Android Tablet-Compatible Apps - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Hey everyone! I am interested in making a list of Android Tablet-Compatible Apps. Could you do me a favor and list the ones that you use that are compatible with your tablets? I'd really appreciate it!

Funny I already started on in this forum and it is a sticky at the top, do we need more than one?

Not sure if a separate post is needed but, after the Galaxy email app, it would be nice to have tab specific apps categorized as such within the exisiting thread or on the gtabfans wiki. Just a thought.

I think all the working apps should be put on the gtab fans wiki...that way we can all have a single exhaustive source of info rather than searching through threads or constantly re-hasing it.
To the Op. There is a thread (i think over in the general forum about a gtab fan website).
Check it out i think you will like. They have started a wiki that includes working apps that anyone can add to or edit.

Mainly what I am looking for is applications that are designed more-so to run on a tablet compared to all the apps that are designed for 3-4 inch phones... I'm thinking I should have been clearer.

Hey that gives me an idea.
How about a subset on the gtab fan site wiki? One for all droid apps that "work", and then a subset with a listing of the ones that are designed specificially for the larger tablets?
Do you mind going over to that thead and suggesting that? I am getting off work here in a minute and am packing up.

[Q] Truecrypt port to Android

Anyone here can port TRUE CRYPT to Android? I am ready to donate if anyone can do this.
Even a basic program that can encrypt and decrypt SD card, at least the external SD card would be acceptable. This way we can be assured that data on the external SD card is secure, and store documents on that.
I looked for something along the same lines for a while, tried every app I could find on the market that was related, but none of them came anywhere near truecrypt's functionality.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate.
Current rom: Perception b8
Agreed. If anyone could get an app that could atleast encrypt the whole external card, I'm good. Don't even want the functionality of mounting n dismounting as a drive.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I would LOVE, I repeat LOVE, if TrueCrypt came out for Android.

Me too!
It's the only application I can't find alternative on Android. I need a port of TrueCrypt or FreeOTFE very much!
I think we could start a bounty for anyone who can do this.

I emailed them a long time asking if they would consider a port and I never heard back from them. Other people should email them and ask so they see that there is a desire for it

This is the place where people can post what they want. Please feel free to post on this forum too, as it would be seen by android dev folks.
It would be super awesome if they ported it to the Android platform. In my experience, BB 9700 is a truly secure device with its full AES-256 encryption. I used to use it before i got my Captivate so i can def say i miss that feature.

Truecrypt has an dedicated forum, I would say ikt would make a lot of sense to go their and propose realistic outlines/requirements of what we expect from a TC version for Android. There seem to be a lot of folks who cling to the notion of "if it is important do not put it in a handset with a Google OS because Google kis teh evil".
Voice your opinions and needs there, maybe that makes a difference.

i am already following abt android security on google forums
Is google down?
Software is called Truecrypt. Surprisingly it has an official website, truecrypt.org. Checking that one out you find a blue box on top which has a simple text link going to the forums.
http://forums.truecrypt.org
really not that hard to find. Linking the actual thread won't do anything either way cause you need to sign up for full access. Once you are, just use in site search with the term Android or something.
...this chunk of zeroes and ones has been generated by flashing a 400 Watt halogen bulb into the open fibres of a transcontinental communications cable...
I'll give it a try.
I'm setting up a machine to work on it right now, will let you know how it goes. First attempt will be to get some sort of command-line based utility operational.

I've been interested in making something like this. I do have android development experience as well.
I'm assuming opening a truecrypt container would be a good place to start.
How interested are you guys, really?

Mods - can you please move the N2E threads?

I'm seeing more and more N2E threads here and it's not the Nook Color. It doesn't even have a color screen for one. It would be like posting a ton of Incredible 2 threads in the Incredible forum when they are different devices. TIA.
No disagreement there. While similar, they are not the same devices, and really should be elsewhere. I have a feeling they may already be confusing some of the newer people, and we need to try to avoid that.
Maybe make a subforum within Development?

Not a bad idea.
Thinking about it more, it really is a very grey area (excuse the e-ink pun. ). While it IS a different device, the internals are SO similar, that work done for the color does translate fairly well. They are the same CPU, and they share features in general. Hmmm..
Ditto! As similar as they are. They are still 2 very different devices. And development is moving along nicely for it as well . So a seperate sub-forum of some sort wouldnt be a bad idea.

[Q][i9001] What about B2G (Boot2Gecko)?

I know Android is all great and stuff. But what about Boot to Gecko?
Seen it on the S2 few days ago and i somehow like it.
Does anyone know detailed information about its development state in general, meaning how useful it is right now?
Do you think its easy to be ported to our phone?
This isn't ment to be a "request" or anything. It's just pure curiosity from my side.
B2G just looks very interesting to me.

