Hey guys,
ive been unsatisfied with JPH so i moved to JPK and since then i felt in love with froyo all the nice features like scrolling through letters and playing with Flash.
However i missed the JPM since i was university concered and little bit neglected my luvly Galaxy. My question is ... since JPK worked so well for me (GPS was subjective fine ... speed with lagfix okay) is JP6 that better ? Does clockwork works fine on JP6?
thanks for convincing me ^^ now charging battery and then am gonna give SztupYs no_rfs a try.
Cheers
Well, since JP6 is the official release I guess you are better to upgrade. If you stay on JPK and get problems you will probably be on your own very quickly.

My wife recently got a Galaxy S (I9000) and is far far from happy with it....
We tried the OneClickLagFix (improved lag, but still slow accessing the database), then moved onto Voodoo (improves lag significantly).
After this the part that seemed to be slowing the phone down was TouchWiz, so we swapped for LauncherProPlus (big improvement). Anything "Saumsung'd" on the phone is slow (dialer, contacts app, system menus (eg reboot, silent).
My question is ... Is this acceptable to have a 1Ghz phone that is slow, and needs multiple fixes and replacements? I personally have the HTC Desire, although not perfect (small internal memory) it out performs the Galaxy S (stock).
Has anyone gone back to T-Mobile, Vodafone etc and asked for a replacement?
Tony
If it still slow it must be something wrong with it.
What firmware do you use?
My phone is fast and i have no lag.
I use jpk firmware and have the latest oclf.
My girlfriend will buy a sgs also.
She like it more then my iphone and hers phone got stole yesterday.

That is encouraging.. thanks
She is still on Stock 2.1, not ventured into the leaked ROMs yet.
Can I ask which Lag Fix you're using? My understanding is that the Voodoo lagfix cannot con-exist with Clockwork Recovery?
Cheers
I use ryanza oclf.
I use jpk firmware.
I did upgrading first from stock to jm1. Only that was an improvement.
Im waiting also for the real froyo, but jpk firmware working fine for me.
I do plan to use an other lagfix that is in development. I think that will be something sweat for this phone.

Hi I already hate my Samsung Galaxy S I9000, no matter what your guys do always become slow and slow, I have a iPhone 4 is nothing to compare.
I am thinking to buy a HTC.
The Questios is any one here try it to flash the FW for the TAB over Galaxy S? I am willing to try it.
There is any risk of full brick withour recover?
Any results???
It's not possible to simply flash the firmware from an entirely different device, sorry. It would take work to port it over, and if you don't know how, then that's not going to happen.
If you try the latest Froyo releases JPM/JPA/JP6 which run pretty well already, and once Voodoo for Froyo comes out very soon, I can't see how you are dissatisfied with the performance.
If you need something fast right now, throw on JM9 with Voodoo.
And while you may feel that the iPhone is smoother at times, that's simply because it's doing much less.
Actually I am running JP6 (Kies) with OCLF, but I will try ir JM9 + Voodoo as you mention.
Thanks....
Really I dont want a lot of app running and services in background I just want to switch from one to other fast without lag. I think this is going to be difficult with this device.
But thanks to every dev, here that work hard in order to make this device smooth.
I installed jp6 with oclf - OMG it was slow.
Voodoo + JJ1 is so much faster its not even funny.
You can either wait for Supercurio to finish off his Voodoo kernel for froyo, or you can try the new z4mod. But really, I'm running JPM with no lagfix, and while it's not super-speedy, it's certainly fairly quick in most tasks (NewsRob is borderline acceptable). It's definitely much faster than the older firmwares.
Hi all,
As with the topic above, anyone knows the real reason with the call back of the official JPM firmware( or JP6)?
Read up on some sources, some said that its causes unstability. However, so far it seems okay to me in terms of stability and usabilty. Running on Darky's Steel Edition Rom 3.0. Seems good.
Cheers.

