I cant access my voicemail because the dialpad tone is to long and not short "beeps". How do you change this. I posted on 4 other forums and nobody replied. Thanks in advance
Good question. I've run into this from time to time as well. Hope someone had an answer.
Any typos or other oddities in this post are brought to you by the letters G & T, the number 9000, and Swype.
So your saying this happens sometimes for you but not always?
I have also been looking for a solution. Because the dial tone length is so long VM as well as telephone backing cause entry issues for me.
I wonder if it is buried in a secret menu?

The tone length is always the same. Sometimes I just enter the digits faster than others and that's when I have issues.

Solved
I finally figured out how to get it to work. You must select speaker prior to selecting the dial pad. Works every time. If you dont select speaker first then you get the long tones.
I'd like to bump this. Voicemail on my phone is driving me nuts. Going to speaker does seem to work. But really, should I have to set my phone to speaker-phone to be able to access my voicemail, on a $500 phone?
Does anyone know how to fix the touch tones on the Galaxy S?
Thanks
I have the same problem occasionally but it only seems to happen to me when I have poor reception.
I haven't found a fix, but I just thought if add my observations.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Thought I would post an update. I was looking around in my Sound and Display settings today.
I noticed that Audible touch tones was selected. I deselected it and now I seem to have no issues at all with touch tones. Tried it a few times and worked each time. Hopefully this fixes my problems...
Thanks! I was trying to pay my cell bill via my phone and couldn't get it to work. That setting worked wonders.

Perhaps someone else has this problem too? So I didn't want to keep the solution to myself.
I can not remember if it was so ever since I burned this ROM, but today I noticed that the sounds of my dial pad were much softer than any other system sound. And it annoyed me.
I found the setting in registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Feedback\InitVol
changed it from hex 2 to hex 16
While doing this I also noticed that the dial pad becomes more responsive by using wav sounds instead of mid's (perhaps wishful perception ;-)
These sounds are in HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\DTMF...
What the use is of the Feedback\DefaultSound is an unsolved mystery to me. But not important.
Hi!
I have a very strange problem... after a while I have no ringtone (sound) any more.... I select a tune, it works ... but after a while there is no sound when a I receive a incoming call..
Sms, email sound etc are ok, but no ringtone with a incoming call....
When I do a hard reset, everything is ok for a while .... but after a xx period
its gone again ...
Suggestions ? I've done no reg tweaks etc..
Suggetions ?
I experience the same problem after disconnecting my bluetooth earphone.
Same here, "sometime" after disconnect BT stereo headset, my phone go muted. even adjust volume doesn't screen doesn't hv sound. Problem occur randomly. hard reset didn't help. I get around 10% chance to hit the problem after using my BT.
Please see my thread they are related!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399430
so it might be a BT problem .... any solutions found ?
My phone just loses audio altogether after a period of time. I am not using BT, havent even setup a headset for use yet. MP3 plays but no sound. SMS no sound. System Event no sounds. Incoming call ringtone doesnt play. Call conversation i get no sound. I can't figure what triggers it. Phone can just be in sleep mode, i receive a phone call and no ring. Even adjust the volume sliders and then it will lose audio straight away.
Another strange audio issue i have is the Alarm doesnt work. Alarm will start to play but then device will freeze after 1 second of trying to play the alarm tone. Soft reset is the only way to fix it, after which it will lose audio again after a while. Have already done numerous hard resets and run a clean device with no programs or tweaks applied. SAME ISSUE!!!! I can put up with a laggy interface but no audio renders the phone a brick! Please help!
Someone a suggestion for the problem?
Xivius is ur problem similar to mine? Or is urs the Bluetooth issue mentioned by the others? i been running round in circles. HTC Aust told me to go back to TW. Taiwan told me call Singapore. Singapore told me to call Vietnam HTC Support cos apparently thats where my unit originates from. bought it off ebay so wouldnt know
Xivius, did you got that problem fixed?

