Including internal SD card and such, I'm worried that formatting it on the computer will obliterate the phone!
type this on the dial pad
*2767*3855#
Manual method is to place the phone in Restore Mode (Vol up + Home then Power on)
Factory Reset then Clear Cache
Factory reset can also be done in Settings.
Then through settings unmount and format the internal memory and external memory if you wish.
If you're selling it, also copy large random files onto the cards after formatting (so the data can't be recovered)
Thanks for the help guys, not selling, just wanted to start fresh

Does anyone know if you will wipe out your 4gb internal storage if you hard reset your phone?
thanks!
internal storage
Easiest way to reset it to go to setting and where it says...clear storage open and choose your options. Works for me.
No you wont. The 4GB internal storage is kept intact.
thanks man!
you get to choose on the hard reset menu if you want to hard reset the phone and format the internal storage or if you just want to hard reset the phone memory.
I have a question. Maybe a noob one. But I'll appreciate the help. If I do a factory reset and wipe system, cache and data will I loose the files that are in the phone usb storage? Thanks

Ive found the only way to loose the stuff in internal sd card storage, where you can put your files is when you format usb storage, in sd card menu... Also i think odin repartition does it, but not sure about the second one.
If your worried about loosing it why not just comy it to your computer, do what you need to then copy it back
I am in the process of backing up a Moto G (2014) but have come across this issue when trying to backup data that is apparently on the SD card. It reads as ~22GB out of ~29GB (32GB SanDisk) but the only files that are shown in the Android settings menu are Apps and Cached Data. I can't recover this other than through the phone as it is formatted for Internal use.
I am aware of the issue where a PC cannot see this data, my issue is where the phone itself doesn't show the data. I don't want to go ahead and format as 22GB is a lot of data.
What I have done so far:
I have followed the suggested fixes for the PC specific issue (clear data/cache of External Storage and Media Storage system apps and wipe cache partition). No assistance.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Phone is locked, stock, unrooted, 6.0.
Hello,
Recently my Wiko UFeel (using Marshmallow Android) restarted automatically and won't pass from the UFeel logo image. I know I problaby have to do a factory reset, however I need to backup some files to my computer, both from the phone and the SD Card which, unfortunately, is mounted as internal storage, meaning I can't plug it to a card reader or any other Wiko device to copy the files. What I'd like to know, please, is:
1) If I execute the factory reset with the SD card in my device, will the data also be erased or just the data from the internal storage (or both) ?
2) If I execute the factory reset without the SD card in my device, will I be able to use it as is after the phone is reset or will I need to format it ?
3) Is there any way for me to plug the phone to a computer so I can backup the files ?
4) Is there any way I can backup the SD card through some other means ? I tried ADB but it doesn't recognize my device.
Thank you very much

Factory reset will not wipe the external sdcard.
Yes, you should be able to use the sdcard with no issues after the factory reset.
No, there's probably no way to backup the data that is on internal.

Factory Reset from settings.
That says when doing it but I'm not sure if it is, could someone who has done it answer me?
It erases everything. Not only your photos.
The devil is in the details - factory reset, like as in fresh out of the factory...
If you have an sd card transfer everything you want on to that and it won't erase the sd card, unless you then format the sd card...
Only if they are stored in internal storage if they are all on sd card Factory reset doesn't affect them. Transfer all photos to SD and download smartswitch app and make a backup store it on sd as well then do your reset and voila!
