Replacement Housing Help - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I just got a Telus Milestone that is in need of a housing and the slide mechanism is in pretty bad shape.
What I would like to know is what parts are interchangeable between the Milestone and Droid.
Will a Verizon CDMA Droid housing/digitizer/lcd work on a GSM Milestone?
Does anyone have a source or suggestions as to where to get the parts? Complete replacement housing with slide mechanism?
Thanks

Don't own a milestone, so I can't say what is interchangeable, but I would assume the body components and sliding mechanism are the same. You can check your favorite auction website for replacement parts, or keep an eye out for donor non-working phones on said auction sites or local classified adds.

DINC Replacement Parts

Came across this looking for a camera for someone on here.. http://www.globaldirectparts.com/HTC-Droid-Incredible-Replace-Repair-Parts-s/6283.htm
On another note.. I found the front camera for the EVO(see pic). Now that would be a helluva mod for the DInc.. if there is a slot to plug that thing in and someone willing to drill a hole in their screen.
How about a digitizer with the HTC Logo rather than the Verizon one? (Also, see pic.. I'm starting to love this site.
Now if I could only get a digitizer with the Sprint logo for my Dinc.

You must've missed this under that picture:
Attention Customers, This is not compatable with the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible

I wonder why it isn't compatible...?
I would imagine its because Verizon doesnt endorse removing their name from your phone.. I cant see that there would be a difference in operation.

This isn't Verizon selling the parts? There must be some different between the two, or they probably wouldn't post the disclaimer.
The verizon one doesn't say you can't use with the htc branded phone. In fact the verizon one states that there is one also available without the verizon brand. I bet verizon complained so they added that to maker them happy
Sent from my Incredible using tapatalk.
So does anybody wanna split some parts? This site really stinks that they require x units per order. I wish they would just raise the price per unit a bit to cover overhead.
I'm interested in a HTC digitizer and some rear speakers (mines blown!)
I need a new camera bezel, mines dented and then I pealed it off and now the double sided tape hardly sticks. I wish i would have just left it alone.
Digitizer
If you look at the connectors for the digitizers you will notice that they are different. That is why the HTC branded one won't work with the Verizon branded phones.

[Q] Anyone have a non working Telus Milestone?

I have a Motorola Telus Milestone that I am using on AT&T in the USA. I believe the motherboard may have died on my phone and am looking to see about getting a replacement motherboard specific to Telus/AT&T if anyone has one they are looking to sell let me know. Thank you
Sir,
I'm not sure about you can find a new motherboard, it may cost similar prices with phone.
I have bought a rarely used Motorola Milestone for $300 on Ebay, I liked it too much but I have problem with the keyboard slider, it's no holding tight, shaking sometimes,
Do you think the sell the phone as parts ?
If yes, how much do you want for both keyboard slider mechanism and camera button (if it's still in golden color, mine came in white color :S )
According to the Motorola Canada website my phone is still covered under warranty for another 2 months. However it obviously does not mean that it will be repaired/replaced. I am still waiting to hear from Motorola if I should send my phone in or not. However if things do not go the way I am hoping. I would sell the device as is for parts only. I will leave a comment on this thread depending on either way whatever I hear from Motorola.
If I do end up selling the device it will be as a whole unit, not broken down. There is a website I found that has parts for the a lot of phones. Here it is:
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=milestone
I may buy whole unit if I can effort the price, please just let me know about it.
Thanks for the link, jgregoryj1
Edit : Do you know any website like that but selling single unit, too ?

Kit-bashing Milestone/Droid hardware

Howdy folks,
Just had a bit of an adventure with my milestone replacing the screen, unfortunately, I dropped it when putting it back together and accidently snapped the ribbon cable connecting the speaker and microphone to the mainboard/chassis.
Anyway, I just bought a faulty CDMA droid on ebay (won't power on), because I know the chassis itself (where the broken bit is), is the same.
I was thinking though, if it's just the mainboard on the droid that's fried, how would I go just replacing it with the one from my milestone? are there actually any hardware differences between the two apart from the modem/antenna being different?
Any responses would be appreciated,
Hobo
Should be the same I think...
You can find the exact comparison between the hardware of the Milestone and Droid on And-Developers.

[Q] Repair Parts for the Milestone

Hello, I just need your help guys. On my Milestone the On/Off Button is broken.
I don't want to get a new phone since I',m happy with my milestone.
At the moment i search a repair parts provider, but I don't find any.
Somebody know where to get repair parts for the milestone?
The screen, the case, the buttons and these small parts are the same in the Droid1 and you can find plenty of Droid 1 replacement parts on eBay.

You can find all of the replacement parts on eBay!
Anyway, you need a Torx 5 Screwdriver. Some deals give you everything on eBay!

[Q] Change Silver Phone Into Black Phone

I was wondering if it was possible to take a silver Verizon HTC One and change the body to black. I was thinking if I found a way to purchase the body/case of a black HTC One, took the silver body/casing off and changed it for the black body, I might be able to have a Black HTC One on Verizon.
Does anyone know if this idea would work? From what I understand Verizon is not going to offer a Black HTC One when the Verizon store opens in a few hours. This would mean I need a black body/case from a phone on another carrier, I am assuming that the dimensions of the Verizon/AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile HTC One's are all the same.

Good luck with that bro. You're gonna need it.
While its possible, you are seriously recommended not to tamper with the phone. Many people around here have destroyed their phones.
On the flipside, a few have reported it to be not that hard. I dunno.
There's some debate on hardware differences between devices from the various carriers (T-Mobile's has 1700MHz band, which the others lack and no one has been able to figure out how to activate it on non-TMO phones) but nothing that would affect the frame.
You can actually buy the housing fairly cheaply on eBay. Front and back housing runs about $40. Your main problem is going to be getting the phone open. HTC went out of their way to make it as difficult as possible to get into. There are no screws, the phone is held together by a very strong adhesive and some clips that aren't accessible from the outside. Opening it will also void your warranty.
This video will give you an idea of the level of work involved:

You can also take a look at the IFIXIT article. Google it for "HTC ONE IFIXIT TEARDOWN". I've tried to post the link, but i wasn't allowed to do that (10 posts limit)
You will need lucky and BALLS
edit: nevermind, didn't read closely enough.
