Fastest way to wipe all data ? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Long story short, I got caught "cheating" in a school exam. They have confiscated my phone and when they give me a "hearing", the battery would have drained out completely. I was using the app "Notes" to store some formula and also have some images in the gallery. I have CWM installed and was using Darky's 7.x ROM.
I am going to tell them that I was just switching the phone off. They cannot use it without me because I have a pattern lock. So when I get the "hearing", I suppose they might ask me to bring a charger and boot the phone for their inspection. Is there any way for me to clear the data (internal/external) and maybe even reset the home launcher (to remove the notes icon from homescreen)
My best bet is to somehow reset the data when I get my hands on it without making it look suspicious. I know it's complicated. Maybe I can behave like the phone has frozen, needs a reboot and get into download mode ..from there on I tell them I need to connect it to MY pc to fix the OS.
Sorry for time..

Code:
*2767*3855#
Hard reset.
Now-on, study more and before the exams or get smarter.

Their might be a better way but I won't help on this!
Most likely, if your battery is drained, you risk on bricking the thing more than anything! Is it worth the risk?
If you have cheated and was cought, you should face consequences and that's it...!

hold volume+home button+volume button up use volume button scroll down and click using the hope button wipe/factory reset there and plz thank me

no, the best way is what underv0ltage said

it's guaranteed to wipe 110% everything from the phone
i use it all the time to erase my tracks before sending the phones for repair

I have 2 questions.
1) How long does the process take to complete ?
2) Does it work as an emergency call (without unlocking phone) ?
Thank you.
I know there is no justification for cheating and I deserve the consequences, and I wont give excuses.
They will probably ask me to get a charger. A brick will cost me less than the worst case scenario (having to reappear the entire trimester in vacations and not getting grades if I pass) ..It sucks even more for me 'cos I had malaria last trimester and wasn't allowed to sit in those exams either because of low attendance, that is why I'm trying to save my ass while I still can.
Thanks once again..

What are my options?

AT&T Tilt. Stock. 8 mos old.
R 1.27.12.11
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.57.00.00
Battery ran out during a conversation.
Plugged it in, tried to turn it on immediately to retrieve the number and return the call from a land line.
Must've been really dead, because it only got as far as the 3G animation before it died again
Left it to charge, but it started a loop, rebooting, then dying at the same point.
Full Battery, but now phone won't boot past the Logo screen, doesn't even make it to the 3G animation. No buttons work at that point. Must remove battery to turn off.
Soft reset and bootloader work. USB Sync driver loads on connection to PC. Device doesn't show up in Vista beyond that.
BIG IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is there any way to recover my data (contacts, SMS)? I assume I'm going to be forced to hard reset and/or flash? Could I even avoid this and repair a different way?
Thank in advance for your comments

Unfortunately a hard reset wipes the phone clean of all data. Unless there is some way you can sync the phone at this point or if you have previously synced the phone., there is no way to recover data after a hard reset.
Do you have previous backups to a storage card ? Or have you previously synced to your PC?
Any other options?
Thanks for the reply,
It's been at least 6 mos since my last sync. I can partially rebuild some of the contacts, but with received text messages I'm out of luck.
Is it possible to avoid a hard reset? or just get a full dump of the existing memory, errors and all? could then at least extract some of the info I need.
Could I just rewrite specific blocks of data or is there any way to read the info that's in the phone already?
Another option

It'll be worth cleaning the battery terminals and spring connectors carefully with a cotton bud/Q-tip and specialist electronic contact cleaner. Even though they may not look dirty, there can be contamination that may cause the problems you're experiencing. If you have a spare battery, also give that a try (after cleaning the spring contacts on the phone). Be careful not to get any cleaning liquid on the water damage detection sticker in the battery bay.
Still need some answers
Thanks for the suggestion. Keep em coming!
Unfortunately, I tried it, but it didn't solve the problem.
I appreciate the help, though.
I really need to know if there's a way to rescue my data.
Thanks again to all!
Any more help?
Could someone please tell me what kind of help to ask for if I take this to a local repair center.
So far 3 local shops are giving me the stock line that I have to hard reset the phone and to kiss my data goodbye--all without examining the phone.
I've worked with computers enough to know that there are some raw recovery methods. Could someone please shed a little light?
Thanks again in advance--

Thanks for your prompt response - keep those coming! Which did you try - cleaning the battery terminals/cleaning the spring connectors/replacing the battery with a another (and if the latter what did you replace it with)?

