Rom upgrade for dummies

Please Help in upgrading a new ROM step by step

Help needed badly
my ROM v is 1.14.404.3 (22273) WWE and i want to upgrade to miri 6.5_21198_v5.2 but have no idea how to start i have zero knowledge about this, thats why i started this threat so that people like me can get some help.
could someone please help me with what i need and how to do the rom upgrade help....

You must flash HardSPL first to be able to flash this ROM!

also i flash my fone before using HardSPL and it showed 100% but nothing happened? is there any video or images that can help me please

can someone upload a video of using uspl it seem many people are struggling with it.

i flash my phone to wm6.5 and i then flashed it back to 6.1 but my screen resolution is all wrong i mean the colour scheme pls need help urgently

have you do all the steps needed to have correct HSPL?wich rom are you using now and before?wich hspl have you now?

for the original roms you MUST have stock spl i think.do you have it or your stil with hspl?i think hspl.

i used the onilex version 1.56 to flash before i install miri version 12
i downloaded the one from the wiki page

What is your current SPL version if you check in your bootloader? HSPL 1.56.olinex?
You cannot use the new HSPL (1.56.olinex) with any rom lower than version 1.56. Therefore, flashing the 1.14 Orange rom that you did is giving you incompatibilities.
What rom do you desire to run in the end? You should read the guide in my signature. It explains and covers how to deal with this step-by-step.

Is there only RUU_BlackStone_Orange_UK_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.2 5.26_1.09.25.14_Ship available? Or does Orange offer a 1.56.xxx.x version rom?
If you can only find the RUU_BlackStone_Orange_UK_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.2 5.26_1.09.25.14_Ship rom then you will need to downgrade your SPL to 1.14.0000 in order to run that rom.

You can flash all roms if you really want. Read the stickys and you'll be fine.

Read the guide in my signature and you can't go wrong.

iam from india and my htc hd is of orange brand but still it supports airtel after flashing will its supports all carriers i am using vitsa x32

If your phone is simlocked then there are several options to unlock including a service provided on this forum. Search it.

Otherwise you can flash any blackstone rom of your choice on this device.
Refer to cRaCKwHoRe's excellent guide.

Read all the info carefully before you finally contemplate flashing.

If your phone colours have changed, you have the wrong SPL version on your phone to the rom you have on. Ie, 1.57 Rom on a 1.14 SPL or visa versa.
If you now have SPL version 1.56, then you can install any rom that uses the same SPL such as Miri's 6.5, Dutty's XT3.4, Onkolog's 6.5/6.1, KWBR's Topix.

Have you read anything we have been posting?
If your SPL is less than 1.54.0000 then you cannot run a rom that is 1.56 or higher. This works in reverse as well. If your SPL is 1.54.0000 or higher you cannot run a rom that is 1.56 or lower.
Since you are running SPL 1.14.olinex and what looks like a 1.56 or higher rom you need to flash the new HSPL 1.56.olinex.

yes brother i got my mistake i used HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone
insted of HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex
now i directly used HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex and flashed(upgraded) it with RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship
ithink now every must work fine

Yes if you have HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex already flashed to your device and your bootloader shows SPL 1.56.olinex.

change firmware on my HTC HD

My HTC HD have
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.56.407.2_Radio_52.60.25.33_1.12.25.16DE (german rom) installed and i would like to change to English ROM.
Can i just use a new English Firmware ROM and install it on my HTC HD. If yes where can i fnd the new English ROM ?

It depends what you want.
If you want to flash a custom ROM like Duttys v3.4 or a windows mobile 6.5 ROM, you need to start at the link posted by zuadao.
In this case I recommend that you read a lot about HSPL, USPL etc. and try to learn how it works.
If all you want is to get an english speaking standard ROM from HTC, you'll find them in the wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe.
You can pick any ROM that has the word "WWE" in its name (WWE means world wide english).
In this case, all you need is to download the ROM and run the exe.

No he can't flash directly any other rom, only Ger version, cause spl local control the zone of the rom corrispond to spl zone!
To perform a flash of a rom with another language you must use Hardspl or Uspl!

In the case of changing language using a stock ROM, I would use cRaCKwHoRe's USPL GUI v 2.5 Application to load USPL and the flash a stock ROM from the wiki.
There are instructions on how to run USPL GUI in the download and thread.

Thank you mate's. One more question: is there any risk if i use USPL GUI v 2.5 Application and then i flash a Stock ROM? If i install a english ROM and then i want go back to the original German one , can i still do this ?

i missed one step ???
these are the steps i did :
flash with hspl wrapper
flash french rom 1.56.406.1
until now all work great but then i have green display
i worry i changed the spl to 1114
i flashed with original rom german one
still green on display
still the same
i read all the tutos but i can't flash rom to black stone 1560linex
i ask recovery
sorry for my bad english i would have step by step a tuto in french or english with file name to change from german to french without problems

Please post these types of queries in the Flashing Guide thread.
Essentially though the spl and your rom need to match, if you have the wrong spl for the rom you are using, you'll get the green screen.
You say that all was working well on the French rom and then you suddenly got a green screen, or have you had it all along? Which spl did you use with this rom?
I can see that you have spl 1.14 on your phone now, but what are the details of the rom you are using (I know you say original German one), but do you have details such as the version eg 1.56.......? This will probably be the case and explains the green screen.
I don't understand what it is that you are trying to do. Which rom do you want on your phone ie the German one, the French one or a cooked one. If you want the French or German one you will need to find an official spl that matches the rom you choose. If you want a cooked rom, then you will need hspl (or uspl)
Please post the responses and more details to the thread in the link above and I'll try to help you there.
