Recovery Image - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Is there one for the Droid? I have not kept up with the going ons with the Droid as I just got Verizon today.

there is 2.
Sprecovery and clockwork.
If you download rom manager, it'll flash the recovery for you with one button.

Sweet...I guess Amon_Ra has not come out with a recovery for the droid..

There isnt one. And its a very safe bet that there wont be either. Stuff built for a 1.GHz processor (Desire), wont run correctly (if at all) on the G1 (528 MHz).

he tried in the beginning, but couldnt get it working graphically. sprecovery came out pretty quickly and so we didnt need it. then clockworkmod came and well, no need.
Plus Amon_Ra is mostly out of the recovery scene now.

Need help for MT3G

Hey all, I need some serious help for my Mytouch3G. My MT3G just stays at boot screen all the time now every time I flash a custom rom. The last rom that worked for me was Super D 1.6 blk and other roms before that. I don't know what's wrong now, I tried using my Nandroid restore, wiped everything, other roms. I even tried re-rooting, so I had to go back to stock (which worked so I know it's not bricked).
I know this is the G1 Q&A but I since MT3G is compatible with most roms I posted here.
Also, I can boot into recovery and fastboot. Please help? All I want now is to go back to Super D 1.6 .
Try re-rooting the phone.
you probably dont have the latest radio ,and (or) spl, also make sure you wipe before flashing.
Do you have apps on sd card? If you do - you may need to reformat your EXT, regular wipe doesnt to it. And yes, you do need correct SPL and radio.
Good luck.
I would also try posting in the correct forum next time. This is the Dream forum, I don't care how close they are in specs and such, this is the dream forum. There is a magic forum for you to try out next time

You should wipe via Amon_Ra when going rom to rom and wipe before using your backups.
There is no reason for foul language either

Clockwork recovery

Supposedly Clockwork recovery works on the milestone according to the developer
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html
I was wondering if it is true or did he just assume that it does because the milestone is essentially a droid

Interesting. Regardless, it's only a matter of time before the exploit for the Droid X gets ported over to our Milestones!
I just tried the Clockwork Recovery, but the Milestone doesn't accept it because the signature was not correct.

Probably, I haven't tried resigning with the usual testkeys.
Could you give it a go?

I can confirm it starts up now, you have to move it to /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates, then in your OpenRecovery menu, launch it from Miscellaneous-->Apply update
It's the same as OpenRecovery almost, I don't know what else to do..
Well that's interesting that it actually works! Got further than me
But could we not flash this as the default recovery rather than having to apply the update.zip and then updating via the recovery?
Sorry to resurrect, but can you confirm that Clockwork works on Milestone, and subsequently ROM Manager as well (since it only works with Clockwork).
Also, what are the differences btwn G.O.T. (which I'm using now) and Clockwork, and which do you prefer?
Thx

essentially its only the same concept , afaik clockwork uses sprecovery we use 'adb recovery' so what we call nandroid backup is not compatible form one another .
essentially they are no benefits of using either ..except for the fact that Openrecovery was built for the milestone . ie there is no reason at allto try and use anthing else .
Got ' OR is not the only one around , they are a few , its only a question of taste witch one you prefer , although the recovery loader built in GOT's allows you to load any recovery you want from within GOT's witch makes it my favorite choice ..

Hero nightmare! Someone please help!

I really want to trade for an iPhone in case anyone is interested...
Anyway, on to my issues (after trying to reset my password, unsuccessfully, for 2 hours {you guys really gotta fix "forgot your password"}):
Im trying to install ROM Fresh Hero 2.4
If I get to the screen that says <HOME> Recovery, Ill press home and it just goes to a screen with a pic of the phone and a red exclamation point...
Ive also tried holding down the volume and power buttons and I get to the same screen.
Heres what Ive done:
z4root (it installed SuperUser)
Cleared/reset phone
And now Im stuck at getting into recovery to install the ROM file

Meh....just go get your damn iphone. Be easier for you.
Scent phrum mie fone!
search the forums someone else had the same problem and it was resolved here. i just don't remember what the solution was.
It looks like you haven't installed a custom recovery, necessary before you can flash a custom rom. Download ROM Manager from the Market and flash a recovery. You should then be able to boot into recovery to flash Fresh.
Also, you will need a custom recovery to create a nandroid of your current ROM, in case you have issues flashing a different one. Make sure you do that!!

