This is the second time today that I have gotten an error message and a resulting code. One was error number 104, and after a bit of googling, the only decent result I got was with someone that had a Evo 4G.
Has anyone else gotten these issues?
I am rooted, am running Fresh 2.3.3. This has happened on my older, and newer (just refurbished) Hero.
Does anyone else get these error messages?
(Note, I did not search the XDA Developers forums, as usually their results also come up within Google. I will be doing that after I hit, submit thread.)
Bump, no one else has this issue I take it then?
After searching through the forums, I still didn't see anything a long the lines of an answer.
Also, now my phone (literally overnight) says that I have run out of disk space on my phone, even though I didn't do anything extra to it.

I've gotten it twice now. It'll say 1 unread message, when all are read. You can try emptying messages, but it still says 1 unread.
Is there any type of fix for this other then reloading the rom?
I found this little program the last time this happened on my Wing - it has happened twice, but the first time, I had to hard-reset for another reason, which took care of the problem.
I had to fool around a little with this, trying different combinations of runnning the app and soft resetting before I got the result I was looking for.
Anyway, here it is, good luck with it.

I have had the HTC touch diamond for a few months. For the most part I have liked it but now I am having problems. I get freezes like alot of people have reported but it's nothing consistent just a annoyance that you have to remove the battery just to make everything work again.
Recently I couldn't use the phone, network was having problems so I thought. Called Sprint and they said the tower in my area(only 1) wasn't at 100% so they said that could be my problem. Couldn't send or recieve calls or text. They changed my msid and also said I could try updating my rom. I had 1.09, now I have 2.00.
My main problems has to do with texting and settings for texts not being saved. When I have a open conversation and a text comes in, it keeps saying that I have a text to read but I don't(I have already received the txt during the conversation). Only way to stop that is to click on the persons name/number or leave the conversation an use the up and down arrows to find the latest text then it stops saying I have a text. Before the 2.00 update, all I had to do was txt the person abck and the message would go away(meaning I had read the txt) or just leave the conversation.
I cannot get any settings to stay saved. I keep getting like auto correct, suggestion for words and capitalization for first letter. I have them turned off but they keep happening. It's extremely annoying and don't want or need any suggestions. Half the time it's not even giving me the right word and sometimes I have to type the word, delete it then retype the word for it to just be accepted. I am also getting slight pauses/freezes when I text. Most of these problems I believe are caused by the 2.00 rom update. I did not notice most of these except for the settings not being saved. I believe that has always been a problem.
I have tried a hard reset but that didn't fix anything. I thought it would give me back the 1.09 rom but it didn't. No matter what I do, I still have 2.00. So If I am stuck with it, I would liek to know if anyone can help with these problems.
The time isn't always right. Sometimes it says I sent my text an hour before or an hour later and i get texts the same way. It's just random, nothing consistent.
90 views but no replies. Can anyone help?
Sorry to hear that no one is helping you. I been looking around and can't find a viable solution for you.
Apparently with HTC's website, it's better not to downgrade your ROM. So if you want to keep your guarantees or waranty with the phone, take it back to Sprint and they should be able to help. Or contact HTC directly.
I think that will be the best thing to do as no one here suffers the same problem as you. Hence for the no feedback.
Good luck!
Hi guys,
I have a major problem with my phone, I thought this was down to a certain ROM I was using but it happens no matter what I use.
Currently Im on Cyans latest, my phone keeps resending old text messages, the last one was at 6.30 this morning and it resent 2 texts that I sent yesterday. I dont get any notification this is happening and I have no idea why either.
As far as I know it has only started happening in the last 2 weeks, I have flashed countless different ROMs over the last 6 months so im pretty sure it's not because I have screwed something up in the process, could this possibly be a hardware issue as this happens accross many different roms, cyans, kings hero, mligns...
We seem to be able to fix anything, so does anybody have any ideas at all? I am really reluctant to unroot and try sending back to T-Mo for repair.
Thanks in advance for your help.
bump.......
Do you have it checked so you get delivery reports?
This happens to me sometimes. The message gets sent, but on the delivery report, it still shows pending. A few hours later, the message gets sent again, because as far as the phone knows, it is still pending. This usually happens when I restart my phone or something.
Usually, when it's pending, the message never gets sent, and it tells me the delivery failed. On occasion though, the same thing happens to me as well.
My suggestion is to turn on your delivery reports if you do not already, and monitor them and see if that is what is happening.
As for a solution, I just dealt with it because it doesn't happen often enough for it to bother me or the person that gets it twice. I did however see that if i reformat my sd card before every flash, especially if coming from a different rom, this does not happen. I am currently running Cyanogen's 4.2.5
Yeah, but mine sent a bunch more. I had delivery reports on, too. I just deleted the thread as soon as I was made aware (I have SMS backup and had just flashed to 4.2.5).
I'm back on 4.2.3.1 and reinstalled Handcent. I haven't had the problem since. There was an awful lot of very distressed discussion about 4.2.5 for everyone to ba accepting it as completely stable. Yes, it seems like it works for a lot of people, but it really, really doesn't work for enough folks. I"m not risking it.
Thanks for your input guys.
I finally updated to the official AT&T Froyo 2.2 probably about a month ago. Everything was working great. I wanted to root/enable sideloading apps/unlock. I used SuperOneClick 2.1.1. The root worked fine (at least I think so). I was not able to enable sideloading apps so I read online how to change the value of sideloading apps from 0 to 1. I also unlocked the phone using the Galaxy S unlock app from the the Market.
Almost right after the SD Scan would take a long time and then I would get a red SD card symbol saying "Low on Space - Database storage is getting low". I tried clearing cache's to fix the problem. It didn't fix anything. Soon thereafter I started getting "Message Memory Full - Incoming messages rejected due to full...." I cleared phone log/txt messages but it hasn't fixed anything. I looked at my internal and external SD card. My external card is 3.68 total with 17MB available. My internal has 12.67GB available.
Today all of a sudden if I try to look at my missed call I get "samsung captivate the application phone (process com.sec.android.app.dialertab) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I get similar messages trying to open Gmail. I haven't gotten it on any other apps yet as far as I know. It vibrates like crazy when the apps crash.
Can anyone help me with the problem? It's making my phone useless right now and my battery is dying much quicker than before. Thanks!

