I have my htc hd7 for 4 days now and i had no problem with the phone so far except a few hours back, when i left my wifi on (i usually turn it off after using) while i continued with my work on my computer. Suddenly the phone vibrated and restarted itself in front of me, i picked up the phone and felt that the lower back of the phone was quite hot.. Turning off the wifi seems to have allowed the phone to cool and no random restarts thereafter.. Anyone encountered the same?
I used wifi for 4 hours (after that the batt was empty) on my hd7 and it was only a little warm and it didn't reset it self .
No such problem here
No problems here. I leave Wi-Fi on all the time when at home, for many hours sometimes, with no overheating issues or random resets.
Ok.. Must be something else that I did.. Anyway I noticed that the phone has notification LED light for missed called but not for unread text messages. Any1 knows how to enable it?
No problem here either. Use wifi as soon as I get it in range.
Mine does this to. It gets super hot at the bottom especially when wifi is on. Im guess that is where the CPU is or the WiFi chipset. About time to exchange.

I noticed this twice. I plugged it to an ac outlet and it began to sync with Zune on PC. I was adding a bunch of new playlists and after a while I caught it restarting. At first i was excited; i thought T-Mobile had sent out an update or something. picked up the phone to embrace the new goodies and then felt the warmth of the phone.
I turn off wifi now to prevent Zune sync unless I need it.

I don't know what is happening but the last 2 nights my Diamond turned itself off during the night.
The first night it was due to my diamond having a battery leak, my entire battery drained during the night so I couldn't turn it on until i charged it.
But last night was different it just turned itself off and this morning i needed to switch it on again, when i did it was fully charged :S
Are there more people experiencing this problem and if so, what is the last thing you do before laying it away for the night?
I usually kill all programs (with the default menu in the topright) and then run oxios closeapps.
I'm getting the same thing. I have a UK T-Mobile MDA Compact IV (HTC TD).
Last thing I do is close all progs and leave on the home screen plugged into the manufacturer supplied AC charger.
When I awake in the morning 5/10 times it's shut down, no idea why though!
Might be a heat cut out while charging thing?

I think your handsets are fautly. if you have warranty just send them for repair. and if you are withing the 28day limit then get a brand new replacement
dead as well
same over here Netherlands t mobile, phone runs for half an hour and then its dead , only to wake up after taking out the battery. I have already flashed the phone so , BeyBey phone???
mine is uk tmobile and have seen it just shut down without warning
i knew the battery was low though, it was also damn hot, switching back on whilst connected via usb would see it get a few seconds into booting before black screening on me again
cant decide if it needed more juice in the battery or cooling down before i would start properly
as i didnt get a low battery warning, which i know does work, i am suspecting over heating - it was serioulsly hot
Have you guys upgraded ROM and Radio?

Hey all.
Flashed my compact with the following
Olinex 1.40 Hard SPL
Shone on 1.4 WWE Rom
1.00.25.05 Radio
I also swapped battery with the wife's HTC Diamond for a few days then swapped back (may make not a drop of difference) but the closing down issue has not repeated itself at all.
Good luck & hope my information is useful

I've had my MDA C IV for a month now, it happened to me for about 3 nights in a row, a few weeks back. But not had the problem since. Not flashed the phone and only installed a few apps.
Somewhere here is allready a thread where many people are reporting reboot of the diamond over night while it is charging. They stated it happens only with device plugged in, so perhaps all posters in this thread have encountered the problem also with plugged in Diamond.
Because so many have this issue perhaps it is not a faulty device, but a faulty design of it. If only loaded my device once over night and did not payd attention to this, but I fear my device will do the same thing.
I haven't had this problem, but then I have never charged my phone overnight. Why do that? The phone can be recharged quite quickly. When i am at work, I simply connect the phone to my laptop USB. Syncing and charging at the same time. That's about it. Indeed I have never used my charger for the last 2 years with my Hermes either.
hi guys,
im having the same issues, maybe worse, im new so please be nice...
i came back to my phone and the screen was black, the only noticeable sign of life was the ''breathing''...
as i normally do i pressed the key to turn it on but this time it wouldnt turn on...it was as if the screen was frozen...after a while it came back on but than the phone was frozen...tried pressing more keys and than the screen went to a ''static'' like display (like what u get on a tv)
the phone then turned off for no apparent reason...after a few minutes of repeating this i decided to do a soft reset...
its back to normal...for now.....
the battery is full...
thoughts?
Thanks
Had a the same thing on my Touch Pro a couple of times. Sounds like a common fault.

