Hi I have a question.
My sister from Korea sent me a Korean Version Samsung Galaxy S (anycall), I came from the Philippines. I had it unlocked and everything is working fine like calling, wifi, and etc. But I have encountered several annoying problems:
1. I cannot send sms as when I am trying to press the send button, a pop out "invalid sender'' appears. What might be the cause of this and what are the solutions? I am really a text person.
2. There are a lot of Korean Apps that I want to remove, is there any chance I can root it and install an English version
3. The dialer and keypad has a lot of korean characters, can I remove them?
Thanks in advance. will be waiting for your reply
i think you'll have difficulty finding compatible ROMs for the Korean version of the SGS
a Korean guy tried doing this, and he is now stuck with a bricked phone
I just recently purchased a samsung galaxy s from Korea, anycall is the telecom it used to be subscribed. its open-line now, but i had the same sms problem, "invalid sender" error...
solution is that you have to find an old cellphone, nokia or sony ericsson which has an option in the contact settings...and find to edit "my number", and place your number. voila! you can now send sms! or the other method is, from your galaxy s, go t the messenger>compose message>then left home option key>change sender...then put your number in FROM:, then your friends number in TO:...then you can send messages, its just a hassle that you have to enter your number everytime you send sms, better find the old phone so you can automatically send sms...hope this helps...
Hey!
I'm an SGS user from the Philippines as well. My phone was purchased from the US but sourced from Singapore. In it's original state, it was apparently from Singtel since it had the logo and Singtel apps and everything all over it. I hated this but managed to get rid of it all soon enough.
I flashed my phone to the generic DXJF4 firmware Find it on Samsung-Firmwares. Do NOT get the DXJG4 (which is the current one) firmware from there since it's corrupt and I'm not sure if they fixed it recently. Just download the DXJF4 firmware and flash your phone with it. There are tutorials here on XDA and on Samsung-firmwares, explaining how to do this specifically for SGS Or you can find tutorials on Youtube if you want. After flashing and making sure all is working fine, hook up your SGS to your computer and use Kies to update it to DXJG4 which is the most current firmware for our phone. And there you go!
It has English as the default language and my phone has been clean ever since. Doing this will clean out all those korean apps and such and get rid of the Korean language found throughout the system.
Make sure also before doing any of the flashing stuff that your phone has a lot of battery life left and that your three-button download mode works.
Please respond if this works or if you still are having issues. Good luck!
Hope this helped!

This is resolved with the flashing advice I gave.
anoneemooz flashing the singapore galaxy device is very different from the singapore device, we have different hardware while the singapore device is considered the international device. I9000 vs shw-m110s

Oh sorry I didn't know that. OP didn't really say much about his device model so I just assumed it was the normal, international, SGS.

anoneemooz, OP DID make mention that the SGS came from Korea and even bothered to mention the provider, AnyCall, which gives us more than enough clues as to what the phone is.
At any rate, kindly take consideration of such details as people who take advice posted here might end up bricking their phones. I myself am in the process of waiting for a solution to this problem and some might not be as prudent as I am and would jump the gun with advice such as the one you've posted.

Handsent SMS resolved the usual problems. But I have a Bank App which does some verification by sending SMS. It is failing. I think it is using the stock SMS app.

Hi
I have searched XDA-forum after a working solution, but have not found anyone that really works..
I have two problem that really irritates me:
1. Every time i send and recieve MMS i need to accept before the phone can send/recieve.
2. When i recieve MMS with image, the image is very tiny (like a thumbnail), is it possible to show images in original size? If i save the image on my phone and open it, it is in original size.
I can live with problem number 2, but not problem number 1.
I am using my Xperia with Telia simcard (swe).
Really looking forward to read your solution!
which rom do you use?
i had the same problem i think its a common fault if you search on here you should find to files you install which will sort the prob out
With R2A and R3A the problem is solved.
The manual solution:
change the reg with the follow values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
"Accept-Charset"="us-ascii;utf-8;iso-10646-ucs-2;ISO-8859-1"
"User-Agent"="prodigy/arcsoft-mmsua-ppc-3.0.0.xx"

Guys im battling with my MMS settings for my X1, pls help
im on vodacom and my phone has the vodafone live mark on it.

Hi all,
I tried to research my problem but I can not find any help.
Here is what I found by my experiment for this weekend.
Problem: On Froyo ROMs, I can receive SMS but CAN NOT send sms. MMS and 3g Internet is working fine as well as voice call.
Question: How do I set SMSC on Froyo, or is there way to fix this?
My findings after experiments:
1. Everytime I flash, regardless the types of a Rom wheather they are modified or origianl or Froyo or Eclair I can not send sms but able to receive. All the other functions of 3G internet and mms seems to be fine after APN setting.
2. On Eclair and Froyo I have tried type *#*#4636#*#* and went to phone info section, typed the SMSC number (that is 0430004010, I'm in Australia using Three hutchison ) pressed update and refreshed but everytime if i going back to testing page, the Input section is empty -> some reason the SMSC number does not get saved. I tried put +61430004010, then it will tell me "error update" whereas the 0430004010 will not show me any message
3. On Eclair, Message -> setting -> Text Message (SMS) Setting has " Message Server" section. I typed +61430004010 and then all of the Roms able to send SMS. This was the fix for my problem on Eclair.
HOWEVER, on Froyo, some reason this section is not available. As there are only two section available "Delivery reports" and " Manage SIM card messages"
4. I have typed **5005*7672*+61430004010# on phone number pad, code rejected...
I have searched the this forum and other forums too.. No one came up with solution apart from SMSC number. But it seems to me that I can't save the number if I go testing page by typing *#*#4636#*#*. Is there other ways to do this ? or have I done something stupid and missed obvious mistake (as usual ) ???
Any thoughts or comments I would really appreciate
Cheers
I have had the same problem, I tried to put it back to default setting, it works
Or go to drakaz forum, you can find help. Good luck!
Could not send SMS on Froyo
Hi!
I have M110S, just updated to Froyo (SL28), and couldn't send sms. The sms center number is correct (checked via SKT Admin menu), and SOMETIMES I could sent from 1 to 4 messages, but no more. I suppose it's possible right after writing the SMSC number, but not every time. Does anybody have the solution?
Have a root, if needed. It was no problems with Android 2.1 before.
Thanks!
BR, Yan.
I have the same problem. I am on XWJS3. Update error and no possibility to send sms