My vote is to go with a custom ROM. It will solve all of these problems. Cognition is the most similar to stock and is quite easy to flash. As for the problems you are having, I don't know what to tell you.
Try Cognition 4.5.3. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks for the quick replay Jack especially on a Fri night. What exactly do I do? Is it difficult to do?
Well, not busy tonight. Watching pre-season football.
Flashing a Froyo rom is not too bad. Since you have stock 2.2 it will be a little more tricky than if you were still on 2.1.
First, what is your build number? look on the sticker under your battery to see a four digit number beginning with either 10 or 11.
I will private message you with more.

Make sure you READ EVERY LINE OF THE OP. When you think you got it, read it again, then give it a shot. For the time being just factory reset your phone, should clear up some of your issues. Good luck
sent from long ago, in a Galaxy far, far away.
^^^ he's right. READ, READ, READ... until you're sick of it. It will pay off and keep you from bricking. Sorry I didn't mention that. But I will be glad to help you if you need.
and if (or when) you manage to brick it do not panic,, go back and read some more,, seems that almost everything an idiot like me can do is fixable,, and most normal people are pretty safe,, they are not going to kill their phone,,,,if they read and follow instructions,,,not doing those two have found my phone in some pretty unresponsive states,, but I am running mosaic VI now and loving it,,but have been on so many I had to go look,,and have finally I hope learned the value of reading ( and those other people probably do know more than me so I should not think I know better ,,,yet)

Not sure how much of knowledge you have gained before doing these attempts of changing some values to enable side-loading...
I would suggest to do factory reset since you are still on FROYO and see if this does the magic.
If it gets locked back to AT&T, I suggest just talk to AT&T rep to unlock & side-enabling. Once all is well, you can do rooting as you did before. Hope this helps to solve your problem.
For any other help, we have XDA here and get some time to go through forums. As others suggested, please read, understand and act.
A day after I posted this the phone seemed to be working right. However Jackman pointed out if it happened once it's almost sure it will happen again. I tended to agree with him so did a factory reset and then flashed with Cognition 4.5.3 with a lot of Jack's help of course. Right now seems to be working flawlessly. I do like this whole custom ROM idea. Even thinking about buying a used Captivate on ebay just so I can mess around with other ROMs. Thanks everyone for your help & input. If you have any other suggestions my ears are always open...

