[Q] X1 ROM Update with SD Failed - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
i had a problem while updating the rom of my x1 from an old release of energy rom to a new 826x Series. this wasn't the first time i did it, after it says Update Success, i've rebooted my phone and it freeze with the SonyEricsson image.
I've tryed to reflash the new Energy rom again and it give me the same result.
what i've to do?
when i flash it only update KOVSIMG.nbh and OS and says OK on both.
i remember the first time i did, it had to update RADIO and other 2 things....
let me know!
Thx 2 every1

If possible download it again...might be corrupted file.
Has happened to me also couple of times.

Thread removed to Q&A as not Rom Dev, please post in the correct section
Thank you
Badwolve1

thanks mal, i've just flashed other 3 times then with no more hope i left it a night with the SonyEricsson logo on his screen and in the morning i culdn't belive my eyes it has started WinMo!

Enter in boot mode! (color screen)
Download RUU.
Rename rom "KOVGSIMG.NBH" to "RUU_signed.nbh" and copy to RUU folder.
Open RUU (Rom Update Utility). And next next next...
RUU will ask to you connect the device! Now you connect USB cable to PC and follow the steps.
Before this, if your x1 isn't booting, we have a ROM problem. You will need to download another one...
Sorry for English.

Help for updating ROM on HTC HD

Hi,
I have my mobile updated with Dutty's ROM version Ruu_Signed_Dutty's_HD_V2.1_XTREME_5.2.21018.1.6.0_Test4 from HTC original shipped ROM without issues. I decided to try the Miri_WM65_21198_V5.2_Premium ROM using BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe. Every time I try it struck on 0% on mobile phone screen and on computer screen. I tried Ruu_Signed_Dutty's_HD_V2.1_XTREME_5.2.21018.1.6.0_Test4 and it also strucked at 0%. After waiting for many minutes BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe gives Error 262 and ask to follow reccovery. Any idea guys what could be the issue. Due to this I am not able to update any ROM on my mobile now.
Is there any other software for ROM update instead of BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe that I can try?

Have you installed HardSPL, or have you used USPL for flashing your first rom?
You can try to flash it withouth using your PC at all. Format your sd card, rename the image to "BLACIMG.nbh" drop it on the card.
Power off your device, and hold the volume down button, while powering it on again.
Maybe you used USPL to flash it the first time?
If you did you have to use USPL again to flash a new rom or install HSPL to avoid this problems again.
I used the BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe that is I think HardSPL and flashed my first ROM using PC (Windows XP). I didnt install any thing on mobile before hand... right now I am trying to do second ROM flash and where I am failing. I suppose although my first flash ROM is running fine but I did some thing or missed some thing that is stopping me flashing second time... ? any further help if I can still flash using PC?
Guys Sorry i am ignorent about HardSPL and USPL but I used the BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe that shows version 3.27.4.3 for first ROM (Dutty's)flashing.
Use HardSPL
I think you are not using the hardSPL. Go to Dutty's latest ROM page and install the hardSPL like is explained on his page.
After this worked, you can follow the instruction like mentioned above...
Here is link of page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498326
Rename the rom file to BLACIMG.nbh and put it on your SD card. Make sure you have enough battery power, don't connect to pc, and push power button while holding volume down. Follow instructions...
Thanks Dutchprop , after updating to HardSPL every thing worked fine. Thanks again for your help ...

Don't dispair! I had the same problem and got out of the situation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377&p=3677341
You probably have the wrong Original Rom from HTC installed (may wrong language).
To solve the situation you will need USPL. USPL will install. If you are using Windows Vista you will probably have to update the drivers (See the thread).
Once USPL is running install the Original HTC 1.56-ROM.
but how can i can i installl uspl if every time i get into bootloader it turns off after 10 seconds and then turns back on...
nobody else can help??????
Try to take out the battery for one minute or two, then see what happens when switching on.
If ok (usual start) make usual normal bootloader state, and see what is your SPL. Then decide which flash you have to do.

