Anyone using Button Savior? I love it but it doesn't seem to survive a reboot. In fact, sometimes, it seems to die even without a reboot. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to ensure that it's always running?
Sent from my XDA app on my Nook Color
I started using it today and have rebooted several times. Seems to actually work, whereas SoftKey didn't work as reliably for me.
I installed it via the Market. At some point, not right away, it asked for su. After that it has worked fine.

I'm another happy user of button savior. I use it on on my rooted HD2 and love it.
An update just came out for button savior, but I have never had problems with it. I do have to restart it once in awhile after a boot, but not every time. Not much to complain about because I love that some smart person actually came out with it!
I've been using it for several days and have rebooted many times. Installed via Market. So far so good.
I love button savior. I occasionally miss the button to pull up the menu because its so small but it has survived a few reboots.
I see the little button on my screen on the right but it does nothing, I cannot activate it, I have gone into the settings and I can move it from left to right but that's it, Help please

Are you sure your finger is touching it? I have trouble getting the nook to register my taps on the edges of the screen. Once you tap the icon a group of icons appear like home and back. Try reinstalling if you continue to have problems.

Hi. I am a new owner of the AT&T Tilt, so I was messing around with a few cool new features. I installed the HTC Home Plugin and the HTC Default Theme, which looked really nice. After I installed these, things began going crazy. When I had them installed, the screen would not turn back on after going blank, so I would have to remove the battery and then reboot it again. When it loaded back up, I tried to manually power it off via the power button on the side. INstead of powering off, it would freeze. Sucks, I know...
So I finally decided to remove both the plugin and the default screen, as I figured it would send things back to normal. It didn't. When it was all removed, I tried to slide the phone open, but the screen did not automatically switch to landscape view. So I tried to power it off, and it acted as if it was continually loading something and refused to turn off.
This is very furstrating... Do any of you all know what to do?
Thanks.

Try a soft reset and if that doesn't work, back up any data you don't want to lose and then try a hard reset. This will bring you back to factory settings but you lose all your data and added programs.
I have both those things on my Tilt and have not had that happen. Any other third party software it could be reacting with?
Not that I know of. I installed TomTom6 on there, but I had that for several hours prior to putting the two other programs on there and it worked just fine. Is there a way to do a hard reset before the phone turns on fully? Because once it turns on, I am very limited as to what I can do...
Yes.
Put your stylus into the reset hole (just above and to the right of the USB port) and hold both soft keys at the same time (next to the green and red phone buttons).
Hm.. Strange thing happened. I simply held the two soft keys at start up and it seems to have reset the whole thing. Did I do this correctly or should I redo it?

hmm i don't think so you did a hard reset than buddy. Hard reset is holding the two soft keys and than inserting stylus into soft reset hole on bottom of phone. Doing this brings you to a white screen with a warning in blue that basically tells you all data will be erased to proceed hit the send button .. and once you hit send (green button) than it starts the hard reset and once it finishes it asks you to hit the send button again to reboot the phone.
Yeah. STrangely enough, it didn't warn me of any of that. It simply took a while to boot up from the AT&T screen and when it did, all of the stuff that I had installed was gone...
Another question..
Okay, so after about seven attempts, I finally got the hard reset to work properly. Now that everything is back to it's manufacture settings, I would like to update the plain jane look of it. I know this may sound utterly stupid, but can anyone tell me exactly how to install the HTC Plugin along with the HTC Default theme and Customizer? (If links can be provided as to the correct download site, it would be greatly appreciated as well.)
The last time I thought I installed these correctly, my phone went crazy...
Thanks guys.
P.S. TomTom 6 would not have an affect on my phone.. would it?
Thanks again!
no tomtom6 will not affect your phone, I have used it for months with HTC home plugin, didn't have an issue with my tilt. I hope that helps. I don't quite understand what you want to do with the customizer maybe someone else can help ya with that.
Good luck on your new phone.

Go here, down load HTC Home plugin and Home Customizer again.
Remember to soft reset after installing (no soft keys just stylus in the reset hole) Go to start>settings>today>items, check HTC Home. And you should be good to go.
If not , now you know how to hard reset and start again.

Alright! Thanks a lot!
I'll keep you informed as to how it goes! Thanks again!
Ah! Thanks! It works flawlessly now!
Juuust kidding...
I don't know what it is, but it worked just fine for a while.
Now, whenever I tap the power button on the side to turn the screen off, I can not get it to turn back on.
Why?
Hi everyone,
My HTC Touch Diamond phone appears to be stuck on the TouchFlo screen. I can use the hard-buttons to move around the screen and do the essentials, but I somehow cannot use the touch-screen at all.
Strange thing however is that while I am in certain screens (ie: Call History), whenever I touch the screen, I can see the OK button in the top-right corner show up and go away whenever I remove my finger from the screen.
I've attempted several soft resets and removed the battery for a few minutes, yet still at no avail. Anyone have a clue what could be wrong? I am desperate and don't want to do a hard-reset and lose all my data and settings.
Looking forward to your suggestions!
nobody any ideas?
My personal thought on it is that you probably just need to recalibrate your screen... but I can not figure out a way to get to that option without using the screen. If there was a start button it would be easy, but since we have a sleek phone it doesn't have one.