I'm not sure which devices can run B2G and i haven't done it myself yet but Androidcentral just did a nice little walk through on installing it on the Samsung Nexus S. The B2G project have instructions for some other devices as well i'm told.
Anyways i hope this helps you. It does look like an interesting project and i wouldn't mind running it myself but I'm a little worried to do it on my main phone (Galaxy Nexus). Wish i had a spare.
Right, because i don't use these forums much i haven't had ten posts and i can't post outside links, so if you head over to the androidcentral forum you'll be able to find the post, its right at the top as a featured article at the moment.

[Suggestion] mods; split the dev forums?

Hi all,
The different sizes of the Tab S are largely incompatible, yet they share a forum. Can we please have separate dev forums for the variants in order to reduce any possible confusion for new owners looking for their goodies?
totally agree, +1 on that idea
This is a standard for tablets and low activity devices
with as LITTLE dev work that goes on everyone loses if it gets separated since one dev may not see progress another dev made. in this situation i have to say that very little work gets done on these tabs and if you want less for your device then separate them.
I'm not sure this is necessary, the proper use of the tag system should resolve any issues. It may be better to bring this to the attention of the tablet moderation team, rather than open a thread

Yes, but you'd be surprised at how easy it is to completely miss the model tag in the mess of other tags;

Question Dedicated S21 Ultra Forum?

I noticed that the 6.2 inch S21 has it's own dedicated forum with the typical group of threads that XDA always offers - Questions, News, Development/Roms, Accessories. However, I have not been able to find a dedicated forum for the S21 Ultra? There is only this thread - which only allows us to combine our comments/requests/news or whatever into a single thread - which obviously does not offer any kind of organization of similar threads like XDA usually does.
Am I missing something ? Is there a forum like the S21 Forum for the S21 Ultra? If so - Link please? If there isn't one, why not? Why would the basic S21 get it's own group of 4 threads while the S21 Ultra only gets one? in case I am not making myself clear, here is a link to the S21 Thread - S21 Dedicated Threads let me know if you know of something similar for the S21 Ultra.
I couldnt find one too

Agreed.
Be careful what you wish for. When the S20 first came out, the S20U had its own dedicated forum with sub-groups for reviews, etc. Then they decided to merge EVERYTHING, and a lot of the S21U specific posts from the previous month or two were just wiped away. Personally, I would think there should be one S21 main forum, with sub-groups that are either distinct or separate, as appropriate (e.g. apps could be combined for all S21, but real life reviews should be separate for each). I don't know why they can't get this right.
I, too, would like this.

Greeting guys. While I know that the new forum layout isn't what we're all used to, this is XDA going forward since the migration to the new platform. This new "Prefix" based system should help with speed, indexing and searching once a few of the kinks are worked out. I know we are all creatures of habit, but as the saying goes, "The only constant in life is change."
I hope you will all be patient and understanding going forward, and will grow to like the new platform as time marches on, and we appreciate members such as yourselves being the backbone of what makes XDA a great place to learn, share, and do what we love doing to our devices. Even if that means creating a very expensive paperweight from time to time.
Best regards to all: Badger50

Thank you for your response.
It's good to see XDA progressing in that matter.
As a small feedback, please consider putting the filters as buttons on top of the list (of the threads), in order to select or de-select one or more categories. Should be much more user-friendly

Thanks for the follow up and detailed explanation. It all makes sense - and I hope XDA will remain open to listening to it's members for the occasional adjustment - if it is deemed appropriate.
One quick thought - assuming a group of phones like S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra, would we have a main thread that combines all the phones together - much like the S20 Note has done - then threads like this thread for the Ultra might be inside that "mother thread" ? Just a thought. In the meantime, I love XDA and will be around for a long time - "if the lord is wiling and the creek don't rise"..... Thanks again....

i like it this way, much easier to view new posts
instead of clicking multi sub group to find new posts.
Ive been trying to get used to the format but i dont like having all the topics in one thread.
I prefer to have the sub forums of old so i can read what i want to read in that specific forum and not have to sift through a bunch of stuff i dont care about .
Ive been spending much less time here because of this, its thats frustrating. Hopefully enough people will raise this same thing and things will change!
So many posts that are intermingled together that initially rely on the correct prefix to be relevant are causing me issues, I'll try to get used to it, but I don't see benefits .
I also thought that buying bitcoin at 3 dollars was stupid, just saying...
I mean how would prefix this, which I think is true BTW.?
Samsung money card won't run initial activation on Samsung pay unless you have chrome installed .
Samsung browser will not work, I've tried it and thought it was a bad firmware install but it isn't.
Does any body else have this issue?

I agree with that. And I want to add to it:
Once you filter a category (say with the proposed button which is a very good solution) and you want to MARK it READ, this action should solely mark read this category only, not the entire forum!
edit: I'll post it here too.
