It's not an answer but you may consider doing "factory reset". It helped a lot. No FCs at all.

And how do i do this? A factory reset?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

From settings > Privacy > factory data reset.
The lag fix makes it work perfectly but rooting is required.

I had a terrine lag and tons of FCs too. But after the factory reset it's SO much smoother; smoother than the JM5 I was on previously. I don't think I'll even install the lag fix.

I use ES file explorer and switching from SD to root folders fas a bit slow without lagfix.
With it it's instant.
But the rest of the UI and apps work flawless indeed.

I'd also suggest trying DocRambone's mod as it had a huge impact on performance for me.

Market slow downloads

So I have an issue. I'm running the leaked froyo rooted. I noticed that ever since I upgraded to froyo market downloads are excruciatingly slow and the market is just slow period. Even with the new market. I also get a lot of failed downloads. Anyone know what could be the cause? I have a 6mbit/ second connection. I know its not the phone because browsing the web and any other network traffic is very fast.

With leaked froyo or any froyo rom every body gets the same android id. Because there could be hundreds of people trying to download apps at the same time with the same id it can slow down.
The way ro fix this is to fish back to stock using odin. On stock you will get your id back. Download android id changer from market. Save id, created a file on your sd. When you flash any version of froyo you can download same app click load id click change. Now you are unique again

Thanks! Glad to know that the issue is known. I'm going to just wait for the official update then. I hate having to reload alll my apps

1. Install stock 2.1
2. Install "ID" from market and take a backup of the android id
3. Install the 2.2 ROM of ur choice
4. Get the 'android id changer' from the market
5. Copy the android id from 2.1 onto whatever ROM u installed
Problem solved
Problem solved. Did some more research just cleaned the cache and now I'm back to super fast downloads. 4mb in 10 seconds

lagfix causing lag on overcome gold?

I upgraded from stock froyo to oc 2.0.0 gold.
Then I noticed some lags.
the worst were in the gallery app which had about one fps while thumbnails were loading and in maps when zooming in to a level where buildings are displayed and then I then scrolled. This totaly stalled the device for more than 10 seconds sometimes.
Then I disabled lagfix in recovery and now it feels like in froyo again, both maps and gallery (i have about 800 photos on the device so itcan be easyly reproduced.
I wanted to post it in the oc thread in dev section, but I do not have permissions to do so.
Any ideas?

any ideas of what if you already found the solution ? ... they have to work on it little bit more give them time , they will release an update so wait
For me my problems are solved, but isnt this the purpose of this forum to tell others?
I know that there were reports of lags but I dont remember someone pointing at lagfix to cause the lag.
Sorry if this was already known.

Your gallery will lag after a new rom, as it needs to build a cache first.
If you followed the instructions perfectly when flashing overcome you shouldnt have any lag
I followed the instructions 100%. Really pedantic.
After killing and restarting the gallary app the lag was back evrry time, rebooting didnt help either. It didnt seem to be a cache issue.
After disabling lagfix galary was fast right from the start.
also all other lags I noticed vanished.
I can turn lagfix back on and see what happens, my guess is that lags will come back.

The lagfix could be borking with the included tweaks, but you dont need the lagfix anyway
Yep, lagfix is a stupid name for a filesystem conversion anyway.
I admit I did not know what lagfix was until I tried to disable it, heard the robot voice and then checking via adb shell for mounted filesystems.
I have no problem with rfs and will stick to it for now.

ok I converted back to ext4, tested and converted to rfs once more.
with ext4 gallery lags like hell, with rfs it is okay.
Strange..

Camera not working

My camera has seemed to stop working I can use the app for a few seconds but then force closes please help me or can some one find the APK file.for the camera

Are you on stock custom or cm7
If non stock reflash and should fix, might have to wipe data also
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I'm using rooted gingerbread 2.3.3 used SGS tools try to install camera hack app and ended up making camera not work
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
You can reverse the camera hack by using the script. Did you do anything with the stock E-Mail app? When I changed my E-mail.apk to the new Galaxy Tab version my camera stopped working. Who would have thought that the E-mail.apk could mess up the camera.....
No i didn't mess with the email and how.do.I change the script
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
1.) Start SGS Tools
2.) Go to apply script
2.) select restore_camera.txt
SGS tools is not made for 2.3 so most of the things you can do will cause problems
had the same issue here. reflashed, problem solved
Oh I try that yesterday so I guess I will try and reflash and see how that goes
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
same same. re-flashed but still broken. even the script to return to stock doesn't fix the problem. bastard camera.
Serendipity VII Kernel 4.0
I re flashed the phone and the camera works again thanks for the help you guys would have never thought to re flash the firmware
re-re-flashed and the camera is working. Note to self...don't use SGS anymore.
Also, when in doubt re-flash...when in further doubt...re-re-flash...
oh and don't forget to back it up...

[Q] X8 Slows down gradually

Hi All,
As I can see that no matter which ROM I install in my X8 the phone will be great in the initial days but it gradually slows down as days go by.
So can you all list out different methods to keep the phone fast and snappier without factory resetting it?
Thanks,
Well first thing that comes to mind is a reboot. But i guess you've done that. Clear cache?
Sent from my rooted tomato using xda app
How often do you install new apps? More apps = more lag

Well I guess that would make it a little faster but is there a way that i can do without rebooting the phone and going to recovery and all?
Does the app "RAM Manager" help? or the "Engine flush" in supercharger script by zeppelinrox?
Try Ram Manager Pro
Clear cache

Ram manager didn't work for me. I use supercharger. I'm not saying it's better, just my preference. Well, fef (flush) works. I haven't experienced a major decrease in performance since using it. Hopefully it works for you too.
But still, i've found rebooting your phone every once in a while helps.

It isn't a good idea to mix scripts.. Use one only for performance tweaks..
So either use Ram Manager Pro or supercharger..
My preference is Ram Manager Pro because you don't need hubble telescope to read the settings and apply the tweaks..
Reset factory settings
Cachemate and similar apps work for me, I clean cache every 3 days and phone is never sloved
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
How about a custom kernel. That may speed your phone up and give you the option to overclock and undervolt. Both will make it faster. But the x8s hardware is outdated anyway. Won't be long 'til it's on the legacy devices list
Hey theres one simple solution..use good task manager.......and use swapper........

Use swap IF you're on custom kernel. DO NOT use a task manager.
Either way, your phone will gradually get slower unless you do a reboot at least.

Just reboot. Rebooting stops all cache. You could clean database and wipe dalvik cache too
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
This what I did...
I use FroyoBread v23b (Great rom, hanks to doixanh), I did that:
# Just install the necesary apps. Don't install all the aps, I just have Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, SMmagager and root explorer.
# Install modules and scripts. I recommend you Supercharger, do a overclock (Not to high, just the enough, like 691mzh)
# Like the other guys say, Clear the cache.
# Use a simple launcher. Like LauncherPro, you can do nice things with that launcher.
# Disable the screen animations. You'll gain performance but loose visual attractions. If you don't want it, dont do it.
# DONT USE TASK MANAGER. The simple answer it's, leave Android manage the RAM.
# Use a light and simple theme. Like system theme of Gingerbread or Motoblur.
Here in the forum you can a lots of launchers, modules and more, just use the search tool.
This is I remember what I did, my mobile fell so light and quickly, no lag in the scrolling.
Sorry for my bad english :silly:
I think u didnt factory reset a once.
Thats why rom lagging. Do it for ur sake

There is a dudy way to got the phone to new condition.
Backup ur current rom with x-recovery
Fully wipe data
Restore that rom from x-recovery.