Pehaps it may come as no surprise that in order to stand any chance of getting data off the device (other than data on the memory card or SIM contacts), you need to have it powered up and running. What you've described are classic symptoms of power supply related issues and these tend to be caused by dirt or contamination which will need cleaning away, either that or a faulty battery.
Take the phone to a store and use their battery, if it doesnt' work then I would say you're SOL

I agree, it has been three days dude, that is longer than I could do without my phone. Check the battery, if it is not the battery, bite the bullet and move on.
It does not have a hard drive, so it is not like you can take it apart , yank the hard disk and recover data.
We have all lost irreplaceable data at one time during a hard reset or a PC re install. Hard reset, rebuild what info you can, get your phone back working and to you and everyone listening, put your phone on a regular backup schedule! Sorry dude tough love.
Yeah, time to sync every night and save some numbers to the sim car.

SORRY...but PLEASE HELP

i know alot of you all dont want me to start a new thread but my phone is acting crazy and i need help ASAP its giving me plenty of problems but only going to ask to help a couple....
1.) i installed psShutXP Power key on my phone and it worked great and actually still does but after it has been on my phone my phone will soft reset at any given moment(mainly when im on a phone call)...i have uninstalled and installed to see if that was the problem and unistalled again and still no fix please help on this problem first
2.) sometimes when i hit my power key to wake up the phone from sleep mode it gives me either an all black screen or an all white screen so i will have to put it back to sleep and try 2 or 3 times
P.S. i own the htc fuze from at&t in the US and same ROM as it came with...PLEASE help and dont flame and i will not add another thread of this kind again
No worries friend. This site is here to help.
Your best bet is to try a hard reset. This will wipe the device and set it back to factory fresh state. Just like you took it our of the box.
The downside to this is all of your data and programs in memory will be wiped out. The SD card will be fine, but to be safe, remove it befre you hard reset.
To hard reset, do the following:
1. turn the device off.
2. press and hold the volume down and Enter Button (round one on front)
3. Soft reset and keep holding down volume.
4. follow instructions on the screen.
Since you are faced with this, you may want to try flashing a new ROM or deleting some of the ATT "bloat" that comes pre installed. Check here for new ROM advice. Check here for a lighter set-up of the factory ROM.
Good luck.
Doug M.
is it any other way i might be able to fix without hard reset...just want that to be a last resort
P.S. my phone have seen some water it fell in outside during a rain storm so didnt know if that would have something to do with it also but this also happen a couple of months ago
It sounds like you have already tried the normal procedures. Your best bet for future stability is to start over. If you follow one of the 2 guides in my earlier post, you will have a much more stable device going forward. It takes a bit of time, but is worth it. Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier.
Doug M.
just try to hard reset it. you always can go back to factory ROM.
now im using wm 6.5, and my device performance is spectacular. XDA is the best.
thx guys.....i will try the energy rom 3 wm 6.5 that i have heard alot about
energy rom is a good choice and my current rom .
don't worry , once you figure out the rom scene you will hard reset all the time and will learn how to backup your contacts and texts .
a good thing is that nrg's rom even has a good restoring program built in . Pim restore . i use it religiously .
If you run into problems flashing another ROM or the phone still "acts" up, the drop or the water may have damaged some circuitry in the device.
You may need to restore to a factory state and send it in for service.
thx guys i was out of town.........but yea i got a replacement coming in so back to the drawing board with adding all the software i had on the old one to the new one but once again thx
my phone would turn off randomly and when slid it shut. bent the battery pins out a bit and all good now. just thought I'd add that as a possible problem/solution
lol wish you told me a few days sooner i just filed insurance claim and got a new but thx anyway because i might just have to do that with phone....im not hard on phones just bad luck if you know what i mean
Other things to do in the future if you come across similar problems:
1. Uninstall the last app you installed prior to having the problems.
2. See if problem is still there...
3. Repeat 1&2.
Always back up your data... There are some very nice backup programs available.
If above doesn't work.
Hard Reset and load programs one at a time after hard reset until problem reappears...or hopefully does not reappear.
If you load a bunch of apps on your phone, it can be more difficult to narrow down because of the amount of changes made by each app it may not return to the same state after uninstalling a program. That is why Hard Reset can be your friend...

[Q] a quick bypass of pattern lock

Recently my BFF thinks that her boyfriend is starting to lose feeling for her and start finding other girls. She wants to break up but her boyfriend won't let her go unless she provides evidence that he is losing feeling/cheating on her. She asked me to help but I'm at a loss except for one idea.
It was recently reported in the newspapers that you could bypass all security by freezing an android phone for an hour, then quickly removing the battery and putting it back on and turning it on while it was still below -10 degrees celcius. Is this really possible?
Secondly, his phone is a Galaxy Mini with whatever is the newest firmware (I'm a galaxy Mini II user so I'm not too sure), stock kernel, stock ROM, non-rooted but bootloader i think by default it's unlocked in SG. (mine came unlocked). It's been in use for quite some time only.
If the freezing is not possible, could we do it by any other method? note: before i can get pass the damn password i can't turn adb, unknown sources or debugging on.
Yeah that's all. Also, we can't wipe the /data since that's what we're gunning for. The method must be accomplish-able within 2 hours.
I might sound like I'm asking for a lot and might be unreasonable but please help.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Please don't talk about the "just break up" or "politely ask him". If that had worked I wouldn't be asking here. He refuses to break up and he refuses to give his phone to me, even to "play". so called ethical hacking through the human link doesn't work anymore. We plan to take his phone for a while, bypass the pattern lock, then sieve through information.