Just take a quick look at the changelist from JJ1 (SC02) and JPK, JPM / JP6 and compare these. All of these builds are from the same tree!
And did you ever take a look @ your logs (being on "stock" JPM / JP6)?
Yes, the customized ROMS are really really good. But all of 'em still have some (mostly minor) issues. I think Sammy has got to fix all (or most) of them before
they finally want to release it.
Btw, do you remember the first 2.2 releases from HTC
The only question is: Which way does less overall damage?
I think the final release will be almost identical as JPM/JP6 but Samsung has to patch the Kies so that it won't brick SGS so easily.
My Froyo 2.2 is unstable!!!
I for one really can't wait for the next "official" fix
My cold boot up times are way slower than the JG5 firmware and the phone suffers from forced closes sometimes and lags like hell!
It's just so annoying knowing what the phone is capable of but not having the firmware to back it up.
I hope the official froyo 2.2 release fixes all the bugs!
Well mine run better then ever on the official jp6. Granted root and lagfix is still needed becouse of the lovely rfs...

Here's hoping that the delay means that they will upgrade to 2.3 rather than 2.2 that will save you samsung.

That would be one of the few things hey could do to justify the wait. Unfortunately I hear someone knocking on the door, it's reality.
That guy always ruins my dreams...
LOL - Very well said!

Hey guys. Recently, I've been wondering if I should update the firmware on my phone. I'm still running on JPO with Doc's ROM and the older version of optimized LP. Everything runs like a charm at the moment and I'm not sure whether I want to risk updating and having to go through redownloading ROMs, firmwares and such again. What do you think?
Well to be honest its a matter of opinion, if your perfectly happy with your current rom then you may aswell stay with it imo.

I guess the major thing I'm curious about is whether there are any major improvements in the newer versions. Like GPS improvements, lag reductions etc.

Hey mate, I'm on Doc's 6.2 and my GPS is screwed. I get a lock that's within 3100m (?!!) and doesn't get any better with waiting.
Im having the same thoughts... im still on stock JPA 2.2 i was wondering if i should do the reghack and get the 2.2.1
Is it worth if im happy with the current setup
-TB-
I'm on JL2 stock but rooted. I have great GPS reception. Last night it was 10 sats seen, 10 sats used and accuracy of 31.8 (feet about 10 meters). I get no lag and the phone runs great.
If you are happy with what you have, keep it. If not, try the JL2 (Bell) rom.
As far as "having to go through redownloading ROMs, firmwares and such again", just use Rom Manager to back-up your current rom. It will back-up everything including settings.

I'm on Darkyy's 7.6 Rom, with Speedmod K12F Kernal and the Stock JL2 Modem. Everything is great. GPS locks in seconds and is pinpoint accurate. Battary life is good. No lag. The phone is perfect.
Does anyone know if there is a voodoo lagfix for 2.3.4, without having to use a i9000 kernel? I'm really lovin GB I've got everything else running smooth, finally got the gps working right, but everywhere i look I can only find voodoo for i9000. I wish to remain stock and not flash any roms, i have seen some that have it i believe, but i'm looking for just the vlagfix on the regular captivate kernel.
Thank you in advance
Nop, not until Kernel source drops. Closest thing you will get is Cognition 5 V2. Its KF1 2.3.3 running on EXT4 (what Voodoo Lag fix does)But dev has kinda left it behind, and its less then done.
^ Beat me to it...

thanks for the quick response...yea i saw cog its what i came from actually , v2.5, yea i know i got lazy and fell way behind, but i dont feel like going thru all that stuff just for a rom, and also for 2.3.3. considering i finally got 2.3.4. runnin all my apps restored, and my gps fixed. I guess i gotta stay tuned.
If you are on KH3 its actually very responsive for rfs format. But ya I don't see samsung releasing GB till after the US variants of SGS II come out. If not longer =(
I just saw an advertisement on TV for it. Here's what they are advertising.
