Problem with Milestone, constant bootloop - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I have flashed many diferent firmwares on my phone. Lately I have been primarily using TelusLiteV4. Yesterday I tried a new rom and decided I did not care for it. So for about the 30th time I reflashed TelusLite back on through G.O.T. open recovery. Well, now I get constant bootloop. I have tried to do a couple other firmwares, bootloop. I tried a new sdcard, bootloop. I have my sdcard partitioned for Ext3/Fat32/linux swap. Everything is a constant bootloop. The only case where I do not get that issue is if I use RSDlite to flash GOT 2.2.1. However I dont care for 2.2.1. Just want TelusLiteV4. Any suggestions from anyone would be awesome. Thank you

I would try a SBF image with stock 2.1, you can find the procedure in the development section and if it works then install telus lite

Hi. Thank you for the reply. I figured it out shortly after posting my situation. I reflashed with G.O.T. Telus SBF, then did the normal stuff to install TelusLiteV4. Everythings a-ok. Thank you.

[Q] Bricked my bionic, help

OK, so I'm not new to the custom firmware thing, I had a Droid, and kept flashing all kinds of stuff, never had a problem. So I got my bionic, rooted it, flashed a few custom firmwares, had no issues. I decided to upgrade to the Nexus, so I was gonna restore my bionic back to factory settings for when I gave it to a friend.
So I used the R3l3ase3droot method, I figured it'd be easiest. After it flashed it, it said flash failure. So I figured, no problem. I can flash it manually. I try that, and it says boot failure now. When I try to flash a boot image it goes back to flash failure. I can't seem to get out of this loop. I've tried different versions, different methods. All of that. Any tips?
nevermind, in my rush to try everything, I guess I forgot to use pathsaver, it worked perfectly.

Really need help please. From 2.3.4 to Slim ICS

Thought I wasnt such a noob but appearantly I am.
Went from stock 2.1 on Captivate to Serendipity 5.x then later to 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 No hickups, havn't messed with it since. Finally decided to upgrade to slim ICS.
after a ton of hickups, finally got CM7 on the phone just to get stuck in a bootloop. Tried wipes (Dalvik, system, cache) as recommended on forums and got stuck on splashscreen. After trying tons of stuff ended up with stock 2.3.4. , which is now rooted. and after scouring the forums have no idea where to go from here.
I tried Rom Manager & RM Premium (I selected i9000 as I am guessing that is the corrrect one for captivate) to get CWM but the CWM flash install failed, so I just refunded it
Where am I now?
Rooted stock 2.3.4.
Kernel ver.- 2.6.35.7-I987UCKH3-CL461307
Build Number- Gingerbread.UCKH3
Odin won't see my phone
I have no CWM Recovery (looks like stock samsung recovery)
Where should I go from here?

try to install drivers again and first open odin after that connect device then odin will recognize the device
Im about to try ICS on my cappy. Im on GB 2.3.5. I will try slim or Turk's V5. However, if I dont like it, would a simple one click ODIN bring me back to GB easily? or is there more to it (because of kernals, or do a double flashing, etc etc)
Thanks

Depending on how you ended up at 2.3.4, you may need different drivers in order for Odin to see your phone.
I used Heimdall after an unsuccessful update from Slim 2.7 to 2.8 and had to use Heimdall to get out of a similar bootloop. It left me without CWM and a computer that cannot detect my phone.
Since Heimdall worked but I knew I needed CWM, I found a Heimdall package from Apex that contained CWM (post #3, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843).
Not sure this address your needs but hopefully it will help

This is where I found it:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
Once you open the package, it flashes the ROM the first time through and then gives you the option of flashing gingerbread bootloaders on a second flash. I did not flash bootloaders since I was already on gb. The ROM itself, Apex 12.4, is actually pretty good.
Based on my experiences recently, ending the bootloop, solving a softbrick, and upgrading to CWM (thanks AdamOutler!, I actually am less nervous about using Heimdall than I am Odin but it just does not seem to be as popular as Odin. The major drawback of Heimdall is the different drivers.
Good luck.
OMG i got the biggest scare, after attempting to flash the kernel it got stuck in the 'establishing connection' stage. After 30 mins I pulled the plug to make another attempt. I got a screen I have never seen before:
had a computer and a phone pic with big yellow letters:
"Upgrade attempt Failed. Try recovery mode"
no problem. Hold volume buttons, power on.... same screen. 3 times same thing. OK no problem lets try download mode, same thing. After some googling I finally found a similar poster that basically said the screen actually serves AS a download mode, and that he tried 6 times before the flash took. I got mine after 3 more attempts.
Tried to flash slimICS from there, failed and aborted..
So, from here I guess it is mandatory to flash CM7? or do i have to go to 2.3.5 first?

