[Q] Media Panel Calls my contacts !!!! - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Experts,
I have a strange porblem with my X1. Whenever I use the media panel to listen to music (using my headset provided with the set)..after a few mins, the last number either dialled, received or missed, starts getting dialled automatically !!!
I tried by clearing my call list ,and using the media panel, after a few mins, it still beeps (maybe trying to find the numbers in the call list) but finds no number to call so the music continues.
Soft Reset, Hard Reset, Reinstalling the original firmware, nothing worked !!
and also, when calling using the headset , the line gets disconnected after a 2 or 3 minutes !!!
please help

Nobody seems to know '!!!

Hmm, the Media Panel is a beta? It came preinstalled with every new Xperia so it is definitely no beta.
On several occasions my Xperia dialed numers in my address book too and at first I also thought that this behaviour is somehow related to the Media Xperience Panel. But then I found out that it always dialed the last number I had called. I did some thinking and came to the result that the reason for this behaviour hast to be the button on the microphone of the headset. Since then I have paid attention not to touch it anymore and so far my phone has not called anymore contacts. I am almost certain touching the button on the microphone of the headset accidentially started those calls.

I Need Help With MY HTC TYTN a2dp/phone ringer

On my HTC TyTn when I use my motorola ht820 they work great for music and phone calles but when I receive a call while using them my tytn wont ring out the loudspeaker of the phone it just rings through the motorola head set, how can I change this so the phone knows to route the ringtone to the phone and the headset? I have all through the reg to find something.
I use same headset - but I have trouble - after a call - music don't play again!
do u have same problem? or managed to solve it?
and what patch for BT stack do you use?
Maybe My rom is newer but I have no problems stright out the box it worked fine I only had my tytn for a week but I do no that the wizzard suffers from that problem try making a call and when you hang up just wait a while to see if the music will automatic start, I know my moms wizzard was doing that but I just watied to see if it would go back to the music and it did, I think that it gits confused if you press the play button, but the tytn dosent do that at all it just back to music after a sec

ringer disappeared

All,
Not sure what happened, but all of a sudden when I get an incoming call there is no volume on the ringer. If I switch to vibrate it will vibrate when a call comes in. I went to Settings-Notifications and confirmed there is a ring tone selected and I can play a test of it. Is there some other hidden setting I am missing? FWIW I am also running Goodlink 4.9 although it hasn't in the past caused any problems. Thanks.
I have also got this problem. Seems very weird. I originally thought it was because the dir of the ringtone file had changed - which it had. But i re-assigned the ringtone to a default tone and still it does not work.
Must be a registry thing - but where to look?
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Yep I also have this problem. Did you guys figure it out in the end?
I've had the phone replaced but it ended up doing the same thing.
Upgraded BA WM2003 to WM5 and Speaker Out Ended.
I upgraded my Blue Angel device from Windows 2003 to Windows Mobile 5 and then I had no Volume on my device. My phone still works but I have to have headset paired up or directly connected to be able to use it since the speaker function is non-existent.
Please note this is for all applications not only the phone, so I have no reminders or anything that used to use the built in speaker.
Any ideas???
Recently I also just lost my Connection Settings..?
I can't figure that out since I haven't done anything to it recently to lose these settings, no I can’t connect to the Internet or even create a new connetion.
I have tried hard resting as well as soft resting to a point when everything worked, however this still doesn't fix the Connection Settings or the Volume. I think the Volume is directly related to the upgrade, so I might upgrade the ROM again to see if that fixes it.
Any other ideas.....?

When you tap the volume icon on the taskbar, do you see both sliders set to high?
Hi
I have exactly the same problem since several weeks. The TyTN II has been 3 times sent to the repair centre and the problem still exists! The device is completely useless if it's not playing the ringtones.
Hi all
It's very likely that's because you all have installed an external MP3 player (like Pocket Music). When you did so, the app registered .mp3 extensions as a PocketMusic extension.
When you receive a call, WM6 tries to open PocketMusic (or so) to play the ringtone, but can't because of compatibility reasons.
To have your ringtones back, you either uninstall your MP3 player, or unregister .mp3 extensions (to do that in PocketMusic, go in Menu -> Options -> file types and unselect .mp3).

Fixing Ringtones
I had this problem and worked out how to fix it.
Look at the following Reg Key (change midifile to mp3file for mp3 issues)
Delete any EventSoundHandlers already in place and add this Key.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandlers\{245F94CF-DD9C-46F9-B4C8-D2B14A877893}]
@="XME EventSound Player"
Problem fixed.

"Device Not Ready" in WMP when call comes in..

I get the "Device Not Ready" popup in Media Player when a call comes in and switches over to my BT headset. It is frustrating to constantly have to clear the popup and try to yet again seek to where the hell I was on a podcast when the call came in! Is there a fix for this or is it just a "feature" of WMP and/or WinMo 6.1? I am hoping someone has a magic reg setting to make WMP behave on audio transfers to and from BT.
I have MSVC working fine via my Plantronics Voyager 510 and just want my music or podcast to pause when a call comes in then switch to my BT for the call duration then resume playing via speaker after the call is done.. is this asking too much?
This happens with every ROM I've flashed.. (although I only have flashed Dutty's last 4 releases). So, I am thinking others have it happen and live with it or I am just not tweaking my tilt properly. And, yes, I do a hard reset after every flash.. and everything else works fine.
I've searched but can't find if there is a solution to this. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks..
Hmm.. since no takers.. can u tell me if it happens to u?
With no replies on my post.. can anyone just confirm that this happens to them as well? I would think at least some of the xda peeps would have the phone playing a tune or podcast between calls. Does your phone switch audio without the "Device is not ready" error?
Just trying to see if it's only me...
Thanks.
I listen to MP3s (not WMP but Pocket Player or S2P) all the time while my phone is connected to my car's bluetooth handsfree system. I have never once observed a "device not ready" error pop-up when a phone call arrives. The music pauses and the handsfree takes over and starts ringing.
Might want to look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2083364 as it seems that some people are seeing the same problem as you.
Rumball,
Thanks for your post. I guess it might be my bluetooth giving me the problem then. I've been needing a reason to buy a new z9.. so hopefully it will behave better since it's BT 2.0.
Thanks again for letting me know it works the way I imagined it should!

