Do you have an orange lense on your camera? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

And could anyone tell me, what is it for and can I remove it, if i do will it mess up the picture?
Regards

Try checking your white balance in the camera settings. Set it to Auto. Sunny setting is usually orange tinted while Incandescent setting is blue.
The orange tint you see on your lens is not a plastic layer. The lens is probably coated to prevent lens flare or other excessive lighting. If you look closely at the lens of point and shoot cameras, you'll also notice this tint (even in high-end cameras). I noticed that cheap or low end camera phones do not have this.
Hope this helps.

Have you replace your case recently? I do have this problem because the new case comes w/ a yellow tape inside. I remove the tape and everything back to normal.

camera problem

hello.
I've noticed that in all my pictures (and in the camera application) I have a black dot on the low right corner (photo attached).
Did any of you had similar problems? I think something is wrong with the camera.
I've also recently got a splodge from the images from my camera...though mine looks like a glass chip...
This may seem like a silly question, but have you removed the battery cover and taken a picture to see if it's a blemish on the cover? Also, if it's still there with the cover removed, try cleaning the actual lense (delicately) and see how it looks. It's worth a shot.
yes, i've tried those. I think is something with the sensor, or under the interior lens.
after further inspection, i can see a spot on the interior lens... but i can't clean it. I think it's a scratch (might have dropped it once).
can I do something to change/clean this lens?

Must be a big scratch for the spot to appear that large in the images...
I wonder if vaseline would help. I use a bit of the stuff for some scratches on my PC's LCD monitor. Works wonders. Not sure if it'll work with lens scratches though...

Considering the actual size of the lens, and the fact that its seems to be on the lens itself, I don't think it would take much to cause a dot of that size.
Mine also appears to be internal. Looks like a rather large dust particle is resting on the lens under the glass. Though oddly, the focus on the splodge always appears the same, regardless of the depth of focus in the shot...
Been itching for an upgrade, seems my phone realises this....

[Q] Bad Photo quality

Hi,
I read somewhere that photo quality is bad because of automatic white balance, but even when using manual white balance settings, the photo quality is like blured. Like there is fog between the camera and the subject.
Anyone have the same issues ? Or my camera is defective ?
How you corrected it ?
Sample picture attached.
Hmm, that's weird. Try to really clean the lens protector and make another picture, seems to me it's blurry because you're back cover is all mess )
Clean with coton and alcohol you think ?
I cleaned both sides of the battery cover, and directly on the camera lense, lots better quality ^^ And as long as you clean it with something that doesn't leave a thin film or the like, it's ok. Just watch the edges of the rubber/plastic stuff on the backside of the cover heh.

easiest, cheapest, and most common solution......
Lol ok ty
I use to have this condition also, not just with my o2X, same thing happen to my DHD, desire and HD2.
The key to the problem is your LED flash.
If your finger during hold you O2X is too close to the LED, the flash will reflact back from your finger and disturbance the picture quality, making its show like there is a fog in your picture. Check back your finger on how you hold your O2X.
My 2 cents.
I used a kind of alcohol yes, and a Q-tip(?) like the one in your picture.

I am not aware of anyone running into this issue before. If you set it on a rough surface or a surface with granules of sand, then that could definitely be the culprit. As far as replacing the lens goes, there is currently no way to get a hold of a replacement lens as far as I know.
If you mean the inside phone part then you'll have to replace the entire camera part. If you mean just the part that you can touch with your finger then you'll need to replace the back glass.
I'm having the same issue, there are some spots on top of the lenses on my phone that won't go away and *all* my photos are have the white color over exposed plus focusing is never sharp enough like other phones, I bought the phone the way it is now and I'm going to replace the back glass to see if it helps.

Spots on camera

Hi
I have a camera issue on my note 8. At night time I get these bright spots near any bright light source. I've attached a picture to show this. The spots move position on the screen as I move the phone around. Anyone else got this? My camera lens in clean.
I believe it is from the refraction of the light thru the glass over the lens. Happens all the time with a bright light source going through a filter or other glass materials.

Thanks but I've never seen this before. Can anyone else replicate this?
try wiping the camera
I tried wiping the lens - it is clean and clear.
Here is a video of the problem - the movement of the spots tells me this is not a hot pixel on the CCD but something else bobafx is likely right about refraction, but I have never had this issue with a camera before.

guys (and gals) this may be a common problem with this phone, see here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p99ZbHlKhLA
at various points (55s - 1:08s) you can see the dot I've talked about
and also see here:

im currently talking to samsung on chat about this...
I have the same issue with my note 8. So i checked other Samsung phones, 3 different galaxy s7, galaxy s7 edge and galaxy s8+. All of the phones have the exact same dots when in low light near a light source.

Is this issue on USA models only that use Sony sensors? Just took this video.

