Tubedroid - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have the last apk for it?
I originally bought it when it wasn't on the market, but lost it any help would be much appreciated.

I'd contact the developer for that app. Asking for paid apps here is a no no.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Google has long since banned any apps that download videos from Youtube. Apparently it was a violation of the user agreement. Hence the disappearance of a bunch of YouTube downloaders and built-in features from apps like Dolphin HD. You can however get rolle3k's YouTube Ripper here.

Sorry about that, need to read over the forum rules again. I'll be sure to check out YouTube ripper thanks guys.

[Q] Why don't all apps show up in marketplace?

So I wrote and published an app - I can see it on AppBrain and people have been downloading it, but I don't see it...
What gives?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/mammoth-mountain-lift-status/com.snyamathi.MammothMountain
Being censored by at&t? Turn on airplane mode then turn on wifi and access the market through that connection and search for it.
Hmmm I still don't see it. I asked my friend (droid on Verizon) if he could see it and he said that he can. Odd
I can see it on my cappy on att with docs rom kitchen rom. Came right up when I searched mammoth mountain

Searched mammoth mountain and it came up for me as well on serendipity. Only other thing would be the fingerprint in the build prop that most use which changes it to verizon. I will flash stock and check it later today out of curiosity.

Google developer's forums would be able to help you. Also here on xda, the android apps forums would be a place to ask. Not at all coming down on you. I can think of quite a few reasons why I'd ask that question here to a small helpful community. Just trying to give a couple places to ask if you don't find an answer here. Good luck, and I'll have to check out your app.
From a phone
I'll have to check that out - I've been having a lot of trouble with things not showing up in my market, not just this app.
When I search "Mammoth Mountain" all I get is 3 results for "Gps Skis Maps USC/CAN". Still can't see it, really frustrating...
Shows up on my captivate and I'm just running rooted JH7
I figured out the problem:
By disabling content protection (makes it harder for people to copy your app off of the phone) the application now shows up in my marketplace. Something about that made it invisible to me.

[Q] Are there any mods/hacks/anything yet? Also a few other questions.

I have quite a few questions. First, I know the device has been successfully rooted, but I'm not entirely sure what the means for us users. Have any impressive mods or hacks been released for the ChomeCast yet? Also, is it possible to stream from PC to my ChomeCast? And lastly, how does this affect battery life when streaming from an Android device?
You can stream Netflix, YouTube and chrome tabs to your device from your pc.
From an Android phone you can stream YouTube, Netflix and Hulu atm
It doesn't affect battery life at all, other than using the app since the chromecast is not actually receiving any data from the phone but from a server (Netflix, YouTube, Hulu) . Your phone only sends a link to the chromecast.

Have you looked at any reviews? Done any reading/research? Those are very basic questions, that could easily be found with minimal effort. This helps keep the forum from getting cluttered and the same questions from being asked again and again. The member here are less likely to help if you not putting much effort into finding answers. Just some friendly advice.
I will provide some assistance.
1. If you have a Chromecast with the original Firmware, not likely unless you got one of the early devices and it hasn't updated the firmware, then Yes it can be rooted. Device with newer firmware out of luck, at least for now.
There not much you can really do, even if you had a rooted Chromecast at this point.
2. You can cast YouTube and Netflix form the Chrome browser on your computer. You can also cast a tab form the Chrome browser and any content it may be running. There is also an experimental feature found in the Chrome Browser that will allow you to cast you desktop.
You can also drag and drop compatible media (Music, video) into an empty Chrome browser tab and have it cast to you TV.
3. I doesn't affect battery life on you android device. Your Android device just tells the Chromecast fetch the media from Netflix, YouTube or Hulu Plus and play it on you TV. After the media starts playing you could turn off you device and the Chromecast would continue to play the media.

After having read many reviews and articles on the internet about the capabilities, features and benefits of owning/purchasing a chromecast, I came to the realization that it offered very few, if any, of those things after the "update". Still, I had the same question as the OP and hoped that XDA might further my education on the matter. I assumed based on the date of their post, that the OP was as up to date as I was. So, I eagerly clicked on the thread hoping to find a friendly conversation about any possible progress, hacks, developer apps or current work arounds, but instead was met by what seems to have become the standard retort for anyone that has a simple question on xda. The only question you left out was, "did you even try searching?"
Honestly, I am not trying to be ugly or smart, but it seems like xda is an appropriate place to ask questions when someone has one. While I know that it seems like many are lazy and don't bother searching, reading or educating themselves before starting a thread and wasting precious forum space, sometimes it would be great to find real answers and and friendly responses without assuming the OPs back story. There, I got that off my chest and provided nothing useful to the conversation myself and suppose I am prepared for the backlash, but I'd rather continue my search for answers to my original question. Is there anyone out there making the Chromecast dongle worth buying and in return, accepting donation money from me for their work? OK. Off my soapbox, no offense and sorry for wasting thread space that is better left to developers than greedy users like me.

