[Q] Dual Nam on Sprint HTC Hero - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I was very sure that before i upgraded my HTC Hero, i can see the dual nam menu from the "Setting". But after i upgraded to 2.27 firmware, i no longer have that menu. Does anyone know how to get "dual nam" appear again?
Regards,
Aditya

My guess is you need to run a RUU of the older sprint software. Search around all build RUU's are posted.

i searched around the web for how to downgrade to 1.29, but no luck. the closest i can get is downgrading to 1.5. unfortunately, a website that generates the required mtd0.img was down, so i couldn't downgrade to 1.5. any idea?

Wow. I have no idea what that is. Can you inform me of its function?

what i mean by dual nam function is the ability of a cdma phone to store 2 number within a single phone. it can be from the same or other carrier. you can switch your number without having your phone reconfigured by your carrier. you can easily switch your number from your phone menu.
in US, i almost never consider this function, as cdma carrier in US, AFAIK, prohibit this. but since i'm overseas, i can inject another carrier in the same phone without purging my sprint number.

[Q] MVNO hero issue

I have a Hero which is on an MNVO of sprint. I need the stock HTC (not sprint) rom to have RMA work done. Unfortunately I cannot obtain the stock image now.
I have tried the RUU from HTC but it does not work giving me the invalid ID error.
Can anyone lend a hand?
MVNO? What's that?
Mobile Virtual Network Operator... basically a wholesale user of the sprint network. Are able to brand own devices while being able to use the sprint network...
It appears that the issue with my phone is the "blown" speaker variety. I am going to try blowing air into it to see if it is just dust..
Basically what I need is a stock version of sense UI without the sprint bloatware..

[Q] Unlocking questions for Touch Diamond

Hi, I'm new here. *waves*
I'm trying to unlock my HTC Touch Diamond on Bell Mobility in Canada and I've run into a couple questions.
1. How do I tell if my phone is CDMA or GSM?
I know for a FACT it doesn't have a sim card (which I believe is the defining factor between the two)... but for some reason the search results I've been getting just fail to clarify whether or not Bell Canada is GSM or CDMA. I believe they went GSM in 2010 but since my phone is pre-2010 I'm not entirely sure.
2. Is my phone even really a Diamond?
For a while I was wondering if my phone was actually a victor p3702, (I know... same $#!+ different pile, right?) but in the images I got from Google I became VERY confused as my phone has a 3.2mp camera and the flat backing, and has that subtle slight curve to the bottom of the screen and says Touch Diamond when I boot it up. All the images I can find are of phones with a 3.1mp camera.
3. Do I even need to do this?
All I want to do is get custom ROMS for the phone. I heard in my internet travels that for a CDMA phone you don't need to unlock for new ROMs... just roaming and all that jazz.
4. WTF!?
Apparently the only unlocker for CDMA diamonds in existance is on the PPCGeeks site, but it gives me a damn 502 every time I go to check it out. Are there any others out there?

[Q] HTC ONE UK EE to UK/EU Model

All,
I've been out of the Android loop for some time, I bought a HTC One M7 from T-Mobile UK (EE), it's a non contract/non payg model just the handset, I decided to switch providers and unlocked the phone with no issues.
However T-Mobile have modified the device somehow and locked the APN/MMS settings, I have put new ones in but it defaults to the T-Mobile (EE) settings, as I am using a Virgin sim card it sort of half works as it's on the same network. But I do not get MMS etc.
Also when I dial my voicemail it will no longer allow me to make calls until I remove the sim or reboot the phone which is annoying!
What I would really like to do is turn it in to a non carrier UK/EU device and get OTA updates from HTC.
I have looked and looked at information, but my head is fried, can anyone help me with this, OTA updates are important, I do not want any modified ROMS and I want to revert it to normal if I need to send it in for a repair.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Unlocked Sprint HTC One on AT&T