Just for a bit of encouragement ive been using Cognition 4.5.3 as my daily driver for the past 4-5 months and have never had a single issue with great battery life. Ive tried numerous other roms on this forum and always have run into a boot loop, force close, or other random issue that makes my phone unstable but with Cognition I experience what my phone was meant to be like.
Here's a new one, at least for me...when I hit my system update check button in about phone, my Bionic is spitting out
"check for update is not available
at this time.
Try again later,"
Has anyone else ever seen this message? It looks like its happening on 4G or wifi, haven't forced 3g and tried yet.
Usually I expect the "Your phone is up to date" message, but this one's new to me.
I'm bone stock, btw...no rooting yet.
I got that a few times yesterday and then tried again 10min later and it ran the check successfully but didn't find an update. When I ran the check for updates this morning it found the update and downloaded/installed successfully.
Well, that's encouraging I suppose...every time I think I really like this phone, something like this pops up...ugh, I want bionic speed and HP, but with my OG droid and droid X's "it just works" reliability.
I think the only reason you're seeing this error is because the servers are under a very heavy load pushing out the updates. I never saw this error before yesterday. But I'm with you on the frustration factor. I'm on my 4th Bionic now, if I continue to get the black screen of death, random reboots, or data connection issues, I'm going to do whatever I can to get a different phone. I've never had to return a phone to Vz before this model, nor I have ever spent so much on a phone. I certainly don't feel like I'm getting what I paid for. How this phone made it thru user testing with these issues blows my mind.
I had been getting that message ever since I replaced my SIM a couple months ago. I figured it wouldnt interfere with me getting any OTA's, but last night I decided to do a factory reset to see if that cleared it up. Low and behold i hit system updates and it said my system was up to date. An hour or so later I did it again and I got the update!
Good to know. I read a thread somewhere, I think it pertained to battery issues, and someone suggested that when you first take the phone out of the box the first thing you should do is a factory reset b/c it helps with overall performance. I don't know if there's any truth to that but that's what I've done on all of my replacement Bionics and I do perceive there to be some improvement. I don't know if it was necessary but I ran the reset after receiving the OTA today too just to rule that out if I have issues going forward - that's the first thing tech support makes you do when you have problems from my experience anyway.
I've been getting that message a lot too when checking for the update. I got the update today and it installed fine. Still have the data drops though. VERY frustrating.
One think I HAVE noticed with this update is that the battery stats are completely reversed. It used to be the display was down in the 3-5% region, as well as the Android OS. Now, those 2 are at the top, and my phone has just been laying on my desk most of the day.
I am not rooted. I've been getting that message since I got the phone in October. It only happens when I am on 3G. I haven't checked it on 4G (don't live near one) and it says "...up to date" when I am on WiFi.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I am getting frustrated... I have been getting the same error for three days now. I am rooted, but am on 5.5.886 and everything still the same. My partner is still original stock, and he's getting the same errors as well. Perhaps this is a regional thing? Anyone in the DC area get the update rolled out to them?
Additionally, can I just flash the update file that is posted here on the forums to upgrade manually? Or should I just wait?
Works!
I was getting the same "check for updates not available at this time" message, however I rebooted (used Quickboot, battery pull is not necessary). After the reboot went back to "Check for upgrade" and it worked; BUT just like the previous upgrade the process checks your file system and if you removed/altered any bloatware then it will fail and reboot. After the first time, I decided instead to create a folder "bloatware" in the system direction and move all bloatware apps to that folder. So this time around all I had to do was move all the bloatware back to the "app" folder in one shot. Very easy and straight forward (I also wrote down the bloatware apk filenames so I didn't forget that I moved over last time). Tried the update again, installed just fine, and phone is up and running.
AND....root is INTACT!
Btw...I had no idea there was a new update available until my friend who just got a new Bionic said he's having problems rooting on software v5.9.902
