Images on gallery displayed twice - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im using Doc's JPM/JP6 v5.1 ROM and I've experienced a bug on the gallery app ( twice ) that my images automatically double, but the actual files on the SD is correct, the only fix I found for this was to delete and recopy the files, anyone else had this bug before?

Gallery & Music issues on ICS

Tried several latest ICS roms so far:
- Ultimate ICS;
- Nexus Beam
- CM9 A17
with both CM9, Glados & Matrix Kernels...
Apart from WIFI issue (which is finally "solved" - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403801 ) there are some others, which made me switch back to Nexus Beam 3.0 (with franco's kernel 2.6.35.14)
Gallery is not showing my old pictures, only new ones...
Music is not showing my music albums fm SD card...
I've waited some 2 hours. Cleared application data. Wiped cache + reflashed each rom.
Nothing helped... Decided to stay with old patched GB kernel as it seemed to be welcomed by my phone.
Anyone knows solution to Gallery & Music problems?
UPDATE: need to wait some more time and photos and music will get available itself
I am also unable to view old photos from within the Gallery app, though the app can see any new pictures I've taken even though they physically reside in the same folder as the old ones...very strange. This problem only happened after wiping my device and doing a clean install. I had previously upgraded to ICS from Gingerbread and didn't experience the problem then, i.e. old pictures showed up fine within the Gallery. For the time being I'm using QuickPic to get around this, but it sure would be nice if Gallery worked the way it is supposed to.
Any thoughts/recommendations for addressing this problem?

Thanks for the tip, it doesn't solve my problem. I don't have a .nomedia file in my camera folder or any of its parent folders.

[Q] gallery shows empty

Hi all..I recently flashed XLA6 (russian) my original ROM was XKL3 using CWM and rooted.. After that i was experimenting with germay, again with Indian DDL5 and again XKL3 and finally settled with XLA6. After doing all these.. I noticed that my gallery shows empty even though i have images and videos in my built memory. Picture gallery shows only bluetooth recieved files not copied from PC files. What could be the reason?
Please apologize if this was discussed earlier. I couldn't find similar thread like this..oz column shows only five similar threads.

Option 1. Restart Device
Option 2. Copy all contents to PC and again copy it to Device
I tried restarting it.. May be i shud re transfer the files..
Rescan your media. That should do it. There is an app for that in the Market.

A tip is to use another gallery than the one provided with the Stock. Quick gallery on the market works very well and is immensely quicker especially if you have a lot of pictures. To increase your speed on the external SD-card (if you have one), you may try SD-Boost from the market.
Problem solved once re format the internal and copied the files again.. It seems after flasshing rom it didn't recognise the folder created by older rom.. Is that the fact?

Cm10 Message/notification tones gone? :S

Hi All,
I recently had to do a factory wipe of my phone and reinstalled my cm10 alpha ROM again.
But now, I have lost all my message tones and ringtones, like all off them. the only ones that I can select and use are
CyanTone
CyanMessage
I tried extracting the other files from the "cm-10-20120729-UNOFFICIAL-galaxysmtd.zip\system\media\audio\notifications" directory in the file and placing those into the notifications folder on my phone, but still nothing shows up when i go into the settings menu :S
Anyone have any idea's on what's happened or what can be done?
UPDATE:
I just flashed to the latest version of the alpha and everything was back in place
However once I opened Apollo, all my tones disappeared again :S
bump..
Hey
Have you tried coping it to the internal sd card??
Put notification tones in /Notification
and ringtones in a new folder (In Internal SD Card) as /Ringtones
then paste the files there and reboot...this could solve your issue..
Yeah already tried that. I think its an issue with the ROM itself. I'll live haha

I have factory reset the device 3 times deleted everything, flashed using ODIN but no avail. Any body has any solution for this?
I am using:
Stock ROM XXMEB5
Stock Kernel
Stock Recovery
EDIT: Finally Solved the Problem. The phone was not resetting properly, so for users facing this problem there are 2 possible solutions:
1. Flash stock rom, goto stock recovery and from there wipe data if CWM does not do it properly (In my case CWM did not do it properly)
2. The other solution, the info i figured out was that it had to do something with a folder in Android/Data directory. Try to delete folders one by one to see if this fixes the error
I recently updated OTA to 4.1.2 and have suddenly got this same problem today, im not technically that great so all i did was save the files i wanted to keep and did a factory reset but nothing has changed. I can open my pictures in Smart Gallery Lock Free but im also having the problem that nothing deteles properly, everything i delete re-appears when i re enter Smart Gallery
I have tried removing the files directly from "My Files" but it will only work on the extSdCard not sdcard0 its says deleted but doesnt go anywhere.
I have looked at point 2. but i dont know what i can delete without making things worse
Hope somebody can help
same problem in my SGS II, nothing woks, wipe data reset factory i have done every thing nothing works my only alternativ eis using quickpic app

1. Delete .thumbnails folder inside DCIM
2. Remove external.db
3. Reboot

It the app that scans for media and creates the thumbnails. Sorry, I don't have CM13 installed anymore, I think the app name is Media Server, you can check it using Link2SD.
I had the same folders as you, and it fixed the problem I had (lots of missing thumbnails). You may want to delete this too, it's the music album covers, not in the gallery:
/sdcard/Android/com.android.providers.media/