I'm now using wired handsfree, same problem happen! seems not BT, it's more related to the HTC music player?
My story is exactly the same as bds008. I have disabled the vibration as much as I know and it seems to help a little but not all together. My phone mutes mostly when I am answering a call, but also on more occasions. It seems quite randomly.
I don't use BT at all and I haven't installed anything 3th-party wise.
I want to contact HTC Netherlands about this, but as I am in the middle of moving to a new home, I haven't found the time yet. I don't want to try 1.37 because of the warranty. (And I would like to keep it Dutch....)
Any updates on this problem ? Solutions ?
xivius, i had to send my unit back, they reckon its gonna take 10 business days to test and repair, if its a confirmed hardware fault unit they will give me a replacement unit. Kinda dissapointing considering the phone can be considered Dead on Arrival. Looks like i wont see my phone for at least another 2 weeks, and i only had it three days.

If your running an older rom then perhaps you should look into flashing the Diamond with a newer rom and see if that fixes the problem. But if you want to keep your warranty then why dont you send it back??. Get HTC to fix it or send it back to where you got it from and demand a new replacement.
REason i say this is because you posted this thread nearly a week ago and as of today...no one has a solution but yet you still have the phone??. Seriously if it was me, the phone would have gone back straight away for a replacement or refund.
Seems like it's getting more people into this problem. 1st i thought im the only one who caught in this unlucky unit. I explained in numerous forum no one seems to know the causes or what da fark im talking about. I did an update to 1.37 too and it's doesn't work either.
Yes the phone "TOTAL MUTED" randomly, particularly after conversation. Only soft reset can restore the sound. Did a few times hard reset too, won't work. Sent back to HTC last week, don't know how long it will take.
Btw i'm glad to know someone actually had this problem, too
p/s: Since i thought im the only one got such bizzare defect unit. So.....
Good to read that 1.37 doesn't bring any solution. I was hesitating to try.
Funny thing is that since I contacted HTC about the exchange procedure, my Diamond hasn't muted spontaniously anymore! it seems that it has become attached to me...
Today I've sent my Diamond to HTC (via 2call.nl) for repair ... lets hope they will give me a new one fast ...

I've had my device for 2 days and have upgraded to 1.37. I confirm I have the same problem where the phone doesn't ring at all no matter what the settings. I haven't even switched on bluetooth yet so it can't be that in my case.
If I have "ring", no sound, the unit just flashes. If I have "ring and vibrate", the unit vibrates perfectly; again, no sound. In other words, no combination of events brings up the sound. The sound is perfect when in the ringtone selection screen though.
Since there are a few people with this problem, it may be that it's a ROM issue. Since we all got our phones from different places at different times, it's unlikely to be a manufacturing fault...
Here's hoping for a solution from someone ....
Regards,
Gary.
Folks,
I've just discovered the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399430&highlight=Ringtone
In post #30, I found the answer to my problem
Basically, I didn't realise that the HTC volume control manages Windows and PHONE volume seperately (why the heck can't they put both on the same screen like with the WM volume control )
I really hope that others with the same problem in the thread can fix their problems with this!
Regards,
Gary.
Gary, glad to hear ur problems been fixed. I had my phone 3 days and its been sent back to HTC taiwan, they gonna take 2-3 weeks to get it back to me apparently. I checked out the thread you are talking about, obviously i can't test it now, but im sure it shouldnt make a difference if you use HTC volume control or the windows volume control. And yes i did know thw HTC one can control either phone or system separately. Basically i could get the phone to fault and lose sound just by sliding the HTC volume slider up and down, or when it did fault, sliding the HTC volume slider and setting it to vibrate and back up again made no diff, so i dont think it has to do with this? Hopefully my replacement or maybe even repaired unit dont have the same prob. Maybe those that have the prob and still have the phone can test out the suggested fix and report.
Hi,
I gave my wife my Tytn II after I upgraded to an X1. I hard reset it and set it up for her to use on Orange UK.
It now does two weird things that it never did when I had it.....
1: When she makes a call in the car using bluetooth, the in-call volume slider automatically goes to zero and the other end can't hear her at all. If someone rings her it's fine.
2: Active Sync insists on firing up even if you close it again. It never did that with me and I can't find how to stop it?!
I've done a fair bit of searching but have now given up and am hoping someone might know the answer to either or both of the above? Or point me at the right thread if there's one out there?
cheers!
I've got the Samsung Captivate not even 30 days used and just yesterday the sound for calls stopped working completely. when I make or receive a call I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me and there is no dial tone during the calling process. The speakers work fine, the microphone works fine and the speakerphone speaker all work fine I have no idea whats causing this. If anyone, anyone at all, could help me figure this out. I've tried resetting the phone as well as hard reset. I've messed with all the settings and am running everything stock except that the phone is rooted which was done 2 weeks ago so obviously not the problem. I've googled this for 2 hours and looked everywhere and am getting sick and tired of this. Please if anyone can help me I would be more appreciative than you could imagine. Thanks.
It's difficult to say what exactly is causing your loss of sound with only phone calls. I suppose it could be a number of things. I read the software update AT&T is pushing out this week is fixing some issues such as that; however, from just looking at the forums people are having major trouble with that update. The easiest fix I can think of is to turn up the voice call volume. During you next phone call use the volume rocker to turn it up. It may have somehow been turned all the way down. I hope that helps.
Yea i tried the volume rocker, I am just going to return it to the store since it's still in the first 30 days. I can't figure out what the heck it is, probably just a defect :-/
I tried unrooting it, reseting to factory defaults, and still the same problem. The speakers work fine for music, the phone is in amazing condition and everything is fine, it's just the darn voice calls, incoming and outgoing just don't work, the other person gets the call and it registers but no sound comes out. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this before I go back to the at&t store, it's quite far from where I live and living on campus makes it a bit hard to get there.