Erm sorry i'm not sure what do you mean by exploits. I'm sorry I'm kinda new to all these stuff.
How do u know that the phone is not "Debugging On"
Most android users are turning on that feature.
Well if the Debugging is ON ... I got the way to unlock the pattern within 1 minute.
Fastest way to bypass: Wipe data. If you can't, there are only harder ways.
Factory reset
You can always do a factory reset to remove the lock but it will wipe /data. You can still do that tho. It's explained here : http://www.hard-reset.com/samsung-gt-s5570-galaxy-mini-hard-reset.html . Also the fastboot mode works with adb swell as download mode.

[q] at&t s5 troubles help!!!!

OK so a relative sent me this phone and PHONE CAME FROM OVERSEAS WITH THEIR FINGERPRINT RECOG AND AS A RESULT THE PHONE WON'T ALLOW ME TO FACTORY RESET NOR TURN OFF BECAUSE A LITTLE MESSAGE COMES UP ABOUT SECURITY POLICY PREVENTS TURN OFF. What to do? Do I have to send it back and get them to wipe it or can I do that myself? Hope I dont have to send it back because I'd have to pay to send it and for them to send it back and I've already paid to have it sent to me. I'm in jamaica in case your wondering
Not a hundred percent sure but i would think that you would be able to pull the battery to turn it off then try a factory reset to see if it'll get rid of the finger print. If not then pull the battery again and not into download mode and use Odin to reset.
So they never reset the device before sending it to you? Is it still tied to their email and stuff? If you can get the details you could probably reset it somehow.
Better than asking them to mail a finger, no? lol sorry for that. There is another secondary code that if you had that I think you could reset the device. I'm thinking of mine right now and forget it, but it's been a long day.

[Q] Data Recovery Options after toddler Factory Reset Droid Turbo XT1254

Somehow my toddler managed to use the power and volume keys to in just the right order to factory reset my Droid Turbo XT1254 running android 4.4.4. I've already spoken with Verizon and Motorola and their answer is you should have used our security risk laden Clouds. We can't and or won't help you.
When I realized what had happened I made sure not to even set up the phone or install anything. I also put the phone in airplane mode to avoid/minimize any random downloads or writing.
Question 1:
After trying 3 pieces of recovery software and 8+hours of research I have learned that after android 4.2.* that when they removed the USB Mass Transfer option that normal recovery software will not help anyone with a Droid Turbo unless the phone is rooted. Is this correct?
Question 2:
IF my only option is to root the phone (I have never done this but my husband has), given that I have made sure not to write anything to phone since reset, what are my chances of recovering my pictures? Some or all?
Question 3:
Are there ways to "minimally root" a phone so as to maximize recovery of my pictures?
I'd say I'm half a techie with a background in data analysis and many year working with large databases on linux systems (though its been ten years) so I'm just dangerous enough to maybe save my data with some help. *sigh*
Thanks in advance,
Bronwyn
PS Ive installed the ADB drivers and am trying to figure out where to go from there.
i think you are pretty much ****ed, i dont think you can recover anything after a wipe from recovery even if you root to try to recovery something, chances are that will be corrupt or you'll get less than 10% of data. im sorry.
Thank you for taking the time to reply and your kindness. *sigh* Yes, all my reading has lead me to the same conclusion.

Thats why u don't let kids play with expensive things
Did you try http://www.jihosoft.com/recover-data/recover-data-after-factory-reset.html btw you didn't backup to your Google account?
That's why it has a super case on it. That's why I had it locked. But she is 2.5 and pulled it out of Mommy's purse. She is a fast little button pusher. I had no idea it was sooooo easy to factory reset a phone. When I read how to do it, Motorola lost me as a customer. You only have to hold the 2 buttons down for 3 seconds and hit two buttons two more times. Poor engineering for the real world.

The iCult is no better. It seems like we have to drink the Kool-Aid sooner or later... we just have to decide on the flavor, and Apple isn't my personal choice.
(Yes, Mickeysoft is trying to get back into the game with Windows 10 for phones, but they're no better, and BlackBerry still seems to be hovering on the brink of extinction, but they aren't major players right now.)