The very first post in this section is a sticky which contains a section labeled, "Apps, Mods, Fixes, Rooting, Tutorials". It has links to a bunch pertinent threads. There is a reason it's a sticky. XDA would become useless if there where multiple post a day asking about the same subject.
I was being friendly. I informed him that he could easily find the answers he is looking for with a little effort and doing so would keep the forum clean and people would be more helpful. It was obvious they where new (only three post) and I tried to offer some friendly advice that will help them in the long run. I even tweaked my wording as to not be too harsh. then I went the extra mile and answered his questions.
Right on. Any word on the SDK being freed up yet?

[Q] Can you cast from a mobile broswer?

I've read that you can cast from Chrome on a PC but I can't seem to work out how to do it from the mobile version. Is it possible or is there another mobile browser that supports chromecast? Thanks.

Did you really need to start a new topic on this? The answer to your question is in this forum 42 million times. Search a little.

In the scheme of things does it really matter?
And actually I did do a Google search and all it kept throwing up was that you could do it from the chrome desktop browser, hense why I came on here for clarification. God what are you the Xda Police?

yes, it does matter. There have been a rash of question lately cluttering the forum lately with questions that could easily be answered with a little effort/searching.

That's because that all it can do. Read a review watch a YouTube video or read these forums and that would be obvious.

People will be much less likely to help when you ask questions that have been covered many times or are easy to find. The people that actually contribute and research get tired of answering basic question.
It just forum etiquette. The attitude won't win you many helpful friends. Not saying that in a mean spirited way, it's friendly advice.
My attitude? You need to look at your own post before pointing finers . I have followed all of the forum etiquette and I still get someone jumping down my throat because I've dared to ask a question they already know the answer too. This is meant to be a friendly environment for people to share knowledge yet people like you are turning others away, with your elitist attitude.
Also for your information I have read numerous reviews, watched YouTube videos and scanned through the forum and didn't find an answer which is why (as said previously) I asked a question on here. If you have a problem with that maybe get a moderator involved.
Peace guys! It's sometimes very difficult to answer a question in the negative, when you're searching for something that may or may not exist and you're not finding it. There's no harm in answering in questions that may have been asked and answered before, especially when the answer is only obvious in hindsight. I certainly wondered initially if I could cast from Chrome on my portable devices, before I understood that tab casting requires Chrome to re-encode and re-transmit the video stream in real time, which requires a lot of CPU power. That's not very well explained by most of the Chromecast information sources that one would initially encounter.

please help with ads

Not strictly nexus 5
95% of the time I load the nexus 5 general forum I get a load of browser redirects which end with me having to close the tab.
I don't t do anything other than load the page.
The redirect goes via a slimspots bla bla address then on to various other crap.
There is currently a thread running on chrome product support forum regarding this problem on various sites and phones and is possibly a rougue ad.
Can any admins/mods XDA guru's advise on this please?
I'm currently nexus5 stock with very few apps installed and even happenes after factory reset.
Thanks and sorry for off topic but since it affects this forum thought I would post it here.

Intrusive ads? Post here!
It looks like other people are having similar issue. I'll make sure the Administration sees this. I think our only recourse is to identify the exact ad and complain to the ad providers.

New milk music hack?

Hello, rather a new ish member to XDA. Well im not new,I've always used xda, just never had an account, made an account, haven't used it since til now,so excuse me if this is in the wrong category.
I,being a fan of Milk music, miss having a samsung just because I can't get it any way else. I noticed that there was a hack before, and a while back i tried that, it didn't work. I couldn't get samsung account to work and it would skip all songs until it would spam the notification that I've hit skip limit.
So the main question is: Is there a new milk music hack to work on 5.1 devices(my nexus 6 for example) or at least the new version of Milk, or am I forever doomed without the wonderful app?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
to answer your question, I am clueless, since I stay away from Samsung devices. BUT.. I can help you in XDA. you posted your question in the general category. instead, all questions, or if help is needed, these questions get posted into the q&a/help section. so, since you are looking for an answer, I'll ask a mod to move your thread into the correct section.

Hi, a quick search for your question, yielded no results from this forum. However, have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps
See if you can find anything similar. Good luck!
Thank you both! seems to be that there's nothing yet. Oh well.