Hey there.
I have my HTC S730 for nearly 2 months now.
I don't know why but my Wings plays a strange melody and then turns off.
Even if the battery is fully loaded! After it turned off it takes a long time before i can turn it on again. I can push the start button on the top of my smartphone but nothing happens.
I don't know what it is. I Hardresetet my device 3-4 times now but it's still not working correctly.
Can you please help me?
Did anyone recieve the same "error"?
I have the same error!
But no solution.
It happens sometimes, mosty not logical... I'll wait for a few weeks, if it keeps on i'll go back for warranty!
What are you running when the reboot occurs? Never looked but is there a way to schedule it to do such a thing?
Does it display anything on screen before it happens? You might check in the power options to see if its shutting down due to some setting...
When I have some time I will dig through mine and take a look.
Off the top of my head I would surmise that its either overheating and shutting off, an installed application is causing issues and it is turning off, a setting within the phone is causing it to turn off, or something is wrong with the device.
May be caused by overheating. I have no other applikation installed on my Device since i Hardreset it. It shows up the HTC logo when it shutsdown.
I dont run any applications at all. Sometimes i listen to music with the Music Player.
When i start my phone up again (after some waiting time) it shows me that my battery power is 0. After some time of waiting it shows me that my battery is nearly fully loaded.
It only happens 1 or 2 times per day.
But please help me
It's not overheating in my case.
I saw it happen last time (5 minutes ago), just before the HTC logo is saw a little cross trough the battery indicator. I suppose the battery is not good? After reboot the indicator shows a full battery??
I would give HTC a call about those batteries. I would think that they are bad, or the phone is having issues drawing power from them and so it shuts off.
If its overheating it should be VERY warm to the touch, I have gotten mine warm but never hot after some heavy use, but I just let it cool off afterwards and it was just fine.
Usually with low battery it will flash a warning on screen and make a noise indicating low battery, but if the battery suddenly is in zero the phone could automatically shut off. Does it power off quicker than a normal shut down sequence? I would have thought that the phone would just run until it's instantly cut off by a dead battery, but if its misreading it or reads it in the danger zone it could have an auto shut down.
Had the same thing with my wings/s730.
After hard resetting it it worked fine again.
I've had my Tilt for about a year now. I just had to replace a cracked screen about a week ago. It now randomly turns offs, usually when there is some sort of data connection like surfing the web or talking on the phone. It seems if I'm just messing around w/basic features on the phone it stays on just fine. The battery is at a good charge. I've noticed that when I have the phone plugged in it works fine, but as I said the battery is showing a charge of 50%+ when this happens. Anyone know what this could be? Thanks.
Hmmm,
My guess would be that you did not 'stick it together' correctly after changing the screen - seems like a hardware part is in contact with another where they shouldn't! When turning on your wifi or other hw modules, your device might experience a power leak or overload through that - can finally also be the screen. Was it an original HTC KAISER part?

I'm not sure on the part, I bought it new on ebay.
Same Here
This has been happening to my Tilt as well. While unplugged on a phone or internet connection it just shuts off. Sometimes it take several attempts to get it to boot again or I need to plug it in to get it to boot at all. I was wondering if it was a faulty battery but I haven't tried replacing it yet.

