can you get into download?

go to where ?
the only thing i get is
1 black screen Galaxy S and under it Samsung
2 Then one big S with some colors on it and under it GalaxyS (the loading Page ) it loads around 30 sec
3 then just go to black screen and vibrates from time to time
My sensor buttons are working i think because when i press them they light them self but they are not doing anything ..
I can just stay in that black screen :S
EDIT: oo and when it's turned off and put it into usb it goes like it should .. Black screen one battery in the center and several dots under the battery

Power off phone.... then hold down power + home + volume up release all buttons when samsung logo pops up...this gets you into recovery mode.

Good news then its not bricked The best bet would be to flash your stock rom with odin though you will lose data contacts etc. You could also try recovery mode vol up home power to factory reset.

To be honest id be more worried about getting your phone working first.
You really need to do a clean install losing data but atleast phone will work

does pc reconize phone? if not then no.

well idk . In Kies it loads for really long time and after that it says that the sd card is empty 0mb/0mb but my sd card is 8gb . The computer cant recognize it in the My computer . I thinkg that my be because before everything breaks the phone was in debugging mode . Other thing i have PDAnet and when i connect it to the USB PDAnet finds the phone and says to connect or something like that. So i think that it can be recognized

if it reconizes internal sd then copy every thing you need if it doesnt then you gunna lose it im afraid.

if the phone is in the debugging mode will i able to see the sd card in the my computer ?

You will lose all system data (applications, contacts, sms), but all your stuff like music that you copied over onto the sd card will stay intact.
To my knowledge there isn't any easy way to backup the system data, unfortunately :/

UNBRICK your SEMI-BRICKED Galaxy S - Solution

Hi. Just a few hours ago while I was on my way home, I was browsing some news feeds with my SGS and I noticed some lag so I thought of restarting it, but to my surprise.. it was not booting anymore and it was stucked displaying the "S" screen then after a while it will go black although the buttons are still lighting up but there is no response or any activity in the screen and the only way to turn it off is to pull out the battery.
Upon getting home, I browsed the internet to find similar cases with most of the suggestions on how to "fix" this was to bring it back to Samsung Service Center and I'm not ready yet to do that so I dug in deeper to research. I just want to share the steps I have done to UNBRICK my almost Semi-bricked SGS.
First of all, my SGS doesn't have access to the 3 button mode recovery (Volume up + Power + Home) thus basically leaving me helpless because I cant reformat my phone from there and worst, in this case, my phone wont even boot up.
Secondly, it was fortunate that i had my phone rooted prior this.
Now, the process:
You should atleast have:
* KIES installed
* Android SDK
* USB Cable
First thing I did was:
* Connect my phone to the USB cable
* Turn phone on
* Wait for KIES to detect it and for windows to install necessary USB drivers (my phone was detected by KIES even if it was hanging in the "S" screen)
* When everything is done, go to COMMAND prompt in windows
* Locate where you initially placed the ANDROID SDK then Tools folder by typing it, example: (C:\Android-sdk\tools)
* when you are already in the right folder type in ADB REBOOT RECOVERY
* Check your SGS and it should be rebooting to the RECOVERY MODE wherein you will now be able to select format options
* move your selection by pressing up and down volume keys
* confirm your selection by pressing home key
* then reboot again and presto.. your phone should be up and running again
Anyway, if you cannot access the recovery mode by using the 3 button process, it could probably because your operator intentionally locked this feature out. There is a fix I found from XDA that works search for : 3 button mode fix
Hope this helps and drop me a message if you have queries.
By the way, i'm trying to restore my apps again so ciao for now.
-Charles
you forgot to mention something
You must have USB Debugging mode set to enabled before hand, before all of that happened, else if you simply plug the USB cable to the PC with the 3 button disabled, there is no way for it to accept the ADB Reboot Recovery command
The next best thing is as many have commented before
It's to use a hair drier to heatup the phone to get access to the 3 button recovery, for those that got stuck before installing the 3 button recovery fix
also forgot to mention that this has been asked, posted, discussed many many times already. i am glad, however, that you got your phone to work
but he has it listed in a very nice an easy to read format, compared to the other ones we have seen previously
my phone did that a lil while back but i have an early ship date phone there fore i have the hard ware recovery option but this is late coming how is it that every one always says to use odin to recover a bricked phone yet i guess im totally noobish but what good is a back up recovery tool if you cant mount storage

Captivate brick???? oranje screen???