It may or may not help but a shortcut to align screen is to hold Enter/Action and press Volume Up.
I only know this because my friend is looking for a way to disable this combo for gaming purposes.
The symptoms sounds like you have installed SensorLock.
When i have it activated i can press the hardbuttons and the upper right corner of the screen.
Try flip your phone and see if it unlocks?
All great suggestions guys! Especially the Enter + VolUp was the one I wouldve wanted to try! In the end, I decided to go to HTC Support and they checked the device. Turned out it was a hardware problem: the connector was loose! After pressing a bit around the lower edge of the screen, the connector worked properly again!
Thanks again for the help guys!
Hello,
I was wondering if there is some way to track what is happening on my phone? Since my screen stops working when waked up from standby. i.e. if i press the button at the top to standby and then when i press it again and reach the lock screen the touchscreen is not working, it is simply not registering touch and neither are the 4 small buttons on the bottom (back, settings, home, search). However, the OS in itself is still running as I think since I can still see the time move and if I hold the off button the menu comes up for reboot etc.
Anyone heard of anything like this or any tips how to solve this? I am rooted and running CM6 I think at the moment.
Thank you,
Svarto

so the only way to escape this is by pulling the battery and rebooting? when you do reboot and dont go in standby, the touchscreen works fine?
You can check the issue using logcat and /proc/kmsg.
Also, you can read my threads on the subject, describing the same error with logs, and see if your logs are the same.
I'm currently trying to check if the error repeats itself after full wipe and starting from scratch. In the meantime it didn't show up until I applied a theme, and then after reflashing the ROM it's gone again - I'm still checking, only a day has passed.
Yes, the only solution is to pull out the battery and reboot. Then it works fine and I can go in and out of standby. I havent found a particular pattern to it happening so it is hard to reproduce.
I will have a look at that logcat and your other thread!
Just to guide you - when it happens to me, the phone gets stuck with mmc0 access that receives "CRC error" reply and doesn't go through. Pressing power button for a long time several times and playing with trackball / touching the screen between presses "releases" the "lock", and you'll be able to work with the phone again until you put it to sleep again. If you turn WiFi and BT off and then back on - the problem seems to disappear.
Hi - I wanted to know if anyone has found the best way to configure the keys.
I am using Zeam right now, but if you do this:
1. Login to facebook
2. View pictures
3. your viewing and sliding through them, there is no way to exit out, unless you hit the home button where you are forced back to the main home screen.
Is there a way to get the back hand soft key there or something?
Right now, I am just using hovering arrow from Soft Keys as a workaround.
Thanks!
I found that if you choose to comment on one, then you can hit the back button twice fast. I know its not a perfect solution, but its better than totally exiting the app and re-opening it.
Download button savior. I use it when the soft keys buttons disappear

I actually USE button savior, and while I admit it is a great app, it has this problem in facebook as well. Often the back button just does not work. I often have this issue in full screen apps or video. Sometimes enabling "USB Debugging" helps for a bit, but the problems creeps back up. I have emailed dev, but no response.
Program sift keys as your launcher. When i single press the n i get the softkeys many to just go back. Double press lands me at home screen.

It's invariably the USB Debugging disabling itself. I've had it happen twice and both times it has been the cause. I'm pretty sure the second time was due to the 1.1 upgrade (flashed using the zip in the dev forum).
IMHO Button Savior is the app to use. It's much less intrusive than soft keys and works everywhere (when USB Debugging is enabled of course )
Button Savior needs both USB debugging on, and device being rooted in order to function properly(and, of course, being allowed in superuser). I've seen mention of people having issue with usb debugging turning off randomly or with restarts. Once that is fixed, there shouldn't be any problems. My SD build once also lost root for some reason, but that seemed to be rare (prob due to me messing with /system files).
Hi all!
First of all, I'm not sure if I'm doing everything right here, so excuse me if I'm doing something wrong
I'm new.
I've had my HTC One M7 from aliexpress.com for 2 weeks and 2 days now.
Have had great fun of it, nothing seemed wrong, was working perfectly. There were some rumours about an unofficial android-version that was put on this phone, which might be the problem..
Everytime I turn the phone screen on it thinks I hold/doubletap/tap/repeatedly tap the home button, and sometimes when I power it off it thinks I hold the volume down-button and takes a screenshot.. When I finally get to type my 4-digit pin code, it unlocks, goes to home screen, does the same again. Seems like my phone thinks I'm using the buttons..
I've changed settings (in a legit official way via Settings) of my home button to Hold for menu, Hold and swipe up for Google Search, and double-tap for recent apps..
Have tried factory reset twice, have tried rebooting it over and over, have tried almost anything.. I'm at the point of buying a new phone now, because I fear that HTC will not help me because it's an unofficial version of Android.. Any suggestions?
Everytime I open an app it just closes it and goes to home, sometimes before it does that it opens recent apps.. After that it just freezes and I can't touch it. Sometimes after waiting a couple of seconds, I can tap the screen and maybe it's fast enough to open for example WhatsApp, and then it just shuts off and does what I just stated.
Really weird!
I'm quite desperate. Could a custom ROM (Cyanogen or Android lollipop) fix this perhaps?
Please, help

This is purely a hardware issue. Your home button is somehow always in "on" position. Given it's a capacitive button, it could be the digitizer or a scratch on the home button area

Any idea on how to fix this?
This is somewhere about what I mean, read my reply also.
This might even be closer to what I mean.
Should I just send it back to HTC or can I fix this myself, with your heroic help?

Seems like just the thing I wrote. Considering it's a hardware issue you could replace the screen-digitizer assembly by yourself if you are familiar with that kind of work. I tried once on my old Desire and fried the motherboard, so I don't have cojones to do it [emoji6]

Thanks for assisting me. I will bring it to a Chinese or turkish guy around here who will do it for cheap