Flash back your original ROM, you don't need USPL to do this.
For your original ROM look at this link:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe
If you have problem flashing with you PC, you can try to flash from SD just extracting the files from the original ROM exe you downloaded on a temp folder (you can use winrar to do it), rename the "ruu_signed.nbh" to "BLACIMG.nbh", copy it to the root of your SD card, and flash the rom from the tri-color screen by pressing the power button.
Then, if everything is fine and your phone work again, you can think to flash a coocked ROM using USPL.
NOTE: you can read the wiki to learn something more, start here:

It mean your phone stay at bootloader? tri-color sreen with SPL you can see. It's ok. You should download USPL 2.5 and Rom ship 1.56.4xx. Fisrt you flash SPL by running blac_uspl , your SPL will be change to 1.15USPL, then you flash ship rom 1.56.4xxx, then everything will be ok. Give it a try
Note : It's more stable if you use Win XP.
from my experience with HTC Wizard and what you are describing it
sounds like
your battery is very close to dead
you need to find a way to recharge it
your phone is protecting it by shutting off
also i don't know how valid this is for the Blackstone
but the wizard would not charge in tri-color mode
(again for battery sake)
so make sure you have a nicely charged battery (buy a spare or a table charger)
and then try to flash something again
P.S. i don't know how one sentence cries for help peppered with EXCLAMATION points encourage anyone to help you

A clarification of the above post. When you have 3 colors (actually 4 with white color) and USB on the white band you have to start blac_uspl.exe. That will replace the original bootloader of your phone with cracked temporary bootloader named USPL. At this stage it shall no more give errors and you may flash it from the PC or from the memory card.
The suggestion for the battery also seems fair.

You have to copy the BLACIMG.nbh on the microSD using a USB card reader, not your phone. Then with the microSD on the phone, in the tri-color screen, it will automatically flash your ROM, if you don't have low battery of course.
If you want to use USPL to flash a coocked ROM (for your original official rom is not needed). Your phone have to stay at tri-color screen for more then 10s.
Perhaps your problem is a low battery as someone already suggested.
Do you have tried to remove battery and put it back, let the phone off and charge it with the wall charger?
lol i did have low battery... how unlucky am i... it would shut off every so often....
but i fixed!!!!
i took out the battery and synced it with the cable..... without a battery inside and it worked!!!
I love you guys!!!!
i am not lieing i was about to cry
wow

Dont stress so much next time. When your stressed out you dont think with a clear head. Glad it worked out for you.
The changing of ROM only seems can not brick your phone. Only unsuccessful changing of SPL can. Until SPL is OK you may ever flash new ROM.

my htc hd problem ... help...help

i have htc hd new buy,,problem is i downloads rom energy rom ... and my pda to slow... i waant change back rom original... but activesynic canot link my computer,,, before problem,, i can link my computer.. so anbody out side there
helpppppppppppp meee... plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
1st you need to say witch ROM you flash Exactly because they are many NRG Rom`s
2nd You say its a brand new Phone so i guess you was with Stock WM 6.1 so the question is do you read here the info and how you flash the Phone?
3rd You didnt tell what is the ROM WM 6.1 or 6.5 and alot more things..
If you want really someone to help you with this info that you provide to us, be sure no one can tell you anything.
Please post in Blackstone Forums!
Also you should read the Blackstone Wiki. It will help you to understand what to do.
if activesync no longer works for you, connect the phone to the computer with a cable (as you would normally) then on the phone choose disk drive mode.
then download the ROM you want to flash (stock roms are in the wiki). the file should be a .nbh file. rename it to BLACIMG.nbh if it isnt already and put it on the root (not in any folder) of your sd card. reboot your device and hold the volume down button. you should now be able to flash that ROM
problem solved...
...i think.

X1 hangs on tri-colour screen: tried to restore stock spl

Hi folks!
I hope that you can help me:
I have to restore the stock spl on my xperia in order to get the keyboard and a case crack repaired!
The initial situation was like this: X1 hard spled with custom fw.
I first downloaded a german vodafone rom and flashed this rom with the sd card method: Renamed the firmware to kovsimg.nbh, copied it to sd and flashed via hardspl. I rebooted the phone and the standard tom booted just fine.
Then I downloaded "ruusigned_072stockspl.zip" from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218
I extracted it, renamed it to kovsimg.nbh and flashed it... after the flashing process (the bar was full which means it flashed 100% to me) the phone showed "loading" for a while... after like 10mins I put out the battery.
The phone now starts into tricolour screen even if I dont press power+down.
its on stock SPL (shows SPL-0.72.0000) and it says "Continue to Upgreade ROM... please wait" but nothing happens..
what steps should I take from there on? I ve attached a screen which shows the tri colour screen.
Did I brick my X1?
Don't think you got much more options then try to reflash the spl. Maybe that will fix this. Do you still got usb access in this tri color mode?
nope, I dont get a usb connection
With spl you mean I should try to reflash hardspl?
If I have no hard spl, is it possible to flash a original rom with a sd card only?