I see this question asked a few times within other treads but wasn't ever really answered clearly in my situation. I have successfully network unlocked my Sprint HTC One. When I put the sim in I get no errors and dialing 4636 brings me to the menu where I can change to wcmda preferred..gsm only... etc.. The phone reads the phone number off the sim and lists it on this page as well. Heres my issue I have verified that phone will cover the same bands where I am so that should not be an issue. I can not get a signal with this phone with 2 different sims. I made sure I did all the obvious things with the settings, the APN's, flashed different radios, and tried different options is the 4636 menu. Ive used different roms as well...When I go to select or search for my network both options are grayed out.... I can connect to Verizon and I can connect to sprint towers but no Dice on ATT. I am currently on version 4.1.2 and have tried all available radios. Has anyone had success in the new York New Jersrey PA area with using this phone on ATT. If so what is the setup you are using.

The Sprint HTC one has blocked the carrier id's for domestic use aka att. You can however if your s-off you can flash the initial release radio the first radio when the Sprint HTC was released and it will allow you to connect to domestic carriers.
I'm in Ohio so not too far from you and I can pick up T-Mobile and att using the initial release radio, it is the only radio I could get to pick up signal.
Here is the first radio released http://d-h.st/HHD
Im currently s-off and flashed that radios. When I select network connection the two options are still grayed out. Could the rom choice make any difference ?

I am having the same issue with my Sprint HTC One. I've tried everything mentioned above and no one has answered. Are you guys still having this issue? And if not what did you do to fix it. I have a Sprint HTC One with S-Off, Unlocked Bootloader, the Radio that is listed here and the latest ViperOne 5.7.0 ROM. Thanks!
EDIT: My phone is unlocked and I have been using T-Mobile for the past month just fine, and want to try AT&T.

I have figured out a way to make AT&T work with the phone. When you place a Sprint or Verizon sim into the phone, it will immediately unlock the network search options that are normally greyed out. I click automatic select and immediately remove the sim and replace it with my AT&T one. Even though the phone complains that the sim was removed, I can click ok, then quickly push the automatic select again before it greys out. I then wait a minute or so until it fails to find a network. I then quickly click the network search option. The notable thing at this point is the only network that shows up is MARITIME. if I click on that, it registers me to AT&T. I have tested the phone and it works great. But it seems to bump me off the network at some point. I dont know if its poor reception or the ROM itself doing it. And if I restart the phone, I lose it as well. So I have to repeat the steps again to get back on AT&T. But the thing to know here is that the phone will work with domestic carriers with no problem. Its a matter of locking to AT&T and staying there. Surely one of the brilliant brains on these forums can figure out how to keep it working. I basically stumbled onto this by playing around with it.

Good job finding that. When it kicks you off of AT&T's network it did that to me when I had T-Mobile as well, so it's not just AT&T. Glad you were able to get AT&T to work on your phone tho, kudos.

CDMA Workshop alternatives and can I get data on other carriers?