Dirty battery contacts, or contacts not making sufficient contact because they're too low, might cause that.
I had this problem two ways- WM 6.0 with spbshell would just lock up and turn off, could never figure out why. Removed spbshell and it was good.
Lately I had a problem where a 6-month old Seido extended battery was shorting itself out when I would grab the phone or twist it a certain way. Dropped old battery back in it, no issues.

This is exactly what mine does. The battery fits a little lose on the left side, but the contacts on the right side are touching and intact.
randomly turns off
im having the same problem. my phone just turns off when im on the phone or if im texting someone. It even turns off when i push my power save bottom on. I need help.
I have the same problem. What I've noticed is that it doesn't do it when it's plugged to the charger, but it turns off when it's running with the battery only.
My findings:
- Using it like a PDA no problems running on battery (no using any phone function)
- On a call, when it's running on the battery it turns off
- Using a Data conection or Wi-Fi when it's running on the battery it turns off
* On a call w/charger plugged in no problems
* Using Data or Wi-Fi w/charger plugged in no problems
I hope that's a battery related issue. I'm going to try to replace the battery and let's see if it fixes the problem.
Problem solved. New Battery
Tilt Battery
I'm having the exact same problem as jqman, I've had my Tytn II for more than a year now, and it has been great. For the past month it has started turning off randomly with no forewarning. I can charge it all day, the second I take it off external power and try to do anything from surfing the web to taking a call it just randomly shuts off. It may be a battery problem, because it sometimes shows low battery power immediately after disconnecting from the charger, but there was nothing that led up to this. The battery was fine one day, and then the next completely gone. Also, there is no oxidation on the battery contacts, and it seems in tightly (not loose at all). The back cover is also very steady, as I've had a plastic casing for the past year, and only recently took it off because of this problem.
I find it hard to be believe that it's a software or hardware problem - just suddenly after a year. I hard reset the phone and updated the ROM and it's still happening.
Any ideas/suggestions? Should I buy a new battery (is one year a al battery life)? Are generic batteries as good as the originals or should I only get the original Dynapack?
Guys, I have a problem with my htc diamond.
I purchased it used, and although the seller showed it to me working it started to go all funky on my an hour later. The problem I am seeing is this:
Sometimes the phone does not turn on, I would have to take out the battery and placed it back in, sometimes a few times before i can get it to turn on. When it does turn on, it doesnt last long, sometimes 2mins sometimes 5-10mins. The battery shows 50% charge. THis thing does not want to stay on for more than 30mins! I can not change this thing either, sometimes it charges and than something when i plug it in nothing happens. As well if the phone is one it gets pretty warm for a cell phone. I have never held a phone that got warmed liek this while not talking on it.
Does anyone thing this cell is cooked and i got a lemon or do you think it is a battery issue?
Thanks for any advice.
Don't know for sure, but sounds like it can be a battery issue.
And the Diamond DOES get pretty warm if you have wifi / GPS / data turned on for a while.
Thanks for the reply.
Do you know where I can get a 2.03 diamond gsm rom?
I tried 2 rapid share links and after installing i get an error saying the rom is corrupted...
Rapidshare doesnt seem to work for me too well and i can't download from HTC
Hey Guys,
Got my brand new GS5 on Tuesday this week but I've run into a pretty major data connection issue and I'm unable to identify a root cause for it.
Essentially, when I leave my phone on overnight I wake up with no data connection. The wifi is disconnected, and even though my phone shows it is picking up the network, I can't load any sites or do anything using LTE. Additionally, the wifi isn't only disconnected, the wifi function is literally turned off. When I try to toggle wifi back on, the toggle goes a light shade of green, like it's stuck trying to turn back on, and never turns on.
Eventually I have to restart my phone and it works just fine again. This has happened on 2 of 3 mornings since I've purchased the phone and only seems to happen after extended down time for the phone. I'm thinking of exchanging the phone (this would be my 3rd GS5 as the first one didn't recognize any headphones.)
Any ideas? Anyone else seen this?
Thanks!