Well yes, that is .... do not know if either captivate my story (I hope not because that really does a paste) or you can still save, but here I tell them what is happening:
NOTE: I clarify that I had wanted to get into issues FIRMS, roms, etc ... only put apk but that's another story, I was happy with my cell phone as he was, even so lag and everything was a machine, so do not put his hand, so I'm somewhat out of touch with developments as Some terms used by those that modify cellular pleasure
each connecting my phone to KIES told me that there was an update, so I proceeded to update the firmware of my phone .. the KIES says pda service name: jh7/phone: jh7/csc: jf6 .. update but after about 1 hour and seeing no changes, stays KIES: updating firmware and my phone is in download mode but no progress bar ....
Well I finished turning off thinking that I was left without phone, as it is not in any way except a notice appeared: X. ..!... X (celular. ...!..... pc)
well then maybe restoring the firm to KIES but more of the same .... after 1 hour and nothing happens, no changes or my cel or the KIES so again to remove it ....
walk after looking, I found I could do the same but with ODIN3 .... I try, and I thought it had improved and that this time if I could take back to my cell, because in ODIN said he was in the process of SBL.BIN and download my phone appeared as a small front bar (which I indicated that a bar would be charged completely) but still after 1 hour, nothing happened so I disconnect ,.... ....
but something funny happened, now my screen when turned some codes appear red with a black screen, now if I think I will lose my galaxy s forever, but I managed and achievement do you enter download mode .... I do not notice appears where it appears the cell phone and the PC (X. ..!... X) but I take comfort that even I can get into download mode .... but to try for the 2nd time after 20 minutes, I appeared orange screen, as he had read somewhere that it was gray but scare me very much and lit it off hours later and I can still enter download mode but now my questions are:
what else I need for my phone is restored? and I have the drivers for my galaxy to win 7 of 64 bits! ODIN gets stuck in SBL.BIN .... I have that file? I have it wrong? or because there is not progressing? what else I need to restore?
over there told me that if he had made the repartition, the pit, or to make him a factory wipe but I guess that the phone is still working, but did not do anything about it, because I knew nothing about it KIES that the pedal and I did not just going to upgrade my phone, we did not think that some "routine" became so dangerous and so frustrating
I have only the root, since the cell phone so I sold it, at another, I can only enter download mode and the recovery I need the center button and then the captivate you do not have XD
I hope and I can help ......

fix the captivate stuck with phone--!---comp. icon
Default get the samsung captivate back to download mode
I have similar problem like that. When i use Odin3 one click flash the ROM. It stuck in the middle of flash. I take off the usb cable out ,try to reboot the phone. Oop .. the screen show the sign of the phone--- yellow triangle with exclamation sign in the middle---computer icon. Can do nothing with it, because the computer now can not connect with the phone.
In my case, I take the USB off the phone but still connect with the computer. Hold the volume button + power until the phone flash in black screen .This moment happen very quick ,it will go back to the unconnected sign again. When the screen turn black just release power button but still press volume button (otherwise it not working) hook the USB back in your phone right on that moment. The Phone go back to download mode. If not work try couple time ,important is timing right on the moment the flash to black screen .
Now ,you can use the odin3 flash the ROM again. It works for me ,and i try again same situation couple times. it really works.
hopefully, this will help for who got the same problem.
Moved to Q&A.

