[Q] Factory Reset when volumn up down isn't working - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a used N1 and started setting it up before I realized the volume up/down rocker doesn't work. I set up a return with the seller but I would like to do a factory reset first since I set up my mail and stuff.
I have searched around and couldn't come up with a way to factory reset that didn't involve using the volume up/down to navigate.
Anybody know of a way to factory reset without the volume up/down? Can I use the Android SDK adb.exe?
Thanks in advance for any help...

With the phone turned off, press and hold Trackball+Power+Vol down until you see a white screen with 3 Android on skateboards. Select recovery from the menu and clear data.

I can get to the recovery screen via adb reboot recovery but the Volume UP AND the Volume Down buttons aren't working so I can't select anything!!!
Anyone know of another way to reset?

Hello
Is your note original not rooted?
Try factory reset!
Home button volume up and power button.
Hold it for a few seconds.
Than you are in recovery and select factory reset.
how will i do that?? it's original not rooted
No problem
just hold power and home and volume up together for a few seconds.
You will come in recovery and select factory reset.
and when finish reboot.

Its normal that you have to install all again because

[Q] Blocked android "Jelly Bean" requests google login

Hello ..
I am Brazilian and I'm in Spain ... I have a "Motorola Razr I" phone and there was a problem in the android system. I have the version "Jelly Bean" installed.
The unlock pattern has been wrong more than 25 times, causing it to be asked to the Google account and password. I know what my account and my password, but the system does not accept it.
Already tried the recovery and factory options and nothing worked. Does anyone know what can be done? I'm really needing my phone to connect with my relatives in Brazil.
Thank's!

2. The device will enumerate with different BOOT OPTIONS

4. Select Recovery
5. The device will start up with Motorola logo and power up to a little Android man logo with Exclamation mark
6. Press the VOL UP and VOL DOWN Key together at this screen
7. The device will display BLUE Text on a Black background .
8. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll DOWN and the POWER Key to SELECT the option desired .
9. In this case , press the VOL DOWN key till the Wipe data / factory reset is selected and press the POWER key to confirm the selection .
10. Use the VOL DOWN key again to select YES - delete all user data and press the POWER key to CONFIRM .
11. The device will then start performing the Factory Data Reset
12. Once the Formatting is complete , press the POWER key to confirm a REBOOT
13. The message rebooting is displayed on the phone.
14. The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence .
Hope it helps.
If it doesn't work, try to re-flash your OS with RSD Lite
Do as jquesadar has explained
but release the Power button immediately when the phone vibrates. The timing has to be perfect, not even a second too long....

I have followed every tutotrial i have find but nothing happens.
What can i do ?

Thats the reason i want to restore to factory default ...
I found it..
[Samsung Galaxy S] Reset to factory settings
To reset your phone to default factory settings:

Volume up + Power + Home
This will bring up a small menu
Using the volume keys navigate to "Wipe data/Factory reset"
This option should restore your mobile to its default settings.
Thanx anyway ...

Another way to get to Recovery Mode (D415)

Hey you guys if you are having trouble getting into recovery mode using the hardware keys use these instructions..
Master reset with hardware keys
If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.
To perform a master reset with the hardware keys, follow these steps.
Power off the device.
At the same time, press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys until the LG logo appears.
When the LG logo appears, quickly release the Power key and press and hold it again.
Release all keys when the Factory data reset screen appears.
Use the Volume keys to select Yes and then press the Power key to confirm.
For there it should take you to your custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) I used this tip yesterday and it worked for me, I had used TWRP to restore my phone.. (It's my first time using TWRP and I'm really liking it so far)
Anyways have a good one you guys, be sure to leave a like for me thanks.
Didn't work so well for me. It actually performed a data wipe, giving me a fresh install of CM11. Glad I backed up first.

Change to one of the newer recoveries. Factory reset has been deactivated because of the key combos needed to enter recovery.

[Q] Does everything get restored when you do a hard factory reset/restore?

Talking about the hard reset method:
How to hard reset a Sony Xperia Z3
Turn the phone off.
Press and hold the volume up and down buttons simultaneously.
Then press and hold the power key (while you are still holding the volume up and down buttons).
The device will enter Recovery Mode, release the buttons once this happens.
You can navigate up and down with the volume keys, while the power button can be used to select an option.
Select the “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” option and then press “Yes”.
After that, simply press on the “Reboot system now” option.
Your phone will restart and be ready for action!

Say I delete the "stock" pictures/videos that came with the phone. Will they be restored if I do a hard reset as mentioned in the quote above?
