I just flashed my T-Mobile MDA Compact IV with the original Dutch HTC ROM. Everything is working perfectly except for one thing: I no longer have horizontal scrolling in TouchFlo. I mean, if I want to go from the clock to contacts, and I swipe my finger horizontally, it moves to contacts instantly instead of scrolling.
I already tried to disable/enable scrolling using Advanced Config, but that didn't help. Am I missing a settings somewhere?
This feature was removed with the change to 1.93.x.x Roms to speed things up in the interface. Trading off Eye Candy vs Speed. You cannot get it back short of switching to and older Rom like 1.37.x.x which was the vintage my unit shipped with.
(First of all, thank you for your answer.)
Too bad. Where can I find what the differences are between 1.93.x.x and 1.37.x.x?
if you cant live without those animations i suggest Swtos new 0.98 ROM with Touch FLO 3D 1.0. its fast as hell too!

It's not that I can't live without it, it's just that I really liked it... Weird though that they didn't make switching it back on an option.
Look into this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421434
You can install tlr-manila.cab to enable it.
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I had tried that already but not only will that give me back the scrolling effects, but the slowness as well.
I have horizontal scrolling with SwiftBL v6 1.93 ROM.
EDIT: Oh, you mean the animated horizontal scrolling, yeh thats gone but it feels faster without it.
this is really funny...
i've upgraded to rom ver 1.93 since day one of launch and still have the horizontal scrolling between tabs in manila....
been reading so many threads about the disabled scrolling, really wonder why...
even my wife's TD retained the scrolling effect after upgrade
and i've not tweaked both TDs after the rom upgrading
I hope HTC'll make an option available to enable/disable graphic effects in a next room (it'd be the same thing Sony Ericsson did with P900 to speed up the symbian OS).
Yes, It' true, now it's much faster, but I loved those stupid effects ...
---
Wait. I still can move through the screens sliding the tab with my thumb, but I neither have sliding effect nor fade effect for blocks background. This is what I call "graphic effects".
Zippy1970, your problem is you can't move through the screens sliding the tab with your thumb, isn't it?
well
Since i have my Diamond i Flashed Swift's 6.0 ROM and the TouchFLO Side scrolling is still there and the ROM is FAAAST
I have, in the past, installed various utilities to make my screen rotate automatically, but none of them worked as great as I wanted them to work (nothing managed to enable BubbleBreaker to run in Landscape mode, the Manila never rotated properly, etc.) so I ended up deleting them and putting newer ones and they didnt do what I wanted either.
recently my sms and browsers stopped rotating too and sometimes when i manage to make them rotate, they wont go back to the original (portrait mode) and everything just messes up.
I know that I can hard reset my phone and revert back to the original settings, but then I've got loads of apps installed and stuff customized the way I like.
I was wondering if they is any thing I can do to revert all the settings (for the screen rotation) back to the original values without losing any information, apps, other stuff I have on my phone.
Thanks
P.S. please provide a list (if possible links) of the apps I will need to use too.
P.P.S if possible I would like to know how to set other things too, like how to change the position of the start menu to make them come on the bottom bar instead of on top, how to use manila in landscape mode, how to keep the music player on while I turn on the camera (I could do this on my BlueAngel)
Here's what I would do;
Install TD2 Tools which has a rotation manager.
Then install Topaz Keyboard Controller and map one of your hardware keys to rotate your screen.
To get bottom bar start menu would require flashing a custom ROM as WM 6.5.x is not available stock on Topaz but has been ported from other devices.
Music palyer while camera is on seems would be a memory resource issue.
thanks
but im still curious about the cam and the media player
since you could do it with older slower devices running WM2003 but now the new ones which are supposed to be faster (more mem) won't allow you

As devices have improved, so have the cameras, but they have always been resource hogs.
This ROM is DISCONTINUED
I am sorry to say I don't find the time to further develop this ROM, if anyone wants to continue this ROM please do so. Just pm me and it's fine. Thanks for using this ROM and for your feedback. Maybe in the future I will begin a new ROM project. For now I am only developping a ROM Download Manager for the desktop, keep an eye on the portal .

i`ll give a chance this evening ... looks nice
I have been using this ROM for the last hour or so. I did a backup, clean wipe and fresh flash. I have let the new ROM settle and have done a manual reeboot also.
I am a humble end-user and not a dev but thought that I would give a breakdown of some of my first impressions and observations.
I like the boot annimation alot, I also like the lock screen. Both look clean.
I like the orange font used in the status bar and the pull down menu although the "Wild Ginger" wording in the drop down menu is very blury and looks ugly.
The window transistions are smooth as you like but don't feel snappy quick.
I think the new honeycomb launcher is a nice touch but doesn't seem as intuative as the regular launchers such as ADW; maybe it's because I'm not used to honeycomb yet.
My main gripe about the Honeycomb launcher is that it force closes ALL the time. I have been trying to remove the Google search bar widget that is pre-loaded on screen after first boot and it is impossible (and the widgets aren't even locked to desktop). Also I can't ADD any additional widgets - you can select a widget to add but nothing happens!
From the main screen, waiting for the menu to appear takes about 5seconds which is an age. The "Personalise Honeycomb" menu doesn't fit the whole screen and you can see thick band of the desktop down the right of the screen which is ugly.Once in the preferences menu it isn't at all clear what you are meant to do... You can see the "Apply Settings" button but it took me tapping about the rest of the screen to finally make the actual preferance choices appear.
I have tested inbound and outbound calls and wifi both work as standard. The music player has nice interface, camera works and stock browser is fine. I don't like the dark blue highlight that appears when you press on an app icon it looks clumsy.
The numbers 1,2 and 3 are almost cut in half in the dialer and the green phone "call" icon doesn't seem to fit in it's area neatly.
I like H4oxer's work on this ROM and I hope it continues to get better but with these quite apparent bugs I will respectfully wait for an update before I continue to use this ROM.
Good Work tho!
so ...
good review above .... absolutelly uselless to say more ... 100% same opinions as you EDD ! keep going h4oxer !!!