So, I've recently rooted and unlocked my device and I wanted to know if I can bring it to another carrier and still get data.? I'm using the LS991 Sprint version. I also wanted to know if there are any good CDMA Workshop alternatives; it's really expensive and I'm only gonna be using on a few devices.
Dfs
So you rooted (doesn't really matter with respect to carrier support) and you unlocked it (that's what matters with respect to carrier support) - so you put in a SIM card for the carrier you want, set the APN data (use Shortcut Master if needed, there's a version specifically modded for the LS991 directly available in my post HERE - might be a good idea to read that post as well since that's what I did myself.
Worse comes to worse if you have no luck because you unlocked your LS991, consider installing the global LS991 ROM (whether it's Lollipop ZV6 or Marshmallow ZV9 or ZVA - if you install ZVB you can never go back to anything prior so be aware of that) which will work much better for other carriers than using the unlock mod so many of us have done in the past.
Hindsight being what it is, if I knew about the global ROM when I got this G4 recently I wouldn't have mucked around with all the unlocking crap and the carrier partition at all for any reason because just installing the global ROM (or modifying build.prop to allow for global unlocked operation) is way more useful and less damaging to the phone. Modifying the build.prop isn't necessarily a cakewalk but, since someone else has already done it for others and posted the global ROM(s) for Lollipop and Marshmallow (as .img files you flash using the Send_Command.exe/dd method) it's really not a big thing anymore.
If you muck up flashing an .img file you can typically just use LGUP and a TOT file to get things working again so it's relatively safe overall, but if you muck up the unlock and trash the carrier partition content the phone will end up being pretty much useless unless you have that information safely backed up someplace (I'd say multiple backups in multiple locations, to be honest).
Anyway, if you truly want the phone to be capable of working on other carriers, my suggestion is go for the global ROM but that's just my own personal opinion on the matter. I'm using tabp0le's MellowMallow ZVB global ROM on my LS991 and T-Mobile LTE works just fine for me, for the record. It did take a little work - I wrote about how I got the full phone/data working in that post with Shortcut Master - but it does work.
Thanks for the help!
One last question, how did you get other carriers to let you activate the phone? Everytime I try they ask me imei then tell me my phone won't work on their network.
Well I've had service with T-Mobile in the past (not currently but will again soon), I have a bunch of T-Mobile microSIM cards because whenever they put the SIM card activation kits on sale for $.99 or sometimes even free (rare but it happens) I usually grab 3 at a time so I have 'em around for testing purposes. T-Mobile doesn't require me to provide any info to them, and even if I go to their website right now and input my IMEI number it'll say it's not recognized, etc but it's not relevant: it works, and that's what matters.
Most carriers don't actually require you to provide the IMEI for any reason as long as you can get one of their microSIM cards (or nanoSIM with adapter) and then get service without having to contact them. T-Mobile is somewhat unique in that process I suppose. With this SIM card I have (it's never been activated) I can go to their website and sign up for service right now and it'll be active in 10 minutes or less, sometimes when I've activated service (it's prepaid so I don't necessarily keep it month to month, sometimes I choose some other service for testing) it's done before I even sign out of their website, like 30 seconds or less and wham, the phone beeps telling me service is working.
So, the advice is: get a SIM card for the phone from the carrier you're interested in and go from there, not sure what else to suggest honestly.

You good sir are a god among men, phone and data are working like a charm. Now I can tell sprint to go **** themselves!
glad it worked for you. MY experiences with ls991, i am using it nvmode. zv6 rooted works for me with cdma data. but data doesnt work with zv9 or zva. global rom doesnt work unless, I edit build.prop target carrier to SPR . it is open to use it as global mode. I am using it in cdma nv mode.. not with any sim..

Ruim is basically used when it comes to cdma sim card.
"Removable User Identity Module (R-UIM) is a card developed for cdmaOne/CDMA2000 ("CDMA") handsets that extends the GSM SIM card to CDMA phones and networks. To work in CDMA networks, the R-UIM contains an early version of the CSIM application."
Your is at&t 4g gsm card. [emoji4]
Check your build.prop and search for
ro.build.target_operator: OPEN
Most probably for global mode open works
For making it work on cdma nv, i have set it to SPR
You can tweak with it by changing to options, it will also change signal bar and 4g symbol like at&t
These will show a Standered international 4G data icon for 3G/HSPA+ and LTE for LTE.
ro.build.target_county: CA
ro.build.target_operator: TLS
These will show a standered international 3G data Icon for 3G/HSPA+ and 4G for LTE (Messes up settings menu pretty bad)
ro.build.target_county: SK
ro.build.target_operator: SKT
If you want the AT&T 4G and 4G LTE Icons.
ro.build.target_county: US
ro.build.target_operator: ATT

My fav cdma tools are qpst, cdma workshop, dfs, revskill and bit advance is qxdm All are freely available. I cant say which one is best hahah. Trust me for me, all of them worked at some instance when i was stuck. Revskill is great with htc finding spc. Though i used dfs mostly.
