[Q] Flashing HELP PLEASE!!

Hi,
This is my second time flashing a rom. I own a rogers captivate and I rooted and flashed to Darky's v7.0 (2.2 Froyo) NO WIPE.
I want to change the rom to Doc's ROM JPY V6.2 CE.
All i know is that I have to copy the .zip folder in sd card folder and flash it using rom manager. Do I have to do the same to flash with this one?
I have read all over the forum and I read that I am supposed to flash back to stock 2.1 and then flash again to a different rom(any other rom). Someone also told me that if I have a NO WIPE version of rom installed then I don't need to flash back to 2.1. Is this true? Can someone please confirm this?
1. Should i just download the rom and just flash through rom manager(if yes, then skip q#2) or change to stock 2.1 first?
2. If i have to change back to stock 2.1, i think I have to use something called ODIN. Can someone explain me the process please? and I dont know where to get stock rogers 2.1 rom. I looked all over the forum.
3. I do not want to overclock my phone cpu. The main post on DOC's rom says that I have to flash a kernel through CWM after first boot. I dont know what CWM means or how to use it. Any instructions?
4. Should I install the Wipe version or the NON-wipe version? and what is the difference? I like changing roms once in a while and I might change it again but I dont know which one I should use.
5. Is this a 2.1 eclair rom or 2.2 froyo? How do i figure it out without installing?
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with these questions.
Thanks a lot.
I have always just booted into recovery mode with CWM and flash the zip that way as it works for any rom i have tried so far. I have rom manager but never used it to load a rom since CWM works flawlessly everytime for me.
The simple answer is if your changing ROMs (i.e. Cognition to Perception) - should flash back to stock then load the new ROM.
If your just updating an existing ROM and it has the "no-wipe" version? Then you should be able to run the *.zip provided following the instructions given (most likely through ROM Manager/CWM)

[Q] few rom questions

Hi guys recently rooted and installed CWM.
But I have no idea where to start on roms. I have kk9 stock rom, does this mean I have to kk9 based roms or can I just install any I want?
Also is there any recommended cwm guides to make sure I don't brick my note?
you can flash all CWM flashable roms you are not limited to kk9 only roms.
actually using it is very easy but dont a guide for it.

[Q] bell i9000m kernel flash help

I got a canadian bell gt i 900 stock rooted with gingerbread 2.3.3and i would like to flash a custom rom and kernal onto it but i need to bac.kup my stock rom first.but everytime i go to back it up i get verification errors.. so i google it and i come across something that tells me my stock kernal has e3 recovery and it needs e2. But as i google more it tells me there is no kernel for my stock rom that will work. which means i wont be able to backup my stock rom. its all kinda confusing to me and i just dont want to brick my phone. if someone could point me in the right direction tha would be apreciated.
Does anybody know of a kernel i could use to get by this?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA
A basic rooted kernel for the Bell 2.3.3 can be downloaded from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21655532&postcount=492
It still has the 3e recovery so may not resolve the issue you are having, but it will give you root.
i have the device rooted through super one click. but i want to be able to flash like a cynogen mod with like a smearphone kernel(sorry for bad spelling). but i cant get backups of my stock rom because i got 3e instead of 2e, therefore i get verification errors using rom manager to backup. and then i need the rom and kernel files i want to flash.

Droid 4 Stock Rom Needed

I was wondering if anyone has the stock rom for my droid 4? 6.13.219.xt894.Verizon.en.us? Ever since i rooted it, I accidentally uninstalled some bloatware and now that's preventing me from updating. Even after I get the stock rom, how would i install it? Any help would be appreciated :fingers-crossed:
just download the 98.72.18.XT894.xml from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_maserati/list.php
and Use RSD Lite to flash a .XML Stock Rom (firmware)
I'd just use this and have it done automatically.