Well, I just got the same problem too. I was unable to listen anything on voice call and the other person can't hear anything too but the call is connected. I noticed that I could make phone call and hear the voice call but as long as the call ends, I can't hear other person if I make another call again. Please help. Thanks!
Got Note 3 on launch day. Worked well until a few days ago when all attempts to use my Bluetooth speakers (Jambox and Big Jambox) began to result in the sound coming nearly inaudibly from the phone speaker. Additionally, when I attempt to use the auxillary jack in my car through the headphone port on the phone to listen to audio, the sound now comes out the car's speaker phone unless I turn off Bluetooth (on the phone). Even worse, after I attempt to use Bluetooth, the volume on the phone is stuck at approximately 25% of normal even with the all the volume sliders at maximum until I restart the phone. I have performed a factory reset without any change. I have unpaired and re-paired all three Bluetooth devices I use. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I have a faulty unit? Any help would be appreciated.

Finally...found someone who is having the same problem as mine.
yes.. im getting pissed off because of this to. Had to do a factory reset for nothing. Didnt fix it at all.
when i get into my car and turn the bluetooth on ... open the stock music app...it says "unable to play during call". Using another music app will result in the sound coming from the phone speaker (the one to use for calling)... reseting the phone makes no difference....
this is really annoying..

Before seeing this post of yours..i thought it might be because of the defective phone...but turns out its not...
When the bluetooth is connected....when you press the up/down volume button...notice that it is changing the sound of an incoming call.....

I did not have this kinda issue with the old version that came with the phone. After the newest update, it's kept on happening. So I guess its because of the update....
"the volume on the phone is stuck at approximately 25% of normal" => This actually is the reason why we can't play music. The phone thinks that we are on a call.
Your point about the volume rocker showing the call symbol is exactly what was happening in retrospect. And the phone, while it wouldn't play media files, would still connect for a phone call. This is all past tense because I swapped that phone out tonight and am really hoping that will do the trick. One would think that if this was due to an update, a whole lot more people would be having trouble.

Unfortunately, the new phone is acting like almost exactly like the old one now so software it is. I have found a couple of work arounds but hope they will be only needed temporarily.

Found an idea on another forum that seems (so far) to have solved my problem. One of the folks on the Android Central forum noted that when the text+ app was set to take incoming calls, the Bluetooth got wonky in exactly the same way mine did. When I unchecked "Enable incoming calls" in the settings of the text+ app, my phone started working correctly again (so far).
Same issue

Fixed
I have had no further problems since changing the setting in the textplus app. I would consider my issue solved!

Let me try that ! Thanks a bunch for that
This fixed the issue for me too. Thanks!
also fixed
Had the same issue, using a galaxy s3 took the 4.3 update and the problem started.
turns out it was text plus, I had to log off of text plus , all good once again. I'm going to uninstall text plus and re install, see if it helps, if not, I don't need that app that bad.

Hangouts is in call in the background
I was getting the same error "Unable to play during call".
By killing Hangouts from Application Manager, music starts playing normally.
I turned off Hangouts to permanently resolve the issue.
Hit Thanks!, if it helps
