Using Custom MTD with Acer Liquid E? - Liquid S100 General

I was using HTC Dream before and I got this new Acer liquid E yesterday. The speed of the phone is just amazing. Sadly the ppl in rogers store said this phone has bad reputation.
I only have 150MB free internal storage in my first boot. This is not acceptable man.....My HTC dream can have 113MB with Custom MTD. Acer liquid E has 512ROM and Dream only has 256MB.
So I'm thinking maybe we can use the script and modifiy the system partition value a bit. At the end we may have 300MB+ of free internal storeage space.

I think you should check out the liquid forums over at modaco. There is a large liquid/liquid e community.

Why isnt 192mb RAM enough?

How is it that the mytouch is ahead of the g1 in regard to the capability of handling firmware updates when it has the same amount of ram as the mytouch?
I know its a pathetically small amount, but the mytouch has the same amount of ram and I dont read any rumors about it not being able to support future ota's like donut or eclair.
I know the mytouch has more rom but isnt that just for storage?
I dont get it
thank you
yeah, you answered your own question. the problem is with storage, not neccesary ram. mytouch has more storage so it will be able to install larger ota updates when future OS releases come out.
Oh so if rooted could the firmware update just run from the sd like the g1s Apps can

All the modified ROMs are loaded off the SD card... which doesn't free any space. However 70MB of internal storage is reserved for downloading OTA updates, some of this can be reclaimed with the "danger" SPL (how Hero ROMs fit).

32A, apps2sd and ext partitions?

Hey guys,
I've recently installed CyanogenMod on my 32A Rogers Dream and couldn't be happier.
I've been tempted to format my memory card and run Apps2sd but I've stumbled onto this quote which I'm hoping someone could explain:
"If you have a 32a, there's simply no reason to ever use Apps2SD/swap imho - the best way to resolve this would be to delete the extra partitions on your sdcard, wipe and reinstall."

the 32A has the same amount of ram/memory as the HTC Hero, wich is enough for aprox 500 apps , the 32B and the dream however have a severely limited amount of memory, so we use a2sd/swap to fix this.
simply put, 32A is better so doesnt need it. (and yes the internal mem is way faster then apps on an sdcard, so no reason whatsoever to use a2sd/swap)
oh yea and if you already had 3 partitions, start from scratch-> wipe your phone, and reformat your sdcard to only Fat32
So it looks like I have a 32B as I only have 40 MB of space left on the actual device, and which is what is stated in HBOOT, but to flash the unit I needed to use 32A as indicated in the Recovery Flasher app that IDed it as a EBI1/32A.
Any ideas?
This thread should clear things up

Custom MTD partitions

Hello world! I have no new information to provide, but if you're S-OFF and feeling brave THIS works on the Legend. I use CWM 3.0.1.9 and CM 7.0.2, I haven't tested it on any other versions.
I chose a 150MB system partition and a 20MB cache partition. I now have a 295MB data partition. Enjoy! ( echo "mtd 150 20" > /sdcard/mtdpartmap.txt )

ClockworkMOD 3.0.1.9: http://www.mediafire.com/?eldxgcsdb813zze
If this is in the wrong place, and I apologise if it is, I'll get it moved
Good idea
tnx
I'll be trying this out after my exam tomorrow since my Legend is only "sitting" around nowadays
Thanks for the info TGF!
Gonna try this myself too, will report back
Thank you dude !
Is it better than S2E ? In terms of speed I mean.

Err... It's probably slightly safer in the long run, as the internal memory in the Legend is designed for constant rewrites, whereas the SD card isn't (not in such small chunks anyway). Obviously changing the partition sizes like this is never safe though.
I don't think either is any faster, but this method saves you SD card, but carries the risk of completely bricking your phone.
You can't brick your phone with an S-OFF bootloader and a recovery lol
Working great, moved away from my customised sense to CM7.1, allocated 160/2 so data is 303.1MB now (CM bind mounts /data to it automagically)
Have 5.7MB free on /system with gapps on it
98.1MB free with all my apps installed back, none on SD, faster bootup and SD mount/unmount

You can brick it still, I can assure you. But yes, it is harder to do. ;-)

[Q] Internal Memory Re Partition

So, my friend needs to repartition his Note N 7000 (INDIA VER). I had flashed the Resurrection Remix earlier on but he wants to be able to use his entire internal memory. I want to know the best way to go about re partitioning the internal memory. Can anyone guide me on this? I haven't done these stuff in a while since i got my 4th phone (Xperia C, same problem of internal memory) but I am still fairly informed with these stuff. So no worries if you have any complicated steps ... although simple is easier
On the xperia C, there was a command on terminal emulator and a zip flash. Simple. Anything similar?
P.s: Sorry for the long post! It just feels good and different to be back on Xda forums

The coincidence is too eerie. I just got an Xperia C3, rooted but mine has the full 8GB space allocated instead of the usual two internal memory partitions. Installed 1.3GB worth of apps and still have 1.42GB available
For the Note 1, use this link

Thank You for the quick reply! :good:
And the first thing i did with my brand new Xperia C was root it the day i bought it and re partition it lol. My brother and friends were flabbergasted.
And I never really understood the logic of having 2 partitions in internal memory...Weird. Glad it's no longer in practice.
Will report how it goes.
