Hi all!
I just got my S Galaxy S from the phone dealer who rooted my phone to the kernel 2.6.32.9 root SEI-28 #1.
I was trying to update the maps to the new v5.1.0 on the market now and it kept saying 'package was not signed correctly' since it couldn't install (but COULD download it). After some weak research I was under the impression i should use Root Manager to remove the Maps.apk file and com.google.android.apps.map.apk. Still i could not install the new maps.
(side note: i tried to backup with the root manager and apparently it did not work without me realising...bummer)
Later i find out i had the Brut Map v4.4 and tried installing that and it still does not work. Now i have no maps and cannot install either. A pretty unclean uninstall, i know, but can anyone help me resolve this problem??? Do i still need to remove some other files to uninstall it completely? i don't know much about using adb stuff though i'm happy to try anything at this point.
Thanks everyone!!
I can't get Brut_Mod Maps to install on any rom (except Cyanogen). I tried everything - adb push, deleting maps and street view and copying the brut_mod maps. What's the problem with that ?
Is my qestion too stupid to be answered ?
Nevermind. I installed a deodexed rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136449 and the copy via root explorer action worked fine. Thank you for your help.
I have a problem with the criskelo rom v79.

after the first reboot some apps are lost.
the phone says "this app is not installed" when i trie to launch it.

guys, i am using super ics in my i9023. but Cant install Google Map 6.0 in ICS. i have wiped data and uninstalled maps with titanium backup and then tried to install maps 6.0 but it says install failed. tried many times but same result. any idea what happened? cheers
This is the latest gapps.zip (I think) with latest maps and music, but doesn't have wallet.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47770734/gapps.zip
I use koush's gapps @ http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/gapps-ics-20111125-2.zip (includes google wallet)
1. Use Titanium backup and convert google maps to a user app (long press maps)
2. market doctor -> deselect all -> find google maps -> doctor that
3. uninstall google maps
4. download google maps
.... and it'll work.
Can't find market doctor on the market
When I try to update I just get an error
Edit I see its an option in titanium but I'm scared to delete because I'm thinking that error will pop back up has anyone done this with success
BEST DAMN PHONE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE BEST DAMN DEVELOPERS!

same here, exact issue
no good maps/gps and can't uninstall and reinstall(DL) from market
maybe a cache issue?
Use the following commands with adb installed...
adb remount
adb shell
su
rm /system/app/Maps.apk
pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps
reboot
The issue, I think, lies with ICS
No other roms have this issue for me
I changed to pico from google tts--no issues

in most ROMs the lib files needed for google tts are missing. Just add them and google tts will work.
tried it--didn't work

Anyone ever figure this out? I tried this method, but Maps doesnt show up in Market Doctor when you run it.
UPDATE: nevmind. I think you need to select "Detach from Market" as well, for it to show up in Market Doctor.
ALSO, this doesnt work either. I followed the instructions and it just reverts to the factory 5.11 maps, and then gives error when you update.
I followed the steps and got Maps 6.0.
But I didn't liked it much, force closes like mad, reverted back to 5.0.1 now
Hi,
I'm running Slim Bean 4.2.2 Rom and can't get Sygic GPS Navigation and Maps (Aura) to install properly on my I9000.
Starting from a fresh installation of the Rom, I download Sygic from the Play Store. The download and installation appears to be successful. On first run, I do not see any notification of the customary "Downloading resources..." shown when Sygic further downloads base maps and other files. Instead, I get a black screen for some seconds and then Sygic exits and then returns to the home screen. I have tried this multiple times, each time wiping my phone and factory resetting before reinstallating Sygic but I always get the same failure. For some reason, the Sygic folder is not created either on the internal or external SDcard during installation.
Sygic support suggested that my phone is too old to run the app, which is unlikely as my friends are using the same phone and running Sygic without any problem. They further suggested that the problem is related to the fact I am not running a stock Rom.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I think a very obvious clue is that something is preventing Sygic from creating the Sygic folder during installation.
Thanks.
