Hi all,
I'm running SpeedMod Kernel and stock Froyo 2.2.1. I did have Darky's ROM installed, but I've reset all caches, reformatted all things reformattable and reinstalled stock firmware (though not stock kernel... where does one find that!?).
Anyhow, the issue is (and I've done 5 factory resets so far, same problem each time) that when I set up my Google account, the phone endlessly syncs the calendar (little icon displayed on task bar and icon next to calendar in sync settings rotating). If you try to open the calendar app itself the entire phone hangs and you have to force restart. Also if I leave it for a while and come back it has frozen and needs to be forced to restart. It never stops syncing the calendar...
Has anyone encountered this problem and/or has a solution.
On a possibly related note, some of my appointments in Google Calendar have disappeared... did the phone delete them in it's mental sync antics?
This is really starting to annoy me...!
Thanks for your help!
PS. I have also tried clearing the data in the Calendar and related sync apps in app manager. Can it be that I have so much Google Calendar data to sync? It's been syncing on wifi for over 3 hours now... but Calendar app shows 0 kb, Calendar data shows about 300 kb and Calendar sync helper things shows 200 kb or so....
UPDATE: I've seen others on other forums having this trouble, even without mucking about with firmwares. Their suggested (and often successful) solution was to clear all caches and data and take the battery out for some time to let things discharge. I've done this... and the problem persists. Does anyone know if you can contact Google and have them look at the server side to see if something has snarled up there?
Any help appreciated!

Still running the 1.5 on my Eris..Have not had a sucessful sync with the google calendar in over a month. All my entries are in Google Calendar, but they will not sync with my device. I emptied out the data in the application settings ..still NADA. Short of doing a hard reset has anybody had this issue and resolved it . Thanks
Don't bother with a hard reset. It doesn't fix it either. I'm having the same problem with mine. It says com.calendar.... forced close or something to that effect.
So ive noticed that some of the tasks that are on my google.com calendar arent showing up on my phone, ive cleared data/cache under settings->apps->manage apps... resyncd at least 3 times but still no go, most show up but there are some from last month or so that arent can anyone shed some light on this issue or knows how to fix it?
TY
btw im running cyanogens latest rom if that matters
Bump...
I've reentered tasks on my phone again then resyncd them they showed up in the calendar on Google.com but then cleared cache again and resyncd and they aren't showing on the phone....
any ideas?
to recap- calendar only syncs one month back, everything else doesnt show up
I'm on stock and I've been having huge calendar syncing issue for the past 10 days or so. Syncing is hectic, sometimes it works sometimes not (both directions), sync icon stays on for hours even when sync is off, sync time gets stuck on some old time and date etc.
I tried uninstall wallpapers, power widgets and the rest but with no success.
I'm starting to think it's a problem with google servers :S
PS: gmail and contacts sync is working.
Im glad im not the only one experiencing this, ive swapped roms and whatnot but that didnt help, and yes contacts and gmail are syncing just fine the only thing that isnt is the calendar. Now that you mentioned servers, it makes sense, i was just tinkering around with calendars and have gotten most of them back, but still inst 100%. Really hope this gets fixed asap
Forgot to mention that at some point I thought it was related to a world cup calendar that I added to gcalendar; but even uninstalling that didn't improve the situation much.
Android not yet ready for business use
Hey there!
How are things doing on your side? Since 2 days, my calendar is syncing (nearly) normally.
But this whole issue made me realize that our beloved OS is not yet very reliable, and thus not ready to be used as a business PDA; especially for people who use their calendar a lot and who need constant synchronization in multiple places.
OK, now this is a weird one...
Out of nowhere, I tried to open my Calendar and it immediately FCed, saying the Calendar Storage closed unexpectedly. Then I kept getting the same message over and over again until I turned off the sync calender option in my email account.
Any idea what this one is? I changed ROMs today, but it was running fine for several hours before this happened.
Will restoring my last Titanium backup of Calendar storage help? Or perhaps deleting its data from Titanium?
Are you using Jorte? Deleting serial events with Jorte caused this effect on my wifes phone.
Manage Applications / Calendar Storage / Clear Data repairs this - until you delete serial events again;-)

I have never used Jorte, but clearing data solved the problem anyway.
Much obliged.
ah, maybe another calendar app causing the same - fine that your problems are solved then. My wife drove me crazy with this one

Last night I was going through deleting bloatware from N3 and deleted a few calender entries, they had the old green calender logo and I use the blue current google calender so I figured I was safe. Now no calenders show up under my account within the app, under accounts it doesn't have a checkbox to check for the calender to even sync.
I've searched and tried various things to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated.
So far I've tried to take the apk from gapps and move it to system/apps. I can install the googlecalender.apk but the calenderstorage.apk fails to install. I've also tried to use another gmail account and get that to sync. When I do that calender sync shows up (when it asks what you want to sync with checkboxes) but it shows up as com.android.calender (or something similar) whereas all of the other options show up normally (Sync Contacts, Sync Pictures etc) and after I let it sync the calender it just says sync has encountered error and then that option disappears totally.
I've also tried to restore an old calenderstorage I had on tibu and that doesn't work either. I've spent much of the day reading and trying various things to no avail. Would a factory reset do the trick? If I factory reset do I lose root? If I have to factory reset I will but I don't want to go through the hassle if it's not a sure thing.
I'm not sure if this is Note 8 related, Samsung related, or an Android-wide Google issue, but figured I'd start here.
I have a Verizon branded Note 8 that I'm using on T-Mo. I just bought the device Monday from an individual. I flashed the T-Mobile firmware and everything seemed to be working fine, until I noticed not all my contacts synced from Google. I'd say probably 75% of them synced, but I was missing a large random chunk of them.
I tried everything I read to resolve the issue. Deleted and re-added my Google account. Cleared the contacts app data/cache. Rebooted. Downloaded Contact Sync Fix. Nothing fixed it. I evwn downloaded Google Contacts, and they wouldbt all sync. I checked my Google contacts online and they're all there. If I ADD a contact to my Note 8, it syncs to my Google account.
I checked my S8+ and tried to re-sync my contacts on that device, and it keeps giving the "Sync is having issues..." message. I don't get that message on my Note 8, but obviously it isn't syncing properly.
I did a factory reset. That didn't fix it. I flashed the unlocked firmware, that didn't fix it. I set rhe phone back up, and I noticed issue #2. I suddenly lost the ability to customize my Google search bar. It wasn't a big deal at first. I usually have to wait for the app to update after setting the phone back up, and sometimes have to delete and add the search bar widget back. But no matter what I try, it won't work.
I factory reset again and flashed back to the T-Mo firmware. I didn't restore ANYTHING and set it all up from scratch as a new device. Still those two issues remain. I'm bone stock, not rooted, stock Touchwiz launcher, using all the stock Samsung apps. My work around is all my contacts were synced with my Samsung account, and they synced to my Note 8 just fine, but I want my Google Account contacts to sync properly. The search bar will just stay white I guess.
TL;DR:
1. Google contacts not syncing properly.
2. Google search bar widget no longer customizable.
google related problem.

Your link says page not found, but I finally got it working properly after you responded. I couldn't get it to Sync properly at first. It took me deleting my Google Account, turning off Samsung Contacts Sync, deleting all the contacts from my phone, force stopping the contacts app and clearing it's data. Then I rebooted, added my Google account and let it all Sync again. Low and behold, all my contacts have now synced properly.
My Google search bar widget has still lost its ability to be customised however. Which sucks, because I like a dark theme and it was awesome setting the bar to Black and transparent.