Thanks a lot! It was ClockWork I needed. Looks like its common knowlege before hitting up custom roms, Im guessing thats why none of the directions mentioned it.
You come here, to the CDMA HTC HERO forum and say u want to trade your phone for an Iphone, and i say to do it.....and that makes me a fanboi how?

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Froyo-on-Hero action here!
This should do it
Get a custom recovery, and install. From recovery do nandroid backup. After Backup do a FULL wipe of the phone. And finally install custom rom.

Won't reinstall packages 2.2

Hey ya'll got a question. I'm trying to put CM7 on my buddies vibrant (2.2 stock) but running into an issue. We got it rooted but when it goes into 3e recovery it keeps giving me the error that it can't reinstall packages even when I put in on the internal memory renamed to Update.zip.
Is there any way to flash CWM through Odin? Or do I need to go back to stock (2.1) and try it that way. From searching it seems like people aren't really having this problem. I can't be the only one.
Any help appreciated
thanks!
have you tried more than just one cwm?
i have several - yellow, green(froyo), blue, purple.
just search for them on the forums they are here.
i think you need green one.
hope this helps.

you need to flash it through clockword recovery (install rom manager and then you can install it through there) and not through stock recovery.

Sorry, I should have elaborated a little more. I installed RM and flashed it through there but it would never come up. It just kept giving me the error.
Thanks!
Just did some searching and not finding "green" clockworkmod files.

I used this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 to root it.
Option A was the one I used. Option B has the CWR in it but you'll need to have a ROM ready to flash.
IIRC the one (RM) I downloaded from the market was green.

Not really seeing option A or B. IS this option A:
1 – Return to stock JFD (2.1). This is what the Vibrant shipped with. You do this using ODIN.
This is a program for your PC that allows you to flash the stock firmware. Those on a Mac (it's cross-platform too) need Heimdall which I do not use/support.
Wait I see it now. Which one do you recommend I do?
Couldn't resist quoting myself on this one. Sorry and not to be a smartass but...

That is to root it but Option B has CWR in it and then most ROMS will have 3e recovery included. Leaving for the day but I suggest looking in the Q&A section before you get flamed for this over here in the Dev section.
^ yes, thank you.
Not everyone gets my two options... I tried to make it easy. B is MUCH easier and faster in my opinion.
Sorry about that guys I swore I posted this is the Q&A. Thanks for the help as soon as my buddy brings the phone back over we'll try this.
thanks!
Worked like a charm! Thanks guys!

Every ROM I flash gets stuck on the flash screen. Thoughts?

I just bought a used Hero as a temporary phone and I'm trying to get off the stock rom. I rooted the phone and flashed a MIUI rom. It got stuck on the splash screen during boot. Not feeling like dealing with it, I just ended up RUUing it. Then I rerooted it and tried another rom...same deal. Now I back to stock again. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks
You didn't firate anything, did you?
Try manualy flashing the boot.img in the rom from fastboot. Sometimes thats the problem.

EDIT: I'm guessing you meant firerat. Nope, I haven't messed with anything.

Good idea. I'd need abd for that though to run the commands right? I'm really trying hard to avoid installing it on my computer.
Why ?? If your going to be modding your phone s-off,eng-bootloader & adb are all tools you will definitely need. If not then you may have a few headaches down the line if something goes wrong.

I won't be doing anything beyond flashing a custom rom.
I just dug up my Hero. It had CM6 previously. I tried flashing an updated ROM and it does not get past the HTC logo. I tried 4 different ROMs. Using CMW recovery. Wipe/Format all...and nothing.
Yeah I'm completely out of ideas. I may just have to suck it up and install adb.
Which version of CWM are you running? I've used 2.5.0.1 for all of my ROMs and never had a problem. I should have the zip to flash through recovery and the HERCIMG flashable through HBOOT if you wanna try.

Adb is a breeze to install. Takes less than 20 min. Pm me if and when you wanna set it up, and believe me when I say you will not regret it. Adb makes modding your phone a little easier.

What radio do you have? I remember people having issues when using the older radio (.27) instead of the newer (.29). Then again, it might not make a difference at all either. Just a thought.
i second drunkpilots radio idea, thats what gave me a headache for an hour the other night wondering why my cm7 wouldnt boot, updated to newest sprint radio and bam booted right up
Alright I just upgraded my radio. What's the best/easiest way to root it from here since I'm back to stock now?