thx for your advice I am sure that this will be the solution - stupid thing is: like the guy in the post you linked I have lost my micro sd to SD Adapter and therefore I cant write the stock firmware to my card -.- stupid thing...
In a hour I ll rush away, buy a adapter and then try to flash the stock rom but as it sounds from the thread the scenario is the same so I think it will work.
EDIT: This was the solution I downloaded the stock rom from the sticky thread in the Rom Section from XDA, extracted it to the sd root and renamed it kovsimg.nbh. Put sd card into X1, started X1 which automatically booted into tri colour screen - I only had to press power to porcede and everything is finde now after the flashing process! Stock rom and stock spl on my X1 thanx
simple!
i had the same problem...just rename the original rom.image to RUU_Signed.nbh then open hardspl (dnt push next)and replace the file push next ,update and it;s done!don't worry if u see the error at 0 % try to open the x1 after that and it would be fine

guys dev's experts plz help me to save my x1

i need ur help
my X1 is jammed in the startup
screen (Sonyericsson) logo and
it aint getting beyond it,..
i'v tried to flash any rom but its
not working.
i can enter the bootloader but
wont install any rom (jammed in
loading)
i referd to this post
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520377
i do have the same problem
i cannot hspl via pc it's stuck at 0%
neither using sd card it's stuck at loading... Like i said above
the bootscreen shows
KOVS110
SPL-0.78.0000
Microp1-787
Microp2-707
plz help me...
The problem started when 1st I hspl from 0.72 to 0.78
I successfully did it using x1_hspl.exe software
then again using kovskyadvancedruu.exe I performed task 29 after which the my X1 phone got stuck at sony logo:-(
then I started using seus and thought i'll get my rom back by updating it...
But it became worse than ever the seus changed my rom image from 0.78 to 0.78.0000:-(and it does not have option to reflash like seus of preveous version had i even tried to update using previous version but the software is not responding to sony server... Its because of outdated version
after that neither i'm able to downgrade my rom image nor able to install any new rom or rom image via pc or sd card please help me:-(
guyz plz plz help me out.... :-( I want my cell to start again please please please !!!
Hey, sometimes when I get my x10 jammed. I put phone to sony ericsson update service and update phone. Thats all what need to do. Try that
PC companion is crap it doesn't work like that.
the 0.78 h-spl is better than the 0.72, so that in itself shouldn't be a problem
as it says 0.7800 that means you are still on stock, h-spl from olinex didn't work (x1_hardspl.exe), otherwise the bootloader would display 0.78.OliNex
so in case you want to try flashing you can only use stock roms anyway
any image used on sdcard has to be renamed to Kovsimg.nbh before flashing, did you do that?
I hope you did backup your personals before trying to flash, because when all else fails than you should try to hard reset to get your device to boot again
the hint with again connecting to SEUS is also to be considered
Best
solved at last!!!!
yes i had renamed to Kovsimg.nbh before flashing...
sorry for late reply
at last soved
0.78.0000/0.780000 is a valid rom image
at first i thought it might have mixed up by 2 different rom images (0.72.0000 and 0.78) i know its stupid
here are the steps i did
1. connected x1 to usb and went to bootloader screen (by pressing on~off switch and vol down)
2. downloaded the stock rom from this link " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343192 " (thanx to ElectroDoc )
there are 2 parts linked by ElectroDoc
3. using KovskyAdvancedRUU.exe performed task 28
to detect rom create a folder and move both KovskyAdvancedRUU.exe and r3a rom in same folder
(NOTE the KovskyAdvancedRUU.exe only detects when placed in same page or folder)
huuu.... and finally it WORKED MY X1 STARTED!!!!
for further info if you have to install any custom rom
use X1_HardSPL.exe
downgrade your rom image to 0.72 and install your desired rom (i have not yet tried to install a custom rom using 0.78.0000 rom version)
and yes r3a rom is very stable and best battery performance
and at last
thanx to ElectroDoc and ultrashot for helping me especially ultrashot...
