[Q] Setting phone back to unactivated - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to unactivate a phone so it will try to activate itself whenever it is first turned on again? ( I got an evo and want to unactivate this one so I can give away/sell it)

Sprint should automatically deactivate it
Sent from my hero running froyo... take that Sprint!

It wasnt a sprint phone, but what i mean is when you have an htc phone that hasnt been activated, whenever you boot into a rom, it tries to activate itself.
it wont do that if it has something set telling it it has been or is activated.

Oh, well that is the way I think it is normally done.... wouldn't the person you'd be selling the phone to want that activation ability? If you already have the line occupied by your evo, the activation should fail

How do i Disable emergency dial SIM lock

Ok guys, sorry if this is a newb question but i did allot of research before posting, if anyone has links that are know to work that will help.
Ive rooted a friends phone and put JacxHeroski on it, i found a few tip threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316&page=6 and this actually worked till i rebooted, now i get the (no sim card) warning and a emergency dialer so i cant access the home/touchflo screen.
My friend doesn't have a sim or data plan but just got a phone. I dont need to run it with another carriers sim, just no sim at all. Thanks for any help guys
I think you need a sim to get past setup, errrr maybe not though cuz hero roms shouldn't "require" it. Did it work fine when it was on the stock rom w/ no sim?

hero is goting to the no sim screen and onlt letting me access the dial pad for 911. i didnt do a account setup, but at first i got past it by issuing the recommended sqlite command and rebooting, but now its doing it again
JACxHero worked for me without a SIM card. I suggest wiping/reflashing.
Are you sure it's not just the normal lock screen? The lock screen for Hero with SenseUI is quite a bit different, and I know it'll show an error saying no SIM card, but if you hit menu or slide the window down it'll go away.
Just press the home button when that screen comes up. It's kinda annoying that you have to press home after pressing power ot wake up the phone. Why doesn't yout friend just get a pay as you go tmo SIM, and not use it? Won't cost you anything...
Is there anyway to disable the emergency dial capability. I am using my old G1 as a media pc remote control/vnc client/mp3 player/ web browser/ toy etc..... and i dont want my daughter to accidentally initiate an emergency call, or myself for that matter. is there something i could disable, or an app that would do this?
Thanks

Activating Android flashed phone - still have to go back to Windows, right?

I checked the FAQ and did not see anything...
I am getting bored with my Moment, last week I flashed 2.2 on the Vogue just to see what it is like. Glad to see you guys are still developing on it! We don't even have 2.2 yet, just the FroYo JIT.
If I remember correctly you have to flash Windows Mobile back on the Vogue before you can activate it, right?
yes that is correct. And how are you getting board with your moment.Just wondering cuz thats a phone i really want

I don't know how sprint does it, but this has been my experience on verizon:
I have a touch and a touch pro. I switch back and forth maybe twice a week via the website and never bother dialing activation. my guess is: the first time your activate a phone on your number, you have to call activation to get the akey sorted out. after that, the akey should never change, so you can switch back and forth between those two devices without having to call activation just by switching your esn with the carrier.
again, i'm on verizon, and this could definitely be carrier specific, but it's painless to test for yourself.
Sprint is different after being activated the phone dials #777 then that starts the provisioning I know dzo had some script that could be used for activation but I don't know what became of it

I am a ROM flashing junkie!
SDX has been keeping me busy with ROMs for the Moment, but I remember the initial excitement with putting Android on a phone that was never meant to go further than Windows Mobile 6.1. Good times.

a script to activate would be awesome.
so is this possible: set up the sprint touch with android the way i want it (phone, internet and everything working), then change the phone out and put my wife's account on that touch android phone. or would i have to go back to winmo before putting wife's phone number/account on it?

i was able to activate my phone from myns warm donut using *228 option 1 on verizon after a whole mess of flashing to get my gps to work. i activated my old phone during the whole process so i wouldnt miss any calls. i ended up with nfs fan 6.5 and i couldnt activate my phone, so i tried it on warm donut from my sd card for the heck of it and it worked. not sure if its rom specific or what not but that worked for me...hope that helps

[Q] how do I reverse an unlocked phone? PLZ HELP ME

Okay so i brought an htc hero from a friend and i proceeded to the sprint store to get it activated. to my surprise they couldnt do it because after activation the hero wouldnt have a signal at all. so they were going to order another antenna for the phone. which should be here tomorrow but i dont think its the atenna anyway. but after talking to my friend he says that he had rooted/flashed the phone. when i was in class without signal still to the phone i got on the internet via wi-fi and noticed on the facebook page that my phone was picking up that it was a verizon droid which it isnt. now can this be causing my phone to not connect to the network or not. and i talked to a person from sprint over the phone for over an hour and he said that my esn number on the back of the battery doesnt match the one that is supposed to be connected to the phone. plz someone help me im stuck and dont know where to go from here. Thank You in advance

[Q] Can't pair media link!

So when you get to the part to enter a pin... a mobile hotspot popup shows telling to contact att... and closes the process.
Has any one been able to connect to it?
...and remember, dont just say yes. explain how you did it.

I am having this same issue. I have spammed the connect button and gotten it to work, but that's all. I don't know if disabling the tethering guard would work or not, but that would require root. I just got the phone yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to root it yet.
ok just got off the phone, 70 min later, and she told me that they submited a case order that will "put their top scientists on it". (my words not theirs lol)
i will be contacted within 48 hours with an update, she said.

When you do the three finger swipe or click on the notification, it will take you to the media output menu, I have gotten it to connect by clicking clicking on the panel that says media link device. Normally, when it tries to connect, I get the message that says I need to contact AT&T to allow mobile hotspots, but sometimes after I click cancel and immediately try to reconnect, I am able to bypass the message and it connects. This is rare, so no, I would not say that it is working. I tried configuring the media link with my mobile data turned off, but for some reason, it appears like it is required.

ya I've gotten it to connect and stay connected by turning off wifi and mobile then toggling wifi back on then quickly trying to connect... but cant connect to internet without the hotspot popping up and killing it.

Off topic but i hope you at least grabbed your unlock token just in case they block the ONE...
Any new news on this? I had the Media link since Day 1 and it's used primarily as paper weight... Folks should start receiving their back ordered media link and will be suprised that it does not work.. I hope a work around is around the corner

[Q] HELP Phone network unlocked but phone not activated.

Hii
Can somebody please help.
So I purchased a HTC one M7 from ebay. Turns out its not a UK version as expected although phone is unlocked I think as I can make phone calls on tmobile and it works on gsm. However I cannot update phone as I think to do this the phone needs activating as its a sprint phone originally however obviously in uk with no sprint sim I cannot activate. At least I think the phone needs to be activated to update not sure if there are anyother restrictions as update option not available like other htc one m7s . Anyway to activate it?

updates depend on your carrier, if the phone makes calls it's activated

I don't understand how it can still be activated as shown in the image it still says "Activate this device" meaning I still cannot update my phone software.

Okay thanks, here is new one
You won't be able to update with OTA as those would be sent from sprint. You will have to do it manually. It wants activating on the primary service which is CDMA and not GSM. Nothing you can do about.