(sorry, xda don't let me to post links)
Code:
OK, I managed to fix this. I'll post the answer because this was buried deep and is a pain.
Answer is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-926771.html
The relevant text is below. One thing I'd say is that the link is a bit vague on how to do the conversion. You need to put your SMSC number in the page, clear the rest of the info and press convert. You then need to ignore the numbers after 11.
For example, my vodafone +447785016005 goes to 0791447758100650110000910000AA00, which shortens to 079144775810065011. Go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu and put that in SMSC and hit update. Messages now send!!!. Hopefully I can save someone else the grief I've had all day...
"
to update the SMSC in android,
the number first need to be encoded
please use below url to encode the SMSC
http://www.twit88.com/home/utility/sms-pdu-encode-decode
for example, if your SMSC is number is +4531300000,
after encode, it is 0691541303000011
put this in the info page, and it will work.

Hey, so I've been having the same problem with my shinny new stock LG G2x that I recieved as an easter present. I realize that its not the same phone as in the thread, and its not rooted, but its still running 2.2.2 Android so I assumed the ideology would be the same, I'm on a foreign exchange in Italy and I've been usin TIM (smsc +393359609600) and I've been having no luck using the converted PDU or just putting in the number using the *#*#4636#*#* or the **5005*7672*[number] methods in my phone settings when I click refresh next to the smsc a PDU number comes up, 002B003300390033003300350039003600300039003600300030, in the text box, so I'm assuming my phone needs a PDU number for the smsc, but what number I still don't know and was hoping you could help.
For me, the much simpler and robust solution using AT commands worked flawlessly.
There is AT+CSCA command which does exactly this: setting SMS service number. Example usage:
Code:
AT+CSCA?
+CMS ERROR: 330
AT+CSCA="+380910440601",145
OK
AT+CSCA?
+CSCA: "+380910440601", 145
OK
This should work on virtually every device, not nesessarily Android one. You just need to connect to its console in modem mode, as usual with all AT commands.

I'm having weird thing regarding sms since I installed Android on my vogue. I was on wm6.1 for a long time and decided to install Android. I tried 3 differents port of Android, I finally ended up with Fresh froyo on a kernel 2.6.25. But on all android version I tried I had the same problem. Some sms came in with what it's look like to me chinese characters. I can receive a readable sms from someone and the next sms he's sending it's in chinese. So my question is there any known problem or issues with sms on android ? I did some search here and I didn't find anything like this. Should I go with another sms application ?
Thanks
The solution is to write SMS without accents at least it was solved for me that way.
Yeah i thought it could be something like that... except I don't have any control on incoming sms
I have to send SMS in Russian beneficiary receives the trash.
Is either a solution?
PS: I assume that the case in the coding but the original client settings is not found. Handtsent does not help, Problem remains.
Sorry for the English, I use google translator
In my case only happened when sending messages with accents but the received SMS well so the problem can be language used in your country.
The boy in russia no idea what caused your problem because not I understood he meant.

Let me explain. I have installed HTC VOGUE Fresh Froyo from 23.01.2011 at Nand. In the system settings chosen language is Russian. Sms recruited normally in Russian. But my sms people get in unreadable encoding. I have an idea that problemma encoded message to be sent, but the settings do not have the choice of encoding.

Hi guys,
I posted this on the CyanogenMod forums, but no one replied, so I guess I will try there
Just installed CM7.1 a few weeks ago. I barely use SMS messages, however, yesterday I needed to send a couple but the recipients are getting a lot of garbage when they receive my message. It only happens if the text contains an accented word. If I write in plain english, the sms is received just fine.
Attached you will find two screenshots of this problem. One in a HTC Wildfire S, and another in a BlackBerry Pearl.
This never happened on the stock Samsung ROM (XXJVT), so I guess its a CM7-stable bug.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
;/ same problem ...

Which 'accented word', exactly? Maybe the other phones don't support the characters you are trying to send them? Other than that, I can't reproduce this myself, so I'm not entirely sure.

Try with:
- número
- canción
- áéíóú
The fact is, this didn't happen on stock XXJVT, it happens only on CyanogenMod 7 stable. Those are my close friends mobiles, and I have texted them before on stock with no issue at all.
I don't think its a recipient problem. Those accented letters are pretty common in spanish.
I m not a app developper or anything but I had an idea maybe u guys can do this:
So we knw we cant reply texts or emails from the gg .. how about someone make an app which can be customized up to 10 words so that we can answer texts like whatsapp
For example: u receive a whatsapp msg like "where are you?" And when you open ur gg there would be a reply button when u press it u can choose from ur customized words what to send.
It could be cool if we had like 10 words we could reply with: yes ,no, okay ,5 minutes, why, and some other key words . Like this when ur driving or walking u wont need to take off ur phone to reply for little stuff
It doesn't need rescuing
Also, you should reply to anything when driving!
And finally, you definitely should install the null rom, then you can reply to WhatsApp using the watch with whatever message you want
