different than the standard p3600.
This is exactly what happened to my phone when the battery died (after installing FInixNOver) Is there a problem with these ROMS, or something that happens when the phone dies!... My phone was also 'sticking/frozen/crashed' on the splash screen.
I just reflashed it with a new ROM after fully charging it again.
Thanks VISTAR. And WIZZKID - your phone works perfectly now after the flashing? And do you think it's because of the stuff you installed? BTW my ROM was an official HTC ROM. I actually got called out early this morning to do a flight to the island where I bought the phone (I am a commercial pilot flying Caribbean routes) and I packed it's backside back in the box and sent it to be exchanged. I don't have the new one yet, but I am beginning to wonder if I shouldn't try something else because of this problem of sticking at the splash screen - however I only have a choice of the Kaiser and the S730 at the moment. The P3600/P3600i is among my favourite WM phones of all times, but I don't wanna have to go thru this again. What do you guys think? By the way - I only just realized that I started this post in the wrong section, so please forgive me anyone whom is not pleased by that.
iF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE OF A KAISER I WOULD GO WITH THAT, ITS THE BEST OUT THERE AT THE MOMENT..
Yeah I know but I just don't like it the way I like the P3600i and some of the others. Besides I prefer no sliding hardware keyboard. Moving parts is an issue for me as I am very fussy about wear and tear/looseness. Thanks again for your help. I am gonna move over to WIZZKID's thread on this P3600/P3600i non-starting issue since I am in the wrong section of the forum. Thanks to all those who assisted...
Got a second P3600i and it did the same thing - a hard reset fixed the problem.
Hi Everyone,
I seem to be having some trouble with my 3 week old Kaiser. I had finally received my 4GB SD card today and i put it into the phone and copy all the files I needed. Then the kaiser started to freeze on TCPMP, so I did a soft-reset. And now it doesn't want to boot up anymore.
(I wasn't flashing to a ROM or anything, just copying and pasting files from PC)
When i boot, it reaches the 'Smart Mobility' black screen and then just shuts off. I left it charging for 20 minutes and still the same problem, only thing is that the longer I keep it charged, the longer it stays on the 'Smart Mobility' screen (tho max it stayed on was 15 seconds)
I don't think its a battery problem since I know for sure the battery is over 100% charged and light turns green when the charger is inserted.
I searched around on this site and online elsewhere and managed to do a hard reset and enter that bootloader screen but nothing new has happened and I'm not sure what to do in a bootloader screen. Weird thing is that once I enter the hard reset screen or bootloader, the unit doesn't shut off.
help?
try flashing a rom
As stated above, flash a ROM. If the hard reset didn´t fix the problem you might have some corruption in the file area containing the ROM. Flashing will probably fix this if it´s only a software fault. You can download a official rom from HTC e-club or if you got a branded phone from your service provider.
Hey everyone,
So I tried to flash Duttys_WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid V2_1_65.14.06[CubeV2] through the Kaiser_RUU.exe file that came with the download.
First i started MITTY and used the codes:
5. typed "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. typed "task 28 55aa" to get the device formatted
7. typed "task 0" to ask the device reboot.
Then I loaded bootloader and opened the Kaiser_RUU.exe, I think it uploaded the new rom cuz the meter went all the to 100% and the program said I successfully loaded the new rom.
So the device restarts but nothing happens... Same problem again: I reach the 'Smart Mobility' black page and then the device turns off before reaching the 'HTC' symbol loading and 'Windows Mobile' pages.
Help?

Did you try to take out your new memory card?
It might be faulty!

He's got a point! Memory cards are accessed at boot for any Flashing files...

Hence, you should always remove your card when flashing a new rom.
Oh memory card was removed the very second the device stopped working!
Also SIM card was taken out as well at that time.
Anyone experienced this before?
Hey everyone,
So this morning I got a call back from HTC and they have determined that it is water damage and want to replace the motherboard AND lcd for a fee of $353.26
But last time i saw, the LCD was working perfectly... i don't see why it needs to be replaced...
So I told them I'll call them back... and after much thought, these are my options:
1) Disregard the repairs and just get the unit back for $28.
then i) buy a used motherboard
or
ii) buy used motherboard AND lcd (if needed)
iii) buy either whole new unit or new different ppc phone
(recommend anything?)
2) Have HTC repair it:
either i) repair only the motherboard
OR ii) repair motherboard and replace the working screen
What do you guys suggest?
So was it rain or toilet?
water damage? thats wierd how did a 4GB memory card give you water damage? sounds to me like they,
1 are trying to screw you over
2 have your phone mixed up with someone else
3 the shipping people were vary violent with your phone
lol yea.. about that...
3 days before that whole mess happened... I was going down the rocks at the beach and slipped into the water (stepped on algea) and the phone was in my back pocket. I know the phone got A LITTLE wet and it started giving me "SIM door is unlocked, please lock it. Device will automatically turn off in 10 seconds" messages when I tried starting it. But a couple hours after the incident the device worked perfectly again. 2 days and a half later, I get my new memory card and BAM this happens.
You moister meter strip was pink. So they saw that and automatically assumed water damage.
dang, that sucks if it was me id have them ship it back and I would order parts and fix the phone my self or send it off to anoter place that fixes phones. One time my Zune tore up and I sent it off and with shipping and everything was about $30. It might be something simple and a cheap fix.
I have exactly the same problem with my s730 wings. And i'm sure it is not a water damage.

I would start by looking for a refurb that was less than $350.

Exactly. I picked up a broken one for parts pretty cheap ( around $100 ) and if youre sure you dont need the LCD, look on ebay for ones with broken LCD's. Those are going to be the ones with decent boards typically as the reason they are on ebay are because someone doesnt want to fuss with taking the thing apart.
Just my advice here.
Also heres a CHEAP one at buy it now for $275

My GFs HTC One, for the second time now (two different phones), has gone dead out of nowhere.
The first time she plugged it in and went to bed. All was well with it when it was plugged in. Woke up and nothing worked. No charging lights, nothing. Sent it in for warranty repair and T-Mobile/HTC said that the LCD screen was broke and that it was due to user damage (basically trying to say the phone was dropped, which it wasn't). They sent out a new phone, we sent back the broken one. A week later they charged our bill for the repairs and I had to call in 3 times in order to get them to finally waive those charges.
Now, a few months later, this new phone does the same thing. In the middle of using it, while it had plenty of battery, the screen went black. Same exact thing, would not power back on. Now we are in the process of waiting for the next phone to be shipped so we can ship this one back. And I'm fairly certain that they're going to try and use the same excuse again.
The only response that we get from the phone is when it is plugged into a computer and it asks to install the QHSUSB_DLOAD driver (which does nothing upon trying to install). After searching these forums, and Google, I noticed that everyone with this exact problem was trying to install a custom ROM. That is not the case with us. The OS on the phone's were never altered. The phone's were never unlocked. Nothing like that at all.
I don't really have a question that I'm asking here. From what I've read, it looks like the phone is basically bricked and there's nothing that can fix it. I just wanted to make this post so others know that this can happen to non-rooted phones too.
I'll follow up here once T-Moble/HTC give me the outcome of this second phone.
Exact same problem here.

QHSUSB_DLOAD = hard brick, needs motherboard to be replaced
Had same thing with HTC Sensation. Need to replase the main memory chip where OS stored.
Time for a new girlfriend, not a new phone.
