Right, firstly this is my first post, so please bare with me.
I have a (UK) Galaxy S that WAS running FROYO 2.2. I recently rooted the phone for various reasons only to find out that some features would not work. I then un-rooted the phone to return back to the standard running 2.2.
During the un-rooting process the phone crashed, and subsiquently would not reboot. I got round this by recovering it using ODIN Ver3.0......But its restored the phone to 2.1, Build Number ECLAIR.XWJMB, Kernel 2.6.29 rootSE-S603 #2, Baseband version I9000XXJM4.
Ive tried to update the system using Kies but it says that it isnt able to update and trying to update using ODIN didnt work. Can i get my phone back to running FROYO 2.2 that i loved so much?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks Rob
PITS
I believe this thing happened to me also. I resolved it by checking if the .PIT as per this table http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm is compatible with the firmware i wanted to patch on my phone.
Hopefully it will solve your troubles too
Hello all,
My phone is an SC-02b (Japanese Docomo version of the I9000)
First off a little history...
I originally purchased the phone here in Tokyo and it was Froyo 2.2.1 build. I used superoneclick root from here on XDA to root the phone and everything worked great
I wanted to try out Darkys Rom so I flashed it with ODIN. Everything was ok with the new Rom except there was no internet connection at all. I did a bit of checking and found out that the Modems are different on my SC-02B the other I9000 versions.
In order to change the Modem I tried flashing Darkys again with the original stock modem (found it here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11614716) This resulted in Odin crashing and I had no choice but to unplug the phone from Odin in the middle of the process.
Stupidly I did not make a backup of my original phone so I used the original firmware above and flashed it back, now my phone is Froyo 2.2
Everything works ok but when I enter recovery mode I get the following error...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
(No such file or directory)
E:install_applications_for_customer: Can't mount H
IDDENSDCARD
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy application failed.
I used Samsung KIES to upgrade the phone to Froyo 2.2.1 but now Superoneclickroot doesn't work anymore, the program simply stops responding at waiting for device (tried all the fixes in the forum threads and in recovery but nothing works so I'm assuming it is because of the error above)
For now I simply went back to the original Froyo 2.2 and rooted with Z4 Root but I would really like to fix the problem and be able to have a rooted phone with Froyo 2.2.1
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Bump... hopefully someone knows how to fix this?
The SC-02B doesn't seem to like custom kernels and roms
I rooted mine on 2.2.1 with superoneclick. My only issue was my AV software was stripping parts of the app so it would not work. I had to disable my AV software and then download and run it. After that it ran perfect.
Thanks very much for the reply.
Thankfully the issue has been resolved... it seems as though when I flashed the initial Rom it screwed up the drives for my phone so I had to go into device manager, uninstall everything and then install the correct drives manually.

I notice your post ends saying its unstable?
I made a few calls last night and i found it very weird and unstable during calls

Did you experience similar?

Can or do I need to run lag fix on a Rogers Captivate running the stock Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROM? Apparently the phone is running the RFS file system. I tried Ryanza's OCLF but the menu for the fix is unavailable to me. There's mention of the Voodoo fix but I can't seem to find it and finally....there is a menu in DarkyOTA that mentions the lagfix but I don't want to brick my phone unecessarily. Other searches only turn up months or years old references. Can someone clarify this for me please.
Hi, I encountered a problem while rolling back from android 4.0 (unofficial) to honeycomb. I tried several roms and recovery files and everything seemed to be fine. After the flashing process, when I boot my device it asks me for a password. I have never actually used any passwords. Can you please tell me what this problem is about?

you will need to NVflash to stock 2.2 then flash a 3.2 recovery and then flash the 3.2 update.pkg (if using official) otherwise flash a CWM and honeystreak
download
where can I download original 2.2 rom for EU WIFI only? all links don't seem to work :/