I'm still not seeing this on my cameras. I've been going out in front of my house at night and shooting inside my house and at the gas station and other spots during the night and I'm not seeing it.
Got the same problem, strangely enough I've never noticed something like this in my Note 5 so I think this is specific to either my unit (or a batch) or the entire Note 8 model.
Now I can't test my note 5's camera as the glass is cracked.
Attached are some sample photos from me - I must admit this is a pretty annoying issue.
I need to find someone at work with a Note 8 and do a direct comparison. If I succeed, I'll update you guys with my findings.
@msx999 Let me know the result of your contact with Samsung (if you ever have any) please.
Are you talking about the light from the street light reflecting from glass back of the phone and hitting the street? Maybe because back is like mirror and reflects light back, like a mirror? It would be easy fix, put the cover on, or tape something non reflective on the back as a temporary fix. Either that or I'm not seeing what you see.

Hi pete4k, I'm talking about the light reflections from the car's lights and the street lights as highlighted on the photos.
You can move the location of those reflections just by tilting the phone - it's happening within the lens or between the len's glass and the image sensor.

Hi Maciekd
I still think at least some of the pics show reflection of the street light off the back of the phone, acting like a mirror. The angle and shape of the the reflection seem to be right. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe it is something reflecting inside the cam, but I have not seen it on my pics to investigate more, however I did see the light reflections off the back, so was thinking maybe it's the same, but if it's not, it's not.
I think this is indeed reflection. But I don't think eveyone is having the same issue.
I think this might be an issue limited to my unit or maybe some batch.
Dot defect reflection problem on note 8
I have the same problem exactly.
Been replaced the camera part and the result is still the same but minimize the dot's size only. But still annoying to have this problem at the note 8 compare to its price.
Even before clicking take shoot or recording, I can see there are dots in display.
just wondering. Not all unit have this issue. I've seen a post that no dot defect at all from other forum.
So it maybe only some unit have the problem.
Will going back to Samsung service center and ask a replacement unit. See if approve or not.
The same problem, note 8, Europe, bright moving spots, never seen before on older models...
Same
Yes..Same thing for me. Only when you are shooting something that is directly flaring like lights or something blindly at night but once you out focus them. The camera is just fine
everytme i take a night time video with lights near by I get these tiny dots... look at link below for more.
https://youtu.be/iwINYSt__oE
guys is this a physical defect? I need to know asap..

Not perfect but very disappointing.

As much as I love my phone, I have spotted a few things that made me question the phone or Huawei.
First of all, I was playing with the three rear cameras and noticed that when I hovered my finger above the topmost camera (I think it's the 40mp one) or covered it, my finger didn't show up. Is that supposed to happen?
Secondly, when I take a picture in complete dark, there is always some noise present.
Thirdly, the screen has a gradient hue, darker on the left side as compared to the right. I have attached an image in this post. Please check for the gradient as I seem to see it on my screen. This is clearly obvious in a complete dark room.
Please check your phone and let me know if you're facing the same thing. Thank you.
The top one is used when zooming (5x) i think.
But funny enough the live view seems to not always use the same lens as the lens the photo is taken with.
If you zoom 5x and cover the top lens (or even when its dark ?) the live view switches to the main lens.
Sometime you can catch a glimp of your finger just before the switch happens.
And then when you take the zoomed in shot with the top lens covered you get a black picture, although the liveview shows an image.
I tested this in a fairly dim living room, so your mileage may vary if you test this in a bright office or outside in the sun.
For your noisy dark pictures. If you take a picture in a completely dark room (covered your screen ?) then the ISO is probably cranked up to the moon. So your going to see noise.
Maybe try in pro mode with a sane iso and exposure time (to avoid noise and hot pixels) and see how much noise you get then.
Yes, it seems so that when I zoom while covering the lens, the picture comes as the lens is covered. Thank you for clarifying that to me.
Can you please, if you don't mind, clarify the gradient hue of the screen? Or is it just mine? Thank you.

Others have answered your finger question. Not really sure what that point was about anyway?
Re: noise. What were you expecting? This isn't a full frame DSLR shooting raw. This is still a tiny sensor (just less tiny) with a highly compromised lens (miniaturisation comes at a cost). However, it is in my view head and shoulders above any other smartphone for delivering photos in poor / mixed light and at night when hand held - CM1 & 808 still beat it easily when on a tripod or similar.
Re: the screen. There will always be some gradient. If it's bad, I suggest you talk to Huawei or your provider / retailer's support and get a replacement. But since you say you only see it in a completely dark room, I can't imagine this is worthy of replacement.

It's my first oled phone so i don't have any reference on how good oled is supposed to look in very dark rooms.
If you can only see it on dim images in a dark room then your probaly noticing the "mura effect".
I cannot tell if your display is particulary bad or not. But i to can detect it looking at a uniform very dark gray backround in a very dark room. Under minimal light conditions i see no problems.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107228
Edit : i checked your blue image , but my eyes cannot really spot any meaningfull hue differences even in a darkened room.

The top lens is the tele lens. It only has 3x zoom. The 5x zoom is a hybrid zoom where it uses both lenses.
