Question regarding the Froyo version for Sasktel.
I currently used the registry patcher to obtain the Bell update.
Now that the Sasktel update is out I would like to go to their froyo. How might one get that update through kies?
Can I spoof the registry patcher from this:
Spoof Product Code:
BMC
Spoof Software Revision as:
I9000UGJG9/I9000BMCJG9/I9000UGJG9/I9000UGJG9
To this: (This is my own version, as there is no BWA options on the drop down menu.)
Spoof Product Code:
BWA
Spoof Software Revision as:
I9000UGJH2/I9000BWAJH2/I9000UGJH2/I9000UGJH2
Would these settings be correct? Sorry to add another thread. Sasktel is a pretty small market compared to bell, so just trying to find some figures.
looks good to me,
why are you switching to sasktels though?
the only difference is the builds product code
The only reason is that I would then be stock Sasktel.
That's about it. Thanks for your help!

Hello folks. I have a question about build numbers. I keep reading about FRF91, FRG83, FRG33, etc. builds. How can I find out what build I have. I recently bought a Nexus One in Vietnam, seems to be korean version (it has korean keyboard installed, manual is in korean). When I go to Settings -> About phone, I don't see any FRG, FRF, EPE, or whatever, just a long number. For the sake of completeness, here is what I get:
Android version:
2.2
Baseband version
32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
Kernel version
2.6.32.9-27227-g3c98b0d
haleyATm4-dev#1
Build number
2.15.1010.2 CL203557 release-keys
I already rooted and unlocked the phone, installed recovery image Amon_Ra's 1.8.0.1 (suitable for SLCD screen) but now I'm stuck. Don't know what updates would work (2.2.1? which images I need for my build version, etc.)
Please help - I know it may sound like a dumb question, and I tried to google for an answer and search the forum, but everyone's About phone screen seems to show something like FRF91 or somesuch, not the number I get above. Thanks!
The Korean build for FRF91 has a different build number... Passion_KT_KR_2.15.1010.2_FRF91
So, you have the FRF91 build customized for the Korean N1

Thanks a lot, I was trying to find out for days
So I checked on shipped-roms, and the name for my stock rom is PASSIMG_Passion_KT_KR_2.15.1010.2_FRF91_release_signed.zip - am I correct? Are there any disadvantages for having this (apart from having an uninstallable korean keyboard)? Do I receive updates more slowly? Do you have any advice for me - my last question(s) I promise Thanks a lot for your help...
Well, yes, PASSIMG_Passion_KT_KR_2.15.1010.2_FRF91_release_signed.zip is the stock ROM which is on ur phone. Regarding update frequency, it's possible updates may be delayed by KT (Korea Telecom), but I can't say for certain.
Thanks - at least now I know exactly what I have
One more thing that's not clear, I've read conflicting report about this: OTA upgrades through WIFI. Google says sure, it works, but I read a letter received by a user from HTC that said the opposite. Anyway, in case I can update through wifi, who releases the updates? I don't live in Korea, I'm on a Vietnamese network. If Korea Telecom releases an update, how would that reach my phone? It's all so confusing. Forgive me for my questions, I'm new to Android.
I am the new user of SGS..
I have phone with Eclair 2.1 and baseband I9000DDJG4..
I want to upgrade it to Froyo 2.2, how can I upgrade it?
Please help me.
I'm little messed up with what this baseband means?
Hi Rahul,
Still samsung have not yet released the Froyo update to indian galaxy S, by next week you can update using Kies. Baseband is nothing to do with fryo update.
You can use Registr Hack to update to froyo 2.2, if you are going to update it go for JPA, its fast and smooth.
1) Change the following registry keys
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU" <--- There you have to put your Product Code. I used for example European Countries Code
"HIDSWVER"=""
"DEVCONINFO"=""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\]
"LocalVer"="1.5.3.10103.100"
This is very good one### its fast one
Nordic Countries: GT-I9000HKDXEE --> PDA:JPA / PHONE:JPP / CSC: JP4
Only editing these registry will allow me to upgrade the firmware? Will it cause any problem?
What are registry edits for JPA firmware? Can I use the same you've given above?
Hi folks. I've searched the forum and can't find anything that specifically addresses this particular issue.
I bought my SGS I9000 unlocked in Egypt (yes, I was recently evacuated) with 2.1 and have updated via KIES to 2.2. My phone is rooted and has the Arabic firmware.
My currently installed versions are:
PDA: I9000JPJPG
Phone: I9000JXJPE
CSC: I9000JPJPF
I don't want the Arabic Firmware and want to permanently change to a US firmware BEFORE 2.3 is released and I want to retain the KIES upgrade capability. My question is this: How do I change the permanent location of my phone so all future KIES upgrades will be automatic? Thanks.