tried to flash but no luck stuck at splash screen, did wipe, factory reset,dalvik...how long was first boot for you guys?
You'll have to wait 5-10 minutes... leave it for 10 minutes on first boot..
why I cant see any progres in progres bar in recovery, says instaling update ...
(now no progres of writing files) and afther just 10-15 sec instal complete,is this normal? usualy can see progres and takes a bit longer
Yes it's normal, I didn't payed attention at the progressbar while writing the updater file , but it works don't worry. It installs fast because it had not much apps on board. Just the essential.
10min past stil on my splash screen.no boot animatio yet

Wierd. This ROM is working fine for me. Did you wipe /data and /cache?
yes did everything...dont know simple not booting, stucked on splash screen not even bootanimation
OK....first impressions are good. Startup in less than 4 minutes. Looking good. Everything is working out of the box, no force closing or similar problems. Nice themes, Market app is interesting
LCD density set to 115 and dialpad and everything else looks good
need to be done
- icons in status bar - phone signal at least
- trackpad wakeup
- sound on lock/unlock
- 6x5 icons is too much... 4x5 would be better in my opinion
- Home screen - same as above
- when LCD density changed no way to add widgets or apps to home screen
all in all very good rom, but need a little bit of fixing

Looking for some help from my fellow XDA folks.
I've been running my SGT7 in the dash of my car for just over a year, loving the hell out of it. Upgraded to CM9 and it runs so much better, so smooth, but I've got a few issues.
For anyone interested in what it looked like in my dash on Gingerbread, here's a video I took the day I installed it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC5c6OZLnzg
I'm having a hard time reading a lot of the text because of the small size on CM9, and the icons are so much smaller than on Gingerbread, making it hard to select icons while driving.
I installed DPI changer and tried several different DPI settings. The ones that turned it into "phone mode" really looked about perfect, but gave me no more ICS navigation buttons. I need those, as the metal frame that holds the device in my dashboard covers the hardware buttons. I REALLY do not want to go back to using Button Savior either.
Suggestions?
Any one?
I'm basically looking at running the phone UI but keeping navigation buttons I guess.
Perhaps a different launcher, with the dpi changed?

Hey everyone,
due to the high resolution and comparably large screen estate I would like to use a lower screen density of around 410dpi, instead of the stock 480. :fingers-crossed:
One example:
On my Galaxy Nexus I was used to having a 24dpi high navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
It was small but still I was able to hit the buttons accurately.
Same goes for the small keys of my keyboard of choice, Swiftkey.
Since I am on the HTC One and I flashed a Custom ROM, which I am running on 410dpi and wanted that stock android navigation bar at the bottom even at 48dpi (which is like 1.7x the height of the one I was using on my Galaxy Nexus) I have trouble hitting the buttons.
This is very disappointing.
It feels like the Touch layer of the HTC One is not that accurate
Is it just me or is this a known problem?
(Couldn't find anything via search, though)
Any ideas what to do about it?
All the best and thanks in advance :good:
I don't see this at 360dpi which is what I have mine at, but I do see it at 240, but everything then is silly in size.
Have you enabled the show touches in dev options and checked where its actually pressing?
Always keep forgetting about that! Thanks!
That is pretty weird...the touch inputs seem to be quite accurate, though. (Debugging Tool)
But it doesn't recognize them in something like "the upper half of the navigation bar" :/
I quickly shot a Video (sorry not the best focus point )
One can clearly see that I am hitting the home button several times, but the input doesn't get recognized.
That is really really weird and unsatisfactory :/
I gave it a shot for you... It seems to work fine on 36dp and above. 30 and 24 exhibit the same behavior as your video.
FYI: I'm running SlimROM at 361dpi. That was the default for me when I went from ARHD 10.2 to Slim b6 and it has stuck with me since then. I tried to get the same look in RootBox but it didn't work the same, so I went back to SlimROM b6.8, and am now on SlimROM b7.
Thanks :good:
I am starting to believe that this is might be caused by the Logo-Button-Hack.
If you peek closely from the side under the tip of your finger touching the button and starting from the very bottom of the glass area there is just no response at all on the logo. It's like the first pixel of the screen are allocated to the logo-button and not the area below the screen.
Maybe an area of lets say 10-15 pixels height is used for that and therefore not any longer available for the nav bar.
Which doesn't really matter if you are hitting the comparably huge app-icons in the drawer otherwise