ringtone problem

How come my ringtone on my tilt only plays for one sec and then stops. I cut it with audio manager but others do the same. Its on ring and vibe
can u give use more info like rom d wht type of mp3 ur using? there are lot of things that might be the issue. how long hs it ben doing this, is it just with ur cut mp3's. info we need info
Even I am facing a ringtone problem on my HTC touch. I am unable to make .mp3 files to work as ringtones.
try changing to Ring only mode.
I am having this same problem!! No matter what ringer is assigned, when I receive a call it plays for .5-1 second and stops. The vibrate works perfectly though.
My Tilt is using the April 29th version of Dutty's rom.
Has anyone found a solution?
i think i know why it happens, when i got a call from a private number that microsoft voice thing starts to say the number and caller, but because its private there was a big gap. I dont know how to turn off the speech for the caller but i think that should fix it
That's exactly what it is!!! if you disable "voice command" under the settings tab, the problem is fixed

Vibration alert doesn't stop and audio breaks after a2dp.

Just as the title states... ie: I get an sms or email alert and the vibe just keeps on going until I goto volume silence then I can reactivate the volume.
I use ring and vibrate together for all alerts.
Anyone else have feed back with this or a similar problem?
*edit*
So I have done some testing and would like if someone else who uses a bluetooth headset to listen to music could try using BT a few times turning it off and on (when on use the htc media player) and see if after receiving a text message or email if your audio fires properly and your vibe stops. I have not used the BT all day today and the vibe/ring has performed perfectly. Basically after using BT a soft reset is in order.
What apps are you using?
Are you using any of the phone profile software such as SPB Phone Suite, Phone Weaver, Phone Alarm or the like? I had this issue occur when using Phone Suite and it was resolved when i de-installed the software.
I had same problem. I got mail and the vibration didn't stop. I don't use any profile manager. But I had same problem with Cruise with Wm6.1.
No profile managers at all. I have had this happen once before with an asus p527.
I have since done a hard reset on my diamond, we'll see how it goes. I did the reset because initially I've done alot of playing around testing apps and hacks to see what works best, I have re installed the apps I know work and have done. very little tweaking... Fingers crossed.
@thebiker
Do you use Bluetooth Audio for music or voice calls?
I think I have narrowed the problem down to this for myself.
I use my jabra 320 to listen to music on my way to work, after disconnecting the problems begin, vibrate doesn't want to stop and the ring doesn't want to work. A quick soft reset and everything appears to be good until I use my BT Headset again. Are you able to see a similar trend as I am? As I mentioned already I had this issue with my Asus so maybe there is a problem in general with Microsoft's BT Stack when using it with a2dp and in general derails audio on the system. My thinking is the audio is actually what is stopping on me so the Vib doesn't have the audio to tell it when to stop.
Thoughts on this matter anyone?
Bump... added some info to the first post and modified topic slightly, to more acurately describe my newer findings.
If someone using BT can try what is in the first post... thank you.
I have the Jabra BT620s headset and have the same problem. I can listen music and when a call comes in I can answer it and people hear me.
When I disconnect the headset i don't get any sound. Need to do a soft reset to get sound back on my phone. So no rings or sounds untill a soft reset is performed.
Stupid bluetooth... Anyone with a fix?
I can't find anyway other then soft reset. If you look at the volume after disconnecting a headset it sets the volume to 0.
I also have this issue on a tilt running winmo 6.1 and Microsoft BT Stack. So I believe it is a MS Operating/BT Stack issue.
What rom are u guys using? i'll try to have a look and experiment with the 1.37 rom
Shipped ROM: 1.34.831.1 WWE
Date: 5/25/08
WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19588 (Build 19588.1.1.4)
Radio: 0.93.25.NS16
Protocol version: 52.24.25.08H
any news on this ?
I encounter this problem when receiving voice calls. No sound and neverending vibrate. Also, on several occasions the sound disappeared during the conversation. Only a soft reset could bring it back. The volume showed just good values, so it wasn't a spontanious mute.
I don't use a BT headset, never did. In fact BT isn't enabled at all. I did change the ringtype to ring and vibrate, perhaps thats the trigger. I changed back to default ringtone setting, lets see what happens.
I hope this will be solved quickly, it makes my Diamond a bit unusable as a phone...

Interesting results... I can so far state that so long as I reset after using BT Headset I don't experience this problem. There maybe more pointing to a bad audio driver in general that BT causes to crash immediately and potentially regular use like you have may also cause it to go loopy, might be a specific app and the way it interfaces with the audio api.

The only app I installed afterward is TomTom Nav6. But I remember the problem happend before installing this app as well. I made several hard resets but no change. Perhaps I try once more, don't change any setting and keep it clean for some days.
The same problem here with ROM ITA.

Nop - got the problem before installing any additional software.
I confirm that I also have the problem after using my BT stereo headset.
SR solves the problem ... until I use my BT headset again

So you have no ringtone anymore ? And after a soft reset ?
no ringtone no sms tone, soft reset, press volume key, resolves it.