this may sound kiddish.....
I was on stunner 5.0... accidentally used some data cable which was not meant for the note... I mean the data cable looked like the micro USB but the config is a but different... but absent mindedly I forced the cable a little bit in(not totally) when I realized that I was using the wrong cable so I took it out... used the normal cable... everything was working fine... but after 2hrs of usage I had to restart the phone so when I restarted the phone, the phone did not start and the loading boot screen was there... I left it like that for 20min but still didn't start...
so I went to recovery to wipe data to come back to start... but when I was in recovery and pressed the volume up and down buttons I noticed that the up but was like it was damaged I mean the highlighter went 4-5 stages up when I pressed it only once as if there was some loose connection.... but this problem was not present before....
so anyways I did a full wipe and my phone was back in track... but my volume button stills rocks even if I press it once....
so anyone thinks it might be due to the faulty cable I've used.... coz my last Nokia phone was bricked due to change of pin config of battery according to Nokia care(obviously due to me changing the Sims frequently)....
so what do u ppl think and any solution for me without going to Samsung centre... coz I'm in ics and u need to go stock again for seevicing ... so any ideas....
sorry for the long story.....

[Q] My Si won't start

Hi, I read some earlier posts about same problem as mine but they all failed ad changing boot loader or something else, but my situation is different.
I was chatting with friend on whatsapp nothing unusually battery was at 35% (btw I recently installed swapper maybe this has something with problem) and phone get freeze, I wait a little and I notice it is not working at all, I waited another 1 min and tryed to pull out battery but before I done that phone turned off itself, and I tryed to turn it on again but phone won't turn on, nothing shows on display, I tryed to put it in recovery mode, download mode nothing, I tryed to connect it on charger and pc with and without battery still nothing...
Did time came to spend a few bucks to repair it or this is just software fault ?

Note 5 Broke itself for no reason, won't boot to Android OS

Just looking for opinions. I have a stock note 5, no jail breaking or weird loads. Just a run of the mill Note with way too many candy crush saga apps. We weren't even using it a couple days ago when it turned itself off. Reboot just got it stuck in an endless boot cycle. Loading normal or safe mode gets you the android 'no command' blue screen of death.
I figured maybe bad update...possibly load new firmware. Samsung's smart link application doesn't work, as apparently I don't have a S/N, it doesn't exist and you need that for smart link. (It's not the IMEI.) Anyway, Samsung over the phone told me to try a best buy samsung rep, they'd flash it for free. I thought that sounds safe. But they couldn't get it to recognize my phone....Verizon won't help me, I'm past the year warranty. But still owe too much money to pay it off and get a new one through them...That leaves flashing it myself with Odin. So I did. It went ok, it said it PASSED, the phone rebooted....It started a little config in what looks to be a factory reset type screen...it got to 'erasing', refresh arrow spinning to show me it was going, then it just stops. The world stops and no amount of letting it sit every gets it to go again. Rebooting still has 'no command' and no signs of life.
Any thoughts on what might be going on? Anything else to load or try? The phone's no good to me ****ed, so I'm open to suggestions. Likewise, does it sound like any hardware related things? Is there any hope? would love to hear a first impression from someone more experienced with phones and Android.
Try flashing the latest stock firmware in Odin using "Nand erase all" ticked under options..
Let us know how it goes..

Same Problem it looks like. Odin does it's thing for about 3 minutes. Says 'PASS'. Phone restarts, does some initializing bar moving stuff for 10 seconeds, it switches to 'Erasing' then the phone just stops
That's unfortunate dude.
I'm really sick of Samsung phones. They're just terrible. As someone who's had to replace their screen twice and battery three times, it shouldn't be difficult to replace the motherboard.
This happened to my NOTE 5 (SM-N920V) as well
YOUR NOT ALONE! THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY NOTE 5
I was fishing, this morning at about 7am when my phone rebooted all on its own to the same Samsung Boot Logo screen then stuck as well. NO RYHME NO REASON, I have never, ever cracked, hacked or smacked this phone either,:highfive:
"The only updating that has been done has come via Verizon/Samsung..." But none recently ...that I recall as in, the last week or so.
While I will admit doing "it" (hacking, cracking, modding,) to other android phones (Obviously or I wouldn't have a membership here). But this Note 5? No... Maybe perhaps that's why its broken now? LOL...
It does always seem that my continued membership here is not in vain though, ......
For now, I will do whatever it takes to get it back... .......next to buying a new phone or it not coming back on ever.
I will share here what I did to resolve the issue. And I will without a doubt utilize "EVERY" resources here at XDA-DEVELOPERS to do it, and happily without the help of Verizon or Samsung.
So far I have determined that my Note 5 version is not commonly referenced here which is: the SM-N920V (Verizon U.S)
Thank you XDA-Developers this is why we need informational communities like this in our lives! :victory:
Even though I may still go nutz during this repair... if it happens.... Wish us luck!