Just curious, why do you want to retain KIEs upgrade capability in the first place?
Well basically I jusy want to retain my apps (I know about and have AppBrain) and I want the phone to be as though it was bought here.

Hello everyone,
I just received my Galaxy I9000, and made sure i can access the Download Mode and the Recovery Mode using the 3 button combos explained in the wiki.
I bought this phone in the united states, as an unlocked phone. Since i live in South America (Ecuador to be exact), i don't have an official version for this market and i'm using this international version I9000.
Checked the Firmware version installed and is the following:
PDA: I9000BUJP7
Phone: I9000BUJP5
CSC: I9000GVD2JP5
Build Info: 2010.10
Also checked the unlock status:
Personalization Status
Network Lock: OFF
Network Subset Lock: OFF
SP Lock: OFF
CP Lock: OFF
My phone's firmware is a provider one (Vodafone), looked in samfirmware to check for new firmwares, but i need some advice:
First, since my phone has a provider specific firmware, can i flash my phone with a "generic" samsung firmware?
If so which ones should i choose the European versions or the America/Australia firmwares??
I see in the list for europa versions this one as the last:
I9000XWJS8 ## 512.PIT Version 2.2.1
And for america this one:
I9000BVJJPD ## 512.PIT Version 2.2 2010 December
I was tempted to go for the european version but im just not shure.
Also what about the MODEM/CSC, do i need to flash those too? since those are also customized versions from the provider?
I dont mind loosing all the samsung apps, and the vodaphone ones, as they are pretty useless here.
Any advice on what is the best path to go from here is appreciated.
I bought this phone so i can learn to develop for android but im really new to this world.
Thanks
Search up goots tutorial. I think the CsC version just determines which stock apps get installed when you flash to be honest, I picked xeu because it's Europe generic but I dont think it matters
The froyo I had from goots link had multi CSC and you could pick and choose

You can use latest European version np. Im on it now but im from Europe but was on JPG 1 week ago and its from Asia. CSC is what gives you your APN for data traffic and the keyboard languages included but u can swap that easily using the Romkitchen or u can input your provider data manualy. Modem is your wifi, data network and gps driver you can use any the one from JS8 is very good so is JPG one. With modem its possible that with JQ1 u cant acces the 850mhz band immediatly but there are allreadu solutions to fix that on this forum.
Best advice i can give u is follow this guide:

And for sure ill join IRC, thanks for the help ill be going through this process along the day (it's morning here)
Hi,
I am trying to persuade Kies to upgrade my firmware as I'm still on 2.2.1, and I have the reg hacker tool. However, whatever settings I try to change to, Kies still doesn't update.
I'm an orange uk user, but in the past have pfaffed around with reg settings to get the latest I can, this has resulted in the following registry settings:
Product code: GT-I9000HKDKOR
SoftwareRevision: I9000XXJPY/I9000OXAJPY/I9000XXJPY/I9000XXJPY
HIDSWVER: I9000XXJPY/I9000OXAJPY/I9000XXJPY/I9000XXJPY
Can anyone help as to what settings I can change to to force an update?
Many thanks
That method aint working right now. You have to use the method on the phone.

Hi
The Reg Editor didn't work for me either

if you follow the above (Find the App on the Market)
I think spooffw needs root though....and I don't really have the skills to root I don't think.
Thanks

It's the only way to spoof as of now.
And rooting ain't that hard, you just need to read the method carefully. It's usually just flashing the PDA (can be done under 5 minutes)
@rjphillips1
All you need to do is to change your product code from kor to xeu, then kies will happily upgrade you. To change product code enter*#272#imei number#. This will also factory reset and wipe your phone so back up first.
Best of luck

Thank you; one thing I found is that it needs a * rather than # between 272 and imei, but that did update my phone to XEU at least.
My kies, 1.53 or something wasn't updating still, but when I downloaded v2, it all worked, many thanks.

I am stuck with old firmware too
Hello, i have the following galaxy S device:
GTI9000HKYKOR
The details in "Settings > About Phone" gives me this
•Model Number : GT-19000
•Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
•Baseband Version: I9000XXJPK
•Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
•Build Number: ECLAIR.I9000XXJM1
and the *#1234# gives me this:
•PDA: I9000XXJM1
•PHONE: I9000XXJPK
•CSC: I9000OXAJM1
I am trying to update via kies (Kies_2.0.0.11044_11_3) but no update button is displaying, only the message "This version of the device can not be updated".
I would to ask if anyone knows release date for froyo update OR what is suitable rom for updating to 2.2 or 2.3 with ODIN.