I cannot answer that question about needing CM7 or 2.3.5.
I know that I went to Slim ICS from Fusion ICS without any problems. The procedure for Fusion seemed tailored to their ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233979). I remember being a little nervous about "pull battery at android and triangle screen..." but it worked out fine.
I have to decide whether or not to go the Fusion route or this way (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22335637&postcount=10).
OK, I finally got it installed, OMG it's amazing ^^
To answer my own questions for anyone else it may help.
No, you don't need to go to 2.3.5. I just went to CM7 (build 16) and that gave me the rest of the updates I needed to jump to slim ICS 2.8
Thank you for all your help !
..now to spend the next week going through settings lol

Just wait until you discover the addiction of trying a new ROM. Because it "might"be better, or faster, or have cool options or themes... ...... ..... aaaaahhhhh I needed help!!

thecubed's restore to GB from ICS

Quick question to the vivid folks, does thecubed's restore work? (the one from ICS to GB). I was reading through some of the questions and it seems like some people had trouble working it out. Has anyone had success with it? I dont want to end up like the guy who had his radios deleted...
I can't directly answer your question. If you are stock and un-rooted the update through ATT works really well. I had no issues whatsoever with the update..
My issue with ICS right now is there no voice dialer when using bluetooth. Other than that it is really fluid and works well.
im on the pre rooted ics and i dont really like it. I'm going back to GB.
never used thecubed's method, but i have installed holiraider(gb) rom after ive installed pgs rumfloat(ics) with no problems
just flashed the boot.img through fasboot then flashed the rom zip on cwm
and everything worked fine
hope this helps

I can only assume that when you say "that guy" you mean me, but that method works, but it won't downgrade your radio back to the gb radio. what you thought was deleted radios was a result of swapping out RIL files so the rom didn't know what show in the info because the files are different and can't be swapped out like on other htc phones such as the inspire 4g. and the reason i was playing around with that is because i believe it's what causes people hearing their echo back when i talk to them while i'm on speakerphone.
with that being said, good luck to you. let me know if you have similar issues otherwise ur stuck on ics

I can vouch for this as well. I flashed back and forth between ICS and GB ROMS. Just fastboot flash the boot image and do not try to reflash any HBOOT to go back to GB or you will likely brick your Vivid.

I used thecubeds' GB restore 2x: #1 went from ICS RUU.52 to GB then did the OTA to .56 and #2 my wifes phone got an error during the .56 OTA install. I just pulled the battery and put in my EXT SD with the PH file and went back to GB then did the OTA again with success. It's pretty simple and worked perfectly both times. Glad I have that file. Thanks thecubed!

[Q] Heroc (Alltel) randomly factory resets itself

My Alltel heroc randomly soft resets itself. It's done this while unrooted and on the stock 2.1 ROM, and most recently again after I rooted and flashed CM7 on it.
The only change I can think of causing this behavior is that I installed the CWM Tether app on it, but I find it difficult to blame the app for this behavior.
I've perused other threads, but none of them seem to offer any help or solutions. What should I do? Thanks in advance.
Update!
The phone was originally S-on, this did not seem to affect flashing CM7 or anything though. I got the phone S-off, then changed recoveries to CWM from darthstar recovery. I had seen that CM 7.2 had been updated to RC3 for the heroc, so I downloaded it, wiped everything, and flashed it. I also formatted the SD card before and after the flash. I hope this will take care of it for good.
hopefully your issues are gone for good, but if they come back and you figure out what the deal was please let us know

[Q] Stuck at bootscreen/Failed flash

Hi all,
I know there are a lot of threads about this but I wanted to be doubly sure that I was going to get this right.
I have just got a new Samsung GT-I9305 after my old one died whilst switched off. I was originally going to leave the stock ROM on it and not root it, but the battery life was terrible and it kept rebooting randomly so I had no choice. So I used the Android Unified Toolkit to root it and install a custom recovery (TWRP). I downloaded a Revolution Remix ROM and started to flash it, it then failed and now I'm stuck at the boot screen.
Any help would be awesome!
EDIT!:
I have found the stock firmware for my phone and have flash it via Odin. All is well and I now have a phone that works a lot quicker than before to!
If you have read this thread then many thanks to you!
Thanks,
Storm
Have you tried using Samsung Kies to restore your stock rom. I'm interested too.