LOL...
It does always seem that my continued my membership here is not in vain, ......as for now, I will do whatever it takes to get it back... .......next to buying a new phone or it not coming back on ever.
:victory: Even though I may still go nutz during this repair... if it happens.... Wish us luck!

might be bad emmc look into booting from sd card not possible on all devices but may be a start,I had a note 4 do the same thing and most def was bad emmc
Unfortunately, my sd card is internal on the Note5 the unique thing is the Note5 does not have an pop of back plate that covers the battery as, like previous versions which allow the back cover to be removed easily, I mean yeah I can take this thing apart, but its not conventional.

Is there any good way guides on how to find/test eemc or battery or whatever? I can't find many resources at all on how to help me troubleshoot.

What you need to do is in Odin options... Uncheck auto reboot. Find the exact .PIT file for your model and put it in odins PIT spot and ignore that it says it's for developers only just add the PIT anyway and in options again where you unchecked auto reboot make sure you check NAND erase all and then add your firmware and after odin flashes it and finally says PASS then disconnect the phone and then hold the volume down button and power button at the same time and when the screens turns off let them go and as soon as it comes back on select nothing but factory reset and when it gets into the recovery mode if it list options and you see factory reset a few lines down use the volume down button to move down to highlight the factory reset option and hit the power button and on the next page again go down to YES and hit the power button again and then let it finish and reboot and least give the phone a good 20 minutes after it's rebooted to get itself setup and to the point where you can start setting it up the same way you did the day you turned it on for the very first time.. Let me know if this works and don't skip any steps.

The newer Samsung's do not use eMMc they use the newer UFS 2.0 which is why the note 5 and S6 never got micro sd slots. I could be wrong here but I don't think so.

Well ****, we're worse off than when we were before. I don't know if this in indicative of a hardware problem, but now that the battery has had time to drain, I plugged it in and left if for a day, but any time the cord is plugged in the phone is stuck in an infinite no command/reboot loop, and I can't get to download mode with up arrow + home + power like I could before. With the phone unplugged it has no life whatsoever.
Could this be a battery issue the whole time?

Yes and it sounds like a hardware issue by draining that fast.. Did you try holding the volume down button and power button until it reboots?

So When it was plugged in to my comp it would not go into download mode...If I unplugged the cord, it would not turn on.
I got a wall outlet charger instead, with that plugged in I could get to download mode, and when I tried to turn the phone on without the wall charger it gave a 'battery 0%' warning...
Anyway, I got it to down load mode, unplugged the wall charger, moved it to the comp and did the flash with the pit file...Odin said it passed. I restarted the phone, picked factory reset. It installs a few quick things, goes to 'erasing' and after about 20 seconds, freezes, same as last time. Now it's back to no command

How long did you let it sit there? Do the factory reset again and let it sit there for a little bit and see if it eventually goes. If not boot into recovery again and read to see what version firmware is listed.

It kicks itself off and goes to a 'no command' after the erasing screen gets stuck and quits 'twirling' for awhile. I don't know how to see a firmware listing. I can't get to a recovery mode(using that terminology to google some screenshots, I don't have that). The phone boots to maintenance mode only...any option I pick there goes to no command. I can use the vol down + home + power to get into download mode so it will be seen by the pc. That's about it

That means that it didn't flash fully.. What firmware version did you flash in odin? And you can see the phone version again by going into download mode too it should be right at the top after pressing the volume up.
