Anyone has an .apk for the stock captivate swype? I uninstalled mine to try a new version. It didn't work but now TB won't restore the stock swype even though I backed it up.
I'm not sure which version comes in the stock, but you could download the latest Cognition and extract it. The version that comes in the v2.1.1 cog is 1.57.32.7688.
I would post a link but it even tells me I can't link to threads on this site. Just head over to Captivate Android Development and look for the thread:
[ROM]Cognition v2.1.1 | Voodoo, HSUPA, GPS BETTER, 3 BUTTON FIX, MTU 1492
So, I've been running the JI6 leak since shortly after it was leaked, but I'm getting tired of waiting for an official froyo release, so I'm planning on flashing Cognition.
Now, as I understand it, my only path from JI6, is flashing back to JF6, re-rooting, installing ROM-Manager/Clockwork, and flashing the latest cognition ROM?
I've seen references to an ODIN flashable version of the cognition (on their wiki), but it doesn't seem to be available/packaged for download anywhere.
Thanks Guys...
Most ruins have moved away from odin packages. What you listed above will get you were you want to go

The recent froyo build is labelled as jpx or jpy, there's a couple roms based on that build in the dev section. I'd skip cognition since its based on an 2 month old build.
I made a ROM Flashing video for questions just like this. Check it out at this thread...

Recently the internal SD card failed on my captivate and it was completely bricked. I managed to get att to replace it for me, but I had just updated to the most recent build of the cognition rom a few days before. Is it at all possible that a rom could cause a hardware failure like that? They also said the sim card needed to be replaced.
I really want to put a rom on my new phone (hate the stock)but I don't know if I should worry about it or if I was just unlucky.
Thanks guys
Bell Canada had to pull the first Froyo update for their Galaxy S phones because it was frying people's MicroSD cards.

I have been on custom roms for months. There is always a risk. Not many have reported your issue so I am not sure it was a rom specific thing
I do not think cognition used the bell vibrant port, perception did and design gears pulled it at one point in time

I thought folks in Canada were supposed to use Perception and not Cognition?
But I would stay away from any 2.2.1 ROM's at the moment if they are using the same builds that are potentially frying SDCards. Read the dev's posts about the builds and flashers beware

Most 2.2.1 are jpy base and this issue was a 2.2 port.

So then can I assume all the eclair builds are pretty safe and should just wait a while till the froyo builds are out of beta?
Most 2.2 roms are safe.

the sd card frying was do to the i9000m kernel(i believe). design gears started compiling his own kernels after some dispute with setiron. and i believe a certain version of perception was a telus t959d fascinate rom with a kernel he built from i9000m bell vibrant sources instead of i9000 international source. days later the new was released that this was happening all over canada and he pulled the perception download. you are not the only one and all of the current roms and kernels are not built with that source. it is a shame because that was not a beta of any kind. that was an official update for the canadian version of the galaxy s. that said the att betas are deffinately safe. and the froyo roms for the i9000 i9000m (*not the kernel) t959 and t959d are all pretty safe. the biggest side effect is bad battery life and voice mail that may not work, or apn settings that you have to put in yourself. as long as you use a i9000 kernel with certain patches for orientation and button behavior and headphone jack logic you should have a fully functioning phone. hardcores speed mod kernel is great and gliterballs's kernel is good for a stable overclock with under volt, it also benchmarks better on some benchmarks in the market for equal clock settings.
i wont tell you not to flash froyo, that would be a shame to miss out on. what i will say is let all the flash addicts flash first, after a couple days read the thread and see what issues people are having.
also i think but i dont know but i think the full version of odin could repartition the sd card, i may be mistaken as to the nature of the sd card failure but i think some people were able to recover there phones.
now good luck with your new captivate.
I haven't been able to mess with my phone a lot, as I have been very busy with TF2.
Recently my phone broke (AGAIN!) so I had to revert it to Stock.
But I was running some hacked-up version of the 2.2 beta. When my new phone comes, I want to be running the 2.2 stock firmware.
Where is the offical 2.2 stock ROM?
No such animal for AT$T, yet.
If I remember correctly, 2.2 was supposed to be out in September. What happened?

Samsung happened...
There was a post around here about carrier/samsung drama, royalties, etc.; no official Samsung 2.2 rom out (though there are a lot of roms which i'd reckon to be way, way better than anything samsung could put out).
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF oh well.
Any good unoffical 2.2 builds?

Plenty of them. Just check in the Dev section and browse all the ROM's. Pretty much all of them are running either 2.2 or 2.2.1. Just find one with the features you want and flash.
My preference is Perception. Runs smooth for me and does everything I need.

There is an official rogers build. Also Cognition 3 and firefly both of which are based on the official rogers build (2.2). Check in android dev section.
I read that it is not a royalty issue it is a carrier issue. The 2.2 for Vibrant is starting to roll out today through Kies, and I read that it was released to T-Mobile in November. But T-mobile had to add their icons and bloatware before release. So ATT is most likely the reason we don't officially have Samsung ATT release. Either all the bloatware like Elcair 2.1 or they just don't care.
Wow, an official 2.2 release from a US carrier! Just found the official statement at http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsung-Vibrant/Samsung-Vibrant-software-upgrade-to-Android-2-2-Froyo-now/td-p/678871.

So you haven't seen the 3-1000 other threads talking about the Vibrant getting Froyo?
What is the I897 ROM after UCKK4? UCKK4 is 2.3.5. Can we get a 2.3.6 ROM for I897 in 2011?

if you have basic questions like this, try to post them in the Q&A Section, not the Development Section. This section is reserved for more advanced issues.
to answer your question, KK4 is the most recent captivate specific leak that we have gotten. technically speaking there have been no "official" releases for our cappy's since froyo. all of the gingerbread roms are from the leaks we have gotten, all unofficial. if you are looking for something newer than 2.3.5, you can try one of the 19000 ports, like ones based off of JVZ which is 2.3.6, or you can try cm7 or miui which are both 2.3.7, or you can try the ics roms that are out there, like the one from teamhacksung, which would be the most recent versions of android. as to when we would get another leak, or even an official OTA, who know?! be happy with what we DO have, which is solid leaks and EXCELLENT developers =D
Thank you very much!
哈哈,被骂了。囧rz。who knows what's the next rom?

KK4 is official and a leak. It was leaked around November/December 2011, then became the official release in, i think, February 2012.
